Orange Mauresque

I am in a phase when all I want to smell or smell like is citruses, ginger, orange blossom, neroli, petit grain and soft, fresh, lighter scents overall! Orange Mauresque from Chopard fits perfectly in this scenario. I will admit, it’s a warm, slightly sweet citrusy perfume with a moderate longevity and sillage and not the freshest but it is divine! I suspect that there’s some light pink rose in here as a floral note, besides orange blossoms, citruses and a beautiful resinous, balsamic base. But everything feels very soft and delicate, like a summer night breeze. I have bought it blindly because I found it online for an amazing deal and I regret nothing! It’s getting towards fall in Europe and Orange Mauresque is rather a spring and summer perfume, but when the weather is mild and sunny like today, this works perfectly, thanks to its resinous base notes!! Bottle and cap, spectacular colour combo! Heavy, luxurious, clean cuts, good quality materials used. The pouch that the bottle comes into doesn’t match the luxurious feel of the bottle and the box is plain, hard cardboard, emerald green painted to match the glass bottle. So, I can tell that some thought was put into creating this collection. Value for money in my case is fantastic. I have bought my bottle for around 60% off FRP and I am eyeing two more from the Gardens of Paradise collection! Cannot say if it’s similar to Killian’s Love Don’t be Shy because I have not tried that one, but I have sampled Sintra and I much more prefer Orange Mauresque. It’s so much more natural smelling, more well balanced and beautiful from the first seconds on the skin. Sintra I liked mostly in the dry down while Orange Mauresque is a full love without a doubt... If you want performance, this is not great. Lingers nicely on fabrics but it doesn’t radiate much in the air to create a perfume bubble around you. If you can get this for a good price and you love a warm citrusy floral perfume that smells elegant and classy, I would whole heartily recommend Orange Mauresque to any woman, no matter their age!

Ooooh, dreamy. Maybe one of the loveliest orange-themed things ever; not sharp or juicy or zesty, but tending more to sweetness and powderiness; for me it has more of the woody-herbal overtones of petitgrain and orange blossom than the fruit itself. Drop-dead classy with resins so sweet and mild I also thought there was a little of the gentlest, most upscale white musk in there as well. Almost has notes of cinnamon or amber, not obtrusive, but just making it better yet. Overall it's hypnotically beautiful; quieter, yet somehow more opulent, than Lutens Fleur d'Oranger, which is really going some. Rare and expensive and maybe not totally unique; there are certainly many things in the same ballpark for less money, but not sure I can think of one so wonderful. If you see it for anything like a reasonable price, jump on it. Hidden treasure. (weirdly: fragrantica lists only two perfumes named Mauresque, this and the superlative Lutens Cuir Mauresque, and both of them are for my money maybe Best in Shows! Mauresque is the charm for my nose, obviously.)

Love, love, LOVE THIS. The first spray quickly reminded me of some Montale parfums. The heavy, sticky, potent resinous ambers. This is not your vanilla Amber, it’s very sweet and woody at the same time. I don’t get orange fruit at all, however a very beautiful orange flower. A very strong orange flower absolute lingers behind the amber, making it quite floral at the same time. This is so interesting, every time I smell it I get two worlds at once just competing each other. Reminds me of the Peru balsam you find in Montale Mukhallat with the orange flower you get in Montale Orange Flowers. I love this because it’s so unique. Very impressed.

First of all, Gardens Of Paradise collection is far more superior than 'standard' Chopard fragrances like Wish, Love, Iris Malika etc. However, it is as expensive as high-quality niche perfumes and I'm not sure that worth the money at the end of the day. In Poland standard price is around 250 EUR for 100 ml; from time to time you can get it at a discount for about 100-130 EUR and the discounted price is reasonable for what you get. I've been testing Orange Mauresque for a few weeks (in cold weather) and agree with most of the below reviews - I can imagine how this fragrance can vary on different skins and in different conditions, fluctuating between orange, orange blossom, incense and vanilla. It changes a lot between the opening and other phases. It starts as a blast of incense and sharpness but then it quickly sets on the skin as rather intimate, amber-vanilla scent. Very wearable and versatile, not sure if groundbreaking but still I cannot think of anything similar to it (except Orchidee Vanille by Van Cleef & Arpels - somehow it gives me a similar vibe to Orchidee Vanille, regardless the fact that prominent notes are different; but on a more general level they are the same types of perfume to me). It is slightly oriental, but very likeable for anyone who doesn't like straightforwardly oriental perfume. For sure an interesting option for someone who likes vanilla and wants to step outside of this comfort zone. I've had 3 of the Gardens Of Paradise fragrances - Rose Seljuke, Miel d'Arabie and Orange Mauresque. If you're looking for a comparison, here it is: Rose Seljuke is - no surprise here - prominent on rose and woods and the sharpest of these three. Potentially the most fresh, feminine, romantic in the drydown. Miel d'Arabie shares a similar background but creamy spices and honey take place of the rose. It is not sharp at all - no pink pepper, cardamon or clove - which makes it more creamy and a bit of gourmand, leaning towards autumn-winter scents. Orange Mauresque is the creamiest of all and least oriental. If you're looking for a good longevity/sillage, then Rose Seljuke is a winner here. However, all of them have good performance, with Orange Mauresque being more of a skin scent quickly. Somehow all of them are similar in their nature and very likeable. I'm not a fan of oriental scents and they are very wearable to me, even safe for office if you don't overspray. Probably safe blind buys for a lot of people, but I'd sample them first, being conscious of the price tag. Orange Mauresque is the safest of them - just don't be scared after you spray it. All of them are leaning feminine to me or at least are absolutely OK to wear by a woman.

