Musk Malaki

Okay, first thing I have to say before anything else is that first thing you'll smell after first spray is freshly cutted black pepper and it's very good incorporated in this juice, it's so good. I can't even describe this, it's like if you made a salad of white flowers and add black pepper to it as seasoning. This is literally how it smells like, but it's so good. I literally can't even describe this. It's so good and it's very unisex. I can say this is absolutely unisex. I have never smelled more unisex fragrance than this one. It's not leaning to masculine, it's not leaning to feminine, it's straightforward, just unisex. Anybody can wear this at any age. You can wear this if you are 60, you can wear this if you are 15. Very versatile, very unisex, very unique. The only PROBLEM with this fragrance is that the longevity is like 10 minutes and projection is very intimate. It's just close to skin, so this is not like room filler or anything like a beast mode. It's just unisex, neutral, very airy, very unique and very soft fragrance, but it's great. I can't say anything else, it's great fragrance. If I had to rate it, I would say that it's probably like 8/10 but if the projection and longevity would be at least 30% better i would rate it higher!!

This is very challenging. I blind bought based on ratings and reviews. The notes look like it would be a lovely woody, musky leather scent. BUT... What I smell instead is something akin to the smell of a mechanic shop. This smells almost identical to what my hands smell like after working on my car (changing oil, replacing hoses, belts, etc.). This is not animalic. It's not woody, nor musky, nor spicy. It's industrial. And the performance is abysmal on my skin, which is probably a good thing since it's not in any way a pleasant smell. Unless you really enjoy the smell of hot metal and motor oil. However, oddly, on first spray, if you smell it from a few inches away, it smells almost rosy, but it's very faint. I also get that rose nuance on my clothes. But on skin, it all metal and motor oil. Not sure what to make of this one, and I'm not sure what most of these reviewers are smelling. I wish I smelled what they do, but I don't. EDIT: It seems you just need to smell this one from a distance. If you bury your nose into your skin, it’s very industrial/motor oil, but if you maintain a distance from the skin, it’s a pleasant soft musk with some floral rose undertones. Not bad. I’ll stick with this one and see if my opinion changes.

In the opening, I get a green/floral soapy musk. Shortly after, the show starts, and it becomes masculine by displaying animalic facets, with a noticeable smoke note and green undertones. The base is a soapy dark leather with a metallic facet (if it makes sense). The later drydown will go back towards a more unisex musk (keeping a hint of leather), right from where it started. Performance seems modest, but I get whiffs now and then, so not bad actually. (and its decent pricing allows for overspraying, and getting a strong projection - but I would advise against, as it might eventually become cloying in the long run). The Smoke note followed by the leather note (is there a drop of violet leaf, also?) made me think of Fahrenheit (very remotely). What an olfactive journey! A in nutshell: a very unique leather-y musk fragrance, kept on the masculine side of the border. While not hard to wear, it still might be the most challenging of Chopard's Malaki line, and I can see how it is a love or hate type of fragrance. For me, definitely a love! Fall days, 30+

This is a gorgeous fragrance. It's very similar to Lalique Pour Homme Equus, actually, but a bit juicier and sweeter. On me it opens very herbal, but a little bit powdery-- I think this is a combination of the top note musk accord with cedar in the middle. I would swear I can detect fresh herbs though, like coriander. There is a leather quality but definitely suede, not anything more aggressive than that. After a couple of minutes I get the black pepper too. It performs well on my skin, better than the others in the line, except for Black Incense Malaki. Glad I have them all, just missing the Oud Malaki-- but out of all, that one is actually the least interesting.

I find this fragrance definitely unisex and very soft, there is nothing sharp or loud in here. I can see myself wear this to work when I want to feel confident and put together. To me the musk in this feels like a clean, ironed collar shirt. You just feel serious wearing this without it being heavy. It says closer to the skin so people won't smell you from miles away so it's definitely office safe for this reason. Longevity is amazing, I can smell the musky scent on my skin the next morning still. I am a female and I enjoy wearing this a lot so if you are a lady and like to try something unisex this could be a good choice!

