Fétiche L’Encens

Nordstroms just launched these in my area. I smelled all five of them but they didn't have Fetiche in the names or on the package of a sample I was given, so I don't know about that. The only two that made an impression was this one and L'Iris. Now that I read who the perfumer is of this one, I can see why it's good to my nose. It is very peppery and frankincense forward which I found very beautiful. It was a hair too masculine for what I like to wear and sadly my hubby is not a fragrance wearer unless it's hunters scent remover or fish bait oil. The cards they have to spray the perfume on to test are beautiful too. Even if I thought I would like to have this, the price point is way too much for me. I'd love to smell this on a man, lol, that's not gonna happen.

This for me was love at first sniff! This smells like nothing in my collection.

From the Fetiche discovery set: Okay so the opening smells pretty generic/cologne like but its starts to fade and I can sense the frankincense come in. It's also pretty peppery and fresh/green/earthy but also a little sweet. Maybe a little smoky but not overpowering at all. Its odd - theres something in here that is gourmand like and it brings a very specific smell to memory, but its not traditionally gourmand in it smells like food. For some reason it smells like my family's kitchen in my old house in Iran. I have no idea what it is, but something about it reminds me exactly of of that. Maybe it's a certain spice or something, who knows. Also - I'm not sure why but there's something in this that reminds me of Baccarat Rouge Extrait, albeit it doesn't smell like BR. There is a similarity to it though, and just like BR, I cant really smell it lol. It's either weak (but I don't think this is the case cause I can see the oil on my skin), or I just go nose blind to it within seconds. It's frustrating cause I want to smell the damn perfume on my skin lol. This ones pretty confusing to be honest. I still get the generic cologne scent but its still pretty unique at the same time. It's like a freshy but it's also not. Tbh I have no idea when or where i'd wear this. Leans pretty masculine imo and if you like a ~cologny~ fragrance I think this would be for you. Feels like a more refined version of that. I do like it though!

Peppery incense. Clean white smoke carrying fruity undertones, anchored to a woody base and gently sprinkled with an earthy blend of fresh spices. Very soft projection that forms an intimate scent bubble from initial spray, longevity 6-8hr. This does center its namesake, unlike some of its siblings in Louboutin's Fetiche line, but it's so polite it makes itself invisible right from the start.

I tried this scent at Nordstrom and was so confused by my reaction. I wasn't expecting to like it but I did. I've traditionally gravitated towards lighter, citric scents, but I'm gravitating more towards spicy/leathery these days. Fétiche L’Encens is smoky and spicy -- For all the Catholics out there, it smells EXACTLY like that incense that the priest burns at certain masses. Definitely more of a fall/winter/night scent.
