L'Insolent

This perfume seems somewhat like Giorgio but not as cloying or strong. The white florals are there center stage. If one mixed originals Nahema, Chloe and Giorgio, it is something like that, but with a smooth rich base, maybe that is the oakmoss people speak of, but I love the heart of it. I am testing an original vintage mini EDT. The opening is a little too sweet and too white floral for me but I appreciate it is a fine quality fragrance. For me, the dry down is very nice as it is richer. A very interesting perfume to try if you get a chance.

A very grown up perfume that has a fun, playful side. Dusty, green, slightly sweet fruit and dry flowers. I have the EDT version that is strong even though I just dabbed it on. Interesting stuff. The opening is a bit sharp, but then it turns warmer and deeper with wafts of alternating fruit, tuberose, amber and spice. I like it!

Dear Charles Jourdan, Why discontinue this Masterpiece of a perfume? It was my signature scent until I was no longer able to find it. Heavenly and addictive. Bring it back s'il vous plaît.

I love the patchouli in this. I love the whole perfume, but I adore the patchouli! It's gorgeous!!!

And The girl on the advertisement was Monica Bellucci, completely unknown at that time!

Yesss , i remember this one , i was child my teacher used to wear it ,, very unique and elegant ,very feminine and longlasting ! My only question is : WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD THEY STOP PRODUCING THE GORGEOUS PERFUMES ?!

Opening is a shrill mixture of fruits and flowers, a little sour and fermented. Unless the dry down changes completely, this one's a big no. I don't mind fruit and flower perfumes too much, but L. has too much going on at once. The pineapple note is the culprit with its fermented quality. Without the fruits this would be very nice. A muddled mess of a fragrance. Too bad, I really wanted to like this vintage.

Fragrance Review For L'Insolent Charles Jourdan Top Notes: Pineapple Mandarin Orange Cassia Peach Bergamot Middle Notes: Coriander Carnation Tuberose Orange Blossom Jasmine Lily of the Valley Brazilian Rosewood Base Notes: Amber Patchouli Musk Vanilla Oak Moss Cedar When wearing this 80's perfume bomb one thinks of opera singers that were also fashionistas and wore the latest by Oscar de La Renta, Versace and Givenchy. It reminds me of Kathleen Battle and Kiri Te Kanawa. This scent is glamorous and very feminine. Sure it's outdated but it's still selling out there in this world. I bought another bottle on ebay. This is a hybrid of fragrances like Giorgio Beverly Hills Nahema Guerlain and Ruffles Oscar de La Renta. It has a flexible nature: fruity party time fragrance and woodsy chypre formal evening wear perfume. The fruits are there from the start: delicious pineapple and peach. It has an opening a bit like Casmir by Chopard. Delicious fruit but with a ripeness and maturity. The scent then turns floral with jasmine tuberose and carnation. The other flowers are there too but it was mostly a tuberose. Very floral in the heart and more like a floral soap but still behaving like a perfume. It's not powdery or soapy. Just a perfume with a very fragrant trail as you walk around. The dry down has a lot of oomph and power which give this scent sillage and longevity. It has an aromatic patchouli that has a touch of incense. There's musk and woodsy notes. It's not unisex however because while the base notes are strong and there's a lot of wood including moss, it has a feminine chypre aura and the fruits in the opening keep it in the women's perfume department. This is glamorous and very pretty. It's like a 1980's vintage designer ball gown.

