Aigle Imperial

New scent profile for me and I'm intrigued. The oud is most obvious in the opening, smoky, woody and slightly dark. The opening stays a while before the scent transitions into its fresh phase: light, clean, airy yet aromatic with a soft oud-woody base. And this is why I like it: not oud-heavy, not sweet, not watery-marine-like but a breezy freshness with a masculine energy; somewhat a versatile and fresh-airy-oud fragrance, if you will. Two or three sprays will last all day; this is beast-mode and can fill a room if over-sprayed. I wear it to the office and social occasions. The eagle has vitality, elegance, great balance, is special and different from most fragrances I have and have smelled. The scent is uplifting with a level of freshness that surprised me, it is good for summer as well; one of my favourites. Did some research, so allow me some comments on the oud: The Oud Assafi used appears to contain a pure five percent Oud Assam extract (Aquilaria Malaccensis) which is recognized to be exclusive, rare and expensive and sourced from the Assam region in Bangladesh. Please see Faris.n review on Nuit des Rois and his take on the oud used in this collection, it seems to be the real thing. Aside from this, I also enjoy the oud in Oud Malaki and Black Incense Malaki, though both smell very different from the Eagle but are very enjoyable as well. Overall, I think that Chopard is a high quality house and its fragrances deserve more love and recognition, as most have their own personality and sophistication about them. This collection may be pricey but still cheaper than e.g. Hermes Bel Ami (on FragranceX). Because the eagle is a unique fresh oud blend, it is different from a lot of other fragrances in the freshies or oud genres and, in my view, deserves a sample/test trial (and/or others of the line). Perhaps not for everybody, but I happen to like it.

I love the way this fragrance smells on my skin. The unique blend of citrus (which is a brief player here in the initial moments before disappearing) with a spicy, powdery vegetal green tea note in the opening is interesting. When the heart notes with their patchouli in water effect arrive and combine with a smooth, non-animalic oud note, this fragrance really captures me. The base introduces an even more pronounced oud note, that may be natural. There are no earthy, animalic or medicinal notes here. This scent, then, is a rarity, a clean fresh lightweight oud. Performance is incredibly dependent on weather conditions--at least off my skin. In the cooler conditions with low humidity the projection is minimal, the longevity is slight. This performance issue extends to air conditioned environments. In hot, steamy conditions, however, this performance issue is alleviated. I have noted when I have tried this fragrance on warm, humid days, that it fades as I sit in the air conditioned indoors but springs back to life shortly after I head outside. As such, this may be the ultimate "office oud" since it will virtually cease projecting in a/c cooled office settings only to come alive during an outdoor lunch or a break spent outside in the heat. In summer conditions, the longevity is considerable and the scent has moderate projection for the vast majority of its life. It is this revitalization in humid conditions that makes me think that at least some of the oud used here is the real deal. Ultimately, if you are looking for an office safe or warm weather oud, and you can find this fragrance at a substantial discount, it is well worth considering.

Woody Aquatic. Fresh, cool watery accord with a woody weight, and a light green okamossy spiciness (matcha/ginger). Since oud is the woody accord here, Aigle Imperial does an Arabic nuance to it, something saffron-like but very mild. Luckily, the sharpness does tonedown at the dry down and Aigle Imperial becomes a musky aquatic woody fragrance, with a somewhat oily feel. Fresh, cool, clean, watery, slightly sharp, lightly woody, and mildly spic. If you are into sharp aquatics, this is nice, especially that Arabic woodiness. It is very likable and could be an entry fragrance for people just getting into oud, as the oud here is minimal. It is similar to Armani's Acqua di Giò Absolu Instinct, which is also by Alberto Morillas. The deep murkiness that develops at the drydown along with that arabic woody feel makes me prefer Aigle Imperial over AdG AI. Versatile masculine fragrance, suitable more for slightly cooler weather. Big "Like"

A woody aromatic fragrance created by Alberto Morillas. A mix of Oud and wood, with salty notes and citrus. Also some nice fresh ginger and Green matcha tea. Not the strongest projection and it does sit quite close to the skin. Good longevity though. A wonderful scent from Chopard

Really gorgeous and unique. Amazing opening too! Lasts very long. Can be worn every day as a signature scent. Unique as it blends oud, citrus, a bit bitter at first. Stays strong throughout the day but adds notes of ginger, sandalwood.

#1229 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I've never experienced YSL "M7 Fresh", and since the scalpers on eBay want $300 plus for it I never will. But this could fit right into the D&G "Light Blue" line or be an "Acqua di Gio" flanker. It's a summery kind of scent. I'd almost class it a freshie. It stands out from the crowd a bit with the matcha and olibanum. Got this in a one ounce spray and I'm content as it's not something I'm likely to reach for regularly. But I think this is a versatile warm weather scent. Certainly won't offend anyone as it doesn't really project all that much. So it's car pool, elevator, small office safe. But the full size bottle seems a bit pricey for what you get. I'd stick with Acqua di Gio Parfum over this just on price

This is the niche version of D&G light blue intense that is also a creation by Mr Morillas.

