Magic Energy

Lovely balance of cozy and woody while maintaining an overall fresh, light, and clean feel. Very safe. Great for sensitive noses. I don’t see a ton of loves so far, so I am happy to jump in and say that this to me is an instant LOVE in the opening with a bit of a lackluster drydown. I tend to enjoy unisex freshies that have a woody or other grounding base note. I love that this balances aquatic notes and a dewy forest note, as well as approachable white florals. I get a watery jasmine quite strongly in the opening along with the resinous nuances. It hints at Santal 33 for 0.25 seconds before it turns into something entirely different. It would seem fully unisex, but there is a creamy sweetness from the cashmere wood which pulls the balance more cozy and feminine. It feels like a walk through a forest toward the ocean. A heavy spring downpour just stopped and the sun is starting to warm up the dewy flowers that are blooming on the path. I will say, the opening is fantastic and had me carting a full bottle but the dry down is very, very weak on my skin. I’m not one to complain about longevity and sillage because I love skin scents but just know that you’re left with a watery cashmere that is a bit generic and barely-there. I wish the resinous and woody notes had better longevity. I still find it enjoyable, but I would find this better in an office setting. On the weekend when I want my fragrance to be a whole experience, I think it is worth experimenting with layering with a white leather (BDK Crème de cuir), tea (Floraiki One Umbrella for Two), creamy sandalwood (Phlur Somebody Wood), or musky wood (Le Labo Gaiac 10). I am buying a bottle since I live with someone who is very sensitive to fragrances. Otherwise, it would be too weak - even for me!

I am impressed 🥰 I got this sample from their advert campaign. From the first sniff I could tell it felt like a déjà vu from the times I was using Light Blue Dolce and Gabanna ( the one from my favourite list). I did a bit of research and compared the ingredients. (See below) The DGLB's lemon in CTME's bergamot oil..., then, the same Jasmine I smell in both, finishing with the woody- cashmere-ish base notes which both are sharing. With that in mind, it laid so well on my skin, and also revealed some subtle sweetness. It kinda cuddled my wrist in a pleasant mode. The only downside is that it's fading fast, probably because I sprayed it only once. I had received 3x 1.5ml samples in the mail as part of an influenster campaign, and to be honest I did not know it was not released for sale at the time, but I've already gone through all my samples and find myself wanting more, only to realize I will have to wait until the 30th (Not to mention the time it will take to ship). I don't know what other reviewers are on about. This is a unisex fragrance but more feminine leaning. Yes, it does have more woodiness than the average woman's fragrance. However, this is what makes it all the more unique. I love how the notes of seaweed, cypress, and bergamot come together to create this unique freshness that peeks through the palo santo wood. Not to mention the Frankincense giving it a subtle but sexy spiciness to it, and finally I feel like the Cashmere wood is caressing each and every scent on this perfume to giving this perfume a sexy, refined, fun appeal to it.

Don't understand the hate towards this fragrance. Although it's designer, this perfume is what got me into exploring niche scents in similar category. It's a green and aromatic, perfect for fall and winter but really could be worn all seasons. The cypress and seaweed combo is heavenly and the bergamot gives it just the right amount of freshness. It's also not vegetal, but it gives a nature-like feel that gives a feeling of taking a stroll through a fancy neighborhood with high coniferous trees close to a lake. 8.5/10

Always wanted a pine themed scent and I finally got what I was looking for! It’s fresh, it’s earthy, it’s aromatic, it’s just perfect for when I want something fresh but not aquatic. Also: pair this with Spearmint and Eucalyptus from BBW and thank me later

My favorite of the group from CT. Just love this woody cashmere scent! Such a nice scent for spring... got a 10ml but think this will be full bottle worthy. Longevity isn’t t great maybe 4-5 hours. But I really enjoy this one so I can just reapply.