Intense, natural smelling, aromatic orange scent with floral notes and benzoin, I get a candied almost vanillic base. Lovely and full bottle worthy. There is something that for a split second reminds me of Eau Duelle, even though this is not a vanilla centric scent.

The seafront of the big resort town in the middle of spring, fruit tree garden is near, it is already warm, nice and peaceful, but yet not so hot and crowded, would like to stay here forever. I feel soft sweet fleur d'orange, kinda soapy (in a good way) and powdery.

Fragrance itself is nice. I am pretty sure the floral note is rose and it's a nice one--I often dislike rose. I would label this unisex and versatile. Gotta use a lot to make an impact though, at least from a sample.

This smells like a strangely aromatic and inviting resinous tree. Smooth dry wood, sitting in the background, dressed in oranges. A bit musky too but I can't really pinpoint the source for it.

It doesn’t seem like niche parfumerie. It smells like caramel, resigns for me, very sweet.

The scent itself is very nice. Warm and classy, versatile. But longevity is terrible.

The opening has a slightly bitter freshness built around a very familiar citrus accord. It does not smell like fruit juice. Instead, it resembles orange peel with its oily rind and essential oil character. There is also a soapy white floral quality, though without the cheap detergent effect often found in this style. As the fragrance moves into the heart, orange blossom becomes more prominent while resins gradually emerge underneath, bringing a touch of honeyed warmth. The result is very pleasant. The orange blossom is not overly sweet, and the overall texture feels denser and richer than many orange blossom fragrances. In the drydown, the orange blossom becomes more distant and diffused. What remains on the skin is a warm resinous base with a light trace of vanilla. The structure feels complete and well balanced. Longevity is moderate, while projection stays relatively soft.

Don’t worth the price, something you can get for much less.

This is an aromatic orange scent. Not nearly as sweet as I expected to be, judging by some of the reviews mentioned below. Unisex, leaning more masculine.

It is the most luxurious orange smell. The sweetness and resins smells are intoxicating.The smell on my clothes is gorgeous, sadly, on my skin, the balsams took over everything and changed it quickly to a lonely honey, my partner smelling only the benzoin vanilla. Only 3 hours later am I slightly back closer to the fragrance found on my clothes. Sillage is also limited on me. It is really a shame, I will try on Chopard's other perfumes from the Gardens or Kings collections, as the few I have smelled are incredibly luxurious and elegant. I am fully sold to a bottle of one of them.

High quality, very natural and realistic bitter orange that blends beautifully with the amber, that makes this slightly dense and resinous while being balanced out by soft florals, a delicate and classy fragrance, however as the scent dries down neroli like nuance starts coming in making this soapy and a little generic smelling. The transition from the opening to the dry down isn't one of my favourites, though the opening is absolutely gorgeous. Must try atleast for that experience, which really is special if you enjoy the note of orange.

Right out of the bottle, Orange Mauresque reminds me of a nice, handsome Claus Porto-style aftershave. But, that freshness quickly gives way to a honeyed sweetness, which then makes me think of a rich, sticky dessert. That sweetness does subside though and what I am left with is a powdery floral amber. It smells like the remnants of burnt incense and orange blossoms...a little warm, but still a little fresh. This is very nice. I can't imagine a time or place where this wouldn't work. I look forward to wearing this more.

I have a 🍋 lemon tree and it has been flourishing for 12 years now and every spring it blooms so dense and with the breeze the wonderful blossom smell filled the garden 😻 - the most realistic neroli fragrance - gorgeous! It has been my signature scent for years.

A strong, realistic orange blossom with honey and a hint of neroli in the background. Fresh and opulent. Very sweet. Was hoping for more resins. Still, very impressive. Edit: Amazing in high heat!
