Cosmic Power

I was prepared to dislike this because of the reviews and the dreadful marketing. I had been enjoying a sample of Babycat and I wanted to try out some of Dominique Ropion's other creations that were similar. Cosmic Power was on the list. After testing on a card and letting it sit for a day, I tried it on skin, still expecting to dislike it. Then it became something I couldn't live without. Cosmic Power filled a little empty spot in my fragrance world that had been overlooked. For me, the rose and powder peeking from behind the prominent spices make the perfume addicting. Heady, spicy fragrances intentionally convey the exotic and unfamiliar, but rose and powder smell comforting and like home. It feels as if home, the safest place in the world, was in a wagon in a spice trader's caravan. The scents could easily clash, but to my nose the rose just peeks out from behind cushy, ornate, satin pillows, followed by the comforting ease of the powder, while the cinnamon, elemi, and frankincense continue dancing around. As the perfume dries down, hours into it, the scent does take a masculine turn. It is reminiscent of aftershave or spicy men's soap from the 1960s and 1970s, smells I always loved, but would never have considered wearing. By then the scent is soft, although I find myself missing the hint of rose from earlier. A lot of men could probably wear this. Cosmic Power lasts over a day on paper, but on skin it is noticeable for 5-6 hours before becoming a skin scent which itself fades after 8 hours or so.

I was on the hunt for something cinnamon, spicy and affordable. Something unisex or even masculine leaning. I ran out of Tobacco Vanille and didn’t want to fork over the money for a new one yet but wanted something with the same vibes. I spotted the CT line in a corner behind a sign at Sephora; totally not expecting to like it. Cosmic Power was love at first smell and the price was a bonus! The sillage is better than most of the bigger houses. Definitely recommend if you are looking for something in the spicy gourmand family.

I wore this to an interactive Night At Bethlehem experience because of the frankincense note and overall mystical vibe and it was perfectly placed in that setting. Standing in front of a fire with a facsímile of the Roman Empire around me and a baby pretending to be the god child in a pop up manger, I felt appropriately immersed by the addition of this perfume to the mix. I felt like an HBO Max version of a biblical times peasant woman.

When I initially sprayed this, I thought it would be too spicy and strong for me. But just after 5 minutes or so the most beautiful cinnamon, ambery, vanilla, peppery notes comes forth. It is soooo good. This is currently in my top 5 favorite perfumes. I even wish it could be darker, a leather note would probably make this even better and complete. It also does not last too long, which is a minus.

If you forget the marketing it’s a really beautiful fragrance. A powdery,spicy rose almost herbal in a certain way. You can recognise the Dominique Ropion’s signature . To me its like a rosy version of Alien. The evolution is more complexe than it seems at the beginning. Great quality, i didn’t expect that !

I love this fragrance. I didn't want to, because I do find the promotion very odd. But it's so warm in the beginning, and dries down to a nice spicy, powdery smell, which I adore. It's not crazy long lasting, but I don't even care.

It’s very nice and very unique for a mainstream brand. Leans niche and easily unisex. The more I wear it the more I like it. Mystical smoky quality makes it really enjoyable

This is a balsamic, spicy mix - I swear I smell a lot of patchouli in it. It smells like a luxurious hippie. The colour is a great pick because it is a very whimsical scent

Sweet incense, vanilla and a touch of fresh pine. Like having a cake and a tea with cinnamon in the middle of the forest with Alicia. Not for all tastes, I love it

I love this fragrance so much, it reminds me of a witch sipping on some dr pepper while listening to three cheers for sweet revenge by my chemical romance 10/10

I would like to start my review on Cosmic Power by stating that I am not necessarily a fan of Charlotte Tillbury’s makeup, public persona or anything related. I am not a hater either. But I definitely dislike the shape of the cap on all the bottles from this release. It’s really unique and ugly to me for some reason. Hope I don’t come across as being petty because of that.. I am sampling Cosmic Power, Joyphoria, Calm Bliss and Magic Energy from CT official samples so I know I have the right juice. Sometimes a sample doesn’t offer the same perfume experience like testing a perfume from a full size bottle but these perfumes are too expensive to blind buy. With all that out of the way, I have to admit that I do like Cosmic Power. I mean, it’s my style of perfume: vanillic, ambery, resinous, incense, warm spicy, with hints of florals, citrus and powderiness. All this sounds a bit more complicated than the perfume actually smells like, but it smells really good. In order for me to purchase a bottle of it, I need it to be more beefy, intense and long lasting. Because as beautiful as it smells, it’s very subtle and flat on my skin unfortunately. Smells quite generic and done before better, inspired by.... None of them are truly unique scents. The four I have samples of at least! For Cosmic Power she had the master perfumer behind perfumes like Vanagloria and Babycat working, and while I do see some similarities, vaguely, it’s a flop in my opinion. It’s a perfume in the same vein, it’s not a dupe of any of the two mentioned above. Dominique Ropion does magic with vanilla, ambers, spices, resins and incense. This is a cheaper smelling version of those two mentioned above. And costs nearly as much as Vanagloria, which is nuclear in performance compared to Cosmic Power. Cosmic Power lacks the power to last well or project decently. It’s close to being a skin scent within an hour on me. It’s far from being anything related to the word “power”. It’s pretty but definitely overpriced in my opinion. I would not buy a bottle, that’s for sure!

