Cedar Malaki

Been looking around and KIVing expensive bottles of this until I got a tester for $65 SGD. Great value I may say. Cedar Malaki opens with a strong cypress and wormwood but it quickly mellows down to a very acceptable opening and with the cedar and distinctive Oud Malaki dna. A very wearable Malaki flanker and an easier wear than the Black incense. I have the og, BI, Rose, Amber and now the Cedar. Still thinking about adding the Musk and haven't seen the new Leather anywhere yet (didn't check out Chopard's boutique also). After the opening, the prominent and main cedar notes, Middle eastern cedar it seems stays and hang around with the og dna. Projection seems pretty normal and not strong but there's a silage and trail around where you go and walked, decent silage. There are also similarities to Black Incense in the later stages of the scent development with the leathery Ambery earthy woody aromatics forming the remaining scent on skin with the cedar and the tonka giving this balance with the slight sweetness. A nicer easier wear on the Oud Malaki dna for anyone who likes cedar. Better than the ratings definitely. Prefer this to BI actually.

#1238 in my "Tour de Fragrance" This is a very approachable woody scent. It is to cedar what Gucci "Rush" is to sandalwood. I have two scents on the shelf very much like this: Nishane "B-612" and Mercedes-Benz "Private Man." The B612 is more than twice the price of this, but a little more well-rounded. The "Private Man" about $15 less than the price of this but doesn't perform quite as well. I think this is first rate business wear that easily makes it to lunch and is inoffensive in any setting. Not bad at all for $50. I consider it a successful blind buy. I have Leather Malaki on the way, but at this point I would rank the series as follows: Black Incense Malaki Oud Malaki Cedar Malaki Amber Malaki I have no plans to evaluate Musk Malaki. I gave up on primarily musk scents back when Jovan Musk and Coty Musk were still popular.

Nose Note #950 Yep, this smells more "Leather Malaki" than Leather Malaki itself. Not about cedar accord at all. This is indeed close to Black Incense and Oud Malaki, so as a flanker this fits in wells - it's 100% for people that only wear, say, Black Incense Malaki and don't want to buy ANYTHING different, but are ready to try something a little different, so they collect the whole line. I'd say this is more palatable than Oud Malaki. I don't like the Halfeti DNA. Here's the same Halfeti DNA, but going into Gucci Guilty Absolute direction. Smelling it upclose fries my nose badly - and this rarely happens. Never with Xerjoff, Amouage, the strongest ones, you name it... Men only. All these Malaki basically share equal performance. 7.3/10, no cedar at all

I love this. Picked it up on a pretty steep discount and zero complaints. Opens with the rounded spice of cardamom mixed with a rindy grapefruit, within seconds a really nice suede esque creamy element comes in, which I am assuming is the labdanum/tonka. The Cedar and patchouli give a really nice slight smokiness and robust wood accord. Great aromatic lift from the cypress and lavender as well I think this is extremely well done and well worth the cost you can find at discounters. The only thing I will say is that if you are looking for something extremely dry and woody/spicy, dont buy. This will have too much of a lift from grapefruit and aromatics for you more than likely. Longevity and projection both well above average for me

Wonderful scent. This absolutely carries the Morillas DNA in the opening: on my skin it starts with a pomelo/lavender accord, then the Tonka kicks in during the mid. On dry down you get that cedar and pachouli note. For the price (found this at 50$) it was an incredible pickup; in fact the whole Malaki line can be found at an absolute steal from most discounters and is worth every penny. Perfect signature scent, and I would bet it would perfect year round scent (although may not have the gusto to cut through a very cold winter). Super safe blind buy especially at the sub 60 price.

Not as Cypressy, cedary, or cyprioly I expected. Smells really good and definitely has same vibes as Black Incense Malaki and somewhat Oud Malaki. I definitely get some incense off of my skin. Late in dry down, it's hard to tell the difference between this and Black Incense Malaki. Longevity is good but it stays close to skin. Like a woodier and quoter version of BIM. I would say if you have BIM, you may not really need this. I perssonally prefer this though a bit over BIM because it is not as loud and I can wear it more often.

