Chouette Vierge No. 11

First, there's a hint of barley-like fermentation, slightly intoxicating. A touch of flowers and overripe berries, very seductive and captivating. It might be a blend of bay leaf with berries and something else that evokes this barley-like fermentation. Then it transitions to a floral combination that strongly recalls a vintage feel. There’s a bit of sweet and spicy resin from incense and balsamic notes, along with tolu balsam and patchouli. These two layers frequently interchange, smoothly blending modern and classic elements without being abrupt or indistinct. If it stopped here, it would be a bit disappointing. But it doesn’t. As the two layers chase each other to the end, a dry, spicy, and sweet vetiver base emerges. In short, it strongly evokes Gucci Pour Homme I. The base is very long-lasting. The transitions between scents are smooth and well-blended. There's no hint of alcohol or harshness. By incorporating vintage elements without the soapy notes (lavender + sage), it creates a classic feel without seeming outdated. The top notes of barley fermentation and berries are very contemporary and luxurious. The dry vetiver base is elegant and deep, contrary to my initial expectation of oakmoss, leaving a strong impression. Masterpiece no doubt.
