Patchouli Noir

This is simply beautiful. It is as if Christian Provenzano has distilled the essence of elegance and refinement and put it in a bottle. It's not challenging or difficult. It doesn't shout from 6 feet away. It's a scent for a confident person who doesn't have to shower in a fragrance in order to announce their presence to the world. The initial opening berry tinged with pepper blast fades away a bit and a beautiful floral note emerges. After an hour or so the berry is a more distant note and the woody/patchouli base starts coming through the flowers. It's beautifully blended and is a very calming and uplifting scent guaranteed to lift the darkest mood. There's nothing harsh or bitter about this scent - so you're not going to smell like some refugee from Woodstock, despite the bad rep 'patchouli' has from those bygone days. It feels luxurious and rich, so it kind of gives a 'warm' effect - the peppery hint I think does this. This is simply wonderful stuff. I have no idea whether it's 'original' or not. But I don't care - it's just a lovely, soft, enveloping and peaceful scent. Projection/Sillage is low to moderate - you're not going to get folk reaching for their oxygen masks from across the room. Longevity is very good - it lasts in the range of 8-12 hours on me before fading into the barely detectable. Although I generally dislike labelling a fragrance as masculine or feminine I would say this is a unisex fragrance leaning towards what would traditionally be classed as 'feminine'. Whatever label we want to attach - it's just a fabulous fragrance.

Beautiful sophisticated fragrance. No dirty patchouli here. It's actually creamy and smooth but not lactonic if that makes sense. I love it but wish it had better projection. Lasted on my clothes for days but then again, I'm an oversprayer. I'm in my early 30s and absolutely love it for special occasions but I feel it will suit someone a bit older (think like late 30s upwards)

Sophisticated, refined,noble...what else to add. It's a perfect scent for the evening out at one of the PAll Mall private clubs.

Aptly named and wonderful! Dark, melancholic, addictive. Patchouli done right. Mr Provenzano is definitely a brilliant perfumer.

Quite simply, a masterpiece. This is no rough or raw patchouli, in fact I wouldn’t have even picked that out as one of the key notes. This is spicy and smooth and is one of the best scents I’ve ever laid my nose on,

This is an excellent patchouli. It is a creamy soft patchouli that is well liked by almost everyone. However, performance was below average on my skin.

If this is veery feminine, I’ve completely lost my sense of smell.
