The spice/Incense notes remind me of Tauer's L'Air du Desert Marocain, but the sandalwood warms it up, just a bit. This isn't a creamy take on sandalwood like Tam Dao; it's more spiced incense with a bit of sandalwood to smooth out the dryness. Definitely lives up to its name.

Excellent dusty incense laden powder, dry patchouli, warm ambery resins, dusty old world furniture sitting in the corner of an antique shop while slathered in Sandalwood. Santal Auster showcases an easy to wear yet complex sandal/Oud combo supported by an exquisite patchouli. This has all the markings of an artisanal natural fragrance but with expert blending and balanced ratios. The sillage and projection showcases a dusty, powdery sandalwood note but smelling up close provides a wonderful golden amber accord chock full of resins and incense. Solid performance like all of Shawn’s work. Easy to wear Nothing smells animalic here but my skank meter is broken so take that with a grain of salt. This is perfect for those wishing to dip their toes into natural waters but without the rawness associated with most natural Sandal/Oud compositions.

Creamy coffee/chocolate and other deep dark things. Dried fruit. Not for daytime. Interesting in a cool, dusty basement sort of way.
