Paris – Deauville

I didn't mean to buy more perfumes as I'm still trying to use my perfumes. I was never into Chanel perfumes, the only one that I could tolerate and like is Coco EDT, which is surprisingly super rosey to my nose (I love rose note so yeah...). Overall, Chanel perfumes used to be strong and heavy to me, so oneday I wandered in Chanel boutique and tried sniffing Les Eaux Collection and instantly fell in love with Paris - Deauville omg it smelled super to my nose in way I couldn't explain. Sooner or later, I told myself that I'd buy it anw, I bought it like 2 weeks later. Actually the seller confused me between Venise and Deauville - as to be someone who prefers floral based perfumes, Venise seems to be great choice as Venise has lots of floral compounds. However I got Deauville anw, it turns out Deauville contains all of my fav notes when it comes to perfume: citrus, rose, jasmine, finally is patchouli - I tend to fall for any perfume that has patchouli note which is weird, now I checked all of my fav perfumes and all of them has either citrus or patchouli. And Paris - Deauville unexpectedly has them all. This is the perfume for meeeeeee. I'm so glad that I got it. Concerning the longevity, well I think it depends mostly on the weather. Where I live is hot and humid all the times so the scent during these days will be lemony, crispy and bitter with a hit of fresh basil however it doesn't last long to be honest. However, 2 last days the weather was cool and chill so it turned to be rosey and sweet with a hint of bitter basil to me and last super long, even after showering I still got to smell the powdery kinda crispiness sit close on my skin. So yeah, use it in chilling weather is better. P/s: You guys need to know that yesterday morning I opened the cap to spray myself, the spray cap was completely detached, so I called Chanel Boutique if they had any solution, so they offered me to come over to get checked. So it's an error due to manufacture and they gave me a brand new bottle - fresh off the patch and withdrew the error bottle. OMG! I love Chanel! Their customer service is the best though I never need such expensive make up but now I'm thinking about trying some from their lines! 5 stars for Chanel CS

Scintillating citrus with a hint of basil opens Paris-Deauville. The citrus begins with lime and lemon, both of which are quite noticeable and bright. Later, as the opening progresses orange emerges from the citrus blend. This orange is not sweet or juicy. This orange note is from the rind's zest and it is slightly spicy as well as dry. Petitgrain accents the orange. The opening is as nice as any light summer fragrance I can think of and it is very natural smelling with a richer character and better quality than the typical ambroxan heavy 'freshies'. The heart of this scent brings rose and a decidedly toned-down version of the house's indollic jasmine. These florals meld with the remnants of the opening and never push the fragrance into overtly feminine territory. As the base notes gain strength, a clean, green patchouli weaves itself in and around the citrus and florals in a delightful ballet of notes and counter notes. The blending is great and so are the ingredients. In the conditions in which I've worn P-D'ville, longevity is barely more than four hours. Projection is moderate. The bottle doesn't have the sheer elegance of the best from Chanel, but it is attractive enough. The cap feels ever so slightly cheap. Atomizers are very good. Overall, this is a delightful, light summer daytime fragrance. P-D'ville is subtle and discretely elegant and while it is neither a powerhouse nor a long lasting fragrance, it is priced reasonably (for a Chanel) and exudes quality. A luxury unisex citrus/floral/patchouli scent in the style of a cyphre but without oak moss or a single rough edge. If that sounds good to you, buy it without hesitation.

Based on the notes I assumed of all the Les Eaux, I would like Riviera the most. So I went to smell it, loved it instantly (oh the creaminess...!), went for a very small walk (don't buy instantly, let it evolve on your skin I told myself) but found myself buying it 15 minutes later :-) The sales rep gave me serveral samples, including Deauville. I put it aside with the intention to give it away. The other day I became curious about Deauville and decided to try it anyway and wow.... IT'S AMAAAAZING! On my skin I don't get much basil or green notes, but it's very floral, soapy. I absolutely love it! It's so classy and comfortable and the dry down is warm and beautiful. Longevity is very decent on my skin, I get around 8 h of happiness and sillage is moderate. The scent does remind me of 2 perfumes I loved and owned, Oilily Flowers and Kurkdjian Aqua Universalis Forte. This is a more mature, refined and classy version of Oilily to my nose. And AUF gave me a slight headache, Deauville is more gentle and round. My sample is almost finished so I'll have to get back soon to get myself a full bottle. I just have to have this in my collection too :-) Edit: So I got the full bottle and can say a little more on the dry down now. I also own No 5 edt and I love the dry down on that one, but sometimes the sandalwood feels a bit too much. The dry down of Deauville is very much the same, minus the sandalwood (on my skin at least). If this is what some call the Chanel DNA (like Guerlain's 'guerlinade'), I am absolutely in love with it.

