Chloé (Parfums Chloé)

You know it took me practically my whole life to appreciate this perfume until its discontinued and unscrupulous sellers on ebay are selling the occasional bottle for a mortgage on a house that l suddenly love it! I have 30mls of a 90ml bottle remaining and I'm just having to use it sparingly and I'm not a 1 or 2 measly sprays type of woman but l know once this is gone its gone from my life forever so I'm holding on for dear life. I wore this to work one day sprayed liberally of course as l didnt want to waste my more expensive special ones for work, and oh my gosh for the first time it struck me, what's that amazing clean powdery but soapy fresh and classy smell? I thought it was someone else wearing something great and after sniffing myself realised it was me!! I'm not going to bore on about each note you can see what's in it on here above but this stuff is- just got out of a huge marble bubble bath, having used obscenely expensive French soap and powdered yourself in something wonderful and soft, and perfumed yourself with something gorgeous and expensive, and putting on a soft white cashmere jumper and all the fragrances are mingling into this amazing scent. Oh my gosh why didn't l buy 5 bottles when l saw it on sale for £21 and bought this as a cheap and cheerful wear to preserve the time l have left with my expensive ones? I'm so upset l wasted it. 😞 😢 😭 Finding a bottle of this now is equivalent to finding the holy grail it's near enough impossible. Funny story when l was a little girl of about 5years old l would sneak a little use of my mummy's expensive grown up lady perfumes. She had all the Diors and Chanels and Estee Lauders and l would put on her perfume & her pearls and bracelets & fox fur coat and high heels and Dior makeup, and pretend to be a fancy lady going out to dinner. One time she had an enormous bottle of Chloe and it wasn't a spray it was about 200mls and full and it had a big fancy clouded glass decorative sculpture stopper in it. Of course l dropped it and 80% spilled out all over the carpet. In panic mode because l knew l wasn't supposed to be messing with her things l filled the rest of the bottle of perfume up with water and it all went white and cloudy. I heard her coming upstairs and put it back on the dressing table and went and hid. 😆 Well needless to say l heard her screaming for me then, and that was one of the biggest hidings l ever got in my childhood! Its been referred to ever since as the Chloe beating! We laugh about it now, l deserved it. (Relax everyone it was 1980 a time when even the neighbours and friends of the family were allowed to beat you if they saw you misbehaving outside and your parents were grateful to them for doing it, and then they would beat you for giving someone else cause to do it!) 😆🤣 Anyway love this perfume even though its lure got me in a lot of trouble once. I give this a 7.5/10

This is another one I love, as it's another one of the few vintage perfumes that seem to suit my body chemistry. It doesn't seem to be too sweet, or overpowering (if used in small doses) on me. It's just sweet enough and a little spicy. Almost edible, especially once the flowers fade a little - but, definitely not in that sickly, artificial candy type way many contemporary perfumes have. It's very far from that. It's more like a spiced fruit dessert. Almost Christmasy, even. I also happen to really like the Chloe fashion house; so, it's kind of like it was meant to be. When I was a little girl, my mum didn't like Chloe very much. Whereas vintage perfumes tend to go sour on me, they tended to go overly sweet on her. So, it's totally understandable that she would have considered Chloe a no-no for her. She said she didn't like musk very much and it is fairly musky, I guess? Also, she had more of a stylish, but slightly androgynous vibe, which didn't really gel with the whole "Chloe girl" look. Whereas, as a little girl, I was really into feminine stuff. I remember standing in Boots with her and being very drawn to the beautiful, calla lily bottles and the sweet, heady smell. I even liked the soft shape of the letters, saying "Chloe" and the accent over the e. I remember I pointed over at the Chloe counter and said "What about Chloe?". She said "Chloe?! No.", very firmly and scoffed slightly, at the very idea. xD I'm sure I saw the Chloe sales assistant, who was looking over at us, smile at me somewhat sympathetically, lol. Looking back, it was quite funny. Anyway, gorgeous, slightly sultry, feminine fragrance, as long as it suits your body chemistry. I haven't tried the new version, by the way - I'm mainly referring to old vintage bottles of the pure parfum, in the little glass-stoppered bottles. Those bottles are so beautiful. Wish there were still bottles (and perfumes) like that, now. Imagine a little bottle like this, with a frosted, graduated, light dusty pink orchid stopper, for example. But, I digress...

