Paris – Paris

Paris-Paris is a creeper. With great expectations I received my package from Chanel this weekend. At first when I spritzed myself I was not that impressed to be honest. At the onset there is a burst of stunning Citrus followed by Patchouli and a wondrous Rose. Then the Pepper makes it presence known. It is not intrusive either. However, it seemed like a "Been there. Done that." sort of fragrance but I was wrong which happens sometimes. We had my step-daughters wedding reception this weekend after she had decided, to her father's surprise, to elope to the Bahamas. I decided to give Paris-Paris another shot for the event. While at the reception I had a few people compliment me on my "lovely" and "gorgeous" perfume. Well, that was great and all but I do not judge fragrances by compliments alone. I was at our table after dinner had been served and as people were doing their speeches this gorgeous zesty rose scent kept wafting its way into my senses. I felt ladylike but a little more edgy than a normal traditional rose usually makes me feel. I really was enjoying the bubble I had surrounding me. As my husband and I danced to "Tennessee Whiskey" he leaned in and asked about my fragrance. I told him it was called Paris-Paris. He said "I love how pretty my lady is smelling tonight". Now that is a deciding factor for me actually. He is so used to my huge perfume collection he rarely compliments anything anymore. So when he does...I have a keeper. I told him it was the newest Chanel...he placed his cheek onto the top of my head...and said with his manly accepting voice..."Of course it is baby." Most of the night I could smell this subtle beauty as the sillage is not enormous but Paris-Paris is there like a shawl of Earthy Rosewater with a twist. The longevity on me was moderate to long wearing. Give her a skin test. I recommend!

I have a decade long love-hate relationship with pink pepper. It turns into mildewy pencil shavings on my skin while all the other notes are wiped clean within the hour (Glossier You reformulation, Tory Burch Love Relentlessly..) I gauge a perfume's quality by its ability to make me love a note I turn my nose up at. Paris-Paris has genuinely floored me in every way imaginable. It is a bright, room temperature glass of Shiraz. Not the perfume your gourmand fiend friend recommended to wear on a date, but the wine bottle you share on one and snap a picture of its label afterwards. You keep buying and buying the bottle, but you never call the guy back. Fragrance is not inherently gendered, but I do believe it can be used as an extension of gender expression, whether it be the one you're given at birth or something that lie opposite on the spectrum. This perfume is feminine. As I wear it, I am bursting at the seams with the femininity I used to push aside. It only makes sense that it was crafted by Polge, as he created the only other perfume that has evoked such a strong feeling from me, Comete! You don't get a nose full of rose, just the essence of it, and the pink pepper turns into a supporting actor. All these notes would underwhelm me in anything else, nothing sticks out like a sore thumb. It is not outrageously expensive, although I wish this entire line had a bit more projection. That being said, I will buy the body wash and lotion and probably wear this for the rest of my life.

Paris-Paris is significant in that it is the first rose-centred offering from Chanel. « Les Eaux de Chanel » are understated but very well-composed perfumes, obviously made with good quality ingredients. Paris-Paris appears to be a simple rose-patchouli scent with some citrus freshness in the opening. However, it is so much better than that. The rose note is the focal point of this scent, and every other note appears to be carefully selected in order to complement and best showcase the rose as it unfolds. Such is the quality of Chanel. Paris-Paris is rosy from initial spray, dewy and transparent. The rose is photorealistic, green and fresh, enhanced by some orange and lemon. As it develops, pink pepper adds a soft twist of spice to the rose, giving it a little edge. A perfectly-gauged pinch of earthy patchouli grounds the rose in its later stages, a beautiful example of the classic rose-patchouli accord. Its performance is surprisingly good, with moderate sillage and longevity. As a rose lover, I was keen to try Paris-Paris and I'm not disappointed, even though I typically prefer richer rose scents. This is one of the best examples of a rose cologne I've tried. Wonderfully light, fresh and natural-smelling, it is effortlessly beautiful throughout. A great feminine spring/summer everyday scent for rose fans. 4/5.

