Violette

I love violet. It's one of my favorite notes and perfumes that feature it as a note are usually an instant love. Violets unfortunately have scent molecules that cause you to go anosmic for a brief while to the aroma which gives most violet-forward perfumes notoriously terrible longevity. That being said, I went into this expecting poor longevity. I was not prepared for how poor it would be. The scent is an absolutely perfect violet. It's a really jammy, fruity-sweet violet with good amounts of sharp powder. I loved it and immediately it sat close to the skin (so basically 0 sillage). I was willing to be ok with that, and even ok with the price tag, because I love violet scents that much. However the longevity is basically 15 minutes; I'm not even joking. I sprayed it on the back of my arm then just walked around the store and waited in line to purchase something and I went to sniff the back of my arm again and it had the faintest ghost of a scent. Heartbreak. As a scent, it's perfect for daytime, spring or summer. It has a charming, timeless innocence about it. It brings to mind the image of wearing a long white cotton dress and bare feet on the grass. It's lovely but at this price point for this performance it's essentially useless. A 10/10 scent, but basically a 2/10 experience.

A powdery-soft cloud of violets that clings to skin like silk. It has that vintage charm but never feels dated ... just romantic, like an old letter tied with a ribbon. You wear this when you want to feel calm, grounded, and utterly feminine in the most natural way. I’m honestly in love with the Atelier des Fleurs collection by Chloé. Every scent feels like a tribute to a single flower, letting it shine in its purest, most beautiful form. And Violette? Dainty Fairy. This is an interesting one. It took me a few wears to really appreciate it. I found it almost childish in the opening, but it does settle into a powdery violet. It's unlike any other violet soliflore I have, and I have a bunch! After a week of owning this, I crave it constantly. It's so easy to wear, so dainty, so carefree and light. I really love all the Atelier des Fleurs but this is easily one of my favorites....the other being Orchidée de Minuit.

Absolutely in love with this. It has a decent longevity and I can smell it all day round. It reminds me of running through a field of violets in summer as a kid, the sun is shining, you are barefoot and you can feel the wind blowing through your hair, all you can hear is laughter and birds. The violets are so fresh and photo-realistic but also somewhat candied which makes it even more nostalgic.

@prini.covich I do have both the Violette & Iris perfumes but they smell different in my opinion. Although they both share the powdery note, Violette is a soft, soapy, creamy powdery floral whilst the Iris is more of a earthy/green powdery floral. They are both very beautiful classic floral scents but unfortunately short lived.

There is some citrusy note at the opening. It makes it refreshing and light. I like this interpretation of violet, however it lasts maybe 30 minutes on my skin. Such a pity at this price point.

This is the genre of perfume I am moving toward - simple and supremely well done. No crazy evolution of notes, just perfect skin scenting bliss.

I am on a constant search for a perfect violet following the sad demise of Penhaligons Violetta, and my second love Santa Maria Novella's Violetta. I had hoped that Chloe Violette would deliver what I am longing for, but sadly for me it does not. It is a beautiful scent, and it smells natural and expensive (which it is), but I don't even get a hint of violet flowers from it. To me it has a pepperiness reminiscent of nasturtium, perhaps this is the violet leaf extract coming through. But where are the flowers? Not in this bottle, not for me. However, I have layered it with Goutal La Violette and this is a big improvement to both fragrances. I turned to Goutal's La Violette after Penhaligons discountinued Violetta, and although I like it and it is OK as a stand-in, it has too much rose for me and lacks the green notes of Penhaligons' Violetta: but layered with Chloe Violette's peppery greenness, together they transport me to the springtime woods. It's an expensive combination, but for me it is worth it (unless Penhaligons re-release my all time favourite).

Opens with a funky citrus zing, making me wonder if this violet was somehow left out in the sun to sweat. But that thankfully quickly settles into a buttery, musky violet, draped in soft, leafy freshness. It’s got a faint pat of sweet, powdery makeup, maybe a light and airy, soft blush. Sort of the type that lingers as fairy dust on pretty compacts and silk scarves. Violette is not overly floral, not too sweet, starring just a cozy, plush violet in its full simplicity. If violets had skin, this is what I'd imagine they’d probably smell like.

Beautiful soft feminine scent. Poor sillage (sadly). Moderate longevity. I stay away from powdery scents as they are often too heavy and mature but this one is light and youthful.