Review of vintage edp: Let me begin by stating that I dislike coconut. On my skin, Chloe opens with a strong wood/rose accord, very dense, and very dry. Within about 15 minutes, the coconut appears This is not an oily coconut, or a suntan lotion coconut, but a toasted,caramelized samoa cookie type coconut- it's actually really wonderful. Combined with the rose and wood, the combination is lazy, warm, and rich. This phase is delicious, almost gourmand to my nose, subtle, comforting, and I find it impossible to stop huffing my wrist! In the dry down I get lightly sweet honey suckle, a touch of spice from the ylang ylang, orange blossom, and a strong, spicy cedar base. Faint jasmine (in the peachy headspace this note can develop) wafts in and out, by far the most subtle use of this note that I've encountered. I LOVE THIS SCENT! Chloe is truly amazing, and I already feel a need for a back up bottle. This is a scent to be savored, almost indescribable. It is beautifully balanced, and on my skin, remains dry and spicy start to finish. This is what I was expecting from Dune, a rich, spicy, oriental vibe with enveloping heat, like the warmth of sun radiating from a rock face. I notice that others review this very differently- vintage scents (mine is from the 80s) can age differently, or this may be a function of my skin chemistry, but for me Chloe Chloe is the perfect laid back floriental. I guess I'll have to buy that back up bottle, to be sure! I highly recommend trying this scent! However, as so many others report different experiences, it may be best to try before buying! Either way, this is one to experience. I honestly thought I would hate it, but this is a scent that I LOVE! I would be perfectly happy to smell like this for the rest of my life. EDIT: I just tried the reformulation. It is a white musk bomb! The notes of the original may be there, but all are overwhelmed by soap.

In 1975 when Lagerfeldt launched the first perfume under his name, poor Chloé had more than her fair share of critics. The perfume was dismissed as being too heavy, too cloying, too sweet and too old-fashioned. Even the design of the bottle, with its soft curves and lily-shaped stopper, was criticised. Soon, however, its utter originality and unequivocal ambience began to reveal itself and ultimately became an enormous success. Chloé is, or was, a perfume aimed directly at the heart. A perfume of love - intimate, unhibited and passionate. If it is perceived as 'heavy', it ́s simply because it is absolutely committed to the exploitation of one dominant flower - the pervasively lovely tuberose. It clings, it envelops, it persists and permeates, but it does all this with a rare beauty. Its scent is beautifully rich and creamy, almost euphoric, and when handled by a perfumer of great skill it can be the ideal catalyst, the point of departure. That ́s certainly the case here. Few perfumes can rival the graceful femininity of this amber-coloured one. The dreamlike blend of tuberose, jasmine, spring roses, honeysucke and orangeblossom together with a distinct peach note are seamlessly woven together with a discreet backdrop of oakmoss, musk, amber and a light facet of patchouli. The total effect is nothing short of hypnotic! A wonderful, truly great floral composition that is beautiful, mesmerising and soft as silk at all stages of its development. For such an icon of a perfume, I hope for a deserved comeback of this great classic. I have a few bottles carefully stored away from light and heat and used on special occasions. This 1975 Chloé is in my opinion the true Chloé, and has absolutely no relation to the new perfume with the same name.

I really liked this back in the 80s, so when I recently purchased a set of four minis (in an effort to build up my stock of original Organza Indecence, which is why I purchased it), I was looking forward to trying it again. What I remembered the most about it was the peach note, not having the nose or knowledge to identify any other notes. Of course, the opening is off, but as a lover of many vintage perfumes, I knew not to pass judgment until it had a chance to settle down. Once it did, I immediately recognized the tuberose, and was happy to have even a mini, which is labeled as Parfum, with Parfums International listed as the distributor. Does it strike me as particularly sophisticated? No, not really. Do I think it is pretty in a loud white floral sort of way? Yes, definitely. Fortunately, I love this type of sweet, nectary peach and tuberose. Can I see why it would give many perfumistas a headache? Absolutely. But I love it for what it is - a heavy explosion of sweetened tuberose that now comes to me full of znostalgia from a time when I didn't care about the art of perfumery. I just knew what I thought smelled good, and that was more than enough for me! I still love it! PS - those who remember this being in drug stores as teens in the 70s must have had some very high end drug stores, or Chloe must have decided to aim for more exalted ground in the 80s! I remember this being sold in department stores when I first encountered it, and that actually meant something in those days.

