Gardénia Tahia

I was sent a sample of this as a surprise and it surprised me. I expected a floral bomb and on first spray that’s where it was heading but on the dry down the vanilla sweetens it up and makes it into a fragrance quite unlike another floral I own and I found it very pleasant. The name does make me chuckle though if only because a romance author I used to read had all her heroines smell of gardenias and I will forever associate that with those books of the 80’s Maybe not quite a safe blind but for all but I’ve enjoyed wearing the fragrance and it’s office friendly. I was not however swept off my feet by mr tall dark and handsome or a cowboy so maybe the gardenia mojo was not working its magic with this one.

This honestly smells like a cheaper version of Amouge's Honour EDP to me, what with its fruity and slightly citrusy rhubarb opening, gardenia heart and woody base.

I wanted to LOVE this, but it has not been a very successful blind buy. These is something vaguely minty in this that reads like mouthwash, and it totally overpowers all the other notes. Compared to other Chopard scents like Vanilla Malika, this one is very light and disappears very quickly.