I went through a phase where I was completely obsessed with Deauville. It is by far the best of Chanel’s Eaux line. I wasn’t impressed by the others. I get a refreshing basilic, green aroma. The citrus and florals add sparkle and zip without being discernible individually. There is a bit of sweetness that I do not like about Deauville which can become cloying for me. Otherwise I like it and recommend to those who enjoy herbaceous green fragrances. It smells like it was meant to be stored in the fridge and spritzed on a hot day. The impetus for me to write this review is that I tested out Chinotto di Liguria by Acqua di Parma this afternoon and the drydown is strikingly similar to Deauville. Totally different notes but very much alike. I have tried the majority of fragrances in the Reminds Me Of section. My thoughts: - Diorella: no. Diorella is a tangy fruity chypre with a champagne-like effect. - Cristalle: no. Cristalle smells like a more citrusy, drier Diorella. - mandarin basilic: no. It’s a mandarin orange scent. What it does smell like: - Chinotto di Liguria Acqua di Parma - Eau de Rochas - Aure Maris

I love wearing this in winter. I pulled it out today and attempted once again to wear it in the summer heat (only 85F), but it doesn’t develop right on me. It becomes a boring citrus scent, dull and ambiguous. But in winter, it’s crisp and clear. Wonderful when it snows! It smells more green to me then. It lasts for ages on my skin in winter, while in warmer months it just sorta disappears. In summer I get more of the sweet citrus, and it doesn’t seem as crisp nor green. It reminds me of Crystalle without the florals. I know the pyramid shows some of floral notes, but I really don’t notice any. The base is addictive! I can’t even tell what’s in it exactly. It’s absolute sophistication. It’s a classy blended lime margarita with a salt rim and a sprig of basil on top. I am not big on citrus fragrances—only this one! I figured I wouldn’t wear it much, but in winter I do. regret not buying the larger bottle. This is one Chanel I never want to be without, and that genuinely surprises me because the others in this line are equally wonderful. It’s very difficult to choose a favorite.

For many years I have been looking for a scent for the dreaded summer heat. When everyone jubilates the arrival of the hot season, I quietly sob into my hanky and kiss my beloved heavy hitter orientals a loving good-night till October. True, there was vintage Diorella and Eau de Guerlain, but somehow they both lacked that certain elegance I so badly needed in these sticky-sweaty times. Last autumn I came across Paris-Deauville, and I immediately knew that she may be the one who could be my saving grace in the scorching days. She is elegant, modern enough to merely skirt the vintage territory of Cristalle or No.19, yet still encapsulates a certain vintage heart that I adore in my perfumes, and of course has the unique Chanel DNA. Fresh, timeless and unisex, I imagine it can be very sexy on a man, too. I really enjoy the harmony of the hesperidic and salty notes, that gently glide into the jasmine heart. It lasts all day on my skin, which is remarkable for this type of scent. Could well be in the Exclusifs collection.

I wanted to add a second review of this because I revised my original opinion of it posted below. I kept coming back to the samples of this and loved them so much that not only did I buy a bottle of it, but it has become my single favorite fragrance for this summer. The opening blast of Sicilian orange and basil is juicier and more refreshing than in any other perfume I know (even though I have sampled plenty with an orange and basil accord), and the patchouli drydown is one of the most beautiful I know. It's rare to find a summer eau de cologne that also has depth and lushness to it, but this one does. I get so many compliments for this: one of my colleagues came into my office and sat down, and when I asked her what she wanted, she just said, "I'm in here just to smell your incredible fragrance." This taught me to try summer fragrances always in actual hot weather, because a rise in temperatures can greatly affect how you experience it

The opening is a very orangy lime. Lovely, fresh, and authentic with good projection. I get a hint of the basil, which makes this orange lime opening pretty and classy. When it settles, I smell a little of the rose, simular to Coco Madamoselle, in that it is a light rose. But the main notes stay lime and basil. I still get a hint of the orange, but mostly this is a fresh lime basil floral. Really lovely. Simple, but not boring. In the dry down I do get a little of the green notes, but not strong or offensive. (I don't always get along with green.) I also get a little patchouli. Lasting is good for an EDT. I only had a tester, so I didn't spray this all over me, just a little on my arm, but it lasted as long as Coco Madamoselle EDP on my skin. This is a perfect unisex fragrance, that smells fresh and sparkling Chanel. I would LOVE a full bottle of this fragrance.