Paris-Paris is a beautiful woody rose. If I had more than a 1.5 ml sample vial, I would spray this with abandon; it's gorgeous. It reminds me a little bit of Perles de Lalique, only it's much less "in your face" with the pepper and patch. For an EDT this has excellent longevity on paper--much better than my other sample, Chanel No. 5 l'Eau, which smelled fantastic for the first few minutes but faded quickly, like most citrus colognes do. But Paris-Paris, while still an EDT, wears more like a sturdier Chanel EDT (my beloved EDT of Misia is stronger than many so-called EDPs, for instance, and I'd put most of the Liz Taylor EDTs in that category, too). It has been decades since I was lucky enough to live in Paris, but it really did smell like that sometimes, like woody roses, but to be completely honest, it also smelled like car exhaust, urine, and cigarettes sometimes, too. As with all big old cities, its odors were complex and polyphonic. It's not in my budget to buy another full bottle of Chanel anytime soon, but I would seriously consider adding this one to my wish list.

Rooh Afza. I guess only a select few will understand that reference. For those who don't: Rooh afza is a sherbet rather a syrup used to make sherbet. It was introduced in the market (Indian subcontinent) in about 1907. It is a rose concoction with many other added fruits. A very common household name but my o my the popularity it garnered has stood the test of time. So refreshing in taste and so in smell and aroma. Used in a variety of desserts and puddings. Paris-paris has that quality. That refreshing rose from a short rain spell and when the rainbow is visible on the skyline. The rose is sweet and delicate whereas the citrus and patchouli with the pink pepper used in contrast to add and bring out that slightly astringent and minty feeling. Its very light like some of the Aqua allegorias from Guerlain. More in the nature of mists. Having said that it is nothing groundbreaking or very novel particularly for the price in a les eaux formulation. And Chanel keeps raising the prices so whimsically, its laughable.

I was at the Chanel fragrance boutique today talking about perfumes that my girlfriend likes and the sales associate had me smell this on a strip. It reminded me of refreshing rose water. I love rose water! There weren’t any samples of it so I sprayed on my arm and noticed the patchouli making an appearance. To me it smells like Diptyque’s Eau Capitale mixed with lemon water to dilute it to a cologne strength. When the water feeling dries up it becomes a light rose/subtle patchouli skin scent. This isn’t a complex fragrance and it definitely leans feminine in my opinion but I think men could pull this off in the right situation or if it was layered. Seems perfect for a hot summer day. I experienced an intimate to moderate projection on my skin for a couple hours and it only lasted about 5-6 hours total. Considering its simplicity and light performance balanced against the 4.2 oz. bottle size, I think the price point is in line with the other Chanels that only last a handful of hours.

At first spray this is a spicy somewhat screechy peppery green floral scent but it settles down beautifully into a enveloping citrus rose patchouli. It very much gives “rich girl” vibes - it’s a unique smell, not the same as all of the other rose chypres in the market. I’d say this leans a little on the cooler side of roses - not the jammy, juicy roses I normally gravitate towards - but there’s warmth in the base notes that linger longer after the top and heart notes have subsided. I spray this on my coat and scarf and can smell it days later, which is quite impressive for an EDT I’ve gotten multiple compliments on this. I wore it today and the girl actually told me “it smells like a rich girl” and I totally agree. And for the price point and longevity, it smells way more expensive than it is, and you get a lot in the bottle so it will last quite awhile. I don’t like many Chanel perfumes (normally too heady, grandma, white floral) but this is a winner.

when the SA at my local boutique sprayed paris-paris, i was so taken aback. it was the most beautiful thing i smelled. it's odd to me that it's not in anyone top 10 for life because currently it is NO.1 in my collection! the SA gave me a sample of it after i bought a concealer and i remember walking home feeling so happy because i think i found THE perfume for me. i generally gravitate towards citus rose patchouli anyways (like miss dior 2017 or miss dior edt), it is simply so beautiful it made me emotional smelling it. it smells like the patchouli is a little earthy and dirty, almost like it's rotting, along with a sweet rose which is juxtaposed by a bright citrus, it is simply breath-taking. anyone who is thinking of it, TRY IT. it is my TOP perfume, it is elegance, wealth, class in one bottle. i think maybe if one is to wear it in warmer weather, it will bring out the fascinating accents this perfume has to offer.

