Tumulte pour Homme

Well, don't know why I've had this for 2 years now and have never written about it. Perhaps because I got this at such low price I didn't give it what it deserved. Tumulte is a linear composition that fulfills the room with cedar and cedar. It is strikingly well composed as it never loses strength and unlike what you may think of its cedar-centered structure, it is so modern and not boring at all. I haven't used it as much as I thought I'd do mainly because I felt it delivered a bit of a mature guy vibe, too serious, too plain. Well... I was again in the wrong side of the town. Today I dared to go for it again and it did not disappoint one bit. It is so smoky... lingering for ages and with such class! I wouldn't recommend it for teens but after, say, 25... this is a winner! I feel like a sexy lumberjack but not cutting any tree... that wouldn't please me. A rebel lumberjack! I wonder why such luxurious bottle plus such beautiful juice faded into oblivion. My guess is lack of marketing... the kind of hype that makes everyone seem to die for such a standard perfume like Aventus and dismiss this at 1/10 of the price. I don't dislike Aventus but come on... I sampled it 3 times this month (from different batches, if you want me to join the paranoid game)and I had to try so hard to come up with ideas for explaining the hype behind it whereas there is no single friend who hasn't complimented me for Tumulte... Anyway... I don't doubt nor criticize the taste of Aventus fans... just feel upset great perfumes get sometimes discontinued by our own lack of support. A big thumbs up for this cedar tale.

No doubt a very similar beast to CdG Kyoto, of which I also have a bottle. For that reason, I considered stopping at the 10ml sample I got, but common sense was lost in the wind when I found a 50ml bottle on eBay for half of what Kyoto cost. The price and the fact that, with a wrist to wrist test, there is still plenty to distinguish the two from one another, saw the Buy It Now button stomped on! I love cedar and I love incense. Tumulte Pour Homme delivers on both in spectacular fashion. Combine that with juniper berries, geranium, sandalwood, patchouli and a touch of bay leaf, all notes I adore, and I'm on a total winner. More cedar and less incense than Kyoto is part of what separates the two and the accompanying notes in Tumulte do the rest to set them apart. It is as strong as most EDP's, so despite being an EDT, you get mega bang for your buck too. Oh, and the dry down? Swoon worthy my friends! It's got me totally beat that this could be a discontinued fragrance from a house that went to the wall. It's got everything. Class, exceptional performance and at a great price. One can only assume that the marketing folk were asleep at the wheel, because with a designer label on it (Gucci Rush for instance?), it would be on every second person's shelf. I guess in an arse backwards way, that's a good thing, because wearing this, you're unlikely to smell like anyone else in your immediate universe! If you can find this stuff, snap it up!

I just received a bottle of Tumulte today through the mail, I ordered it through Fragrancenet.com at a reasonable price 28euros/50ml. Thanks to the raving reviews here, I made this blind buy as this fragrance is totally unknown in the stores over here in Greece. Lovely cedar notes conquered my wrist upon just a single spray. Oh my, that's one strong fragrance, destined to invade the cold winter nights of the ladies who would happen to pass near me! It's quite linear in structure and development but it never gets boring, thanks to a very balanced and modest use of the woody and aromatic notes, it's not very spicy either. What I love about this fragrance is that it does not resort to some overwhelmingly sweet aromatic or robust woody result, in fact the aromatic - floral - spicy notes support and complement the basic cedar character. A fascinating and irresistible result that you should remember that no matter how much you like it, you'd better avoid using it during summertime, it's just too strong for hot climates! A new hit for wintertime:-) My overall rating: 8/10

As one might expect for such a wonderful, exquisite fragrance, this has been discontinued...obviously it just doesn't appeal to the lowest common denominator who needs to have their nose filled with citrus, marine and cucumber to be happy. Well let me tell you, they are really missing out BIG TIME! This is without doubt one of the loveliest, authentically woody fragrances around....a delightful rich sweet wood conjuring up images of sweet pine shavings on a sawmill floor or wood pencil shavings in a classroom. It has some similarities to Arran Aromatics "Driftwood" but in the case of the latter the woodiness is dry mineralic oakmoss whereas in Tumulte it is a superb blend of cedar, sandalwood and labdanum....with just a HINT of floral sweetness to soften and mellow it. Do yourselves a favour: scour ebay, amazon, gumtree or ANYWHERE for remaining bottles of this and stock up now or you will be missing possibly Lacroix's finest ever fragrance!

