Ed Hardy Love Is...

This is my once again updated thoughts and review on Christian Audigier's Ed Hardy Love Is... Love Is... is really underated like most of the Ed Hardy fragrances (namely Born Wild since Love & Luck gets its worthy praise and Villain is nice for what it is and Hearts and Daggers is pretty nice.) By the time Love Is... (for men) many people were done with the Ed Hardy line. Besides Villain and Love & Luck, many people sleep on the Ed Hardy line. I feel many people slept on Love Is.. because it really is an awesome complex scent. Love Is... is marketed as a rare "shake and spray" cologne. This means it is a fragrance that you are suggested to shake it before spraying it onto you. This isn't as needed as you use up the bottle since it become mostly blue-tinted. Initially, it has some white to the bottom. Love Is... is very minty, near aquatic due to it. It has a number of similarities to Le Male and a number of Le Male flankers. It is a green fragrance on top of the mint because there is apple to it. The nutmeg and saffron. The base is slightly woody and has some sweetness with amber. I would not say it is not really a dupe or a clone, just one of a many fragrance that smells similar to a scent or two. There are far more fragrances that smell closer to Le Male (Cuba Gold and English Laundry Signature namely) that I would consider clones compared to Love Is... The scent lasts pretty long, about seven hours so despite not being a real beast, it nearly lasts a workday. I find it gives moderate sillage as well for about an hour to an hour and a half. This is nearly a four season scent but I wouldn't say it works on the colder winter days but shines in spring and summer due to the aquatic like mint. It's also more of a day scent to me, especially during winter. Overall I have to give this scent a 8 I love this scent. It is a really scent to me though it is easy to forget. To me, this is the Ed Hardy line's best kept secret.

I really really like this stuff and so does my girlfriend, and she is super picky when it comes to my hobby of scent collecting. I never collect for her anyway, but it’s always great when she enjoys the stuff I wear. This is one of those scents that she really enjoys, but enough about her, it’s about me and how I want to help others make a potential blind buy. First things first, this is incredibly difficult to find. I believe it’s now discontinued and I originally found a small 30ml bottle at first and didn’t even know that it was a shake and spray. I liked it so much I went back and bought a 50ml bottle after I ran out of the 30ml. The presentation and the uniqueness of this bottle and juice alone warrants it a well above average in rating. The best way I can describe this scent is that it’s a soft aromatic that is inoffensive, and has a touch of green. On my skin the longevity is amazing because it’s more of an oily base, you’ll notice that upon your first spray, so try to avoid getting this in your clothes. Main notes that I pick up well are the mint, nutmeg, amber , musk, and that flower saffron. I can also pick up the juniper berries but they are not the star in this. It’s well blended enough I don’t think there is a specific note that stands out or takes over. If you can find it grab it. This is a solid 9/10 for me. I just hate that I have so little of it, and because it’s so unique and smells good, I’m going to have to go easy on the sprays because I’m certain I will have a hard time finding it again.

Smells like fresh shaving cream. Very nice on days when you want something light but distinct. I pick up mostly nutmeg & mint with woodiness in the dry down. Pretty solid & I got it for $10. Very light not the best sillage but for the price I can't complain. 7/10

A blast of lime and pine, followed by subtler apple and mint. Dry down is woody and mildly spicy. The amber isn’t overwhelming, which is nice. I enjoy the bi-color liquid. Refreshing and reminds me of shaving cream, as others have mentioned. A great summer scent!

So again I really wish fragrantica had a neutral button as I can't say I like or love this fragrance but I don't think this is bad either ! With that said though, I can't see myself wearing this when I have a collection of close to 200 frags so for that reason this gets a dislike. This starts off with a blast of basil and mint and to be honest the basil and mint DO NOT mix well with 1 another. What you get from the top notes is pretty much what you get throughout the life of the fragrance but in the mid and the base this does start to smooth and get a little more pleasant but the basil in this is a little overkill. Also to note is that I'm not a huge basil fan although I did like basil in ed hardy villain. This did last 4-6 hours but with only light projection. Overall--- 5.5 out of 10 ! Below average in every category but not the worst smell in the world.

As unique as this fragrance/presentation is, I am really surprised this has been out for two years and has gone pretty much completely unnoticed since. The whole "shake and spray" concept alone is worth owning this bottle IMO, as the effect is absolutely memorizing and makes me wonder why this hasn't caught on yet in the mainstream market. Personally I always shake my fragrances before use, as I come from a background of vaping and ejuice, where shaking is absolutely necessary to blend ingredients properly (as well as steeping, which is something I found happens in fragrances as well, since as frags age they do change and mature). And with this frag, shaking is definitely a requirement, otherwise you would be spraying the clear section first, then once that runs out, you would be spraying the pure blue section (not sure if there is a difference in smell/potency between the two). Not only is watching the blue and clear oils/liquid separate again after shaking very fascinating (almost looks as if the two are actively opposing and reacting to eachother chemically), but the scent really isn't that bad at all. To my nose it is definitely a "cleanly shaved fresh out of shower" style of smell. It has this soapy/shaving cream/aftershave style of smell to it (a bit barbershop old-school 90's vibe). And for me it seems to last quite a while. Honestly I would love to see more fragrance houses attempt this style with some extra creatively, as there could be some interesting twists to this technique. Such as a fragrance that smells one way if you don't shake, and smells slightly different if you shake it up. Or Perhaps be able to choose 3 options, the clear section (fresh and light), the colored section (deep and sensual), or a shaken combined scent (fresh and sensual). A 3-in-1 fragrance could be quite a hit if executed right.

Nicely done, though I didn't get much mint. Mostly I get a mildly sweet/ambery saffron and musk scent, and don't get any synthetic quality. Strength seems to be good or better. Prices are low now, so some might want to consider a blind buy. I don't like saffron when it's this up front in a composition, so I doubt I will wear it often, but I do look forward to a second wearing, to see if new perceptions arise. There's also the element another reviewer called "shaving cream," but I like it here better than others, perhaps because there is no strong floral element to it (no lavender, especially, which can make these scents come across as "old" or "common" masculine). UPDATE: I get the juniper now, and more importantly, I am enjoying the spicy saffron, which is strong but is no longer bothering me. The far drydown is dominated by the "old school" musky amber, but with some of the others hanging in there at lower volume. It's not a powerful, syrupy "niche amber" but it's fairly good, ever so slightly powdery and not too sweet. Overall, this is quite a pleasant surprise, as it's at least somewhat unique, the notes are legible, and I don't get anything synthetic. A great deal at current low prices! UPDATE #2: Now I get quite a bit of the mint and have come to really enjoy that saffron note in this composition. The overall effect is what I think of as "New Spice," so if you like Old Spice, this is one to consider as a variation on that general idea.

I was gifted this. I liked it and it sprayed on like an oil. I remember u had to shake the perfume so the oil and cologne could combine. Upon first spray me it reminded me of that "JPG leMale" type smell but way fresher better way lighter and wearable. I would compare the scent to Just Cavalli I Love Him ( which I love) category by the way it is made--wearable versions of a favorite niche cologne without the headache and syrupy sickly notes. take the good parts out of leMale and leave the nice notes for Ed Hardyove is... This one is more minty then has a warm soft buttery apple nutmeg barber shop smell.i personally can't stand JPG leMale but I can wear the Ed Hardy and like it. Id prefer it be worn in winter days.

The presentation alone is enough to buy this. I sprayed this for about 40ppl in my office & NOBODY DISLIKED THIS!!! This is a true hidden gem!!! BUY BUY BUY