I never really appreciated this beauty when I had it at the end of the 80s, I rarely wore it and I've been ignoring it ever since;I'd dismissed it as an old fashioned heavy floral. I have the little round glass bottle parfum version with the glass lily stopper in its ever so slightly worn-looking box, the 9.5ml Parfum in a silver canister which comes with a funnel & soft cloth holder in a stiff box, a splash and a spray version - a lot of juice for something I rarely wore!! I re-tried the pure parfum first & the first sniff on the stopper didn't smell too promising; maybe a bit sharp and nothing like I remembered but I persevered anyway and oh! what a treat! On my skin the coconut smells almost vanilla-like, it is rich and amazing, it stays pretty much the same after the opening notes have faded after a few minutes.There is nothing sharp here, just smoothness and warmth. I wore it to work and was virtually wrestled to the ground by a work colleague who couldn't stop sniffing me and my 16 year old son adores it. On a personal note, it takes me back to being a teenager, full of hope for the future & it reminds me of a friend who used to love it who is no longer here and mostly it makes me feel happy, calm and at peace - the power of perfume. I'm going to wear it more often now, the edt versions work really well in warmer weather.I'll check out the newer version as well but I'd recommend trying the Karl Lagerfeld original, it is truly beautiful, even for a non floral lover like me.

This may not be your idea of a hipster scent , but I think it is the most feminine perfume I have ever owned . I totally adore it , possibly because I would receive it for Christmas when I was a young mother and wife . My husband and children loved it on me. When the formula was first created it was not a cheap scent at all and sold in nice department stores. Later on it was found in drug stores, and still is . It has been around since 1975 ! There are good reasons it still sells - it is a tribute to classic femininity created by esteemed designer, Karl Lagerfeld ( recently deceased ). This smells like femininity in a bottle . It is not an overtly sexy scent , but it it is sexy in a soft and alluring form that does not conjure up images of stiletto heels . Chloe has been reformulated and I still like it , but notice some missing notes and it is less complex and intense these days . Even in the reformulated state it is still quite pretty and a huge seller for almost 50 years . Recently I stumbled on to another perfume that is a dupe of the original that seems closer to the 1980s version I wore. It is called “Hawaii” by Milton Lloyd and is extremely inexpensive . If you like this kind of scent, check out Hawaii which is more complex and richer . Chloe and Hawaii are probably the two perfumes I would choose as my favorites of all times . They are not hipster scents , but they are lovely .

Wow. This perfume is amazing. I was shopping at Marshall's with my mother this afternoon when she stopped to look at a box set of perfume and lotion. She looked at it and said, "You know, I wore this for years right after I met your dad. Think he will still recognize the scent?" Mind you, my parents have been married for over 30 years. So we buy the (very reasonably priced) box set and head home for a Father's Day celebration. She dabs on a bit of the lotion on our way. After getting home she has my dad smell her wrists. "Hey! I know this!" He says. My mom's eyes light up. He remembered this after so many years. On my way home from dinner I stopped back by Marshall's to pick up a set for myself. I didn't really pay attention to what the fragrance smelled like, but I wanted it just knowing it was special to my mom. I sprayed a bit on and started my drive home. MY GOOD LORD. This stuff is great! Slightly suffocating when you first spray it on (it's harsh, y'all) but give it 15 minutes and you're surrounded in a halo of creamy, clean goodness. It's so hard to describe.. it's not too sweet, not too in-your-face and CERTAINLY not too old fashioned. I'm 25, for the record. What a funny little afternoon. Can't wait to explore this fragrance more.

This perfume says “woman “ . It is the ultimate feminine floral . I can not understand why it is not preferred over the new generic and over priced version. This has much more warmth and depth . Some reviews call it “dated” . How so ? Because it does not smell like berry jam or marmalade ? There are many things that would be considered dated , like a John Constable or Renoir painting . Many of the most striking creations are found in museums and galleries and revered. Do we need to dismiss something because it has been around a while ? Is it to be disregarded because our mother wore it ? There was a time when women were less inclined to strive to be the sexiest woman in the room . This is a perfume for a woman who has no need to be a vamp . She is comfortable with her own skin and her definition of femininity is not dependent on being like everyone else, nor on being sexually provocative . I wore this as a young mother ( thirty years ago ) and my husband loved the way it smelled on me . I am a grandma now, and was prepared to purchase the “new “ Chloe while shopping with a good friend. She said to me “ I still think the original Chloe is much prettier “. I agreed with her because it is richer and more distinctive in my opinion.