This for me is the best from the collection! I find it unique green yet sweet! I only tried it in the house, I want to put it on in work to see how it feels on! But I like it :-)

this is a very nice fresh marine fragrance, i dont understand the hate at all. on me this dries down pretty fast into a salty coconut shaving type of smell, i enjoy it a lot

On my skin smells like the most beautiful sandalwood scent. Calming and luxurious smelling. I loove it and and I want the whole bottle😅🏡 Poor longevity

I'm not overly enamoured with Charlotte Tilbury's new line of perfumes. Between the tacky bottles and synthetic scents within, they hold little appeal for me, but I am intrigued enough to give them all a chance. Magic Energy in particular leans into the witch's potion theme of the CT perfumes, and not just the on-the-nose name - it is a green scent, slightly herbal, and such scents tend to read as witchy to me. ME is better than I expected - it is not a bad example of its genre, but is still too synthetic and strangely sweet to win me over. ME opens with tart bergamot, giving way to a pine-like accord. It is instantly appealing, green and fresh up top. Some dry woody notes follow, complementing the green notes nicely. The synthetic musk that permeates the CT scents follows, hazily sweet and dry. It isn't bad, but I dislike this kind of thing in perfume, and it eventually overwhelms the green notes. As it develops, an aquatic floral accord comes to the fore, clean and synthetic. There is a salty undertone, perhaps due to the seaweed and "ambergris", which gives a slight marine edge alongside the aquatic notes. However, it quickly becomes predominantly woody as it develops, with the musky cashmeran joining it, surprisingly resembling a cheaper dupe of Santal 33. It remains like so until it fades, cosy and dry. Sillage and longevity are moderate. It is feminine-leaning in my opinion, and is transeasonal. Bright and green up top, culminating in a cosy woody-cashmeran scent, ME is unexpected and ultimately not bad. One of the better CTs. 3/5.

This perfume was kind to my nose. It is a pleasant green perfume that is not very vegetable, fermented, or sour in anyway. It has a nice sweetness to it. It almost smells like a nice clean lotion. It is not super memorable or unique but it is nice and I think very inoffensive to wear. I do not really smell any of the herbal notes, to me the cypress, palo santo, and bergamot stand out more but blend nicely. I think this is a very safe blind buy but also not someone that hasn’t been done before.

I loved this, thank you non-binary Sephora worker for recommending me this. Seriously. lol. It's elementary and familiar to me. It's spicy/woodsy on my skin and more masculine, which I like despite it being unisex. I'm not really smelling the seaweed note in this (anyone else?) Too bad it doesn't last too long, but I did get a 10 ml it's whatever

So strange. On first whiff I thought "typical masculine charlotte tilbury DNA". After 10 mins or so I realized I kinda liked it and intended to make my husband wear it it. After an hour or two I realized I kept going in to deeply inhale my wrists, it was addicting! Not my usual type of scent but something about the dry down is like crack to me.

Dry aromatic herbs with some fresh (almost minty) undertones and subtle sweetness. It has a lot of synthetic woody notes, they’re not too bad but smell a little bit artificial for my taste. Not sure about seaweed but it definitely has some “wet note”, but I would describe it as a damp air in an old wooden lodge. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

I'm also really surprised with the amount of negative reviews here. It's a nice, fresh smell that leans maybe a bit much into sweet territory for me to be unisex, but I still enjoy it lots. The price is absolutely wild, and I would've never paid full price for it but I got it half off from someone who got it as a gift and didn't want it.

I got the 10ML I don't think I can justify a full bottle of any CT fragrances. They're pretty much like Kayali and over priced. This is nice. It's dissappeared on my wrist fairly quickly though. Musky pine is how I'd decibe it. Wear all but the summer. I'll see if it last longer on clothes.

If you guys like this one then you will love Viking Kashmir! I have both and the similarities are crazy. I feel like the Viking has the same smell on clothes but a little more earthy on the skin. It last longer that the CT as well. Anyone else smell the similarities?

This is fresh and uplifting, thanks to the cypress in the opening. The drydown is a bit sweet and musky but very pleasant. I'd say this seems unisex on paper but on skin, it reads more feminine.

Woodsy citrus, leans unisex. Very aromatic. Personally for me, this is the kind of scent that I’d rather smell as a candle or room spray, not as a personal fragrance, but it is still very nice.

I love the first 10 minutes of this. My mind goes to: witchy, forest, Stevie Nicks. Unfortunately this doesn't have longevity and runs out of steam after about an hour.

A nice green fragrance and the bergamot really comes through but, like with this entire fragrance collection by Charlotte, the price point is unacceptably high.

A very light, green-aquatic scent. At the opening, I had the impression of detecting a subtle coconut note. Very summery, fleeting, and delicate.

For a green scent it is very intriguing and doesn't smell like grass. Very forresty but refreshing if this makes any sense. A bit witchy

it's very similar to Santal 33 in the first 20 mins, but then it becomes too sweet on my skin.