Classy, versatile, dry, and rosy. The combination of rose, citrus, and patchouli in this EDT is gorgeous. I feel like I can wear this just about everywhere I go--to the office, a date, dinner with friends, job interview, museum, etc. It's a polite and elegant concoction. It's also quite linear and simple, but its top-notch ingredients ooze quality and luxury. It pairs well with a crisp white button-down poplin shirt, a pair of gold hoops, tailored jeans, and booties. It's not too sweet nor too floral (although I may not be the best judge, as I love most florals and do not get overwhelmed by them). I believe every perfume is unisex, but some men shy away from rose. This is not a rose to shy away from. The woodsy elements tone down any overly feminine start that the scent may have. I just wish it lasted longer! Chanel, please make an EDP version of this. I would purchase in a heartbeat.

Very peppery opening that I don't love, but luckily the pepper dissipates quickly. Then it smells like dewy pink roses but with a ton of fluffy musk in the base. Seems like a rose fragrance in the style of Chloe EDP versus an über green rose like Ombre Dans L’Eau. It has some strong patchouli in the base. I think they could've gone easier on it. Despite all the patchouli and also lots of musk, the rose seems to shine though as fresh and just a tiny bit green. Thankfully no currant/cassis. I hate that combo, and it’s so played out. This perfume smells DIVINE on clothes for days. It smells just like a Barbie solid perfume I had in the late 80’s! If you had Perfume Pretty Whitney (wearing a blue dress), she came with a locket that contained a solid perfume that smelled eerily similar to this (minus the patchouli). Makes me very nostalgic.

Agree with most of the reviews below, this is nothing really wow and groundbreaking but I just can’t stop wearing this... i don’t know why too. I hated it when I first sniffed, I was like what is this release doing this is so simple, but once I sprayed on my twist the magic started!! Sorry to say that, but I think this is the real Chanel fragrance that Olivier has made, the releases he had I was so disappointed for being not really “Chanel” especially Gabrielle(sorry). For Paris Paris I sensed the “Chanel” dna - sophistication !!! A big love and super super long lasting despite its in edt concentration, the performance surprised me a lot indeed, it lasted on my clothes for 3 days!

I have worn Paris Paris for two days and I can’t stop sniffing my arms. I’ve sprayed it throughout the day repeatedly....it is exactly as described....sparkling and LOVELY!! I blind bought it and couldn’t wait for it to arrive. It is special and so uplifting! The notes are not overwhelming but rather blend so well together and the longevity is excellent. Wearing Paris Paris transports me directly to Paris in the spring and I feel it is a fantastic addition to the Chanel line. I’m not a huge floral fan but the rose in this fragrance is divine. No way overbearing but simply beautiful. I have other rose fragrances but this one is unique and so desirable. Very well done Chanel!!

The sketch of a contemporary chypre. You know how in contemporary art sketches are prized, because they show the talent and spontaneity of the artist in producing a simple, yet striking work. It’s the same here. Paris-Paris is simple but oh, so pretty and inspired. I smell a city break in warm weather and it relaxes me. It is very elegant, uplifting and just very, very likeable and wearable, like a lot of Chanel perfumes. The rose here is beautiful, fragrant, fresh and watery, with a hint of citronella and a little red pepper. Patchouli comes to life much later. This is so far one of my favourite releases of 2022.

Even though this is specifically marketed to women I feel like a guy can pull this off just as well. With a pink dress shirt or polo this would be the absolute perfect scent on a cool sunny day. The pepper note gives it a slightly masculine touch in my opinion. It smells divine in the air, though up close the rose note is pretty strong and takes some getting used to for me, but the patchouli in the base helps. This is also one Chanel that actually performs very well for me, and that includes BDC, Allure Homme, etc. I can still catch wafts 6+ hours later, definitely strongest in the Les Eaux line that I’ve tried.

Just received this sample and I immediately thought of Bond 9 Manhattan. This isn't as complex, but the amount and type of rose combined with oud is the same. I know oud isn't listed here, and maybe it's an almost sour patchouli that I'm smelling, but it comes across as that addictive sour oud that I love in the right doses. Overall, this is beautiful on skin as soon as 5 minutes. Not too deep for Summer, yet comforting enough for Winter. It doesn't come across as CHANEL to me though. And maybe that's a good thing for many, but I'm missing that touch here.