I am fond of a good many old fashioned floral bombs, and to me this is the best of the lot. Comments about a hairspray aura in the opening are absolutely accurate. The first time I tried Chloe, my impression was hardly favorable. Overwhelmed, is more like. But I've grown to love the pungent opening, aware that beyond it is awaiting me the perfect blend of honeysuckle-sweetness. A quiet layer of romantic musk blends all the florals seamlessly together. Tuberose does not run the show, but simpers quietly in the background, behind her gorgeous floral cousins! If you wish to smell unbelievably feminine, I can think of no better choice than Chloe. Beguilement waits behind the hairspray. ;) All this said, Chloe is also perfectly office appropriate, provided you spray lightly and/or wear under clothing. There's an almost soapy note when worn in a restrained manner, which could easily be your body wash or bath salts lingering softly... Whether to wear as a siren song or a polite, ladylike manner is up to you, but I find Chloe to be a winner in every way imaginable. Note - Oddly enough, this lovely and distinctive floral layers perfectly on my skin with - OH MY - Tabu??? But so it does! <3

Good bye Chloe....today I used the last drop of my vintage flanker. I wore this perfume for 25 years and it is time to move on. I used to enjoy the heavy, syrupy sweet, almost gooey floral concoction. It is a reminder of Guess jeans, penny loafers, big shirts with shoulder pads and perms (and rooster bangs). I decided a few months after I turned 40 it was time to not necessarily reinvent myself but more like refresh myself and accept that I am officially a woman and not a girl. This fragrance just does not fit my image of myself anymore. There are plenty of old school 80/90's perfumes I still enjoy but my definition of feminity is more along the lines of the lovely French women with pencil skirts and silk blouses...they are timeless...I doubt French women in the 80's used Sun-In and electric blue eyeliner with pink hair mascara pulled through their bangs. I think they have always been the same and that is who I have become. Not trendy or faddish....just timeless..undated. So, on this rainy day in May...I have decided that Chloe will no longer hold a place in my perfume wardrobe. No repurchase just a fond farewell.

I have the Chloe, Parfums Chloe version. Never smelled the Lagerfield version, unfortunately, so I cannot comment on that version. Not the Chloe New, either. The Chloe I have is still wonderful. Completely different than anything being released lately. It is a heady, sensuous floral but the addition of the aldehydes keeps it from being syrupy and heavy. It is so beautiful. Warm but totally appropriate for summer wear. I was actually hoping it would be more powerful and have stronger sillage and projection. This is immediately going into my Top 5 favorites. UPDATE: Wow, what a beautiful scent. Dried down to a lovely, slightly soapy (think Ivory) floral. This really is perfect for summer. It may be a faux pas to mention this, but I'm getting a slight EL White Linen vibe (which I almost got, instead of the Chloe). I can also smell traces of what inspired Chloe Narcisse, which is a favorite of mine. This is NOT overpowering or a sillage monster. Now, I'm going to have to track down some vintage. If this is what the reformulation smells like, I might die of happiness if I get vintage.

A little goes a long was, as do most vintages, esp from that era. It is elegant, and sophisticated. Much like I wanted to be when i wore it in the 70's..to be honest I think it was too grown up for me at that time...but I loved it then and wore it just the same. I wear it now mostly for nostalgic reasons. Brings back great memories. But aside from that, it is a fantastic fragrance. And the added bonus is you won't smell like a variation of everyone else...you will be different. I cant stand smelling like candy floss, or like every other person. I clearly remember the time when CK one was launched, and EVERYbody, men and women, were wearing the same thing. Went to the movies, and the whole theatre was CK one! Seriously? It's more of a winter, special occasion scent, I would not recommend it for the office. If there has been a reformulation, I cannot tell, at least not from my memory of 40 years ago.The version now available is fine enough for me. If youu want a distinctive, sultry, creamy scent, give this a try.