I received a sample of this and am surprised by how much I like it. The like was toned down a little when I saw the price tag so hopefully this will be discounted sooner rather than later. To me this is a beautiful warm amber. The cinnamon, which I often find a little harsh on my skin, is blended beautifully and adds a warmth. The rose gives it a splash of tartness. I don't get a lot of pepper but maybe a bit of an edge of sharp angles. The elemi, vanilla, and frankincense combine to create a warmth. I get a bit of a root beer scent to it as well and I'm not sure what notes are giving me that impression. Although they don't exactly smell alike (yet do share some notes), this gives me the same feeling as Putain des Palaces which is one of my favorite fragrances. I can see how Cosmic Power is represented as being witchy but to me it is pure winter time comfort.

The low ranking on this is unfair. It leans a little bit niche, and may have been a surprise to people that like designer perfumes. I also get that people dislike Charlotte Tilbury, and disliked the advertising for this line, and that the bottle is not attractive. The fragrance itself though? It’s lovely. And was designed by a master, Dominique Ropion. For me, Cosmic Power is a spicy, chocolatey amber with a thread of seductive dark rose. Under all that are some gorgeous powdery makeup vibes. It’s not super long lasting, but I get about 6 hours from it with decent sillage at about 4 sprays, and that is fine. After that 6 hours a beautiful violety powder lingers as a skin only, no sillage, scent for many more hours. So to everyone that hates it, thank you- I will snap up another deeply discounted bottle before it gets discontinued.

It’s like someone took a niche fragrance and smoothed all the corners off to make it very easy to like whilst still quite interesting. I get a good dose of spices and brightness with it. It’s a lively fragrance but has some depth to it. Settles into an amber musk. The incenses are there but it’s not an incense bomb by any means. I would blind buy a small bottle of this as a stocking filler/secret Santa who likes deep fragrances like Shalimar, Babycat or anything amber. I would never have tried it had I not been given a sample but it’s way way better than I thought it would be. Nice scent projection, not overpowering but present with good longevity for a fragrance at this price point. I was surprised

Quite a powerful title that doesn’t reflect the composition in the slightest. Vanilla-cinnamon, warm, sweet, spicy, amber fragrances have been done better for cheaper, but this isn’t half bad. Projection’s alright and the scent isn’t too assertive. The bottle is hideous and the marketing is so bad it’s good. Charlotte Tilbury is hilarious, but I can’t tell if we’re supposed to take it seriously. It’s kind of camp. Reading the background & details on the website after a blind try-on was bonkers. “Cosmic Power” is not all that. This sample was the first I tried from the discovery set, and I don’t want to let the below reviews influence me too much. 7.5/10; this will be pawned off to a friend.

I received the discovery set yesterday and decided to test each one out on the skin. I am wearing Cosmic Power today and find that it sits close to the skin on me. It's not a bad fragrance but I was looking for something that had a tad bit of projection and this one does not at least on me. I also find that this line leans more on the female side even with some of its more domineering fragrance notes listed. It's not strong enough and has a nice balance of softness to them that makes me believe that these are more female leaning than anything. My least favorite is More Sex (or whatever its called) but this one is okay, I don't think I would purchase a full bottle maybe the travel size.

Based off of first impression: I'm sampling this now for the first time. Let me start off by saying that I thought this was going to smell like the name, the merchandising, and the bottle suggests. Sadly, it doesn't smell like any "cosmic power". On the other hand, out of the six in the series, this is one of the best ones in my opinion. There is something slightly dirty at the beginning though, it's in the background. In the foreground, you sense a sweet, resinous and maybe spiced vanilla. It's pleasant overall, but I do not think it justifies the price point. Not at all. These perfumes lack originality as they smell like dupes of other popular pricey frags.

