Eye, Hatshepsut

Eye, Hatshepsut is gorgeous on me and I’d buy it in a heartbeat if it wasn’t so weak and lacking projection. It lasts a moderate amount of time but only becomes the faintest skin scent within the hour that you have to push your nose into to detect.. Such a shame. It must be the Orris talking to me, but this reminds me very much of a less bright Tom Ford Violet Blonde, but without the pepper, iris or jasmine. The orris with the cinnamon, incense, patchouli, labdanum and musk make a most beautiful and sexy accord.

In the bottle I immediately get a big whiff of papyrus--resinous, papery, a little green--and then something like medicinal liquor...sticky, sweet, herbal, a hint of anise. On the skin it softens pretty quickly and while that herbal quality remains, it is overtaken by musk, lotus, and orris. A little powdery, more floral than I was expecting, but I can see where Cecile Hua's mind was at when creating this homage to Hatesheput.

I was so excited to get a sample of Eye, Hatshepsut, just today. Could hardly wait to put the sample in a decant sprayer bottle to test out. The notes sounded wonderful, and I'm fascinated by anything that has a connection to Ancient Egyptian culture and history. Unfortunately, for me, this is going to be washed off very soon. I'm getting a quite unsavory musk, mostly. This musk overshadows any other possible note on my skin. Eye, Hatshepsut seems to have good staying power (unfortunately for me) and medium sillage. Not for me, and I am sorry. Test before you buy! Believe me.

Eye Hatshepsut pulled the rug out from under me. It has a paper-y green herbal quality I would attribute to papyrus, since we're thinking ancient Egypt, and water lily/lotus. Dries down to a strange yet appealing sweet spice musk. It didn't fade, if I so much as gestured with my hand 1-2 feet from my face at any time that night, my nose was full of it again. This does not back down. An unusual signature for the right person. I will wear it again when I'm in the mood to cavort with this handsome, demanding, persistent foreigner.

Spicy, incensy, floral, musky, a tad green and woody, all adds up to a polite masculine from the 1970s, the sort of thing you'd buy on discount at Woolworths before a date at a miniature golf course.

It is quite similar to "Dangerous Complicity" by Etat Libre d'Orange with the rubber sweet essence.