This has dark style Alberto Morillas written all over. Deep, rich, a little bit animalic, but wonderfully done. It shares quite a bit of similarities with Incense Malaki, but with added earthiness and cut down smokiness. For me it dries down to a nice leather, somewhat similar to Guerlain Cuir, but toned down. The longevity and overall performance are excellent, just like the rest of the line. Overall i'm pretty happy with it.... oh and of course, how can i forget the beautiful green bottle.

After finishing half of burberry hero EDP , i discovered that i don't like woody smell except if its cedar , and i was right i really enjoy this fragnance , a nice citrusy and aromatic opining that lay the way for the green cedar smell that is amazing to my nose , if you enjoy cedar then definitely get this one especially from discounters , for 60$ its a bargin and honestly even for double the price i will never conplain 9/10 smell

A beautiful lebanese cedar, with the Oud Malaki DNA. It has that metallic / leathery note that the Malaki’s have, but the cedar really stands out. Very woody, very sharp, great for all seasons in my opinion. It smells very luxurious, like a brand new bentley. Another well done fragrance from the house of Chopard. Lasted all day on my skin.

Super woody, hints of fresh. I really like the opening of this fragrance and personally I find the bottle quite sexy. You could wear this with a suit, turtleneck, or a business casual outfit. Networking? Wanna smell fresh but wayyy more mature? This is the pick.

Opening starts off a little rough, like earwaxy, but it dries down in about 20min to a very sophisticated woody scent, this is excellent for more formal occasions, and lasts really well too.

Malaki line up is sophisticated. As much as you would expect from a luxury jeweler. It all starts with heavy faceted glass bottle and similarly massive cap. They both show the intention. The scent opens herbal and woody green in an elegant way. I would not call it sparkling as grapefruit. Rather green forest in a spring time. However, it diminishes after 15-20 minutes. Later the composition gets linear but in a most anticipated way. You feel the core, you want it to stay and it stays. Around 4-5 hours on my dry winter skin. For me it's a great choice for colder days. It perfectly blends with your clothes. It blends with your skin. I would call it a skin scent in a bit of opulent way. Enveloping, classy, it makes you feel confident and kind but not overwhelms the environment. This is a cedar but dry woody with lots of tonka. Maybe with bits of smokiness of labdanum. Can't feel the patchouli so don't worry if you try to avoid this note. Surely you can wear it while shopping in Chopard. You know how much your're worth it but don't have to show it. Speaking of a worth. It's worth trying and definitely worth buying with this price level. It feels much more expensive as some highly priced niche brands. PS before you decide, try Amber Malaki and Black Incense, they are even better. You feel the quality. Though opulent as some Arabian fragrances they are filled with the quality instead of molecule fillers of that other ones.

leather, leather and leather. if you smell something else than leather you are lying. its very hard, smoky and leathery, very masculine, similar to gucci guilty and qae'ed al shabaab. if you don't like leather and smoke this is not for you. this fragrance has nothing to do with freshness. if you wanna smell like a guy who wears leather jackets, drives motorbike and wears big black boots, that's it, but otherwise absolutely not. BUT ME PERSONALLY as an Acqua di Giò line lover, I absolutely love this perfume even tho I didn't expect this type of smell when I was ordering it. this perfume is high quality, it lasts about 6-8hours on skin, on clothes i'd say 8-10hours, very good projection, very heavy perfume - some people might have migraine if you spray more than 2 sprays. I'll probably buy another bottle of it, I really enjoy the smell.

So far, this is the best of the bunch. It’s bright and fresh and clean. Great for any cooler weather type of day. Not overly engaging, but pleasant for a high school mentality. Honestly, if you’re an adult and thinking about buying a Malaki, save and double-up your money and buy something else. This whole line is kind of disappointing if you aren’t young or new to perfume.

