Weeping Rose

Some fragrances leave a more evocative or abstract impression. Such is the case with Weeping Rose--a scent that struck a chord and told a story: One foot in front of the other, you follow the flap and flutter of the crow that beckons you forward. The unknown path ahead is the only constant on this lonely journey, bringing with it the darkest, most confusing moments, when you strain to see or sense your winged guide. Sometimes the torrential rain unleashes against you and all you can do is crawl through mud so deep it threatens to drown you. Tender pink roses blossom around you, filling the orchard air. Your crow companion watches your contentment from a branch above. Weeping Rose is reminiscent of a moment of respite between the tears-- a cure for the weeping. It reminds me of a glimpse of the transformative light that always breaks through the darker moments.

OMG this is heartbreakingly good. It's that good. I haven't been THIS impressed by a rose-centric scent (excluding Rose de Jamal) in YEARS. The rose is upfront and the dominant force, but it doesn't have the standard 'acidic' element to it, nor is the cloying aspect there. These features are muted by resins, fruity apple and hints of orris. This is sooo well done. The levelling and proportions are perfect. I see myself buying this sometime soon. I'm convinced I love this, I really REALLY am. Next step is to wait a week or so, and then live in it. I need to forget what it smells and feels like, so when it goes onto my neck, I'll be able to say categorically what I feel about it. Is it a love or is it a like? So far, it's a 9 - 9.5 out of 10 -- it's THAT good.

The opening! I got amazingly fresh jasmine green tea with peach, sweet lychee.. omg.. I'm a goofy teenager in Haymarket trying bubble tea for the first time?! I teared up spraying this. I know these aren't the actual notes but that's what I got! And this opening lasts really long which is impressive for those smells. Then it dampens down into a fresh, grassy, only slightly powdery rose that doesn't make me queasy or smell "old". I wanted A La Rose by Maison Francis Kurkdjian for its similar effect at one point (the bitter grapefruit smell combined with the rose), but while this is almost the same price, it comes in 30ml instead of 70ml making it much more affordable for me. (I also rarely finish fragrances in time) Absolutely buying this for the summer.

Out of the bottle it’s almost sherbet-like; shockingly so. Then it settles and you’re left with a really, really jammy rose. The tea notes that Chasing Scents market themselves on ground the sweetness—give it an earthiness that makes me think of digging in a rose garden while the scent of rain threatens overhead. I wore this faithfully throughout a hot, Australian summer and really came to love the cloying nature of it in the humidity. It does not last long on me, which is a shame but I can’t say if this is due to the fragrance itself or something about my skin. Either way my bottle is finally finished and I will be repurchasing it.

What an absolutely gorgeous fragrance. So far I have demo'd two of the scents in this line, Tea Service, at Scent Bar, and now weeping rose....both winners! This opens with a burst of fresh vibrant confer green and tea rose. The green settles in the back seat while the rose stays forward lasting 6+ hours. it is as (tinsky 61 says) every element of a garden rose tied up in one stunning bow. I purchased samples from the whole line so will be reviewing them all but pretty confident I am going to want all 4 FB's!

Just absolutely stunning. This has become an unexpected favourite and I’m thinking about making it my signature scent. The opening is a very fresh vegetal rose, but it very quickly softens into a juicy and syrupy rose scent thanks to the apple. The powdery orris note has an incense-like quality without becoming overwhelming. A gorgeous, powdery, sweet dry down. I don’t like overly sweet fragrances so I’m really surprised at how much I love this. So unique and interesting!

The rose came out strong at the start but quickly faded, then wafted in and out for a few hours. For me the apple note was what stayed longest and strongest - I smelled like the most beautiful, fresh, juicy apple - and after a while the maple and vanilla came out to play. This scent was almost exactly what I was looking for - not too floral while still being very sweet. Points added because it managed to make me feel like the prettiest girl in the world.

I love this. Everything Chasing Scents does is incredible. This is not a strong floral-forward rose, it's a warm soft tea rose. It feels nostalgic and sentimental, especially for an Asian person, of a memory that doesn't quite exist. Perhaps it reminds me of an amalgam of different memories. Lovely to wear as a bedtime scent. Bought a small sample but definitely will get a full bottle.

I'm impressed with this. It's a bit like a teetotal version of Rose Tonnerre--with that mass of green stems and leaves--but it's sweeter and lighter. The opening is sweet rose, shortly drowned in photorealistic green -- the cool room of a florist, forreal! As it develops, the rose wafts in and out like a breeze through a garden window. Longevity is good on me. I'm down for spring!

This is such a cool rose fragrance. I get all apple and juniper berries on the open. When the scent develops I pick up the rose. I get a woody, kind of sweet dry down. I am not a huge fan of gin which is what the opening smells like, but I love this perfume on me. I am going to wear it around and see what I think. It is quite pricey to get if I am not sure.