Yes! I have been looking for this perfume for at least two years! It is a bright, effervescent green-citrus explosion at the opening, and faint veil of the same on the dry down over the deservedly well-loved woodiness of Chanel’s Cristalle (EDP). Somehow, however, it remains full, rounded, opulent (like a white floral) and creamy. Sunshine making a green garden breathe. I can’t explain it. I have loved Cristalle for a long time, but in the summer, longed for something that would bring a light effervescence to that type of baseline. The first day wearing, a woman stopped me in the parking garage on my way to work to say: “Oh my God! You smell like heaven!” Fair to say, I bought a bottle. It is everything I want to wear this summer.

This is a fantastic perfume that stands apart from the rest of the Les Eaux line in my eyes. It’s a fuzzy and crisp green fragrance. Basil is the most discernible note. Semi sweet. I do not get the floral notes. The orange and lemon underline the greenery instead of standing out on their own. Something about Paris-Deauville recalls citrus aromatics from the 70s. It does not have an entirely contemporary feeling. In this same vein, I believe those who enjoy the early 000s cucumber and grass body sprays would like Deauville. It has a similar crunchy green sweetness on account of the basil. More depth, of course. A similar perfume that is not sweet and more astringent would be Royal Water.

Paris-Deauville screams, “Sunshine!” I’m so over fruity-florals that smell just shy of a Kindergartener’s Hi-C punch, it’s nice to smell an actual green note in this one. This fragrance is herbaceous-citrusy goodness without any sweet notes wrecking the show. (Vanilla, musk, and amber have their place in the fragrance world, but I feel like they’ve been done to death!) I can honestly say it’s the rare unisex fragrance that doesn’t strike me as too masculine-leaning. This makes me want to sip a crisp white wine on a yacht off the Amalfi coast. I’m having thoughts of linen tunics and over-sized straw hats. It doesn’t get much crisper/fresher than this. I can’t wait to wear it next Summer

It's an elegant, refreshing citrus experience. I found that Jennie from Blackpink wears this one and I oddly found myself reaching for this during the hot summer days despite being a fan of floral summer scents. My boss, who "doesn't like perfume," complimented me on this one. It's a simple, sophisticated and sunny citrusy day in a bottle :) will be ordering more and the shower gel too!

Refreshing, green, dewy basil and tangy lime with transparent patchouli but the main note for me, bringing the light and the air, is the hedione. Pleasant if boring on the blotter but on skin it’s lovely and fresh, mineral green / juicy citrus with less of the salad drawer. And it has a trace of the saltiness of the northern coast. Simply joyful on bright, warm sunny days

I can't tell what notes I smell in it. I get tea tea note, but it's not listed here. Smells like luxurious soapy scent to me and I like it. I think it would be so great for autumn, I just hope it has good longevity. It something to wear with a light beige trench coat, so nice. It is a bit masculine, but it doesn't bother me. I hope to have in my collection some day.

This is my favorite of the three and it seems the most Chanel of the trio as well. It’s light and bright with that Chanel citrus melange you find in Coco Noir. Very likeable, and exudes the sophistication that you expect from Chanel fragrances. I don’t know about Deauville, but I could see this accompanying a summer holiday in Nice perfectly.

still have to come back to compliment this one, although it is expensive ($130 on website and i had to pay like $160 for this in my country) but i still find it worth every spritz of it. not cuz it's so expensive that i find it better and more luxurious than all of other perfumes hahaha but it-is-luxurious-smelling for sure. never regret it!

Yet another beautiful spring-like freshie in this line. As with Biarritz, I wish this was stronger and would last longer (and it is when compared to Biarritz) but the smell itself is beautiful and fresh. Having smelt Azemour Les Orangers by Parfum d'Empire, I'd rather take that one: different smell but same category and performs better.