This is a beautiful smooth fresh woody scent. A light fresh citrus in the opening and mid is balanced really great with the aromatic accords. but its all about the wood and some fresh spices. In the drydown i get a bit of sweetness which helps the scent staying fresh and airy. So good value. longevity and sillage are moderate. All in all a well done job

The top note is a harmonious blend of cypress and tonka. After about 30 minutes to an hour, the cedar gradually appears. Not much has changed since then. Overall impression: formal and noble. The fragrance lasts very long and the scent of this perfume is still on my clothes after a day.

smooth woody and aromatic notes. Dense and rich, but still fresh. I get some sweetness and fruity accords as well. I think it actually works best when the temperature starts heating up. For the price from discounters this is a solid

I think, it's a very heavy dark fragrance. I like it but it doesn't make me say wow, Friends told me it's very strong and woody, It's not an easy fragrance to wear.

I like it. Very masculine scent. Smoky and woody.

Not what I expected at all, a green, woody fragrance; but it's rather "woody", ambery. It doesn't smell bad, it's just really "meh". It needs time to develop, because the opening isn't great, tbh. Not much personality or originality here; it smells like a mash-up of tons of smelled before. Basically, all I get is cedar(not a good quality one, like let's say D.S & Durga BM or something like that), some powdery labdanum, and a touch of something green/floral. I smelled it at Harrods; I was told it's already sold out (lol.) Of course it is! This is an offering for people who likes designers, or starting their "niche journey". Hardcore niche and indie enthusiasts: keep walking, nothing to see.

Disappointed, one of my blind buy fails. Im a fan of Alberto and the Malaki line and his mysterious dark creations I thought its going to be dry and for special occasions only, unfortunately with this one all I can smell is mango bubble gum. Too strong, too heavy, too woody oriental animalic, too linear fragrance

Cedar Malaki is advertised as a unisex scent but I don’t think many women would want to wear it. I wouldn’t for sure and I’m into unisex fragrances in general. It opens with a very pungent cypriol oil or oud smell, even though oud is not listed, very strong and unpleasant. After about half an hour it becomes more bearable and the other beautiful notes like cedar, cypress, cardamom, labdanum, and patchouli start to shine. It’s a very rich smelling fragrance and it changes throughout the wear but doesn’t get close to something I would like. It’s smells very green, aromatic, earthy, musty and woody and it’s very intense. I can see this only wearable in the close or below zero Celsius temperatures. Amazing performance and very beautiful, emerald green bottle! I can appreciate the quality of the materials used in Cedar Malaki but it’s not for me. I see a very masculine, mature man wearing this one. I gave my sample to my husband to smell it and he said it’s too much, too heavy, he wouldn’t even sprayed it on himself.

To me this is a fail, it has the heaviness of the line and some aromatic bits that come out of nowhere and those aromatic bits smell cheap, some soap bubble gum combination. Off the paper strip smells like soap, off skin smells heavy aromatic, but really not in a good way, you expect freshness and it's not fresh... no.

There is a chemical in this that I really don't like - it reminds me of walking into any cheap Arabian perfume store; loud, synthetic, and unlike anything that could come from nature. Unfortunately all I get is "diffusive fixative", covering-up any cypress or cedar that may also be there. Not for me.

if youre one of the crazies that wears guilty absolute then you are obligated to at least sample this! this has that morillas rubberiness

