Tres Jourdan

This is gorgeous. Both in presentation and smell. The bottle is unique and maybe the perfume was ahead of it's time. Could probably be re-classified as fruity-floral. It's a balmy spring evening here in Adelaide and I was just out in the garden when a lovely smell wafted my way. I wondered if it was one of my flowers or even the freshly washed laundry I'd just hung out, but then I realised I'd just put on a little Tres Jourdan and that was it. Really lovely. I don't know if many of todays literally thousands of fruity-florals are as good. If they are I wish I knew which ones they are, because I don't like that fake fruit chemical smell so much. Tres Jourdan comes close to capturing the joy of fresh flowers combined with sweet, lush fruits. It is discreet but some fragrances are so lovely it's fun to keep sniffing my wrist or waving my arm to keep the fragrance wafting around.

My bottle(s) say “Eau de Parfum Concentre..” It is simply another variation of Trésor... and the quality is similar to first Trésor formula..

06. January 2011 Launched in 1992? This could be easily as one of the nowdays floral-fruity fragrances, so consider it as somekind of the prototype of modern perfumery.. No wonder that when i have applied it today i wasn ́t excited a lot, but as i remember back in the days when i was a teenager this fragrance was quite unique. Partly because of the bottle, partly because of the scent itself. Laura Biagiotti ́s "Venezia pastello" smells actually quite the same, only more concentrated. When at first you get all the fruits the drydown is mostly all about peachy rose and lightest hint of tuberose. Actually it is still very nice but as i have written earlier,nowdays there are a lot of similar scents widely available, so this one has lost it ́s value and you ca buy something cheaper and more affordable. Nevertheless i still love it: partly because of the bottle, partly because of the memories, partly because of the fragrance itself :)) P.S. The lasting power is sadly not the best, on my skin it dissapears mostly after a half an hour sadly. I have to sniff it very close on my skin to detect it. UPDATE: (2015), now i also purchased a bottle of EDP concentree, and i like it more, than the EDT, it is more juicy and peachy, than EDT, which is more watery to my nose. Still like it, and i must say i was wrong by saying that this smells like a modern fragrance. No, it is not a modern sweet fragrance but at the same time it doe not smell vintage and one can easily wear it nowdays as well.

It took me a while to pinpoint it but I’ve finally figured out what Tres Jourdan reminds me of - it’s a dead ringer for Dial Gold. I’m not sure why, but I get zero fruity or floral notes from this fragrance. All I smell is dollar-store liquid soap. Perhaps it’s the musk overpowering everything else? I wanted so much to like Tres Jourdan, but to me it comes across as cheap, tawdry even, like some brightly colored discount dupe spray from a sales shelf straight outta the 90’s. If it’s not already obvious, suffice to say that Tres Jourdan isn’t for me. It’s especially disappointing because I love the bottle design and I bought it because it’s got a similar name to mine, but sadly this will never be my scent, signature or otherwise. If you like this EDT, hit me up on Poshmark because I have a nearly-full bottle that is never going to get used.

I get lots and lots and lots of oakmoss not listed as a note plus lots of grapefruit for a tangy woody mossy fragrance. The main floral is heliotrope that dominates with a hint of apricot but this scent isn't sweet or fruity. It is oakmoss, grapefruit, heliotrope, musk in that order. There's a sharpness from the cassis leaf also. This scent is a bit bitter.