An early memory of mine being very little-4or5-is this bottle standing on its box on my mother's boudoir. My mother was never a perfume person. She always had one or two fragrances. This is the only one i can recall almost as a dream. Now this is a so peculiar perfume...in a good way. It stands out of the bunch and is a love or hate perfume. So...i love it. It opens with the most medicinal aldehydes followed straight away with the tuberose. The tuberose stays there while the aldehydes dissipate introducing the peach which is creamy. Don't forget about the moss. Is here in the backstage keeping all the notes interesting and saving them by become dull and another 70-80s perfume. This is the most spectacular of this frag. The oakmoss keeps all together and don't let them become sugary sweet. The drydown is very smooth because the sandalwood enters the game and stays that way till the end Longevity is superb-8to10h Sillage on my dry skin radiates within arms length

@FrenchTeacher You're absolutely right. The 'old lady smell' comes mainly from noses without an identity..Noses that have no sense of quality olfaction. Noses that didn't have the privilege to experience the magic of signature aromas that have a story of a decade to tell and continue to take us back to a time when there was a sense of meaning in life. Noses that are so narcissistic they can't imagine nor accept they'll ever get old....... Nowadays, especially the poor millenniums, will grow older without having the privilege to learn what timeless perfume should be like-today, everything almost smells identical to each other, has that same heavy sweet smell that 'yells' for attention without deserving it..... When all these young ladies become old ladies, the only thing they'll remember from this forsaken decade (and the decades to come..) is the loss of a free, meaningful life...

Oh Chloe!!! I was about 7 or 8 years old when my Mom first purchased this in the late '70s. I can remember sitting in the bathroom watching her put on her makeup and teasing her hair, cigarette leaving a trace of nicotine on the edge of the sink, and her fussing that she forgot she left it there. Chloe cut through all of it: the hairspray, the cigarette smoke, the tobacco, the face powder. It was sweet and thick and bold. Mom wore IT. It did not wear HER. I was delighted when she bought it; I did not like the dark side of Emeraude and the other metallic powder dark scents she had worn through the years. This was bright and unique. She later went back to the powder dark side, and I don't think they suit her as well. I've tried Chloe several times and it's generally better for me in the summer when I'm a bit more sweaty and oily. But nothing as good as how it smelled on my Mom....

It breaks my heart that this perfume has so many dislikes! For me, this is the senorita version of Chanel no 5, how someone else said in a comment smells like luxurious french soap, I usually dislike heady pure florals like Organza, Anais Anais or 5th Avenue, but this is not that, it has something so alluring, sexy but aristocratic. it remembers you what it means to be a woman and why you should be proud to be. Deep, it's like the person who wears it has something, a secret or a way of seeing things you will never understand, but you cant stop trying and falling for her. The vintage vibe is subtle, just enough to make you get into the trap of melancholy of golden times/dolce vita period. I might be just lucky with the chemistry, but this perfume helps me feel like I'm living my life, and I do it in the most beautiful way. Its pure glow and sensuality, a perfume for a nymph!

I first had this is the mid to late 80's while attending college. I wore this and Anais Anais a lot. They were my intro to the big powerhouses of silage. Decades have passed, and I moved on from these to other styles. However, I kept seeing this at TJMAXX, but always passed on it for years because I heard the reformulation was crap. Finally about 4 months ago, I saw a gift set with a damaged box for $14.99 for a large bottle and a giant lotion...what the hell, I'm going for it. To be honest, it's just the way I remembered it. It doesn't smell different, and it's still quite strong. 2 sprays-7 hours, I retroactively say sorry to all my friends back in the 80's because I know I did much more than 2 sprays back in the day. I'm really loving this again, I wish I can hug my 18 year old self and say it all worked out and thanks for the memories.

My mother used to wear this back in the day and had a bottle of the original formula until a few months ago, I believe. Yes (as with Opium and many other fragrances) this has been simplified and somewhat cut down. BUT it's still a very very nice fragrance that sets itself apart from the flood of sameish sweet fragrances. I tested it two days ago - one spritz on the back of my hand. The opening is a little harsh but as we know by now - I ignored that and continued with my business. About 30 minutes later a beautiful aroma reached my nose and sticked with me throughout the evening (even after doing the dishes). Peachy, creamy florals with the tuberose and carnation being rather prominent on me. Not dated but definitely different and "perfumey", this - amongst others of course - is the smell of a woman. I want a bottle!

Lots of negative reviews of this one, but gosh, I have a different experience. I hadn't smelled it in many years but took a chance and bought a bottle at Marshall's yesterday. I got in the car and opened it and spritzed my wrist. Oh. My. Heavens. It was like I'd found my long lost soul mate. Not sure what that says for my skin or nose, since so many seem to find this one unpleasant, but just one spritz on my wrist put me in fragrance heaven. It is very similar to the Chloe Narcisse I've had but less intense. I really hate it for those who don't smell it like I do. But that happens both ways. By the way, this package and bottle I got were exactly as pictured and as much as I can recall the scent is very much like the "original," at least to my nose.