I am a fan of Black Incense Malaki, have a bottle, and stumbled across a very cheap bottle of this. A potentially fresher, more cedar driven version sounded great. First impressions on a paper strip and I'd like substantiate a couple items from other reviewers. This 100% has an odd "mango bubble gum" impression in the top, something fruity and sweet, mixing with the underlying rubberiness in the DNA. Thankfully this is less evident on skin, but it's there in the opening 15-30min. Second, this quickly dries down and nearly has the exact same smell in the air as Black Incense Malaki. Not quite the extra cedar and freshness I was hoping for, but since I like the Malaki DNA, this is still a like for me. Time will tell how it wears, and what nuances I might pick up. For now, it remains redundant if you have Black Incense Malaki, and I think that one is the stronger fragrance. BIM already straddles the line between designer and niche (successfully imo) but the added sweetness and aromatics upset the balance and bring Cedar Malaki too far into designer territory for my taste. I think this could have been an amazing flanker had they toned down the rubbery leather notes (differentiating it from BIM), and amped up the cedar, having it lead the charge. Some extra green notes would have helped too, but it seems like they just changed the bottle, and added some sweetness and aromatic notes that lack definition. Still an interesting scent, and far and above better than many designers on the market! Just don't expect photorealistic cedar, or cedar to present with any clarity. What is there is surrounded by the very thick, loud notes of this Malaki DNA, which are thankfully enjoyable still, but obscure any added notes that would have differentiated as worthwhile flanker.

As tecfield and others below mentioned, this is basically a LITTLE bit fresher and sweeter version of Black Incense Malaki, but I'd say about 90% the same fragrance. It's sad that within the same family/line they make something so close to each other. I mean, you could do a totally different flanker if you wanted, especially when you are labeling something as "Cedar" and there's little to none of a real cedar accord. While expecting a REAL chypre/green flanker of the Malaki DNA, I was left disappointed, especially after owning BIM. If you already own BIM, this is totally redundant. They are so close to each other it makes either of them redundant. In the dry down they come apart a little bit more, but still redundant. If you don't own BIM and are curious about this fragrance, it's definitely a nice one, but don't expect a super green fresh fragrance with lots of cedar and moss and the likes. It's dark-ish, it's spicy, it's somewhat leathery, on the dry side of things, with a tad of smokiness in the background, cedar in the background, and yes, what others below claim of a mango bubblegum smell somewhere in there, I can agree, either mango o maracuja, but it's certainly there. It's a strange mix. Masculine for sure. Worth exploring if adventurous. Not a daily wearer rather a bit more formal.

You can sense the original Oud Maliki notes in this... closely reminiscent to Black Incense Maliki... with this you get the well rounded patchouli and cedar blend as supposed to the leather note. This frag takes its own unique direction. On a side note, if you like your Penhaligons Halfeti range then you'll enjoy COM, CBI and CCM.The other Chopare Maliki range do not hold any similar dna to these 3 either. Talk about hard to find... this is the last place I'd go looking for a frag... I'm sat in the reception area of a hospital north from Doha in Qatar and this hard find is available here LMAO.

Het heeft weinig tot geen overeenkomstige ingrediënten met de Malaki Black Inscence en de Malaki Oud, wat is het dan waardoor ze veel op elkaar lijken ... ik dacht de kruiden maar die zitten hier niet in, hm Ik heb er geen verstand van, maar ervaar dit als iets boozy-achtigs. Ik hou het op Leather Malaki It has little to no similar ingredients to Malaki Black Incense and Malaki Oud, so what is it that makes them so similar... I thought it was the herbs but they are not in this, hm I don't know anything about it, but I experience this as something boozy. For me Leather Malaki is the best.

You can recognize the Alberto's signature in this fragrance. It has Gucci Guilty Absolute vibe but made to be more woody and wearable. Notes are well blended, norhing screechy in particular. Easy to wear, most probably the reason its unisex.

I couldn't pin point to what it reminded me of and bam i just realized its has uncanny resemblance to a Gissah Perfume La Luna. This ain't smokey but the smell for first 2 hours is very similar to La Luna.

Cedar is really nice on men who aren't oak cypress lumberjack or the oud into themselves variety. And though I haven't tested this, I bet it's better than Cavalli Serpent Homme.