I kind of love this, even if it leans a tiny bit feminine. Citrus opening with rose ever present in the background. Then a woody earthy backbone supported by the sparkling aldehydic Chanelade. Very nice. Maybe...maybe not for me day to day but I'd wear it for myself if I had it. Scent: 8 / Sillage: 7 / Longevity: 6 UPDATE (8/5/2022): Really love this...would consider getting a bottle just to wear by myself when I'm alone. Would definitely enjoy this on a woman. Refreshing bright citrus rose summery opening.

It's kinda unique, for real the rose note is super good, the top note isn't surprise me at all but after a few minutes it getting really really good. For women this is one of the best fragrance to get, for the price point I think it's reasonable. It last around 5-6 hours, mid projection but that is also good too I think cuz I don't like overprojecting perfume. The mid note and base note is almost perfect, all I can say is I love it on a girl for sure. Logevity: 8/10 Projection: 7.5/10 Smell: 9/10

What a lovely perfume! It reminds me so much of 'Rose of no man's land' from Byredo and little bit of Narciso Rodriguez 'for her'. It opens with a citrus note, very fresh, and then start to blend with the rose note, I think this one is very feminine and it's a floral and woody and the same time. Very good scent and I really recommend if you like this kind of notes, it is inoffensive and super easy to please. I wish it would last a little longer, but I understand that is an eau de toilette.

Beautiful classic and sparkly rose-citrus-patchouli combo. Not very exciting but absolutely high quality and uplifting everday kind of fragrance. More suitable to moderate climates, however, because the EdT concentration won`t really survive any really hot and humid climate for long. For a Chanel fragrance it`s also almost on the affordable side, but well, it IS an EdT. I do think this would make for a nice safe gift for someone, granted you know the person likes rose themed fragrances.

There's nothing particularly complex about this fragrance, but what it does, it does really well. A sparkling rose lemonade sums it up: citrus, pepper and aldehydes up top, a sumptuous rose heart on a patchouli base. Very long lasting for an EDT and clings to clothes for days. Indeed parfum is listed above water in the ingredient list, something more common to an EDP. This is a very happy, optimistic perfume. In theory it's comparable to Eau Capitale but lighter and more effervescent.

Very pretty spicy rose with an ambery woody drydown that makes it a little more interesting. It’s not groundbreaking and it does remind me a little of Mille et un rose in the drydown. But I’m really enjoying wearing it and it seems to last pretty long on my skin and even longer on my clothes. I have only tried Paris-Riviera from this line which I liked, but this one has become my new favorite and will be an easy reach especially during the upcoming warmer months.

It's not unique in any way, but somehow I can't stop wearing it. It has this distinct Chanel vibe about it - a vibe of a classy, successful woman that spends serious money on herself. A great fragrance for the office or daily life - fresh and uplifting, gives you a confidence boost because you know you smell great, and at the same time it's not heavy enough to bother anybody. Works really well in warm/hot weather.

Simple and straightforward in a really elegant way; like a French meal with simple ingredients that’s extremely well cooked and prepared. Light, fresh, beautiful rose with sparkly citrus and pepper, supported by classic Chanel patchouli. Truly a pretty scent; feminine and clean, balanced, polished. It’s lovely for spring/summer daytime. Will need to skin test a bit more before I decide on a purchase!

personally i think Paris-Paris is the most feminine out of the les eaux collection which is unfortunate for me a little bit as a male as i blind bought this thinking it will be more unisex smelling like the rest of the collection....nonetheless,it's a very pretty , spicy , earthy rose scent with moderate performance...i love the pink pepper giving slight edge to the rose and citrus to brighten it up

Very beautiful, but also very similar to discontinued Chloe Intense by Chloe (black ribbon). Paris is a bit more ”herbal”, a bit less feminine (even though Chloe Intense certainly isn’t overtly femme), colder, and lighter. I do really like it, but I prefer the Chloe Intense which this one makes me long for. I smell something a bit salty r too, which I assume is the slightly earthy patchouli.