What is better than a story that ends happily I remember a very close relative of mine had this and I used to spritz some on me every now and then Later on the bottle disappeared and I was hesitant to ask him about it so I forgot about it for a really long time Saw it for a good price in one of the vintage resellers so I had to get it It’s truly mesmerizing the incense in this one is very hard to match with a very good performance and a bottle that is fit to be displayed in a museum I can’t stress enough how wonderful it is I’m not sure if others can relate but this one is probably the last bottle of my history that I had to get after all those years of hunting Vintage wise in my own history I got everything I wished for all those past years

The finest cedar. There is something herbal, smoky, and gentle that is so beautifully done here. But where Tumulte really differs from other cedars I've come across; is the plum. Its simply delicious without ever getting sweet. Incense intertwines beautifully with bay leaf, giving the composition a soft, delicate smoky nuanced touch. It sits close to the skin, and doesn't project much but that is absolutely fine by me as I prefer longevity over projection any day. Its discontinued now and prices are by far ridiculous, I wouldn't recommend blind buying this as performance could be a deal breaker for some. Also: Forget about the "This fragrance reminds me of" section. Kyoto starts off similar but then goes in another direction.

The second perfume I was truly committed to, after deciding that the cedar in GpH was My Thing; at risk of gloating, I picked up a load of the unutterably hideous bottles practically free when I heard it was on the way out, and am stocked-up for life. Dry enough to mummify Cardi B.; smells of cedar, synthetic cedar, and another kind of cedar, with a few other things thrown in. Layers well with rose perfumes. But no-one cares now, because this is long-dead and never to return; at least none of you will ever have to gaze upon the fetish-industrial bottle cap. Be thankful for small mercies.

smells really good.got to agree with "guillermostf" as this is a great woody smell.lots and lots of cedar.stays close to the skin and in no way is this unisex.i just cant imagine any woman pulling this off unless she's thinking of a sex change.projection and sillage are above average for me.not worn it to work as yet so cant really tell if i will smell it after a grubby working day.but so far it's good enough for me.the bottle design is a masterpiece.very unusually eye-catchy.this fragrance is a must have for the discerning man.

This used to be my signature scent until it was deleted and my supply ran out... Incense and cedar bomb, intoxicating and mystical. It made me feel like being in a Tibetan temple. I've tried to source similar, the nearest so far is Azzaro Visit, but it's much weaker, and also now deleted. I'd love to know if anyone produces a dupe. Or at least an alternative that isn't stupidly priced. Yes, there's a few bottles of the original on eBay, but I've learned from experience that the old bottles have lost most of their scent by now...

a wonderful scent... quite linear but for me one of the best woody soft/incense fragrances, it's not sharp, not very smoky, but very warm , a little bit honey-like (but not too sweet at all), not overwhelming- beautifuly enveloping!!!! but the name and marketing behind it was a misunderstanding (... when i smell it i think of a blooming late-spring forest full of resins, leaves, needles... calming and embracing. A great one!!!

I was delighted to pick up a bottle of this recently (albeit at considerable cost), having finished my previous bottle some years ago. Soft, pleasant and seems ideally suited to woodland walks, definitely an outdoor fragrance. I will enjoy wearing this again; all the more so as it's probable I won't be able to acquire it again in the future.

Why this scent manufacture has been stopped ????? Maybe the most wearable fragrance ! Confortable and even RELAXING fragrance !? Really ! An incense/woody scent, fresh, spicy and warm at the same time! Complexe! Why did they stop to sell it ??? I will never understand...

Great juniper berries fragrance. If you like woods, spices, till the point of being incense-y and being "different" - must have It doesnt pretend to be highly likeable or party-boy but its highly liked by me personally. I dont like party animals))

Today I bought 2 50 mil bottle which I found last weak.It's totally cedar base scent.various kind of of cedar wood exist in this scent with hint of juniper and strong breeze of frankincense.really marvelous fragrance .absolutely masterpiece. 10/10

It reminds me Azzaro Visit. Great Projection . Yes this fragrance rocks. But its stays short on skin & it works best in cloths. Its better to spray on cloths to get good longevity more than 10hrs plus. Projection:9/10, Longevity:10/10

So far, the greatest woody fragrance in the market. Cedar rules.