I will forever regret de-cluttering this fragrance. To me it smells like a honeyed peach with a massive dose of white florals. BIG projection and wonderful longevity. I bought it for a very reasonable price at the drugstore back in college and wore it heavily. Ended up decluttering it in a moment of temporary insanity because a had another fragrance that filled the same niche in my collection. When I inevitably missed it and went to buy another bottle, I found it was discontinued!! Haven’t been able to justify the hefty price tag it now comes with just yet. Mainly because it was always fairly divisive to those around me, either they felt it was “so me” or too “old fashioned.” If you have a bottle of this fragrance, please cherish it in honor of me.

I'm sure I sniffed the nozzle of this perfume at some point in the 90s and (probably, truthfully) crinkled my nose. I couldn't remember what it smelled like, but something kept drawing me back to reconsider. I finally blind bought it and am so glad I did! This is signature worthy. Just creamy, light and feminine. It smells golden to me. I don't get any sharpness or cloying peach. Instead, the coconut comes through in a way that isn't quite tropical, but clean, warm, a little sweet combined with amber. It's what you'd wear to smell like you've just stepped out of a shower, pulled on your favorite white T or silk camisole with a blazer and best fitting jeans, minimal makeup. Classic.

Vintage Lagerfield Pure Parfum: It starts with a short burst of honeysuckle and orange blossom that flies up your nose, but within seconds there is warmth, spices and a boozy peach that encapsulates you as all sorts of glorious florals come through including tuberose, hyacinth, ylang-ylang, jasmine, narcissus, and lily of the valley. I also noticed a slight woody scent with amber, and oakmoss. It's hard for me to describe this fragrance any further other than that when I smell this it makes me happy. This Chloe may be dated because its so different from the modern florals but this bold, intoxicating feminine scent is elegant and beautiful. Lots of love for vintage Chloe.

Chloe original is such a cheerful scent. There’s something about it, possibly the tuberose combined with peach, that makes it smell a little like sunshine. It works best for me on a warm spring day. I get oakmoss (probably artificial in my bottle) tuberose, a little peach but only for some sweetness; this not a “peach” perfume, and I don’t smell the aldehydes in a sparkling way but I get more the fatty essence of them. I can see the comparisons to soap (Dove, to my nose). If you enjoy more vintage type scents, or just looking for something unique in today’s world, try it out. I remember when it was sold at department stores but I found mine at a drugstore.

Ive been thinking of replacing my bottle of this that i bought on a whim a few years ago; i was in the chemist just browsing for no reason and happened apon a bottle of Chloe. There were no testers but I gave it a go anyway. On me it was a beautiful spicy rose with a peppery note that im guessing was the carnation. Lasts AGES, couple of sprays and its there all day. At the time i was all of about 22 years old, yet i loved the heady spicy vintage aroma. So much so that im tempted to buy a replacement bottle just thinking about it. Its not something you'll find being made in this modern day trend of light fruity florals.

If I'm really honest. I just can't tell that this powerhouse fragrance has been reformulated. To my untrained olfactory nose it smells just as good as it did years ago and all the notes are there, plus it's long lasting! Which is always a bonus. Chloe is deep, comforting and warm and it wraps you up in a tuberose blanket. I find that the base notes of ambery, tuberose deliciousness are more like the top notes with a hint of peach on top but it starts out with a burst of powdery white flowers and aldehydes. I don't wear it a lot but when I do, I always, always enjoy it especially in the winter

Because my name is Chloe, my beloved grade-school teacher gave me the sample bottle of this back in the day. I was devastated that they discontinued it, and I currently have a bottle that I paid a bit too much for on eBay to obtain in its sealed original box. I wear it nearly every day, a spray behind my ears, then a spray onto a tissue to dab on each wrist. Even at the end of the day I can still smell it, but it’s not overpowering. Nothing else makes me feel more effortlessly classy, chic, and confident. It doesn’t trigger my migraines and I always get compliments. A perfect fragrance!

Today's Chloe (the one in the square bottle) I find to be just wretched. It doesn't hold a candle to this original Chloe, which I first smelled in 1982. This was my teenaged aunt's favorite perfume. One year I decided to buy her a bottle for Christmas only to keep it for myself instead! I recently bought a vintage mini parfum and it is exactly as I remember it. I wore it today and it was just surprisingly modern to me, still relevant. This is tuberose with enough warmth and fruity complexity that it can be worn anytime, day or night. I highly recommend the vintage minis.