'Watery', veeeery light candied violet that you find in the new Guerlain Insolence or Creed Love In Black. Not musky, though it gets a tad bit ozonic but not at all sharp around the mid-phase. Is it worth buying a full bottle? I don't think so.

I really got obsessed with buying this perfume - Violette Chloé. I wanted it so badly (even though I didn’t know how it smelled, but reviews mentioned raspberry, and raspberry is my favorite note in perfumery). There was nowhere to test it. The price was high. I decided (after thinking about it and searching for a few months) and bought it at an unreasonably high price - 50 ml, brand new, still sealed in plastic wrap. In my mind, I imagined it as Pink Boa 777, just without the vodka note. I don’t know why I didn’t check the “reminds of” section - Gucci II is listed there as the first match. I remove the plastic wrap from the box, spray it - and it’s Gucci II. The only fragrance that truly resembles Gucci II. Let me tell my story about Gucci II. I didn’t have it back in the day and have no personal memories associated with it, but I really wanted to try it and understand what it is. The first time I bought it second-hand - it was a bad purchase, the notes were “damaged.” The second time I bought a mini version for the price of a plane wing, and it was in perfect condition. When I tried Gucci II, I wasn’t impressed: I didn’t get goosebumps from its beauty, and I didn’t feel euphoria. I simply smelled it and decided: okay, now I know this fragrance. Of course, I would have loved to wear Gucci II back when it was released, and I probably would have sold my soul for that bottle and for the way it smelled in the 2004s. But now it doesn’t inspire me, and it reminded me (sorry to Gucci II lovers) of an expensive interior scent - like something you’d smell in a boutique with luxury clothes, shoes, and bags. So Violette is very similar to Gucci II - I compared them side by side. Of course, there are nuances, but overall it’s a great alternative for those who miss Gucci II. The only thing is that you won’t get the same projection as Gucci II: it stays close to the skin, while Gucci II had a long, powerful sillage.

I am a lover of photorealistic soliflores or floral fragrances that showcase a realistic floral with just a few other supporting notes. I was in the market for my first violet perfume and debating between Annick Goutal’s La Violette and this. Surprisingly, I couldn’t find anyone comparing the two. I got a sample of the Goutal. It smells just like Canal’s violet chewing gum—sweet, tart, candied, mouthwatering, girly. I like that one a lot, but was hoping for something that felt a little less candy-like, a little more sophisticated to my taste, since I can only buy one violet fragrance for now. Unfortunately, samples of the Atelier des Fleurs line are hard to find or quite expensive, and Chloe’s Violette wasn’t available to try in my city. I don’t recommend blind-buying, but I felt pretty sure this would be to my taste based on the reviews I could find. It worked out—this fragrance is feminine, soft, realistic, skin-scent violet, but less candy-like than the Goutal. It has just a tad of powder, which feels airy rather than heavy or dusty. The scent feels youthful, fairylike. If you want a violet that is another step less girly, you might try Hermes’s Violette Volynka, which has a leather note and feels more “serious.” The violet note comes and goes, as violet does, so sometimes you get a whiff of the whole scent and sometimes you get a whiff of the light powdery base on its own. Someone did mention layering the Chloe and the Goutal together. I expect that would be lovely. I purchased my bottle from a reputable grey market seller; it is three years old by the batch code.

I find Violette an ethereal fragrance, as if you went outside and surprise, the breeze brings the scent of some violets to you. You're not even sure where exactly they are growing, but now you want to go look for them. It does have a lightly powdery phase but mostly it's gently fresh. It is also not especially green, nor is it musky. This is a completely inoffensive fragrance that could be worn anywhere. I wore it yesterday also and it wafted up at me for hours, but didn't project much. My husband also liked it on himself. Of all my violet fragrances past and present, this is the least assertive, and the most like what I imagine the living fragranced violet flowers to smell like (the little violets that dot my lawn have no fragrance). After smelling Chloé Violette, I'm thinking of planting some.

I got this violette and hysope and I must say after years of not finding nothing lI am kindly suprised Very nice interesting and different scent violette is different that many violets on market today.. it is clean, green but still soapY and sometimes powdery, sometimes peppery .. very elegant but close to skin .. longevity is good but projection not so strong as others from this line

I've been reading the reviews with interest as I have the Iris version of Chloe, which I adore. Unfortunately, it is out of stock in NZ at the moment and I thought the Violette may be a good replacement. I'm wondering why no one has mentioned the Iris one as similar, as to me it is the most powdery violet I have tried in many years? Does anyone have both the Violette and the Iris?