When I first tried this scent in store I couldn’t tell if I liked it or not but was compelled to buy and try it in a more intimate setting. At first I thought I had made a mistake - on first spray it gives a very forward herbal and cinnamon scent, that almost reminded me of a medicine I had as a child that I couldn’t stand. It’s bitter and aggressive, and as much as I enjoy cinnamon, it does not help the herbal/medicinal opening. However... the dry down is SO beautiful, exactly what I like and wanted out of this scent, and if I have to get through the initial scents to achieve those I’m happy to do so because this perfume lasts FOREVER.

On first sniff, very resinous. I got frankincense and a balsamic note. Also slight peppery spice but more in texture and warmth than fresh cracked black pepper. Unfortunately, this fades very fast. I wore it out for an appointment and couldn’t smell it on myself or my sweater. I reapplied after and even that I can only smell if I put my nose to skin. Although the deep drydown is faint, I get a smoother, slightly powdery vibe. I think fall/winter is the right season for this but probably a warmer day in those seasons would help it project a bit more.

OK. I smelt this and knew I’d smelt it somewhere before - but not for a long time. Estée Lauder Sensuous Noir. I really enjoyed that fragrance and for me, from this current crop of Charlotte Tilbury frags; this is the only one which I like enough to buy a full bottle of. It has all of the elements which I like in a perfume, just mystified there is no patchouli kicking around in there - which Sensuous Noir had. The rest of the Charlotte Tilbury fragrances with the exception of the Green one - Magic Energy are not for me.

Lovely frankincense, cinnamon and lots of quite a few notes. Quality of the ingredients seems very good. It is nice to smell, but sometimes there seems to be too much of everything and it comes off as unsophisticated. As it dries down, not as nice as first 15 mins. But also, it makes me stare off into the distance and think about happy school holidays as a child. So interesting. One to come back to. A perfume that makes me feel like I’m having a white Christmas is the middle of Summer.

This is my close 3rd favourite of the new Charlotte Tilbury perfumes. I’m actually planning to purchase for someone I know who will adore it. My notes on trialing it was at first it’s powdery and a little musky but on dry down it’s giving luxury Christmas party, I’d say the frankincense, cinnamon and amber are the standout notes on my skin. Christmas in a bottle, little bit dry, musky, spiced and warm.

It’s a sweet aromatic fragrance with lots of refreshing spices like black pepper (or maybe even cardamom) and woody/vanilla base. I like that it’s both sweet and fresh, however, it has a bit of strange animalic undertones (slightly dirty ones), I’m not sure if it was made on purpose or it’s just somewhat imbalanced composition. This smells like Angel to me but without the chocolate. The patchouli is the dominant note and is the same patchouli in Angel. This sweetens up after a while and becomes a vanilla and patchouli scent with a hint of spice from the cinnamon. Probably the strongest and best of the collection, the rest are weak and underwhelming

old grandma vibes but with class. mysterious and alluring. I love how spicy the opening is but it dries down too sweet for my taste. I can tolerate it, but it’s not for me. 6.5/10

A fleeting and ethereal scent. A warm, sweet, delicate opening that quickly hid from me. Then, notes faintly perceptible close to the skin, sweetish, without distinct nuances.

Smells warm and almost "crunchy" in the sense that it almost feels like rock candy in your nose. I'm in no rush to buy it, but it's nice enough.

On initial spray, all I could smell was straight alcohol, but the dry down only get better. That amber/vanilla/powdery smell is just beautiful.

For my nose, this is a heavily watered down version of the voluptious Carolina Herrera's "Gold Incense" masterpiece

Possibly my second favourite of the Charlotte Tilbury fragrances. Lots of cinnamon, which is a note I enjoy and which I feel doesn’t appear too often. This is accented by black pepper (another I enjoy) and underlying frankincense. It’s spicy and sweet, incensey; I can definitely see why it’s called “cosmic” since it brings to mind dark starry skies and spiritual considerations. It reminds me both of head shops and churches simultaneously. As it settles I pick up hints of rose and bergamot, although to my nose they’re not strong. There’s also a creaminess from the vanilla, a warmth from the amber, and a touch of powder, which help to bring the whole thing together. It becomes muskier as it fades. All in all, I think this one is pretty good. It lasts and projects reasonably (which can’t be said for all of the options in this range) and the scent profile goes beyond basic. A pleasant option for colder weather, and unisex to boot.