This is a version of Coconut Fizz from Guerlain Aqua Allegoria. Not bad

Opens straight up woody, aromatic, bitter/fresh, with dried seaweed, faint hints of bergamot and palo santo. Jasmine is usually a strong flower in perfumes and I can detect it easily but not at all in Magic Energy. Might be somewhere in the background, more like a supporting note, alongside the other floral, the myrtle but I can’t really pick up on them. Frankincense is another note that is most likely used in here to contrast and balance the sharpness of citrus, the greeness of herbs and cypress leaves and to bring a touch of warmth to the overall composition. In a nutshell, looking at the notes listed, Magic Energy seems more complex it actually smells like. On me, this is a rather masculine scent, where the woods, the seaweed and the cypress and cashmeran are all at the front stage. As a pro, Magic Energy has a bit of distinct qualities and feels a bit more unique than the rest of the collection, that are very much inspired by very popular scents already availableon the market for years. I would not still not say that I would get a bottle (and that for my husband) even though it has more uniqueness than the others because just like the others in this collection, it is a poor performer. It’s not necessarily a skin scent, but it’s not far from that. For a similar price to Magic Energy’s, I am sure there must be something better on the market!

This fragrance is over hated. By no means is it a 10/10 fragrance, it has its issues, but the hate is over hyped. I am not a massive fan of the CT range but u do own this and also More Sex. Magic Energy being more wearable of the two. It’s a great gym scent, it’s not insulting and has a clean woodsy profile. I will say however, it is over priced like crazy. Definitely a unisex fragrance. Opens hard with the bergamot and dries down to a green Paolo santo skin scent. 3/5

I was excited to try this as I am on bergamot hit at the moment but the bergamot is extremely disappointing/invisible in this perfume. To me it smells like male aftershave, so a big no and it has no lasting power. The cypress is literally all you smell in this with a sprinkle of paolo santo. Way overpriced 2/5 it wasnt offensive but also didnt really enjoy it and lasting power is ridiculous, there is no dry down

I think I have tried all of this range now and none of them have wowed me - in fact some have been down right underwhelming. The performance on this though is poor, I am lucky if I get 30 mins from this which given the cost is outrageous. This opens with lovely citrus blast but I don't get a chance to appreciate any of the other notes as the fragrance has died by the time we get to the base. Disappointing

Very fresh and green, reminiscent of forests and moss. In the initial spray there is lots of bergamot and myrtle, but as it settles there is more of the cypress plus an underlying floral sweetness from the jasmine. It dries down quite woody. Very summery, quite delicate, a touch aquatic. Not especially memorable or unique, but a nice change of pace from the scents I have been wearing recently.

I love this sent. It’s fresh, aromatic, different. Really nice but unfortunately it doesn’t last on my skin and not even on clothes. It’s such a shame because it lasted for days on the paper I got in the shop to test it first. Good, unique sent but didn’t buy because even after using 2 small testsamples at once on my skin I smelled almost nothing on me.

The first opening it smells lovely, fresh and green. Like a herbal forest and a touch aquatic... Doesn't last too long though, because in about two hours it smells like fish left out at a hot outdoor market. Such a shame, at least mine was just a 10ml secret Santa gift, I feel sorry for anyone that bought the full size at its extortionate price.

I got convinced into buying this at an airport’s duty free last week, maybe it was my holiday excitement but this smelled a lot better in the terminal. The more I wore it through the week the more I noticed a sweet undertone that I don’t like very much. Will keep it obviously because it was expensive lol.

very green scent, a lot of cypress & a bit of bergamot. Pleasant & fresh but not unique & not worth a full bottle. Try layering it with sweet fragrances in the summer, could create interesting combos but not worth it on its own. I'll use the 10ml & won't repurchase although it's fun to play with.

this is one of the 2 best of this line (this and "Calm Bliss"). it's green, pleasant and free of anything offensive. i find it very common, though (as all the CT scents are) and I'd only recommend it for a safe gift or for the cute bottle.

If Pomona Sprout from Harry Potter would wear a Muggle perfume it would be this one i guess. Deep green, very herbal and witchy. I believe a lady with dark witch aesthetic can pull this off at all seasons.