Surprise favorite of the brand! I kept catching something dry & herbal, yet fruity & resinous in the background that elevates & outlasts the rose, which made me sniff my arm time and time again! *I now realize it's the apple & maple accords that makes me think of the original Apple Brandy by Kilian.

This to me smelled like a rose cocktail? Almost a bit boozy in a really elegant way, like dressing very feminine to a speakeasy listening to jazz and hoping to catch the attention of a wealthy man who can support your life style. To me this smells really sexy.

This is indeed an amazing rose -- very very impressive. I need to try this again, but for me, the first thing I felt was that there was some booze in this, possibly rum or cognac -- either way, it's really good. I need to try this again!

dusty rose with tea. reminds me of beauty tea with tiny rose buds in it, but instead of timid rose aroma this one packs quite a punch! its an unusual but pretty rendition of rose and i cant help but fall in love with this

Beautiful..the kind of scent that would be perfect for a windy spring day. It smells almost watery- not watered-down, but light and cool. Like if a rose were not a flower but a juicy fruit.. A rose I can really get into!

Weeping Rose is a soft rose scent which is fairly restrained and elegant and perfect for someone who wants a true rose perfume that is not too loud, in your face, or dominated by either oud or patchouli, neither of which it has. The beginning is graced by an absolutely lovely apple note, a very true round red apple, which is fun and unexpected. I’m not exactly sure why it’s there but I like it. The heart is the aforementioned true rose, a soft and friendly rose that is accompanied by a slight tinge of orris that brings in a little powder. There is also fig leaf and it adds some bitterness in the background to set off and counterpoint the velvety rose and the Iris powder, but in a mild way. Just enough to bring out their beauty. Nothing is overdone in this and everything is balanced and very smooth. The dry down keeps the rose although it gives way a little to a sweet woodsy maple and vanilla amber base. Still, the rose is the main note through out and the overall impression of this is class. A very classy and modern rose perfume. This is one I’d choose for Audrey Hepburn if she asked me to get her a modern rose perfume.

In the same way that I believe Rain Tea and Tea Service are sisters, I think Weeping Rose and Slow World are perhaps cousins. These two pull much sweeter, with the latter having an undeniable gourmand quality that I don't particularly favor. Weeping Rose presents a happy medium where the warm vanilla, amber, and maple notes do not upstage the namesake rose. This is, however, still a very sweet fragrance. I don't really get any fig leaf or orris root from this. The rose is the star here, complimented very tastefully by a punchy bite from the juniper berries and freshly-cut apple. There is something pungently woody here. I believe this is what gives Weeping Rose it's somewhat dry quality, and thus, places this perfume in the tea realm. It doesn't have the immediately recognizable bitter accord found within tea that Rain Tea or Tea Service do, but it definitely reads more tea-like than Slow World. Not a powdery scent as the orris root or tea rose might lead one to believe. Definitely pleasant, but I prefer other fragrances from brand more.

Sparkling apple and rose Reminds me of apple cider with rose and a warm amber glow, sparkling and slightly sweet with a touch of earthiness from the orris root. Really wears best in spring when the temperature is not too hot or cold, just right. Longevity is great wore it on a day warm day out, could still smell it 8 hours later and it also projects very well. The price for 30ml is not bad at all. Overall if you enjoy sparkling and refreshing vibes from your fragrance and you're okay with rose then this is well worth it, It's not a love, but a very strong like for me. 7/10

A beautiful rose steeped tea with woody tannins and the subtle sweetness of dehydrated apple. I grew up in rural Japan for some of my childhood, and this fragrance reminds me of a mysterious teahouse we would sometimes drive to, high up in the mountains near town. The teahouse was made mostly of glass (including its ceiling) and served a wide variety of organic fruity teas. It seemed to always be surrounded by mist and rain. Weeping rose brings back these dream-like memories of drinking tea in the clouds.

This one takes you on such a journey. Crisp rose with a hint of something sharp and fruity dominate in the beginning. Then a very soft tea note bubbles to the surface with a vanilla amber base. The rose is never lost, but it does lose its initial juicy sharp crispness which I miss. It’s a soft understated rose, a rose for snuggling in bed and watching Jane Austen movies. Lovely, but short lived and close to the skin which I must say does rather suit it? I’ll reach for this when I want a cozy rose scent.

I really liked this one, but not for the reasons I expected. I didn’t get the apple note, that steeped rose tea was definitely there, but the juniper and fig leaf were the real stars of this scent! It gave me the vision of sipping on a hot cup of rose tea while sitting outside on a balcony in the middle of a pine forest on a cold, early morning. The conifer scent is sharp, fresh, crisp, and I feel its intensity overshadows the rose at times.