Tumulte, discontinued, is defined with great simplicity: a woody, dry, talc cedarwood with an important note bay, a combination that results in a very pleasant aroma. The fragrance feels linear and semi combo is accompanied by a note of juniper berries mattifies fragrance and a very well-balanced note of sandalwood that amplifies to a somewhat richer hues drying. Although not very complex and not very spectacular, it is easy to love and carry, especially recommend it for cold and rainy days. Rating: 5

A soft woody scent. Mainly cedar with a pinch of sandalwood and resins. The prices are insane as of now so those who have had it for some time are lucky. The sillage remains at arm's length throughout the duration of the scent. I do like it but wish it had more kick. Best for cooler temps.

I adore this magical cedar. Yup..it is very linear scent. You can only detect cedar. Cedar to the max. But not the hamster cage cedar or the pencil shaving cedar though. However, I only wear it as my night scent. Very sexy and woody. Long lasting too.

Last week, I went to the post office to pick up a package containing a bottle of Tumulte Pour Homme I had purchased a few days before for a bargain. It was an awful, grey, rainy day. And as I arrived home and was looking at the rain falling, I sprayed some of the fragrance on my wrist. I immediately felt as if I were sheltering from the rain in a (rather nice) wooden shack, reminding me of some childhood memories. This of course seems to imply that TPH is mainly cedar but thankfully that is only a half truth. The top notes of juniper berries and bay leaf are there, but you have to be very quick indeed to notice them. I missed them completely upon first trial, but now I do enjoy them for the average ten seconds they last on my skin. After that the cedar takes over mercilessly. Of course, with cedar, there is always a risk of smelling like pencil shavings, and I guess that happens with TPH, but only for a few minutes. The perfume then warms up on your skin and the rather dry cedar notes become a little bit more mellow, which is a good thing. And there is more warming up in store, because then the incense kicks in. To me that's the best moment in what is otherwise a fairly linear fragrance. After a while the incense plays equal with the cedar, then starts to dominate and you end up with a lovely, very warm, intoxicating drydown. I read somewhere that TPH could be considered as a general template for cedar and incense scents, and I think that is spot on. It's a good, very pleasant fragrance in its own right, and I do enjoy wearing it but perhaps it could be less linear — there are no surprises along the way. It would be great for example if the top notes remained for a bit longer because they do smell great while they last. I could also see a few other things that could be added to the template, such as a hint of kaffir lime leaves or perhaps a touch a pimento in the top to middle transition? I imagine that most of us would tweak it differently... The sillage is very good, and so is the longevity: 6 hours+ on me, which is very rare. On a side note, the bottle is absolutely gorgeous.

It was a solid "modern" woody scent when it was released, and soon found its way to the discount bins, where I bought a bottle (then swapped it off). It is a bit softer than some other strong woody scents, but otherwise you get your big dose of iso e super and perhaps some other woody synthetics. I get no more than a hint of other notes, and it just dissipates over time, without significant development. I much prefer the interesting English Leather Black for a "masculine" scent with strong woody notes, but I'd also just buy a couple of wood essential oils and vodka and make my own wood scent before buying Tumulte, even at the original retail list prices. Also, there are so many scents like this now, just do some research and find a good super cheapo, perhaps Lomani (AB Spirit Platinum), or even one of those Cuba cigar bottle scents.

Up in the attic there is an old man at work on something. I think it is a model ship. There are wood shavings on the floor. A jar of resin or lacquer is open at the table with a brush stuck in it. There's tea there too, and a piece of half-eaten jellied toast waiting for some attention. I enjoy smelling it, but I won't wear it much... to me it gives off an odd vibe, alternately austere and crusty... more old mansion than warm cottage...a little 'Gray Gardens'. It has some similarities to Kyoto, Hinoki, and Wonderwood but slightly sweeter and more floral...the labdanum and plum do come through.

I just bought a bottle of this off the Net, and was pleasantly surprised. As all reviews indicate , there is a strong smell of incense. However, there is an underlying woody note that I personally cannot identify. I assume it is the cedar that all everyone mentions. The longevity is quite decent, with nearly 6 hours on my skin and another 2 hours on fabric. I cannot speak for the sillage or projection though. All in all, a very nice buy for the asking cost. The USP now is that it is no more in production, and therefore you would be wearing a perfume highly exclusive.

