Iris Malika

I am not an iris fan, don’t think I have anything with a prominent iris note in my collection. I have only tested 3 fragrances from Chopard so far and I have bought one, but Iris Malika is the iris for me! A gourmand iris.. I have just a small sample that I testing now but i am blown away. This Iris Malika is gorgeous. It is delicious and alluring. It’s a warm and balsamic, spicy and powdery, and very important to me, a powerful and projecting scent. It’s unlike anything I’ve had tested before. It might be something similar on the market but I am not an iris fan so I might have skipped testing it! Nobody talks about Chopard fragrances on any media currently but I am starting to think that we’re all missing out! Iris Malika is a sweet iris, almost syrupy, sweetness resulting probably from the wild berries and pink pepper combination but it’s spicy in the same time. It has spices both in the top and base notes, so it was to be expected. Nothing harsh, offensive or over the top. Spices nicely balanced with the florals and the balsams. The middle notes consist of a big bouquet of flowers: the iris, jasmine and my usual favourite, ylang ylang. I suspect that some rose might be added into the mix, but it is not listed anywhere in the notes. I assume that I like iris here because it is refined, soft and sweet, not cold, earthy or lip-sticky and it is smoothly balanced with the ylang ylang and rose. This is how I perceive this sudden change of taste in my preference. It’s magical somehow! The base notes, mostly woods and warm notes: benzoin, tonka beans and peru balsam offers the florals some depth and oomph. Because Iris Malika is a dark purple beast of a fragrance! The price of this beauty is less than most of the designer these days and the quality is top notch! The bottle looks amazing in pictures at least . Chopard proves that luxury doesn’t have to be expensive! Iris Malika is a “feast” for my nose! I need a bottle ASAP!! EDIT: I found it on a good deal and I own a bottle of this beauty!

Iris Malika is a true dark purple beauty! The juice inside completely responds to the beautiful design of the bottle! It got so many faces, layers and depth - really great one! On my skin I got lot of Wild berries at the beginning - very juicy and thick, but playful, smooth, mature and bold at the same time. Absolute amazing scent! The fruits here are kind of syrupy, like some kind of cherry liqueur... The iris here is modern type of iris - mild, smooth, well balanced, slightly sweet and powdery. Nothing dusty, old-fashion, dry or hard to wear. It's not leathery type too. Later in the drydown there are smooth and rounded woody-balsamic notes, which are soften by creamy and cozy benzoin-tonka notes. It's very delicious and alluring. On my skin Iris Malika is blended so well, everything is smooth and silky. If you love cozy and deep night-out perfumes, please try Iris Malika - stunning scent!

I have to agree with the review below me. LVEB Intensement is a nice frag but it's way too sweet and over cooked for me. Too gourmandy on a fake level. It's just over done. The first half of this frags journey is how Lancome should have done intensement. It's far more sophisticated and elegant. The sweet sickly sugar of intensement is not in this, but there is a gorgeous, subtle sweetness, just the perfect amount. So as I said, the first half of iris malika is Intensement, the second half loses that likeness and becomes very iris forward, which I'm not loving quite as much. For me, the first 2/3 hours is where this frag shines. After 5 hours it's a barely there skin scent. However, for the price point, this frag is a pure gem.

It is so lovely. I adore it. One of the best new scents with iris perceivable thorough the entire duration with its facets enhanced by the other notes. It is perfect for autumn. In spring its warm aspects are enhanced - benzoin and tonka bean background holds an iris-jasmine heart and gently fruity top. Beautiful. It is versatile, sensual, powdery with juicy aspects. And the bottle is beautiful with glassy top and rich colour. It also lasts really well and I keep catching wafts of this beautiful scent thorough the day. Up to love. It lasts 24 hours on me becoming sweeter with time. Fantastic!