The combination of apple and juniper creates a slightly boozy feel, as if, after a long winter, you’ve stepped into a room where apples from the autumn harvest are beginning to ferment. There’s also a distinct dry leaves aspect at the opening and in the drydown, reminiscent of Tepidarium by Cale. A fun experience, but not worth a full bottle for me.

This is quite a fruity rose. It doesn't say it in the notes but I get a lychee note as well. Really dewy, a bit syrupy and sweet. Very inoffensive and pleasant to wear year-round, I like it.

I was hoping for a fresh and invigorating rose scent (in the vein of Dyptique L’Ombre dans L’Eau, d’Annam Da Lat, or Mark Buxton A Day in My Life), but the vanilla, maple, and amber in combination with sweet apple in Weeping Rose take it into caramel-adjacent gourmand territory, and in the heat of summer I am finding the sweetness very cloying. The fuzzy fig leaf and powdery orris aren’t helping. I don’t detect tea or juniper. I’ll try again once it cools down in fall. These are sweet, dried, oxidized rosebuds—not fresh roses. It’s kind of giving me a more gourmand and complex version of B&BW Covered in Roses. If this rose is weeping, it’s maple syrup and cajeta—not dew.

ouuuu first impression this is not for me. its overwhelmingly woody, very dry and dusty. almost like the inside of a sauna. theres a bitterness, too, i think due to the fig leaf maybe? i thought that thered be a more prominent rose tea scent, but theres just like a whisper of rose in the background and a similarly faint apple cider note. the rose only starts to come through about an hour later, and even then its more of a dry, preserved rose petal, rather than a juicy, rich rose bud. sad that im not getting the same beautiful apple and rose everyone else does :(

This opens with a fresh and sparkling rose tea smell mixed with a juicy apple, reminiscent of a Fiji apple. It’s fruity, floral, and airy. The juniper berries here are too strong for my liking, but they’re herbal and fresh. The heart has hints of some iris but it’s predominantly a very sweet rosy smell. The rose here is very in your face floral which isn’t my favorite unfortunately. The dry down has a warm sweetness to it with a prominent maple note and remnants of that rosebud tea.

The first time you ever laid eyes on the love of your life was in Istanbul, at a little winding alleyway tea house. You had washed your hands in rosewater and fig soap and had just pressed the steaming little glass cup of tea up to your lips when you saw them emerging from the used bookstore adjacent to the tea shop. There was something striking about their eyes, their smile-- and in their hands, they lovingly held a copy of your favorite book.

I love the opening of this. It’s so fresh, light and fruity sweet. It quickly becomes quite leafy and green, like you’re smelling the whole rose bush, not just the rose. After a few hours, it does dry down to a sweeter amber vanilla base. It’s an interesting scent and I really enjoy parts of it. I’m just not sure I love wearing it all day... Definitely recommend sampling. It’s so different to other rose-forward scents I’ve tried!

Revisiting my discovery set. Weeping Rose onpaper was my most anticipated feature in the set, however, as a few of the below reviews mention, the woodyness is almost acrid and dominates the scent on my skin. It defnitely gives it that dry feeling. Its interesting, but I couldn't see myself wearing it. Unfortunately its just too sharp for my skin and tastes, and there is better options in the line.

Opening was very nice, smells like rose syrup. Then the amber rears its ugly head and I was like oh no.... no no no no! It dries down to a confused mess of mostly rose, juniper, amber. In the end I got hints of chinese medicated oil for joint pain mixed with a bit of talc powder.

Jammy, fruity rose, heavily smoked tea and a finish of waxy orris root. The slightest hint of maple in the sweetness, though I think I'm only picking that up since it's written down. Not my favourite rose by a long shot, but lovely to try in a sample set.

Unfortunately this smells like a spicy pot pourri to me. Not necessarily a bad scent but off putting as it reminded me of 90s decor (derogatory). Then, maybe 2 hours in i’d forgotten I was wearing it, and thought I smelt the smoke of burning plastic/charcoal? was a bit frantic trying to find the source when i realised it was me lol. Not for moi.

