Orient

A bright, warm flame gently burns from an old beeswax candle atop a dusty old shelf. Old yellowed books are scattered across the floor, incense smoke and the smell of ancient spices from a kitchen long untouched gently clouds the room. This is amazing. At first I was a little disappointed with the first few perfumes I smelled from this set, they smelled okay, old, nothing necessarily great, and so I hid them off, away in my dresser, where I just forgot to try the rest. Recently, I found them again, and it seems the few I tried were the weak links in the collection. I have a blue box, with red felt(?) lining, containing 12 perfumes, only one of which is still sold being gerine, if that says anything. Back to Orient. This is a masterful composition, smells absolutely ancient, in the best way. It smells like wandering through the desert and stumbling upon an ancient ruin. Waxy, dusty, spicy in a very natural, inoffensive way, and warm. I have been on a quest to search for perfumes that smell like the feeling of warmth, like comfort in it's purest form, like under the blankets on a cold day, and this is one of the few that nearly do it perfectly. So sad this is near impossible to find.

These perfumes have a delightful smell, you want to eat them with your nose. It is not gourmet in the current sense, but it is similar to oriental sweets, to praline without chocolate bitterness. Such is the exquisitely sweet honey-powdery-spicy life with the freshness of sweet citrus. The perfume is delicate, not heavy, although it is a true east.