This is how I imagine Dita Von Teese to smell like. Bold Powdery lipsticky iris that is very dense but light at same time. When I smell it, I imagine a classy lady wearing a high end black suit or dress, bold red lip and a glittery clutch sitting down at a very fancy restaurant. She is a femme fatale. I do agree with the vintage comments but its also very modern. Leans feminine for sure but also a man with a certain elegant attire can get away with it. Not for summer, needs a certain time and place. Edit: I wore it for a Dita Von Teese Burlesque show and it was a magical moment :)

My usual scent pusher had 20 % off of their already discounted wares, so I paid €50 ($54) for this. A very succesful blind buy. This is so good! It smells... well, purple. Like nothing in my wardrobe. Dark and bold, interesting and quite unique. It’s fruity, yes, but not at all girly. It’s more like a rich and well balanced marmelade and less like smoothie. Words like mature and expensive spring to mind, but none of them fit. This is not an elderly spinster wearing purple velvet and pearls. No, this is a gypsy woman! Fiery, enigmatic and utterly sensual.

A great modern, approachable iris. A boudoir, cosmetic type of scent that never turns too vintage or old-fashioned, thanks to a fine composition overall. The notable berries and resins add some gentle nuances that make it chic and luxurious. Someone mentioned that it smells like ultra-expensive lipstick and they aren't wrong. The performance is good and feels like a second-skin in the best way. This is my first fragrance from Chopard and I'm quite impressed!

Hesitated a little bit to buy it, fearing that it might be too mature aka old granny smelling, but after trying it out in Sephora (luckily the tester had plenty of juice inside) I fell in love immediately. It is indeed a more mature perfume, but very sophisticated and has something aristocratic about it. The staying power is amazing and so is the sillage. It is for sure a perfume that will make quite an impression.

ooooh, iris, berries, vanilla and resins, very sensual concoction :) it's quite balanced, not too sweet, not too powdery and the berries lift the seriousness of the fragrance, making it a flirty seductress indeed. It's the type of frag that does not at first draw you in perhaps but the ones that lingers and you want to keep sniffing more :) the frag is not purple to me tho, it's bordeaux, with some golden sheen.

OMG I blind bought this one 🙈 I couldn't find reviews in English on YT, but I trusted my instinct First spray - 😖 After a few minutes - 😍 I don't know how to explain, but this to me, smells like a stronger/deeper/spicy version of current Miss Dior(2021), like if Dior were to make an intense version of Miss Dior It's delicious on my skin I'm getting the berries. Damn this is such a sexy scent

Cannot stop sniffing this. It's addictive! It's not hard to like, but definitely not blind-buy worthy. I like how linear it is, it does not change much on drydown. subtle and beautiful! if you like powdery sweet feminine scent that is elegant, with good performance do not look further.

I cannot begin to describe how much I love this perfume. A beautiful, envolping fragrance which gets better and better on the skin. Nothing screeches or is too loud. Warm, sophisticated and superbly blended. Suffice to say, I have a backup bottle waiting in the wings.

I blind bought this just arrived. I love it. It’s got a designer feel maybe some bit of a Jimmy Choo fever or a good girl but better. it’s now been 4 months and i love this perfume!

Unbelievably overlooked perfume! A+++++ a must try. I have a huge collection of perfume. This is one of my absolute favorites, a hidden treasure.

Chopard Iris Malkia is a strong like for me. This is what the LVEB line should be like. It is less sweet then that line and in my opinion more sophisticated but still it has that sweet youthful appeal. Upon first spray you are greeted by berries. Blackberry, and tart raspberries. After that dissipates it becomes a softly spiced and woody amber iris smoke. A soft smoke with the powdery iris shining throughout but this is not a dry wispy iris. This iris is warm and inviting. Sweetness in this perfume is very balanced. Not sugary and cloying like in LVEB line and there is none of that almost plastic aftertaste that line has. My husband generally hates iris perfumes because he says they are dry and boring and I get that. But this iris is comforting, a bit sensually inviting. Asking those around you to get a little closer. The vanilla is balanced, not to much, there is a touch of a violet lipstick accord but it doesn't smell like makeup. Warm, slightly smoky, woody, sweet and fruity. Everything, every element is balanced perfectly. I think non iris people would enjoy this perfume. I can't wait to wear it for a full day but the more I smell it the more I really, really appreciate it. The bottle is a good representation of the scent. A rich dark purple 💜. Iris, blackberry a touch of violet, sweet spicy vanilla and a wisp of wood smoke.

