Star Confidence

I'm a sucker for marketing and Charlotte Tilbury is a mastress in that. Her ads are enticing, spell bound and magical. Touch of luxury, sprinkle of esoteric essence and a pinch of fairy dust. Perfect and alluring - to me. The packaging is BEAUTIFUL. The bottle like an enchanted potion. Not the big BUT: I tried hard to love her products and none of them really spoke to me entirely. The fragrances are borderline bad to be honest. Especially Cosmic Power, but that's for another day. Today it's all about Star Confidence. Celine Dion is the face of this ad and I immediately tried the perfume it in my local department store. It's a beautiful Fruitchouli. Juicy in the beginning, sweet and enticingly white floral at heart, interwoven with light accents of herbalism in the dry down. Don't expect something innovative or groundbreaking with this scent. It really isn't, when you look past the fantasy. It IS a solid scent tho. To me it's a bright everyday perfume. Office friendly with indeed a nice scent trail. The projection is at arms length the first few hours and continuously leaves a a trail throughout the day. It lasts in my skin about 6-8 hours, which is fine, but nothing like it's advertised with 18 hours. Lol on clothes you can reach up to twelve hours. Overall it's a pretty perfume with a tried and tested scent profile, a DNA that has been used for decades. It's inoffensive and you can wear it year round to any occasion. Would I buy this without the marketing? Probably not. But it's pretty enough to be worn. I bought the 50ml and like the presentation and fantasy. If you enjoy Charlotte's Magic, get it on sale. If you're looking for a unique perfume as a signature, don't buy this. There are better options out there. Overall it's a solid release with crowd pleasing abilities.

Opening: A mossy trail through a midnight garden with tall weeping trees full of jasmine and some dark berries drooping off the bushes. That is the picture I get on first whiff. The fruit note is faint, definietly jasmine / garden / earth forward. I wish the berries and fruit pulled through more for a sweet and youthful profile. But sadly it does not. This is not a girls perfume, definietly smells mature to my nose. There is a grounding earth scent must be the oak-moss which adds a slight woodiness almost. The Patchouli is definietly there and becomes more present in the dry-down (which is unfortunate for me because Patchouli is not my favorite). There is something alluring and perhaps even expensive smelling about this. But I will be gifting mine away. I have floral / earth fragrances I prefer much more, probably because they are lighter or sweeter or more youthful. This feels too heavy for me.

The opening is very blackcurrant forward and immediately reminds me of Robinsons Squash smelled straight from the bottle, juicy and distinctly fruity. After a while, delicate jasmine joins in, along with a touch of davana, which subtly enhances the sweetness of the blackcurrant and adds a light aromatic nuance to the composition. In the base, oakmoss and earthy patchouli appear, but fortunately it’s not the heavy, cellar like type, but rather soft, slightly green and elegant. The composition is very pleasant overall and has something about it that reminds me of a summer forest after the rain. Unfortunately, the fragrance is rather fleeting. Longevity is around four hours, with moderate projection for the first hour, after which it quickly becomes a skin scent. A pity, because it’s truly a very enjoyable composition.

Zero longevity. My friend loves her More Sex and swears it last all day. This does not. It's a really nice scent too. Shame. Definitely not worth the money.

Testing Star Confidence from a 1.5 ml Charlotte Tilllbury official sample. It’s ok. It’s a honest fragrance to the notes listed, I will acknowledge that! But it’s nothing new and truly exciting. Jasmine, blackcurrant and davana are the standout notes to me, with patchouli and oak moss in the background. To my liking, it’s too syrupy sweet, I would have loved that the blackcurrants would have been more subtle and not overpower the jasmine. For the ladies that love a sugary sweet jasmine, Star Confidence will be perfect. It’s nice, but I don’t need it. Performance based on my sample seems to be moderate, average longevity and sillage. From my personal collection, it reminds me immediately of La Prima by Milano Fragranze, not saying that Star Confidence it’s a straight up dupe. But it is a fragrance built around the same idea, white floral, aromatic, fruity, patchouli. La Prima has more nuances and is less sickly sweet. Sadly, none of her fragrances are unique, they smell like many other designer releases from previous years.

Nothing new , very safe concoction from Charlotte. I tried from a sample my friend gave it to me , and we both like “it’s nice , but no , I wouldn’t buy it “. Nice means - soft flowers , little woodiness , synthetic jasmine and dovana . Overall sweet .