It's been on my list since last year,but because it's edt, it's not my top priority.surprisingly it has good Longevity.it radiates ,people could smells it.I got compliment from my husband. I don't know about transported to Paris ,but it's definitely beautiful,feminine scents, it's fresh rosy scent,that I can wear all year round at day.Love it

Chanel's version of Rose 'n Roses. Adore both versions, they are truely beautiful and well executed rose scents. Dior's is more jammy with a geranium note, while Chanel's is more citrusy and fresher. Lasts for ~6 hours with close sillage. The embodiment of elegant feminine youth. Best feminine in the Les Eaux line in my opinion.

Possibly my favorite new Chanel. Just beautiful. Somehow Olivier Polge managed to create a fragrance that is rosey, incensey, balsamy, Irisy, peppery and deep yet sheer, effervescent and wearable in any situation; morning, noon, and night. Genius. I LOVE this. Instant back up bottle (maybe 2).

I loved this fragrance from the first encounter and had to have it. While I adore it, I am greatly disappointed in the poor longevity and sillage. Maybe an EDP version would rectify this. I recommend as a perfume to wear at home where it can be reapplied.

It’s a very nice and complex classic chypre scent. It reminds me of basically “everything” haha It’s super good but at the same time it’s sort of super simple combination of citrus, rose and patchouli. Nothing special but still brilliant!

Clean, sophisticated, office friendly dry rose patchouli perfume. It's very Chanel, timeless, inoffensive and professional. A great perfume for everyday wear and for enclosed spaces. It stays close to your body, you won't offend anyone.

I like this this very much but longevity is poor on me which is disappointing. I’m not a big fan of patchouli but this is very well blended and the patchouli isn’t overwhelming. I also have the body lotion which helps with longevity.

My wedding day fragrance. Zero sugar on this. If you are a vanilla, caramel, Tonka bean, berries kind of person, this is probably not for you. Rose and patchouli take over, and dry down beautifully. Very clean, fresh and classy.

@Naomi/s I : IMO this has the best longevity and a huge sillage in the collection... I spray 5-6 sprays wherever I go my co-workers always complimented on this ahaha I can still detect this after work on my skin it lasts 7hours+

Paris - Paris is so beautiful very delicate young pink rose scent that can layer well with every on of Les Eaux line of Chanel. It's my favorite bedtime scent where I wear to bed together with Paris - Deauville, must love !!!

the parisian invitation great combo, it radiates chic polished paris l’art couldn’t be better displayed here, with a little retro feel, the pepper and patchouli resting on the woods making this safe for a man to wear.

Oh my goodness! What a lovely rose scent! I absolutely LOVE this fragrance! It smells elegant, romantic and distinctive, everything about it is just great. Even the note description is right on point!

I got acquainted with this perfume for the first time after revisiting Paris in the summer of 2022. It is such a beautiful scent, very feminine. It makes me relive the romance of an incredible city.

I find it with me very interesting because it is a clear spicy aroma at the beginning, then it turns, during the day I wear it, to a very gently soft settled fragrance on me, it is just lovely

Paris-Paris is divine. So classy, fresh and warm. Very romantic. Soft and feminine on me, but not girly. It looks and smells timeless. To me, this is what a classic beauty would smell like.

This in winter is absolutely magical. The most beautiful and ethereal rose fragrance for women. Also, if anyone is selling a new and unopened bottle (any size), please message me!

My favorite out of the Les Eaux so far. Fresh spicy rose with a splash of patchouli. Eventhough this is EDT, it seems to be much stronger than the rest of the collection.

I recently layered this with No 19 EDP. What a sublime combination! Longevity is outstanding, the scent outlasts most of the les exclusive parfums. Highly recommended

this reminds me of narciso rodriguez for her. with some chanelesque atmosphere, of course. the waxy trail on the dry down, maybe. really nice feminine scent.

The slight spiciness moderates the dominant rose notes. I imagine that this would be quite wearable for many people, irrespective of their sex or gender.

Pink pepper and bitter citrus radiates around the deep rosy core. Just enough patchouli to warm it up. Delightful and on my wish list.

Beautiful fresh modern chypre. Unisex leaning feminine with unfortunate poor longevity. An edp version would be great.

Stunning perfume. It's like Rose Amira's younger, lighter, brighter cousin made for warm weather.