This is a curious scent It does have its own unique character, but it does not have enough backbone to really press it to stand out as a remarkable release. Soft inoffensive opening, fresh, but not in your face type of freshness, ginger tea with some bergamot peel soaking in it. Towards the back end, mild, soft woods - the note breakdown claims two types of oud, but make no mistake, this is not the agarwood soaked in the resins that the tree uses as a defense against the mold infection - its very much an westernized fresh wood chips version, that still works very well with this composition, complimenting the soft freshness from the opening, but at the same time it does not provide enough backbone to the composition, as it lacks the vegetal, dark, earthy qualities of the mature oud mixture used in high quality middle eastern niche releases. The performance, at least on my skin, is fleeting, and due to the not very bold scent profile i can't say the projection is noticeable even right after the initial sprays. More of a intimate close to the skin scent. Overall, an ok fragrance, but for me it lacks the "oomph" factor. I got a 10mL bottle at a huge discount, but i don't think i will be going for a bigger size after this runs out.

One of the last fragrance missions I have left to complete is to find a masterful fresh oud-based scent that can be worn all year-round. It's a hard thing to find - not many of them are easily available on the market. So when I saw the notes & accords of this one and saw the brand name, Chopard, I became interested. This is not cheap, however. And I had trepidations because the perfumer behind this has an excessive catalog that includes throw-away scents. Positives: - the packaging is top notch: we're talking a sturdy box that is a lid-type box; you open the lid and in the base part of the box sits a nice velvety pouch which contains the bottle; there, also, is a nicely presented small book/pamphlet that gives excerpts on the various other scents in this exclusive Chopard collection - the bottle itself is made of heavy glass and the sprayer/atomizer is top-notch - the fragrance itself smells natural Negatives (based on my opinion): - although the fragrance smells natural, the smell itself is quite weird - you see that "matcha tea" note? It's unique, right? Don't know one other fragrance that has this note listed - and that uniqueness comes at a price because the moment you spray this, it smells like opening the door to an unfinished basement that hasn't been aired out in a month - so basically smells like musty, dusty wood - then you get this "airiness" that ensures this fragrance is not thick or suffocating - just the contrary, in fact. This fragrance is indeed airy but just know that it's not a "clean & green" or "fresh/blue shower gel" type airy. This is a "just opened a window to air out a musty unfinished basement" type of airy To Conclude It's too easy to label this an overpriced scent. However you have to admit that the packaging is top-notch and even though you might not like the smell, it is executed in a realistic fashion. I will definitely be returning my bottle BUT I am now curious enough to get samples of one or two others of this line to find that elusive fresh, oud-based scent I'm on the hunt for. 5/10 YT channel - The Scentrovert

Wow! A weird perfume... but one that I like. The concept here is a little confused. Is it: - a fresh spicy, green tea aquatic inspired by East Asia? - an ozonic leather chypre? - an animalic Middle Eastern style oud? - All of the above. ✅ Even the name - Imperial Eagle? This perfume is like a choose your own adventure novel. All that said, this is a quirky, bold fragrance that I can't stop sniffing. I think it's a little bit too masculine for me to pull off, and it has a certain level of y2k hedione synth-designer about it, maybe even reminiscent of CK One? Still, it makes me curious to try more of Morillas's creations for Chopard. Performance is very loud. Try it!

It began sweet nutty and settled to bitter citrus herbal... It's heavy on the summer kind of blend, and i think it has some herbal type pf oud (not really oud). It's like a herbal dark green citrus blend with ginger & patchouli... and i wonder, why does it say here that it has matcha! maybe a touch of tea yes but not matcha! It's a nice fragrance and honestly i don't know how much they charge for this! i saw some bottles on ebay that costs $110 which i see kind of fair for such blend although it worths way less than that!

If you ever wondered what Ombre Nomade and Versace Pour Homme together would smell like, wonder no more.. this is it and it’s pretty nice. It’s a fresh, marine, barnyard oud that “sometimes” reminds you of the great Oud Minerale. Performance is top notch, a daily driver that create a nice bubble around you for a good 8 hours. 100% worth it at discounters.

I don’t really smell the oud in this at all. To me it smells like the stereotypical representation of an old lady’s perfume and I just cannot wear it.

This is more fresh and green take on oud. Excellent airy and wearable oud. Reminds me of The Night from FM with fresh notes instead of rose. 9/10.

Oud and sandalwood forward. Second best in the collection after Agar Royal. Though sandalwood is not listed as a note.

@BGBG Guaiac Wood depends on type can be vanillic and creamy resembling sandalwood.