Idk about the reviews on here, to my nose, its extremely woody rose. on my skin, extremely woody rose. I dislike rose, its hard for me to enjoy it unless its fruity rose in which i was expecting this to be, but this is a woody rose that is all i smell and if i had to choose of another note i can barely smell in here it’s probably the juniper and thats it. No fruitiness, no apple, no maple, no nothin. Its just rose and woods from spray to dry down. I can smell it from my wrist as im typing this and i wanna puke. I appreciate rose and wood notes SEPARATELY paired with fruits or sweet florals, all together is one big bundle of overwhelming floral woodiness. I guess its fine cuz i got the sample for free when buying from the chasing scents website but i’ll give it to my mom, she doesn’t like rose either but she has a handful of people she could give this to cuz i don’t lol.

i think im starting to come into terms with the fact that i love the concept of the perfume way more than its juice.. first time smelling i genuinely thought it was a really pretty perfume! the mental snapshot i got is a grandma who loves pastels and pinks, have trinkets with vintage rose design and embroideries on her furniture. how this smells is that its like taking a whiff in a garden of roses. you get the stem, leaf, and rose all in one, and its strong. the initial had a lychee sweetness that sadly, fades away very fast. the dry down was pretty but it can get a little heady. but after weeks of trying this, i dont get the initial feeling i had with this. now the opening smells like chilis.. like just spicy green and red chilis. quite pungent, and then settles into a pretty rose, which i like still but its not worth going through that chili initially imo. also idk why but it makes me feel sticky wearing this. in the way that gourmands makes me feel in summer heat. dislike that sensory feeling tbh.. but its not gourmand. was so close to full bottling this thank god i wore my sample till the end to find out im polarized a bit by it (sadly)

first impression in store, found this to be a very green rose - reminded me of philosophy nude rose, diptyque eau rose and chloé fragrances purchased the discovery set and on my skin it is still very green but I also get smoky dry woods, green rose - stems and all, and sharp juniper. I keep smelling but I can't find apple or any warmth or sweetness that the other reviews here have suggested. maybe whole red apples that have yet to be eaten smells like walking through a park in autumn, past the rose shrubs and crunchy scattered leaves. i keep waiting for the fruitiness and warmer vanilla/amber notes. with time the rose fades and blends with the powdery orris note that emerges. it is a bit too green for my tastes, very chloé. I would probably layer if I were to wear this to soften the juniper sept 25. tried this again. i get apple skin on. roses. pleasant but I don't think I'll pick up a bottle. nice to smell in the rain

Love this, bought a bottle. I'm so sick of the Delina, Damask, Atomic Rose DNA. As a rose lover, I like the aromatic juniper in the opening and the maple is a nice departure from vanilla. It smells like those little rose buds you brew for tea. Yes, it's a little potpourri adjacent but in a beautiful, contemplative way. Some people might read that and think "ew, I don't want to smell like a grandma." To me, it's not a grandma rose, but also, what's wrong with smelling like a grandma?!? My grandmother was the classiest, most elegant woman I've ever known. Respect wisdom, wear the rose.

I'm trying sooo hard to understand this one fully because I REALLY REALLY like it, but every once in a while I get a whiff of damp, rotting rose. Or maybe celery? But every time I smell it, it's different. And oh boy when it's not smelling like rotting plant matter, it's soooo gorgeous. Woody and rosey, and definitely one of my favorite rose scents ever. Like a more complex Elizabethan Rose, which is one of my favorite scents. I'm in love with this like crazy, but ONLY when it doesn't smell rotting

This is an interesting take on the rose. She has somehow managed to get the whole smell of the rose in, all at once. By that I mean you can smell the flower, leaves, root, soil and all. It is interesting for that alone. Would suit a mature aged lady for sure. I have sampled the rest of her collection and they are well worth seeking out particularly if you like tea as a fragrance. She makes her own extracts and they are photorealistic in effect.

The prettiest rose, stem and all. Perfectly green and a bit peppery in the opening, and a juicy, mature apple. Only a touch of tea in this one- an herbal tea mostly with some maple sweetness. I’m usually not a huge rose fan but this one is so wearable and delectable- all four of CS tea perfumes are just stunning. All of them are full bottle worthy !

Rose woody amber aromachemical. There is a rose in there somewhere being bludgeoned by woody amber. I avoid mainstream perfume because I am having bad reactions to all the aromachemicals, but niche can be just as bad. I am starting to think IFRA was created to poison us, as well as make the aromachemical companies and perfume brands money.

Whoa that packs a punch! Straight up mulled hard apple cider. An extremely literal Autumn fragrance. The rose is a supporting character to me and the apple/maple is what really comes through. This scent is going to a brewery in New England in the Fall sitting by a fire pit. (Not actually smoky, just the vibe.)

Jammy rose & oolong tea, sweet, savoury. I don't know why this slaps when I'm at rock bottom but it does. My personal bedrotting planning my death regressing to 3yo making myself smaller and smaller until I disappear scent

smells fine, nothing to call home about. Longevity is decent, but projection is soft at best. Anyway, not sure if I can recall a unique rose frag at this point; most are very similar

Elegant comforting rose scent. Green rose with some fruits hanging out in the background with just a hint of sweetness. Probably my favorite scent from this perfume house.

I mean... Nothing special, just a basic fresh rose. I feel like i seen a lot of scent like this before.