Hands down to my favorite scent for life. I might get bored of other perfumes, but never with this one as everytime I have it on, I am falling in love with it once again. It smells like a glass of icy lime sparkling in the heat of summer. In the winter, it is a bouquet of fresh roses with a hint of jasmine and basil leaves. PERFECTION!

Starts with a sparkly basil and some lime, a tiny bit masculine, but settles into a unisex, lovely, but subdued patchouli. Nice green summer scent, but more like an EDC than EDT performance wise. I feel it projects 30 mins and lasts a couple of hrs as a skin scent. I like it, got the 125ml bottle to bathe myself in it in summer.

This is a fantastic herbal, citrus fragrance. I love the patchouli in the base. This is perfect for southern Florida temps year round. For the life of me, this reminds me of a fragrance I owned a long time ago and cannot put my finger on what that is...makes this way more fun to wear and more intriguing to me.

My favorite citrus cologne in my collection. Shows diverse but equally wonderful facets in cold and hot weather. The patchouli is not dusty cellar, but rather effervescent sparkle. The basil, green notes, and ozonic notes hit beautifully with the citrus. Extremely elegant.

I've been wearing it long enough now. It's green, sweet and full of life. Perfect for warm weather and Deauville smells like what I had envisioned Crystalle to be. It's that fragrance that makes you feel happy and ready for the day ahead. That's Deauville to me, at least.

One of my underrated perfumes. Applicable for men and women. I recommend it wearing daily. If I will describe it when wearing, you in a white longsleeves with tucked with black straight pants walking in New York, a very classy outfit.

My most fav out of all the Chanel Paris line...it smells like Coco Mademoiselle, but a fresher , greener one. Less heavy than CM. My new signature scent for 2025. It was love at 1st sniff. I wish i had discovered it sooner though!!!

Refreshing, with a dominant juicy lime top note, which softens into a floral blend I absolutely love it and have the shower gel too. A perfect summer scent; although I sometimes have a spritz before sleep too 😍

Big love! I almost wear all Paris collection and this one is my most favorite. It’s more younger, modern and less green Cristalle for people who deeply love Cristalle and want it more citrusy and summery.

My favourite out of all my Chanel fragrances I own and sampled. A beautiful fresh, citrus, herbal scent that is light. One of my summer scents that I gravitate to yearly.

I love this perfume from the first time i smell it. It smells like old sweet memories when i wear it. Esp at rainy days. Chanel always Made beautiful n signature scents.

I used it for the first time yesterday. It lasted me over 14 hours (I can still smell it) and got many compliments. My favorite out of the three for sure.

As a man, this is definitely too feminine for me, but it smells very nice. I pick up mostly the floral scents, and the sweetness brings them out nicely.

This is by far my favorite of the Paris line. It is a sparkling chypre cologne with depth. It would be beautiful on a man or a woman.

Smell so clean and fresh it's hard to not like it. I can overspray on this one such perfect for hot summer months.

Paris-Deauville is the most unisex of « Les Eaux de Chanel » that I've tried (Edimbourg aside). A radiantly fresh, aromatic citrusy chypre, it is uplifting and refreshing in the heat. With herbal nuances and a slight woodiness in the base, it is green and dewy - right up my street. It reminds me of Ô de Lancôme, just with more a more nuanced citrus accord (less lemon) up top. I love chypre-colognes like this in hot weather, and Paris-Deauville is one of the best I've tried. Paris-Deauville opens with bright citrus notes. I mostly get lemon and lime, and some orange. It is green from the beginning, with woody-green petitgrain complementing the citrus nicely. The herbal notes are soft, adding a little aromatic interest without overpowering this scent. The basil is fresh and leafy, reminiscent of the Mediterranean. I don't always like herbal notes in perfume, but here it is perfectly judged. As it develops, soft floral notes add body without taking from the sparkling freshness of the opening. Clean jasmine and light, dewy rose (reminiscent of rosewater) feature here. A pinch of patchouli adds earthiness to the base as it dries down, not too dirty, but forming the modern chypre base while it remains light and airy. It becomes slightly woody as it fades, becoming musky as it disappears. Sillage and longevity are moderate. Unisex and deeply pleasant throughout, Paris-Deauville is simple yet beautifully composed, as is the way with all of Chanel's « Les Eaux ». Nothing groundbreaking, but nicely executed, this is a great summer daytime scent. One of my favourites from this line. 3.5/5.