I was invited to a Chopard event recently and this scent was in the bathroom. I sprayed as I was leaving and initially I thought ‘oh no this is strong’...ten minutes later and I couldn’t stop sniffing myself. This is an underrated beauty. On first spray it seems intense, there is powder and a hint of Black Orchid in there which I don’t love. Leave it to settle and then the magic happens, I don’t really sense many of the notes listed but I do get an intoxicating sensual dark floral with a hint of vanilla in the drydown. For me it’s too much to wear for the office for example (I’m sure others could pull this off) but for evenings, dates and special occasions this will turn heads. A chic scent which really does evoke the colour purple as others have said.

this smells like Premiere Luxe Oud Avon, which I hate...but this one smells more feminine and sophisticated than that one, I like this one a lot. This one doesn't seem to me to smell like lipstick like the others say. I rather feel like it smells like freshly dyed hair, like Olia Garnier hair dye or Casting gloss l'oreal, ammonia-free, Premiere Luxe Oud It smells like hair dye too but with ammonia which I hate, The smell of ammonia makes me sick. Anyway, I bought this perfume based on the reviews here thinking it would smell like lipstick or powder, but it doesn't at all. I like it but it's not what I expected to be.

I'm going to come back with a more detailed review, just received this fragrance yesterday, and let me tell you, it's a good one! On my skin it's definitely not (at any point) an iris-dominant (as the name might suggest) or lipsticky scent, I downvoted the Margiela 'reminds me of', because no way. The bottle suits the scent so well, absolutely wearable but with some depth and mystery behind it, reminds me of Velvet Orchid because of this (and probably because of the dark purple bottle). Lasts and projects quite well.

I got a sample of this in a swap recently and this is quite possibly the best powdery, sweet (but not overly sweet) lipstick iris scent I’ve smelled so far. It’s really balanced in all departments. It starts off pretty powdery but as it dries down it becomes more woody and less powdery. I think it’s like a more refined and elegant version of LVEB Iris Absolu, so if that was too sweet for you I’d give this a try. It’s also pretty inexpensive at about $65 for a 3.4 oz.

This is a mature but also quite modern take on iris. The opening is definitely very mature and leaning vintage, but after 30 minutes or so it developes a beautiful, subtle sweetness to it that reminds me of watermelon och bubble gum. Not juvenile at all though! The dry down is warm spicy with tonka, and the iris is still there but a bit toned down. The longevity is all right, but it sits quite close to the skin if you don't overspray it. Very sophisticated scent!

This smells like a VERY expensive red lipstick. Come to think of it, I've never found a fragrance that smells so close to a lipstick as this one. It's powdery, slightly creamy, but also deep, warm and seductive. It feels vintage, but not dated, in the same way a velvet black dress with a leg slit will never become old-fashioned. This is the kind of perfume you'd associate with the femme fatale in a neo-noir movie. Gorgeous.

This is a gorgeous scent, it's not really like any of the (remind me of's) She smells like Keiko wild berries and Dior Homme had a girl child She's very cute and pretty yet the iris makes her sensible. 🥰 I think it's too expensive, I wouldn't repurchase at the price I paid. I don't think it's worth over one hundred AUD doh! But it is very nice if you like iris and berries like I do.

Intense lipstick scent with lots of soft make-upy raspberry and strong (slightly synthetic) sweetness. It’s nice and pleasant, but quickly becomes overpowering, you might choke just on one spay of it.. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

Very waxy like when you bite into a jellybean in texture. Rather sweet and heady gourmand. The notes all blur where I can’t discern anything out of the sweetness except some initial fruity sharpness which might be berry. Not awful, not wonderful. Could be seen as comforting? Too sweet and shapeless on my skin, for my tastes. Lasts fairly well and does get more unisex in the far dry down. Bottle is gorgeous.

I blind bought it based on reviews and notes. Unfortunately it went all wrong for me. I agree it is an intense lipstick scent, utterly suffocating, overpowering and headache inducing. Very sweet but powdery sweet; definitely not for gourmand lovers. Don't expect too much fruit in it. It smells very artificial to me - like a mixture of various cosmetics, talcum powder and toilette refresher. It is mildly mature but doesn't give me a grandma vibe. If so, rather middle-aged woman. And definitely not classy. It slightly reminds me of Tiffany & Co Tiffany. If you want chic, elegant iris, go for Bois d'Iris by Van Cleef & Arpels. On a more positive note, for sure it is long lasting and strong. Iris Malika for some reason gives me the same vibe as Love Chopard. The prominent notes are different, but they share a similar powdery/woody bomb DNA behind the scene. If you dislike Love Chopard, you'll probably dislike this one as well.