Seaweed Beach Stank🤢 Here's the thing- I see what this fragrance is trying to accomplish. At first you get this light aquatic floral opening...then it hits you at back of your throat with the seaweed and ambergris🤜 Which shows theres a bad composition. It feels like this fragrance is trying to febreeze a fish market🎣I like how it's not cloying on the skin, but I don't sense anything magical about this fragrance☹️ If anything I'd convince this person to purchase Squid by Zoologist to have a better take on a ambergris fragrance, rather than the note being masked by white florals. Meh. I got a free 1.5ml sample and all I can say is that it reminds me of a 1990s aquatic unisex perfume. It's not unpleasant, it just has very poor staying power and I don't feel it merits the hefty price tag.

It was love at first sight. Unfortunately perfumes last way longer than that, which gives them ample time and opportunity to disappoint. And Magic Energy took all of it. This opens with a beautiful seaweed, slightly sweet in the back, salty without being fishy. It’s kelp that freshly washed up on the shore. It’s everything, and I’m a mermaid. Then an hour passes, now it’s a completely different perfume. There’s not a single trace of that kelp. There’s not even a hint that we’ve ever been anywhere near the sea. Beach? We don’t know her! Because now it’s the most generic jasmine, and nothing else. Emphasis on “generic” — it’s nothing remotely special or intoxicating. I love jasmine, it’s so hard to mess up, and yet Charlotte Tilbury managed exactly that! This was the only fragrance in their line that wasn’t repulsive, so perhaps they just absolutely had to find a way to butcher it — they must be allergic to good perfumery. I don’t have a clue how they managed to take a seaweed perfume and turn it into such a bad jasmine that no one would even buy it for that. It’s such a massive screw up, it almost deserves an award of sorts.

I enjoyed the opening - it smelled fresh and herbal, kind of like a minty astringent (even though mint isn’t listed). The dry down is something else entirely. Ever been on vacation and your resort has a beautiful beach, but the next day, it is covered in seaweed? It ruins your vacation just like it ruins this fragrance. I feel like this is something Plankton would spray on before he went to work at the Chumbucket. Hard pass.

I didn't enjoy this one or any of Charlotte Tilbury's perfumes. They were all headache inducing for me. I liked this one least. Not a seaweed fan. I'm selling the full travel size set on Mercari! Great for trying them all in one go.

Sounds very messy to me. Like if somebody couldn't decide between ocean or pine air freshener so chose violence. A scrubber on my skin, and the pine part is impossible to wash off

This smells exactly like Eidesis from Aesop and I smelled them side by side! Although both are unisex fragrances, this is leaning more seaweedy and aromatic thus feminine but it doesn't matter because their drydowns are the same. They are about the same price (≈60$ difference) and same longevity. It's all coming down to which one is easier to buy, I have to say ME because they sell it in travel size bottles. Scent wise I love both, for women they are ahead of their time because I feel that in a few years a lot of women are going to be done with having to smell like either flowers or food. I just hope they don't discontinue this because this is easily my signature scent. When I smell this, I imagine this is how Amy Winehouse would've smelled like, because there is a soulful earthy undertone that is young, grounded and strong but something is also dark, tragic and mysterious.

My missus recently brought in a few CT card samples and laid them out on the dining room table for me to smell. I think most smelled nice. But for the rest of the night I could smell a scent wafting through the house that really reminded me of something that I once owned. After a few hours I realised Magic Energy smells exactly the same as the original Royal Mayfair by Creed. I might have to buy a bottle as it’s so much cheaper than the rereleased RM.

My colleague wears this and it smells stunning on her! I was pleasantly surprised to hear that this is by CT and I would have never guessed. Myrtle is quite prominent here and I feel that this has been thoughtfully named and cleverly marketed in the emerald green bottle. As much as CT stuff are not my vibe, this is a very good effort and worth a try if you are into the foresty, mossy spectrum of perfumes.

Finally tested the range today at Sephora! First impression with Magic Energy is that it's slightly herbal, aromatic and plenty of woods. To my nose really similar to Wildly Me by Florence which is 1/3 of the price of this one. Only difference is that Magic Energy has better longevity and less powdery. Lovely, fresh everyday perfume for those who don't like floral perfumes.

Very masculine leaning. To put it simply, this smells like the colour green in a bottle. Can see this being a hit with earthy scent lovers . Whilst it’s not my favourite in the line, and not something I see myself reaching for, I can appreciate its creativity because its notes are very unique and original compared to a lot of current scents on the market.

I get a mimosa-like floral scent with a lovely incense/woody backing. I wish I got seaweed, but I don't detect that or even much bergamot. Still, the whole melange is seamless and I'm really liking those yellow honey florals combined with that soft back.