Available in the Middle East or at least it was. This juice is a soft and classy fragrance. This presents me the same Aura as I get when I smell MFK's Maculine Pluriel ...something of that nature. this is clean, distinguished, fresh, subtle muskiness. It retain an airy quality to it without inability to project. At the same time, the musky quality about it isnt one that is so bold as to subject one to olfactory fatigue. A few sprays goes a long way. This is one of those inoffensive scents that is suitable for the workplace but whats refreshing is that there isnt anything that this can be mistaken for.

Even though it very much smells like the notes listed...it has an interesting fruity shampoo vibe that's making it more feminine than you'd think. Like it's definitely pepper, musk and leather no doubt. But also a little raspberry shampoo touch and I'm not sure where that's coming from. It smells like a put-together single dad who works at a corporate office and one day he had to use daughter's shampoo because he ran out. I weirdly like it though. Very unisex, professional, but definitely playful. Not for everyone.

This is amazing stuff, I finally got them all, and I will add a longer review about this one, but for now this is just to let know the Malaki fans that this flanker is in stock in fragrancenet at an unbeatable price. I got one from ebay just last week for 65 on a best offer, and then I saw it yesterday at fragrancenet even cheaper and I already ordered another one to have one in stock, this stuff don't last long on sale and not even in inventory.

Update: I got this one for a while, now really accessible in Fragrancenet, and I ordered a couple of them, since it has the Malaki signature, it smell really nice, although Oud Malaki is my favorite, but this one it also stands out, is really masculine and refined musk, worth to have it in my collection. I have all the previous Malaki's and I can't wait to smell this one, has it been released yet? Is not even posted in their web site.

I wish I wouldn't have wasted my money on Yves Saint Laurent Cuir Blanc...but alas I did. Really good for the money and in the same vein as that in my opinion but projects better and lasts longer. Don't do like I did and waste your money. Hurry up and get this before they're gone! 9/10

Soft suede leather, musk, with spicy notes. It's a beautiful musk. I'm on a Musk kick right now and this is awesome! Just above skin scent which is good for a musk.

This is the best blend of musk & leather. I found myself sniffing it repeatedly trying to figure out its notes. I'd definitely want my man to wear this.

A fresh spicy, soft, & powdery musk. A very close second best in the Chopard's Malaki line after Oud Malaki, in my opinion. Musk Malaki is musky through & through, with a clean musk in the same vein as Jovan's Black Musk. It's accompanied by leather that adds a bit of a light spicy woodiness. The pepper and cedar are not very obvious. It's a clean, slightly-soapy musk. More warm & inviting. This is Encre Noire's musky cousin, as in they give the same vibe but are not quite similar smell-wise. It's a really good, safe, inoffensive scent for those relaxing days & after shower wears. Versatile, would work really good as a winter daytime & summer night wear, & anytime in fall/spring. Would be a decent addition to any wardrobe as an easy reach fragrance. About any age wear but leans more toward the mature side. Big "Like".

This is a creamy and very interesting musk. If you have any other of the Malaki line this goes on the opposite direction of all of them in terms of silage and stays very close to skin. Leather is very subtle and dances in the background; so does black pepper. In my honest opinion, it could have used a more stronger leather scent and it would make it a much more interesting fragrance (but then it might not be unisex). This smells very unique and it is so smooth that from time to time it feels it has rose in it. Super unisex.

The stepbrother of Malaki series. To be honest, this one is my least favorite from the Malaki series. It's on the fresh side and doesn't scream oriental at all. But still, I love the scent and I wish they create it thicker, beefier, and more oomph. A beautiful musky scent, slightly leathery, but isn't barnyard-y animalic type. Clean, airy, fresh with touch of cedar and black pepper. For me it's perfect for a bed scent because it's create a beautiful skin scent. As for SPL is below moderate, unless you over spray it.

It smells like a leathery soap in a metal dish. Clean, crisp, cold, and distant. The leathery and metallic aspect created depth to this otherwise clean and soft scent. It is kind of a strange composition but it is done harmoniously. It sits relatively close to the skin. I think this is a perfectly year-round scent and a great layering agent to some other leather or musk forward scents (I tried layering with Habit Rouge Rouge Prive by Guerlain, simply stunning). A solid like.