I actually bought this scent to celebrate finishing my home with Designers Guild fabric from Christian Lacroix. One of my favorite pillows is Tumulte Arlequin. So I had to buy this scent. I would not wear a Christian Lacroix dress, but on a runway. However, his design sensibility is wonderful for home design. The playfullness and color brightens up any room. I was surprised to find that I love this scent. The cedar is one of the stronger notes. It is very nice. It is as good as my favorite cologne Chanel Antaeus.

An update on this perfume. I wore this for the first time in summer today. Had the occasion to walk a bit, causing me to get a little sweaty. After I reached my destination, I strongly smelt from myself what I assume is musk. Even now, nearly 14 hours after application, I can still smell that musky aroma. In fact, the smell is musky enough to remind of, well, a more pleasant version of a particular body odour. Does anyone else get this?

No need to mention the note(s) here after all the reviews. But I was blown away by the similarity to Gucci Rush, especially in the dry down which is almost identical to my nose, although Gucci Rush is a little creamier probably due to the fact that the sandalwood note is more pronounced. Tumulte is another discontinued gem and a fantastic woody scent, if you see it grab it.

I got the chance to put my hand on 5 ml of this one on eBay. It's really an amazing dry cedar scent. What's true you'll never find it easily, but hold on, try Roberto Cavalli Uomo (launched on 2016), you'll have the same cedar vibe, almost identical, but à bit sweeter at the dry down. No need to break your head searching for this one any more. Enjoy, and thank me later

This is a very good cedar frag, I don't need to add to what's already been written about it. BUT Prices are very high now it's been discontinued. And may I suggest that you cast your eye to L'Erbolario Periplo, which is very similar and much more competitively priced. So cheap in fact that I would suggest you wouldn't find it a disappointing blind buy....

I'm so glad I purchased this - always on the hunt for woody fragrances. And FINALLY, I get to genuinely respond to enquiries about what I'm wearing with a sassy "Its a Lacroix. Sweetie. Darling... Lulu!" On the drydown, probably because of the cedar, it has a very faint, weak resemblance to CDG Wonderwood, although both frags are worlds apart.

What a gorgeous gem of a scent! Too bad it’s discontinued. This brings back so many good memories. It’s manly and imposing with a whimsical character. Even the bottle is beautiful. Definitely not a younger (<25) fragrance and definitely not a newbie (acqua di gio/invictus/sauvage ) kind of scent. So sad it no longer exists!

Beautiful woodsy scent that I bought for my husband, but I wear it too. The juniper opening is startling and the cedar in the base is among the most lovely there is. This is a real sleeper scent and I was thrilled to find it. I enjoy the women's version in the summer, but love the masculine Tumulte in the fall and winter.

Yes, somewhere between Gucci Rush for Men and Kyoto. Cedarwood galore with soft balmy-incensey undertones and a funny twist provided by a gin-like quality during the opening. Unpretentious, modern and inoffensive yet not dull. Very reasonably priced (if not cheap) and absolutely delightful. A little gem. Rating: 7/10

I adore this fragrance on my fiancee, he is so sexy when he wears this intoxicating, mesmerising, woody, intimate, musky scent!! I can't get enough of my man in this scent! If you want to sex your boyfriend/ husband/ fiancee up in an understated way, get him some of this!

i must write it one more time,,, most similar, if not practically the same smell to gucci rush is with no doubt Pal Zileri sartoriale!!! i also try tumulte pour homme,, yes it is a little similar to rush, but not as sartoriale.....

"Tumulte" doesn't change a lot on my skin during its long drydown. All I get is an evolution of cedar notes. It's an ode to cedar. It's also very... VERY... similar to "Gucci Rush" (men), but both are now discontinued. :(

I was looking for an even cheaper alternative to Incense Kyoto, but looking at the price of this on eBay...forget about it -_- *Was Gucci Rush really that great? If so maybe this is worth checking out after all..

This is a very good masculine scent. Cedar in combination with juniper berries and plum and other ingredients create a smell which is 1:1 identic with the smell of matchsticks.

wow, this is so unique and long lasting perfume! And thank God, not so popular as other! Warm, sexy and deep. The bottle also is a small masterpiece
