Savant Manhattan Cherry

I will preface this by saying I am someone who absolutely loathes cherry-based fragrances. They have a tendency to smell medicinal, however, this fragrance is absolutely gorgeous. I think the main accords need to be updated to include "fruity," because the cherry note is very strong in the opening. It starts off slightly tart, but then settles into a sweet maraschino cherry, and definitely lingers throughout. I will say however, that despite "cherry" being included in the title, it is not at all the focal point. Much like the cherry in a Manhattan cocktail, it's a garnish; not meant to be the star. Along with the cherry, you get the exquisite booziness of the whiskey which is perfectly done; it's quite balanced and not at all harsh or overpowering. But for me, it's the middle where the best part of Savant happens; you get the spiciness and warmth of the cloves, cinnamon, and Tonka bean that emerge together and are quite harmoniously blended together. It elevates this from being your typical boozy-fragrance to something very special; I've never smelled a fragrance quite like this one before. Once you get past all the excitement of the top and heart notes, you get to the base notes, which is where things become very deep and dark, which is why I think this fragrance is perfectly suited for nighttime wear. The leather and vetiver give Savant a tangible bitterness that once again, isn't overpowering at all. The oak also lends its unmistakable scent to round everything out; perfectly balanced fragrances are definitely Chris Collins' signature. This scent also fits into the rare category that transcends seasonal wear; there isn't a season where this won't work. It has the warmth and spiciness to easily fit in the fall and winter months, while also being sweet and fruity enough to perfectly accentuate the spring and summer months. The projection and sillage are strong, but never overbearing or intrusive, and the lasting power on Savant is through the roof; you'll get your whole night's-worth and then some. For someone who has always stayed away from cherry and boozy fragrances (the boozy ones tend to make me nauseous), I can't get enough of this one; it's seriously addictive. Chris Collins' other super power is the vivid imagery that he crafts into every bottle. One whiff of this will transport you to a swanky cocktail/cigar bar with rare vintage bottles, dark leather wallpaper, crushed velvet seats, while you have on a sharp blue blazer, a slightly unbuttoned crisp white shirt, and the dimly-lit lights illuminate you to reveal a true savant.

This is such a lovely boozy scent! I’d go as far as saying that it is one of the best boozy scents I’ve honestly come across! It opens with a prominent sweet cherry note, but nothing too cloying in terms of sweetness.. and the booze hits you from the get go.. a strong, but lovely whiskey note that is quite photorealistic - akin to the whiskey found in Baraonda. I can’t really speak for the other notes, but it’s evident that it has a strong woody backbone, aided by a subtle sweetness (tonka beans, probably). Finally, I can sort of understand the Angels’ Share comparison, but I don’t agree that they’re similar at all. It might be the booziness mixed with the cinnamon, along with the sweetness exude by the cherry/tonka, but they’re two very different scents. I believe the only real “issue” here is the performance. While I’m yet to give this a full wear, but from the test sprays on my arm so far, this doesn’t appear to be too long lasting. Nevertheless, it’s a wonderful scent and highly recommended to try!!

Ok not too sure about that Enigma comparison as it’s been a while and it’s barely fizzy, not cola either(on my skin). But this is Cherry well done, definitely believe it leans masculine. Quite literally like the description of the fragrance the sour cherry wonderfully envelopes the whiskey. It’s not a nasty alcoholic whiskey I smell from other niche fragrances, it sparks at the beginning and becomes mild as it combines with the cherry. Leather is also not prominent, I believe it’s giving depth to the fragrance in this case, as leather unfortunately overly shines on my skin. This fragrance reminds me of a charismatic person at a Jazz Club. Also not at all like Tom Fords Cherry fragrances or Guerlain, this does its own thing. Might be familiar to some but nice to me. Definitely for colder weather a bit pricey but I will enjoy this sample and wait for the professional reviewers!

Manhattan Cherry is a dark masculine cherry fragrance...at the opening, the black cherry and whiskey notes explode in your face...the cherry is tart, yet syrupy...the whiskey note is spot on; it strikes the perfect balance of smelling boozy without smelling like an alcoholic...within minutes the cinnamon and clove offer a spicy, aromatic backdrop...in the drydown, leather and oak anchor the fragrance...cherry plays an accompanying part, not necessarily the star, which keeps it quite masculine imo...to me, this smells like a male counterpart to Gritti Duchessa (the female version)...they don’t smell the same, but really come off as a his & hers...they both have “synthetic” leanings, but synthetic done right...Manhattan Cherry is more expensive than it should be, but still one of the best cherry perfumes around...a syrupy Manhattan enjoyed on a leather barstool

This scent is pretty dope. I'm not a cherry fan either so that's saying something. This smells like an old fashioned cocktail with the cherry note prominently sitting up top. Compliments galore. Leans fall and winter. I'll be wearing this out at my favorite speakeasy this season. Chris sure knows how to improve on existing fragrance DNA. Scent lasts and smells good. Medicinal cherry this is not! Enjoy! 4.25 overall

Don't let the numbers fool you. Probably based of notes, picture or whatever. The scent is beautifuly warm with notes of cherry. Has the greatest and most beautiful subtle sillage. Not in your face, but you will be noticed all day long.

Nice, straightforward scent; doesn't do anything wild but isn't boring. Smells like having a conversation with a stranger at a kind of cheap but comfortable bar. I wish the cherry lasted longer! The cherry was fun and bright at the very beginning, nice and well rounded, not medicinal or anything, but it was almost totally gone after the first five minutes. Wood, smoky, leather, and whisky for most of the time, then settled into a sort of patchouli, and winding down some sharper notes came out, almost pine or resiny. A few softer vanilla, tonka notes were still there when I woke up the next morning.

The best fragrance in this category, look no further. No other boozy leathery cherry compares. This is sooo well done. Update: I sprayed this on a blotter a whole month ago and it still smells quite strong. Insane quality. Update 2: it’s been more than TWO months and I can still smell it on the blotter. Wtf is this 😭

I liked it very much initially, but it goes on too long. I feel like I'm walking around in an outfit that someone dumped a drink on and it has dried. I wouldn't say cloying, but I would say annoying. I guess boozy scents are not my thing.

Long lasting beast mode cherry-boozy perfume! I would say it’s very unisex, bit heavy so more for evening/fall times.

Ok. I have to get my nose in this one. I have never tested a Chris Collins scent, but now that he has a cherry 🍒 option in his line.....I will be seeking this out to try.

This is a nice boozy cherry scent. It smells like Kilian’s Angel’s Share layered with TF Lost Cherry 🍒