Just watch the review by @theaetherealist. It’s perfect. The leather note reminds me a little of Guerlain Cuir Intense - a little industrial, but softer and less floral. Other than that, this is unique. I don’t get the metallic note others mention, but maybe that’s the industrial aspect of the leather. To me, it’s fresh, dry, and crisp. Warms up slightly in drydown like a lightly tanned fresh leather.

I get more leather and pepper than musk. On me, it's a very soft sharp-ish woody spicy leather scent. Very dry and quite interesting. Although it was a successful blind buy for me I wouldn't recommend anyone blind buying it. It's quite polarising and may come off somewhat masculine.

I used to own Musk Malaki by Chopard, and I genuinely liked it. The scent is very clean and smooth, exactly the kind of fragrance that feels perfect to spray on right after stepping out of the shower. It has a simple, fresh character that comes across soft and comforting rather than loud or complicated. For anyone who enjoys understated, easy-to-wear musks, this fragrance does that style very well. In fact, the review by AMajeedQT from 06/13/20 describes the fragrance perfectly, and I found myself agreeing with many of those observations. That said, over time I realized the scent was a bit too simple and linear for my taste, and I wasn’t reaching for it as often as I thought I would. Because of that, I eventually traded my bottle while slimming down my collection. Still, for those who enjoy a clean, fresh musk with a just-out-of-the-shower feel, this is a very pleasant fragrance. Scent: 7.5/10 | Longevity: 7/10 | Projection: 6.5/10 | Overall: 7/10

I love musks and Nicolas Bealieu perfumer has a beautiful creation called Tubereuse from Headspace in my collection both of which raised my wish to posses also Musk Malaki. Unfortunately it's not as nice as I expected after all. Shampoo-y vibe is confirmed from the beginning but remains until the end which makes the scent rather feminine than unisex for me. The initial loud musk fades a bit while black pepper and cedar emerge. Faint leather note appears soon then, it is quite green first and turns rather suede later fortunately. In an hour and a half as the notes are blended and the scent developed it is a shampoo-clean musk with pale leather in background. Sillage is moderate - intimate.

This was a blind buy, in an effort to broaden my horizons a bit. It didn't work. I sprayed 1 spray on my wrist and it was just too overpowering and too screechy. It was on for about 10 minutes before I had to scrub it off. After scrubbing and washing twice (!) it still had a faint smell (a pretty nice one to be fair). I'm not sure what I was expecting actually. Maybe something reminiscent to two of my all time favourites Musc Noir and Pure Musc from Narciso Rodriguez, without the floral notes. No doubt it's a good perfume and good value for your money, my nose just couldn't handle it.

A Intense Black Pepper / Cedar Wood combo à la Comme des Garçons , it's ok but the musky base really smells chemical, disturbing almost.

Definitely a leathery musk kind of scent. Opening is sharp and I get pick up pepper and some woods. The musk follows almost immediately. I don't get any animalic notes out of it per se, but if you smell it up close, I think the pairing of leather and pepper, in combination with the musk, emits an almost dirty or sweaty quality, although fairly faint. If I smell it from afar, it smells rather pleasant and nearly floral. The musk in here reminds me of Montale's Black Musk/Musk to Musk. Not too soapy or powdery, a little bit woody and smoky, maybe the lightest touch of something floral. If you can get past the leathery notes, it's very much wearable and pleasant actually. Unisex, although to me it smells decidedly more masculine. Drydown is just a rather simple musk with some leathery tones to support it. All in all, it's not the most interesting musk fragrance but it's certainly well made and a good one to wear as a ''dumb reach''. Performance is okay, nothing crazy here. Apparently discontinued and as of today can still be found online for a good price. 7,5/10

There is a musky richness at its core that whispers of desert winds, ancient secrets, and perhaps a hint of very expensive leather upholstery. It’s a scent that clings lovingly to every thread of your clothing — and your ego — long after the curtain has fallen. In all fairness, Musk Malaki is not for the faint of heart. It’s for those who live boldly, speak in italics, and treat subtlety as an optional accessory. And in that regard, my dear friend Massethis wears it with impeccable flair. A fragrance, like a friend, should never be boring — and I thank Massethis for delivering on both fronts.