L'Insolent by Charles Jourdan is one of my most treasured vintage possessions. I came across this fragrance purely by chance as a friend tried to off-load much of her elderly grandmother's fragrance collection. L'Insolent was not a love at first sniff, yet over the years it has grown on me. L'Insolent is a big, 80s floral with a dominant peach accord. It brings to mind Giorgio by Giorgio Beverly Hills, however, L'Insolent is a much nicer blend of notes. Like many fragrances composed in the mid to late 80s, Charles Jourdan L'Insolent is a complex heavy hitter, so I try to limit the number of sprays before I leave the house. On my skin, the peach, carnation, pineapple, tuberose and amber are the most dominant notes. I get around nine hours of projection from this vintage beauty. L'Insolent is almost as rare as hen's teeth these days, particularly the older formulation bottles with the black ribbon detailing. I realise how fortunate I am to have L'Insolent in my collection, and despite its undeniably dated aroma, there's something luxurious and elegant about it. I enjoy wearing L'Insolent during the cooler seasons partly due to the bold projection, however, the fruity aspect could also play nicely in the heat. I am no vintage fragrance collector by any means, but for what it's worth, I find that older style fragrances like L'Insolent have an edge that is lacking in modern-day perfumery. They don't make them like they used to.

A captivating confluence of near over ripened peach, pineapple, and moss, L'Insolent has that same saucy panache that can be found in other floral ambers of this period (Cacharel LouLou, Scherrer 2), but it's the addition of a pronounced coriander note that counters all the sweetness and woods that I find tasty. There is this warm, woody pungency to coriander that complements the fruits and bridging them to the flowers and through to the mossy, musky, ambery base. Man, this has some exuberance. Just a few dabs on the hands fills the entire room and as I write this, Nu Shooz "Point of No Return" plays in my headphones, which was released the same year as this gem, how fitting. It's really setting a scene in my head of smelling this in the air at a hip dance club in 1986. Whiffs of tuberose dance within the fruit cocktail panorama of the club. Men and women share each other's fragrances and all is good in the world through my rose-colored glasses. Thanks, L'Insolence, I've been needing this.

My bottle is the black with ribbon. It is obviously vintage, discontinued beauty always call me for an adoption. I found 3 bottles, and I'm sleeping now with som sprayed on my bed sheets. At first, I thought it would be a relaxing smell, well, no no no, I was mistaken. This perfume giving me a boost and a kick even though it's my bedtime and I felt sleepy tow minutes ago! Top notes reminds me of L'arte de Gucci, but the middle notes reveals a vanilla note that makes it Gourmandy sweet. I think I'm in love

A very masculine opening with masses of oakmoss. Fruity and woodsy notes starts appearing. Corinander is quite strong. And suddenly a clear mintnote is poping up from nowhere. After drydown it softens and a little bit of sweetness is now present. It is a very odd perfume - but captivating. It takes a long time untill it settles down to a wonderfull fragrance (hours) but it is well worth the wait. And I remember smelling this when I was young - must have been quite popular at the time.

Edt in black .First impression : what the heck ?Oh Lord, another huge mistake :'( After drydown : my God thank you ,thank you ,thank you..... :-) A big thank you also for the good reviews that helped me take the right decision. Such a beauty ! P.S. Have tried to wear it days back and now I find it v similar to Blonde ,but in the dry down more elegant and classy.Will have to check my first impression again in summertime as my first encounter with it was in warm days.

They did it again...and they did it very often in 70-ties and 80-ties. Spoiled with aldehydes something that could be a beautiful perfume. I bought that vintage piece because of the beautiful notes listed here. They are really there, but you have to wait an hour or two till the sharp smell of aldeydes go away. Yeah...another nice bottle on the shelf. Thank god that I like to collect vintages, so it has found its place there. :)

Guerlain must have considered this perfume while making insolence.It's very very rich,powdery,creamy,powerful and full of feminity.it reminds me Giorgio by Beverly hils.Both are definitely classic.but L'insolent is a bit more on the grass and woody notes.Max Gavary is very famous for the world wide perfumes and it's dissapointing to hear this one is discontinued.

Big, plasticky, cloyingly sweet 80s fruity/floral amber. Think big 80s hair, shoulder pad, heavy make-up, intimitating aura, demanding office boss. Smell very "of its time". The only way to enjoy this is to wear very very little otherwise it will be extremely stufficating.

beautiful if it hadnt so much oakmoss & aldehydes. Really want to like it but cant. =(