I was named after this perfume, so I guess it's fitting that I became a tuberose lover! Truth be told, I don't get any tuberose in this- I get much more aldehyde, orris root, rose, lilac, honeysuckle and musk. But perhaps someday I will get to smell a 70s vintage to compare. ETA: I've been trying to figure out what this reminds me of, and I have it. Chloé smells clean and luxurious like the richest bath products at the fanciest bed and breakfast. The kind where you would book another night just to steal the soaps off the cart in the hallway, and hoard them for years.

LOVE Lagerfeld's Chloe! Τimeless, one of a kind scent. It smells heavenly in hot weather. The heat releases its unique scent and it smells so beautiful. It's the kind of vintage perfume that has that distinctive quality fragrance about it, very feminine. At dry down, all its beauty is expelled. It is a fresh, sweet-coconuty/tuberosy scent mixed with peach, jasmine, narcissus, carnation, ylang-ylang and aldehydes, this is a must have fragrance! Luxurious and delightful! Once you make it yours, you won’t be able to go a day without this fragrance..It's addictive..

A take-no-prisoners SOAPY floral with inexplicable gorgeousness. A scratchy, sharp opening gives way to woody-floral wonder. I love the honeysuckle, the sandalwood, the utterly indefinable warmth and complexity. If soapy florals smell bad on you, avoid at all costs. Be sure to give her plenty of time and tests before giving up - she's that worth it! But know that Chloe is a masterpiece, either way. Note: Hawaii Milton Lloyd is indeed an excellent dupe. There are nuances that are different, but when someone is wearing Hawaii, I cannot tell the difference. <3

My mom gave me her little bottle of Chloé when I was little and I'm on a nostalgia bender, so I purchased a sample vial. While I love so many of the notes listed here (Honeysuckle, Hyacinth, Lilac, Orange Blossom, Jasmine, Bergamot, Coconut, Rose...), this didn't smell like what I remembered and I just wasn't impressed or intrigued by it. For some reason, in my mind, it was almost a cola smell mixed with florals. Which I guess might sound disgusting, lol, but it's in the recesses of my brain as sweet, feminine, pretty... This was underwhelming.

What can I say. My grand mother's fave, my aunt's fave. Sadly, both are gone now. It was the perfume of the ladies in my life, when I was a child in the 70s and we travelled to Nice, Venice, or Monte Carlo. The sultry evenings after a day on the beach or by the pool. They were sipping cocktails and wore a silk kaftan after the sun has set. I could write full novels on the associations, but suffice it to say that this vintage gem, along with Leonard's Tamango -to be reviewed soon, is the original olfactory track of my childhood. Simply divine!

annxyz - SO true. I cannot improve on your review. This is lovely, the tuberose is so warm and cozy and sexy in a low key way. Very well blended. I would say this is more of a fall/winter perfume. This one is a classic. Edit: Cooler weather here and again, I find myself reaching for this classic. The tuberose in this is wonderful and warm. Edit:I have verified that Coty has discontinued this. It does not fit in with their brand and current perfumes trends. Sad. You would think something that is popular since 1975 would get a pass, but no :(

I love Chloe as it is the first perfume I was ever given by my brother at the young age of thirteen. It brings back memories of my first sweetheart that I was with from thirteen to seventeen. It evokes feelings of innocence and youth for me. It is a beautiful floral strong of tuberose but it also has honeysuckle which is possibly my favorite flower. It is a complex fragrance that I still love to wear when feeling floral. It is a bit strong of aldehydes and its lasting power is awesome. It is easily recognizable and ultra feminine. 10/10

Your prodigal daughter has returned mother Chloe..two years ago I left you convinced I needed to find myself something new after all the years we had been together. From my very first miniature when I was about 10 to all the bottles I've repurchased without a second thought. I'm back dear lady. This time I treated myself to the vintage by Karl Lagerfeld. It's so nice. It's not dripping and oozing sweet sugar..it's just a light breezy version of today's incarnation. I like both to be honest but the vintage is more crowd friendly.

I received it in Karl's version, the frosted bottle, and it smells so powdery and innocent, exactly as I remember it from early 90's. From the box and packaging I can say this bottle is also from early 90's..... This perfume is inexplicable and un-copy-abl, it is an Egyptian pyramid, it is a Sophia Loren, you will not see/smell something like it. But it has to be Karl Lagarfeld's version, not Coty's (Parfums Chloe). I tried both, and the old formula is way much nicer, and powderier. Love it, and stocked some extra.