Someone told me that the Malaki series all share a similar DNA to one another. I'm sorry, but no. Musk Malaki bears no resemblance to its siblings. The star here is a borderline animalic musk, with nigh green twinges that tickle the nose, and a clean and crisp leather accord. It leans feminine, as can often happen with musk-forward scents, but still maintains the unisex appeal of this line. The leather is in the vein of Hermès Kelly Caleche, which always strikes me as handbag-ish, in the best possible way. This creates an interesting balancing act where the musk is slightly animalic, and the leather is very much not so. I love balancing act fragrances. Who doesn't like when their perfume reminds them of the circus? Anyway, it's a beautiful fragrance, though I suppose the other reviewers are correct. This isn't for everyone. For people like me, however, it's a must-have.

I see there's a lot of confusion about the performance of this fragrance. At first you might be under the impression that its soft and weak, but when you actually test it you'll see that it projects better and lasts longer than you'd expect. This fragrance has some serious base notes. I actually rated the longevity with 'eternal' because it still projects after 24 hours.. that's rare. Regarding the scent, I don't know what I think. As a guy (27) it's hard for me to confidently wear this. The scent has both a masculinity and femininity about it. It has a modern aspect and an old mature one.. some might actually say grandma vibes (that's of course very subjective). Overall I think this is a pretty good but polarising scent..Oh and the color of the juice is a very subtle purple, not pink like in some pictures.

I have this. The juice is not pink, it is pale lavender. The clear glass bottle with silver metal trim is stunning. There is nothing like this scent. It opens up with animalic leather and musk, then settles on the skin within 30 minutes to a sueded leather and much cleaner white musk accord. It smells like fresh cleaned skin, only better. It is dry, crisp -- not the words you would typically use to describe a musk. It becomes aromatic and fragrant but has controlled silage and projection. Longevity was quite good, easily the best of the malakai line. This one does not stink of eastern spices like many of the rest in this line. This is a modern interpretation of musk. It is a must try. You may be able to find some on ebay, otherwise this is going to be a rare catch.

I am loving the use of suederal, cedars and musks in this. Skin, but better than skin. It has that ineffable memory trigger phenomenon that some fragrances have, where it reminds me of you a time and place in your distance past, thats just out of reach from memory, but the smell has a visceral feeling of bittersweet longing for this memory. Please tell me that other fragheads out there know this phenom when smelling certain frags. Clean, sheer, yet also complex. I would wear this on cool nights in the summer or in autumn.

Very light and clean Musk here, almost soapy. The top has some fruity and floral nuances that mesh well with the soapy- ness. It’s not your typical soapy scent, because of the pepper and leather so it’s a bit weird in a good way. Although light, it stays around a good amount of time and projects for the first 2/3 hr mark. It does have a slight animalic accord that’s reminiscent of Oud, but is definitely a year round fragrance with spring and fall being where I think it would shine the most.

I blind bought a nicely priced bottle and I enjoy the scent. Many reviews here are love or hate reviews, I find that a bit strange to be honest. It is a light watery musk with black pepper scent. The musk makes it light and clean, the pepper (maybe also the leather, which I don't get a lot of) adds some sharpness. All in all, nothing that would make people jump on you for a hug, also nothing that people will run away from. It's just "nice".

This isn't blind buy worthy guys. Bought it online and almost had to shower as I couldn't stand it. Can't feel the cedar at all and the musk smells weird to me, maybe the combination with black pepper is what makes it sickly. Soapy but far from a clean and well-balanced scent. Doesn't feel neither masculine nor feminine either

I agree 100% that this is a strange fragrance but one I instantly fell in love with. It’s elegant and clean but at the same time smells like a machine shop. Drilling holes in oiled metal. This will be a love for people who enjoy petroleum notes. I can’t see many under 35 rocking this. 10/10

Disappointed. I had good luck with Black Malaki and blind bought this as it sounded "challenging". No challenge here . It smells "common". Like I've smelled this many times before. Do not blind buy. Grade : C minus.

This sounds like something you'd either love or hate. I'm intrigued by it....I never really see Chopards for sale. I think this would be something Joan Jett would wear and " rock"... Pun intended :D.

Be careful before you buy this one, this might not be something usual that you wear. You may either love it or hate it. But it is definitely worth a try if you don't mind the risk.

Great scent for when you enter the Witness Protection Program. Because no one will remember you or the scent...two thumbs up!