Warning this is for a mature audience, particularly a mature woman. A deep iris scent with powdery vibe- mixed berries may be more like boysenberry or mulberry. I think earthy/woody iris lovers would consume this as a Saturday night beverage. This is my first full wear, so i may have to update but as of right now- this is not for me; i feel like an elderly elf in the woodlands collecting blackberries. EDIT: Im getting more jammy berry but still the iris puff prevails. If you love Iris and mixed berry perfumes - there is no doubt you will LOVE this one. Signed Keebler

A mature strong scent, I get only a hint of berries on the first spray, no spices or woody notes unfortunately. After that it has no layers, only plain overbearing and longlasting smell similar to iris. Such a disappointment.

I blind bought this perfume and was really excited to try it. Unfortunately this is not the scent for me. It gave me a massive headache and reminded me of a grandma's suffocating perfume 😖

I would believe if somebody told me that this was made in 1989. or even 1976. old, harsh, agressive.

Bouquet floral, poudré , très féminin , envahissant et entêtant... Iris bas de gamme totalement synthétique

Well, it’s gorgeous. When I tried it on in store I was drowned sensory speaking and it smelled very weak, but I decided to blind buy thanks to all the reviews, and it’s quite strong and so beautiful. It reminds me of crystal noir in energy. It’s quite typical smelling, like a HIGHLY diluted Francesca bianchi perfume-opens powdery, a little leathery, settles into juicy dark florals with powder. This is a crowd pleaser no doubt, I wish it had a little more edge or a little bit of a surprise element but for perfume beginners this is probably fantastic. I don’t think I’ll buy it again but it’s nice to have.. if you don’t have a collection of over 30 perfumes that are wildly imaginative emotional and interesting this is very very worth it! If you love crystal noir you can blind buy. But again, to me, it’s very pretty but the dry down is quite generic. I would go for Francesca bianchi instead of this to get my hit of juicy powdery florals. If I want something that is simple and seductive I could go for it but again, not unique enough for me.

I always find it so amusing that in the advertisements for many iris perfumes the Dutch iris variety is shown. This variety not only has no scent coming from the flowers, it also grows from a small bulb, not a rhizome. It is not, to my knowledge, used in any way in perfumery ( except in the advertisements ). It is the roots of the iris germanica and iris pallida that are used. And if they wanted a gorgeous picture of an iris, the flowers of both germanica and pallida are quite beautiful, with some even being spectacular. I notice that even Fragrantica puts a picture of a Dutch iris when listing ingredients and fragrance notes. Speaking of notes, this looks lovely, and I can't wait to try!

Freaking amazing! I love Iris scents, this is no exception as a love of mine! It comes in a beautiful purple bottle which is absolutely stunning to look at. As for the scent, it gives a makeupy iris smoke. Don’t misunderstand me the smoke is slight but it gives it a unique twist which makes it different from other iris scents. As for longevity it’s a stand out for about 6 hours or more. Sillage is definitely a compliment getter. I feel this is a more of a late summer, early fall scent. I do believe wear what you want. Unisex fragrance anyone can wear this! Highly recommended! It’s a 10 out of 10!

There should be a law banning the use of "iris" and "oud" in a fragrance's name without it expressively smelling of the stuff. As it happens, this smells like a mix between Lancôme's sugar monster LVEB and Tom Ford's Black Orchid: a bit-too-shrill floral layered on top a bit-too-crude spicy patchouli. Why innovate when the formula has worked countless of times, unleashing on the market the ilks of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle and Mugler Angel (the latter of which spawned Chopard's own attempt under the name 'Wish'-which they did) Iris is in here probably, if you squint.

Thanks for sharing the notes @MadScentist. Now it makes sense, since rose was not listed above. Need to give this a a couple of full wears, but based on a little wrist spray, this smells like a rosy version of Dior Homme with syrupy berries. (It also strongly reminds me of something else, but I haven't figured it out yet.)

Just got this delivered today so I have only sprayed on the wrist. The opening reminded me of Gris dior which I didn’t really like. Once dried down it had this powdery soft scent to it. Almost like a soft version of hypnotic poison which I find great. Will come back to speak on it again once I’ve worn it out!