This starts strong, almost in the range of Aromatics Elixir by Clinique. The first chord is a bold citrus scent with whisps of lemon zest striking a sweet/sour/tart type alto note. I smell Cassis, that is the most present note when I first sprayed this. I'm sampling a EDT splash now, so will see how this wears. This was another suggestion by my fragrance "angel". The bottle is unique and an artistic statement - in and of itself... stylish, fun, with a mosaic of bright spring colors - it is topped the the cap of a circular golden coil, which oddly enough looks almost like the copper coils I have seen that are supposed to shield EMF waves. The bottle looks futuristic, but was designed several years ago. It has that 1980's artsy theme happening. Cute, clever bottle design. This is definitely one to explore further. Cassis is one of the first notes that I noticed and oak moss. The notes of peach and honey are supposed to be the notes mentioned in the dry down of this perfume. There are mixed reviews, as with a lot of perfumes - it seems people either love this or not. In the past, I have had an issue where I can not wear Cassis. It doesn't blend well with my chemistry. It all depends on how much there is in a perfume. Still testing this, will report back - later. ---------- Final Verdict - My chemistry doesn't do well with cassis, is it horrid - it turns into almost a cat pee smell in a litter box. This is NOT for me! I love the bottle design, if I had more room, I would empty the contents, clean the bottle out with alcohol and pour another perfume into it, but I'm short on space right now. This is going to have to be a return.

There's no business like shoe business, unless of course it's the fragrance business. Charles Jourdan & Sons, synonymous with trend setting shoe designs, became highly recognized during the height of his career in the 60"s and 70's. Years later they unveiled theirs talents with Jourdans line of fragrances which was a huge success. Tres Jourdan is is Tres Chic! The refreshing opening with the shout out of apricot, orange and peach will have you walking on sunshine. The twist of lemon along with the sweetness of the raspberry continues that sunny feeling. The appealing floral middle with the emphasis on the the violet and jasmine puts an added spring to your step. Now enters the rose along with the tuberose and you begin to hope that this aroma will last forever. As you stroll into the dry down you are not disappointed as his mix of cedar, musk and the ever inviting vanilla gives you a sense of satisfaction and you feel like you made a wise choice by experiencing this scent. I find this fragrance to be moderate in strength and its life is about 5 to 6 hours. I am impressed with this perfume as much as I am with the presentation of the extraordinary angled glass bottle design trimmed in a colorful ribbon pattern. Jourdans avante- garde style is reflected in his perfume and I, no doubt give it a thumbs up! So set aside your Manolos and Choos, bring out your red sole retro Jourdans, and try this unique fragrance, it's kick!

Tres Jourdan by Charles Jourdan is an oldie but a goodie. It reminds me in many ways of another more popular scent, Tresor by Lancome. Both fragrances feature an array of fruits with a musky, classic drydown. Tres Jourdan is, however, a much smoother blend when compared to Tresor. The most dominant note to my nose is peach. I rather enjoy the scent of peach in fragrance compositions as it tends to pair well with floral and/or woodsy accords. The peach is further complemented by apricot, raspberry and orange, creating a bright, effervescent opening on the skin. The heart and drydown has a somewhat vintage feel with a hint of powdery florals and dusty cedarwood. This fragrance's complexity and the vast array of notes make it obvious to even an untrained nose that this is no modern-day release. They don't make them like this anymore. At the very beginning of my fragrance journey, some ten years ago, I bought Tres Jourdan along with many other vintage scents pre-dating 1995. I am so very glad that I did, as I have had the pleasure of smelling so many great fragrances that have become increasingly rare over the years. Tres Jourdan for me is everything that I had hoped Tresor would be. It's a pity that this fragrance didn't quite reach the same legendary status.

Based on EDP vintage mini version. This is peachy and floral in the way that the heliotrope envelopes the hint of raspberry and citrus together with that peach accord. I love this. Imagine a happy scent worn by that woman who exudes bright calmness it is just perfect. An interesting fruity perfume that doesn't give you that cheap fruity scent we sometimes get from commercial brands these days. Can be worn anywhere and it would feel uplifting to anyone who smells it.

Balmy indeed, the rosenote is predominant in the opening. From its composition I would have guessed it to be a 70:s perfume. (I have a vintage mini maybe some notes are gone). A little bit fruity but and after the drydown the vanilla and mysk starts appearing. Then a wonderfull smell of fruit covered with golden honey ends this georgeouse fragrance. 90:s was a great perfumedecade.

i had this when i was in the university back in 1993. given by my dad as a birthday present. loved it.