At first spray I am not gonna lie it was so potent that I had to stop smelling it and take some space away from my wrist. It made me almost gag because of the unexpected mix notes here. It’s sweet, yet herbally and peppery. This scent hits you with an interesting herbal mix of cinnamon and frankincense. As it dries down it becomes more pleasant and strangely starts to remind me more of a cinnamon apple cider. Still alongside with it is a strong scent of amber and frankincense. I love the amber and sweet notes of cinnamon coming through, I also give this scent props for being pretty unique even though it verges on being too all over the place. I think it is best when it fully dries down and the notes all start to settle with each other. However, I honestly really dislike frankincense so for me this perfume cannot work. Not a safe blind buy whatsoever, but worth a shot to sample!

didnt really go out of my way to buy a tester i just so happened to be gifted it with another purchase and with most things CT, i didn’t take it too seriously. lol, it opens with a warm cinnamony amber blast before quickly transforming into a sweet, woodsy vanilla. the vanilla feels light and airy, with a coniferous resin note that gives it a subtle, mossy forest like depth. all in all, it’s actually not a bad fragrance. that said, the opening can come across a bit tangy before it settles into something more pleasant. sadly, the projection is disappointing, and the bottle design doesn’t help but nobody does tack better than CT.

This is probably the best of this line of fragrances as it is the best blended and most interesting. It's got good lengevity and sillage compared to other CT fragrances. The rose scent peeking through the spices is very pleasant. That said, there are better examples of this type of fragrance.

The powder is so overwhelming—it reminds me a lot of the powder my grandma would use after a bath. And I mean that in a bad way. I was hoping for a nice scent similar to Black Opium but this smells cheap and old lady-ish. At least the packaging is pretty... I guess.

Very dark, reminiscent of tobacco & vanilla situation. I don’t get any freshness from bergamot, it smells like the inside of an Eastern Orthodox church. Suffocating, a big No from me sadly.

am i the only person who got an animalic, sweaty top note? i couldn't stand it, but i do like the dry down. reminiscent of a tom ford fragrance, woody amber & peppery

When I first read the descriptions of Charlotte Tilbury's new line of perfumes, I figured Cosmic Power would likely be my favourite. It is the final of the six CT scents for me to try, but unfortunately, I was wrong. A spicy-amber scent with some powdery rose, it is the kind of scent profile that appeals to me, but it disimproves greatly during its drydown phase, becoming a generic, synthetically-sweet musk. Overall, it is nothing groundbreaking, and I've smelled much better versions of such scents, often at a cheaper price point too. CP is spicy from initial spray, with warm, sweet cinnamon prominent up top. The balsamic amber accord follows, forming the backbone of this scent. The vanilla helps it along, smooth and sweet. The opening is easily the best part of CP, but it quickly runs out of steam. The synthetic musk that permeates this line of scents emerges after a while, adding body to the sweet amber accord as this scent progresses. I don't get any rose or real incense. As it settles, it becomes almost unbearably sweet, with cheap, almost plasticky, synthetic vanilla becoming very prominent, melding with the synthetic musk. I really dislike this phase - disappointing, as CP starts off with reasonable promise. It remains like so as it fades, with a chemical cashmeran haze evident at the drydown phase too. Sillage and longevity are moderate. It is an autumn/winter scent, unisex in the manner of spicy-amber scents. Not bad, if generic up top, but the drydown of CP is a big let-down. Ultimately, it is a mediocre example of its genre that brings nothing new to the table and smells cheap. 1.5/5.

Weird, cloying and cheap smelling. Sorry, that's my opinion. Made me feel nauseous. I think its missing something to make it grounding.. maybe that's why its called cosmic power because I want achieve astral projection to get away from this smell. It has a sour medicinal smell like a little hint of mint or eucalyptus that makes it smell like a tiger balm or a Chinese herbal store. Disappointing and weird. With the brand reputation and nice bottles I was so excited to give these a try and bought the sample pack. It was the worst perfume purchase I ever made. The names themselves should have been the first red flag the scents are either chaotic or too simple and cheap. Ok so I went back to the shirt I sprayed it on the next day and whatever was left behind was much more modest than the assault it gave me the day prior. Maybe that’s what everyone else is smelling. It’s was a faint powdery musky frankincense... but the opening was too overpowering and gross for me

My sister gave me samples of the Charlotte Tilbury line and unfortunately this one is a miss for me. I don’t hate it but I find the opening very off putting. It may come into its own in cooler weather and I’ll probably give it another shot as the dry down isn’t too bad. However, at first spray I kinda wanted to wash this off. The opening is very loud and you immediately get a blast of cinnamon and frankincense I found it quite overpowering. Dry down is much smoother and less aggressive. Definitely not one I’ll be purchasing.

I received a sample of this, and I enjoyed trying it out...But I am definitely not a fan. The opening is black pepper, cinnamon, and rose. For me, the rose stays throughout with the smokiness of the frankincense shining through. I get moderate sillage and moderate longevity. The opening just does not agree with my nose; to me, it's almost a sour, musty, rose scent with some spice thrown on top.