I want to love this so much more than I do. I know it's a high quality scent, I know so many have raved about it so I felt safe in a blind buy (it worked for Chanel-Venise, after all). I don't see myself wearing this one as often. I can't quite put my finger on what it is that is keeping this from being more than a like but when I figure it out, I will update this review. I wish I'd have purchased Biarritz after Venise, instead. It's longevity is horrible but it smells great while it lasts! Edit 6/29/19: This one is growing on me this year! Edit 3/31/21: This is still the last of the Les Eaux scents I reach for. I think maybe it comes off a bit masculine on me. Maybe it's the lime I don't care for. I don't mind more masculine leaning fragrances but somehow with my chemistry this one isn't a love. I'll give it one last try this spring/summer and if I haven't changed my mind, will likely sell.

This is definitely a perfume ONLY for summer! I first got and tried this in late winter and I couldn’t detect/ smell any of the notes stated above but only patchouli and a touch of typical old fashion chanel soapiness. I hated it! And now it is summer here and I tried it again. OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! This basil, this lemon, this bergamot and this green note!!!!! Killing me!!! I love it!!!! I love that the rose here is surrounded by basil, lemon making it smell soo fresh but and the same time, the patchouli is adding some depth to it! I am sooo glad that I didn’t return this full bottle! I like it!!!! If it could last longer, it would be perfect.... Have been wearing it the last few days😍😍😍

I've got to say that this was the most memorable of the three in my opinion. There's really not a great deal to say, such is the chic minimalism of this perfume. Polge lent some of this craft to a line I tried recently, Mugler Les Exceptions which seem bold and brash now in comparison to these. It's a green opening with fresh lime and mandarin notes as it dries you get a delicate powder soft floral heart and base of the sweetest patchouli. It's not reinventing anything and might be functional for some....but not at what I suspect the price might be. I was distinctly underwhelmed by the line.

I really like the way the notes unfold in this series. Each of them is really organized like a parade. Here, the top notes are very lemon-lime, very cologne, without letting you imagine what will happen next. But then the core is rounded on something more "angular" jasmine/basil (woody, please do not exaggerate) and gives it a whole new dimension. Simple, sober, pretty but subtle, with a slightly more pronounced personality than I had imagined at the first sprays. Give it a chance on the evolution (well, nothing spectacular either, but very well mastered).

Starts off with fresh green citrus, heavy on the lemon supported by basil. It kind of reminds me of an upscale kitchen hand soap from Williams Sonoma at this point. But as it dries down, the patchouli comes out to ground it in earthiness and now it smells like a Chanel perfume. I really like this. However, after two hours, I cannot smell it unless I put my nose directly on my skin. I can't justify buying a bottle at this price considering the longevity is so poor.

I have been wearing my sample for a week now, and I quite like it. As others have noted, it opens as a nice green citrus scent, with very light floral notes. After about an hour, I mostly get the petitgrain and patchouli, accented by the orange. It reminds me a bit of the long discontinued scent by Victoire Gobin Daude, Jardins Ottomans (2002). Paris Deauville is light, but lasts for a few hours on me, and is really great in the high heat of summer.

Fortunately, this Basil, Lime, and Orange cologne is balanced off with beautiful Green notes that Chanel does so well. I also smell Chanel-aide florals in the backbone - but the smell throughout reminds me of outdoors and gardens.

Just received this today. Bright citrus opening which merges rapidly with the basil and green notes. The patchouli makes an early appearance supporting the floral and green notes. Nice, fairly light, easy to wear. However, this reminds me so very much of 2 other fragrances that I already own: Eau de Rochas and Diorella. Deaville is like the child of them both.

This fragrance is sparkling like a glass of chilled Champagne. It combines green, herbal /slightly earthy/ & citrusy notes with sweet, tender, floral notes of jasmine and rose. It ́s like an olfactory merging of male and female principles in one fragrance. It ́s definitely unisex, utterly versatile & supremely elegant.

Chanel does Lime, Basil, Mandarin. Starts off pretty good with those awesome green notes Chanel is famous for, then they wear off and you are left with Jo Malone's LB&M. Still a nice scent and very unisex; even slightly masculine leaning.

The most interesting out of 3. The most long lasting as well. Unisex. Can easily be a part of Les Exclusives line. Can smell "clean-type patchouli" Agree with people who said that it reminds O de Lancome (but more gentle and refined).
