Citrus Grandis

I am generally not one for citrus-dominant fragrances, but wow, this is the elevated, grown up version of Gap Dream I did not know I was waiting for. Here, the scent is brighter, more photorealistic, less muddy, and less astringent. The notes are more distinct. I could tell from the opening — I got the sensation of being squirted by citrus when attempting to peel its rind. There is not freesia listed here, but I detect something like freesia. I paired this with Tropica by Maya Njie, and the effect was a tart tropical spectacle. Loved it!

Huge fan of lemon, in fact that is why I have a bottle of The Art of Shaving-Lemon that I absolutely love. Notes: pomelo, yuzu, cedrat, blackcurrant, verbena, cedarwood, vetiver, sandalwood, elemi, incense, & musk. What I get is Verbena, cedrat, elemi, and vetiver; this fragrance is a fresh lemon beauty. I don't get alot of woods, but I can see where that could be in the scent breakdown, the cedar that is. After the initial spray, you are left with a fresh, citrus, linen type fragrance that envelops the skin and invigorates the space around you. To me, there isn't a lot of movement in this fragrance, and that's not a bad thing. I love the fact that this fragrance is very linear which add an element of mystic to it. Performance is great, longevity is slightly above average, and sillage is decent. Is this a compliment getter, not sure as my wife liked it but it wasn't something she would swoon over. In fact, she referenced The Art of Shaving-Lemon right away when she smelled this one. Overall, not necessarily unique, but a nice fragrance, nonetheless.

I got this in the sample set and of the 4 I smelled this is the most beautiful and literally the only one that didn’t contain a divisive note such as patchouli or incense. The others were revolting to me and I don’t understand some of the glowing reviews. Danes Sauvage was a patchouli bomb that smelled like BO because of the mix of patchouli and spices, Harlem Nights smelled like what I imagine a barbershop quartet to smell like - old fashioned cologne and aftershave, and Long Kiss Goodnight was sour, bitter rose and smoky, mouldering wood- nothing like “a romantic embrace”- I’d rather embrace a corpse than someone wearing that. Citrus Grandis smells like a freshly brewed cup of expensive Earl Grey tea with a whisper of black currant. It’s not unique or innovative, but it’s light, fresh and pretty. If this was priced under $100 I’d buy a full bottle in a heartbeat. At $175 that’s ludicrous and not worth it, but this entire brand is ridiculously overpriced

Got this in the Chris Collins Sephora sampler. For me most citrus scents end up smelling like Pinesol (Light Blue is screeching chemical cleaner on my skin) but this one surprised me. Initial spray was like jumping into a bowl of fresh cut citrus: bright and sunny. I got worried as it started to dry down going through a cleaning spray to baby powder phase. Finally I was left with clean linen/laundry detergent. It's giving "I just finished spring cleaning and now I'm outside gathering the sun-dried laundry from the line". It's been hours and I'm still catching whiffs but it's been exceptionally close to my skin the entire time. Inoffensive, spring office wear. Won't buy a bottle at the moment but will test again when the weather warms up to see if anything's changed.

This is an extremely lovely linear citrus fragrance that leans masculine but is unisex. I would love to smell this on my man. Unfortunately, it doesn't last and it a little stronger than a skin scent.

Mostly pomelo to me, softened by a bit of lemon blossom. Clean and mass appealing.

This review will be harsh but bear in mind I like Citrus Grandis. I've tried about all of Chris Collins' offerings and there is one general conclusion to make: they are designer scents with niche packaging and pricing! Take Citrus Grandis (CG) for example. This is your classic 4711 cologne that was cloned and twisted numerous times. That same herbal-green, fresh, citrusy scent, with a touch of white flowers, reminiscent of barbershops. Here in CG, it is softer and sweeter, which I like. But with below-average performance. Just look at the performance and price ratings above. I prefer CG to the original. The neroli is usually too sharp and herbal in the other iteration of this scent. However, at $175 per 100ml bottle, I can not recommend CG. You are better off with Ferrari Bright Neroli, the original 4711, or Bvlgari Man Wood Neroli, or any other decently priced release. Nice scent, weak performance, severely overpriced. "OK".

Of the three fragrances in his Anima collection, this is my least favourite. It's not that it's bad, it's just nothing special. Lost in Paradise and Long Kiss Goodnight set the bar so high, and this one falls short. It's a very citrusy fragrance, as the name suggests however, it lacks a depth and a punch to make it stand out amongst the many citrus-based summertime fragrances out there. The citrus to me is very dull and leans to the sweet side, almost like smelling Tang beverage crystals. The projection, silage, and longevity with this fragrance are also lacking, whereas the other two excel in those areas. Of the three, this one got me no compliments or even commentary to ask what I was wearing. I will be purchasing a full bottle of the other two for next summer, however.

Like some people who reviewed this fragrance, I got it in the Chris Collins sample set from Sephora. I hadn't even heard of this one, so I looked at the notes and it sounded promising. I was anticipating a complex array of citrus with some green facets from the verbena, with a nice earthy backbone. But all I get is a generic citrus aroma and green tea. It's not bad by any means, just underwhelming. The performance, however, is what really bothers me. I get, at best, 3 hours with maybe a few inches of projection. Overall, I'd say I liked this the least out the sample set. Again, the scent itself is pretty nice, it's just not as nuanced as I hoped, and its performance isn't that good.

Whoa, the first spray of this triggered a scent memory of Gap's So Pink, that I completely forgot about but used to wear as a kid. Unfortunately however, Citrus Grandis is not for me. I get a heavy neroli (or is that pomelo? I'm not sure tbh) which does not vibe with my skin chemistry. Immediate scrubber for me.

Citrus & Verbena together are a no for me. Should’ve learned not to try any again after PureDKNY

a super solar citrus- heavy on the pomelo and with a good dose of musk. not very long-lasting, maybe 1-3 hrs, but lovely as a spring-summer scent if you don't mind reapplying! the soft, sunny character makes it super wearable and melds into the skin, but the more zesty yuzu notes die out pretty quickly and transition into a creamy musk/sandalwood.