Chloe... You make me gag if I breathe too quickly after first spraying you, but, Oh how I am glad I am patient with you. You dry down to a beautiful field of floral loveliness, but you are so warm and cozy (must be the amber, musk and woody notes). I sense a tiny, little spice (is that pepper?) it is hidden behind the flowers, but it's just enough to give you some personality. The silage is moderate on me and she lasts 4 hours or so. I have a feeling I will be enjoying this perfume through the winter.

I got my bottle from my grandmother; she received it as a gift a long time ago and used some of it, but ultimately she wasn’t too crazy about it. When she found out that I liked it, she gave it to me. This perfume reminds me of a sweeter, less complicated version of Halston. There’s no marigold note or mint early on. It’s feminine without being too frou-frou. If you’re used to more delicate scents you’ll have to be careful not to overspray or you’ll run everybody out of the room 😂

I liked and wore the old one but have not tested the new one. I sniffed the bottle and it smells good but seemed it was missing something warm and deep and the top was a little brassy. I should get a tester and give it a proper try so I can say something about them both but the warmth that the new seems to lack is one of the things I loved about the old version. I can't seem to like it in the new formulation and it lacks the nostalgia value too. Eh.

I'd like to recommend the vintage version of this as worth trying -- I have fond memories of my high school sweetheart smelling wonderful wearing it in the 80s :-) It was a distinctive floral, feminine, classy, and long-lasting. It could be called conservative, but young women wore it. It projected enough to draw you in closer, but not so much that it begged for attention from strangers standing six feet away, which is ideal if you ask me.

Amazingly enough, I spotted this beauty at an antique collective this afternoon!! I was very excited to find a fairly full bottle. It is the original and smells so lush with the slight siren call of the tuberose, but it is not nearly as overwhelming as Fracas. Here it is an hour later and it has mellowed out a bit, to a more green/lush blend with the floral. I am very happy that it appeared to me out of the blue, as it did.

Chloe.. a truly magnificent gem. I just bought a bottle in original box and all. It was far better than I remenbered. Lovely aldehydes, juicy peach, lilacs with ambery oakmoss undertones. Feminine, vibrant and in some way uplifting. They dont make perfumes like this anymore. Longevity and silage are great and the scent on my skin is only getting better softer and more alive on my skin. Classy and no grandma here,

Oh this was an absolute beauty. I used to wear it when I was 16 and it was my absolute favourite. It was my signature scent. I loved it so much it left a mark on my life and I named my darling dog after it. Chloé. They dont make perfumes such as Chloé anymore. I dont know why. If I ever find a bottle again I will buy it, of course. So much class. So sultry, feminine, round and organic. A love lost.

A little goes a long was, as do most vintages, esp from that era. It is elegant, and sophisticated. Much like I wanted to be when i wore it..to be honest i think it was too grown up for me at that time...but i loved it then. As i do now. Is moore of a winter, special occasion scent. If there has been a reformulation, i cannot tell, or at least the version now available is fine for me.

I can remember the first time I smelled this perfume. Back when I was in 7th grade and sitting in science class. I thought it was the most beautiful fragrance I'd ever smelled. So grown up and so classy. ( Back in the late 70's I think) It was the first designer perfume I ever bought. I always have a bottle. It's been reformulated and lost some of its beauty. I still love it though.

After a hectic/stressful day you come home and start a nice warm relaxing bath, sip some wine to unwind and let go of your days worries. Dry yourself off, jump into your cotton pajamas, spray on some Chole and slip into bed and let your dreams carry you away. This scent surrounds you in comfort. The sillage and longevity on the skin are moderate. It stays on clothing very nicely.

I wore this when it was first introduced in 1975..I loved it then and it is still one of my favorites..The parfum is the best way to experience it, and a little dab is enough..It brings such wonderful memories, just as classic scents are supposed to do.. I hope never to be without it...

I miss this beautiful fragrance here, in Uruguay. I wonder why they don't realize it's exquisitely feminine and definitely a classic. I'd buy it immediately if I saw it here! I had it twice: first, the Karl Lagerfeld version and then, the Chloe's one. Love it!!!

Because Im a male I personally dont wear this but a girl I was just in an elevator with was and I loved it on her. It smelled wonderful, white flowers and rose,and asked her what it was so I could jump on here and see the note breakdown. Super-gorgeous.
