N°5 L’EAU – Limited Edition

Chanel No 5 but in a version you can enjoy before your frontal lobe has developed. Beautifully classy like the original but much more wearable for a younger woman. My mum bought this before I could so I had to hold off on buying it for myself, by which time they had released the water droplet/limited edition version so of course that's what I went for. I do not recommend the water drop version! Extremely adorable in your handbag however, the lid broke about a month in and would never go back on the same, I also found it extremely annoying to rest on my bedside table as it just spins around on the surface like a Beyblade. Just stick with the OG bottle IMO. Overall though this is a lovely oxygenated, clean fragrance. This is my Glossier You in the sense that it's what I want my skin to smell like after a bubble bath. Smells like a nepo baby in bar soap form.

I've always loved No. 5 in nearly all its versions. It was my grandmother's favorite perfume and one of the last gifts she bought me. It reminds me of her early childhood in Paris, living in Odéon, across from the Luxembourg Gardens. This summer edition is ideal; the aldehydes are brighter, and the musk content seems higher and more seamlessly blended. However, the longevity is poor, and the sillage is less than an arm's length. I bought the limited edition because it's very convenient. For those who think it's an Obsession rip-off, let's remember all the pebble-shaped decanters that existed before CK introduced theirs. Let's not criticize Chanel just because a supermarket-type brand once made a pebble-shaped bottle. Kenzo had a similar design years before CK, and I'm sure I could find many more examples in my collection.

The opening is lighter, more aquatic, and fresh, with a subtle hint of green notes compared to the classic version of Chanel No. 5. As it develops, however, the scent evolves towards the classic style. It remains very elegant and pleasant. You can still sense the aura of a statement scent, but as if seen through the lens of an attempt to modernize the formula to appeal to a younger, broader audience.

This is the most refreshing, uplifting, straight out of the shower on a bright spring/summer day fragrance i can imagen. Its so invigorating and perfect🥰

I like this one a lot! It's gentle, creamy in an expensive lotion way and smells soapy and clean to me. Love 💜

(Revisiting my old bottles) A version that carries on No.5's floral aldehydic and subtly animalic vintage character, modernized but still feeling both clean and retro-dirty at the same time. I love it, works beautifully right after a shower. I get along well with the aldehydes here because they're soft and feel more natural. The citrus is nicely balanced too, just adds a fresh breeze without overpowering anything. Can't imagine not liking this one :) The limited edition egg bottle is adorable but incredibly hard to open. Truly don't know how to feel about this... On the one hand: A fresh citrus-y blend, perfect for the summer, and more unisex leaning than most other flankers of the NO. 5-line. It turns a scent, usually only worn by the more mature woman, into something more accessible for the new generation. On the other: The projection is very low (it is unfortunately still just an eau de toilette after all), the sillage is very near to skin after an hour or two, and it's a bit more monotone and therefore lacks the depth I was expecting during the drydown. The only way I can justify this scent for this price point, is that it is what it is: It's Chanel. Its not a perfume house, it's a fashion house. A luxury fashion house at that. The scent is very nice and generally crowd-pleasing (after the first and reapply you'll get compliments of how good you smell) but I see myself spraying a minimum of 7 sprays every two to three hours, in order to maintain that freshness for a day. Keeping in mind that an EDT is more alcohol than perfume, the damage this'll do to the skin you spray it on isn't ignorable. Unfortunately, the Fresh Lotion of this line is discontinued. That means even if I were able to layer it with the lotion before, that won't be possible in the future. However, I see myself layering with the Eden-Roc body lotion from Dior on the daily, which in turn gives the scent a bit more depth. A perfect companion to this scent (in my opinion) is a few sprays of Aoud Lemon Mint from Mancera. Spraying it on after applying No. 5 l'eau locks the scent in, so to speak, and gently releases the underlying scent more and more during the day. TL;DR: Nice flanker from Chanel. Modern, youthful, and more unisex leaning, but lacks the durability and sillage I expected at this price point. Generally, I wouldn't recommend buying unless you're a fan of the house.

Testing Chanel No5 L’Eau from a 1.5 ml official Chanel sample. I never liked aldehydes in any fragrance if they were the star note of the creation and Chanel No 5 L’Eau doesn’t convince me that it’s something I could ever enjoy! Therefore, we already know where this review is going...towards being a unfavourable one because I don’t like this. It’s so old fashioned smelling that I just can’t stand it. I know it contains besides aldehyde, various citruses and flowers, musk, orris root and vanilla, but ad soon as I put my nose where I sprayed it about two hours ago, the aldehydes hit me in my nostrils. It’s so acidic, so powdery but in a dusty way, and then I notice some of the florals but super muted in the background. If you love this, more power to you! Not everything is for everyone and the entire Chanel No 5 line is certainly not for me! I know I have tried in the past the classic No5 and that one was even worse...

Is this the exact same scent as the original L’eau? Can someone confirm this? Send me a PM please. Then why do I like this more? Placebo effect probably. Well this is lovely for as long as it lasts. It’s soft, fluffy, cuddly cleanness. Do you remember that scene with the bubble bath in Mary Poppins ? That reminds me of it. Slight vintage nostalgia, elegance, comfort, fun and bubbles. It’s beautiful but fleeting. Edit: After having tested both a few times back and forth I came to the conclusion that they are 99% the same scents. If you squint your eyes and reeeally think about it MAYBE you’ll find here a little less aldehydes in the opening and perhaps the vanilla closer to the top in the notes pyramid giving it a creamier result right from the first spray. All in all, this is probably the exact same scent just with the tiniest shift in notes. I find Chanel L’Eau the most comfortable No 5 interpretation. I feel my best self wearing this and I bought a full bottle of the original L’Eau to welcome in my collection (I prefer that bottle).

Chanel should be ashamed of themselves. The bottle is a blatant rip off of Calvin Klein obsessed. Didn’t think Chanel could stoop any lower. What’s going on with the poor marketing practices. First an abysmal attempt at a Christmas Calendar and now this. Please step up. A whole team needs replacing and ASAP.

Lovely bottle but I’m really disappointed with this. Sprayed quite generously, as I know it’s not a strong perfume, but it was gone completely within minutes. I know my skin is not great with a lot of perfumes but this is the quickest anything has disappeared! So sad as I wanted to love it.

She's energetic, fierce, ambitious. Starts off very fresh, then the original no5 DNA comes through. It's a modernized version, but done in the best way possible.

is it me or is this actually way less citrusy and bubbly than the OG l'eau? more powdery, white musk/aldehydic and a bit more floral.

It’s a really fun citrus summer fragrance. It’s not to my taste or aesthetics, but I don’t hate it. I quite like it actually.

I was hoping it would be a bit more modern and easier to wear, but that wasn’t the case. It wasn’t for me. 5/10

The bottle looks almost identical to Calvin Klein Obsessed for Women...
