Ooh La Rouge

I got this as a freebie; I probably never would have picked it out myself. By all means, this should be a fragrance I hate, but I actually really love it! What a nice surprise! Edit after taking some time to think: I say this with all this with love. This smells like a cheap perfume trying to be an expensive perfume, but not really in a bad way. It smells like going to the mall at 16. You're trying on clothes you can't afford with your friends and daring each other to go into Spencer's. When you're done, you both get a smoothie at the foodcourt and laugh together. This smell is light, feminine, and not taking itself too seriously. It has an initial sharp alcohol smell and a cloying sweetness that I personally associate with cheaper perfumes...That note that makes people go "wow, it smells like perfume in here." After a few minutes, it dries down into a subtler floral sweetness. The amber is heavy, the musk is light, fluffy, and white. This is an easy grab when going to run errands, and I think this would fit a woman of any age. That being said, I think this smells too much "like perfume" to be worn in an office setting without getting complaints from coworkers, even though this is not a challenging fragrance.

This is the greatest perfume I have ever smelled and threw everything I thought I knew about scents right in the trash. A little background, I absolutely HATE musk in perfumes. It's the only thing I can smell and to me it always smells like B.O so I tend to avoid perfumes that have them. I tried this while I was out shopping because I thought the bottle was really pretty so hadn't looked up anything about it, so I was surprised that I loved a perfume with musk in it as much as I do. I can't tell it's there, or it's just so subtle and isn't so overpowering like with other scents. When I first sprayed it, there was a very light sweet smell. After a couple of hours of wear, it became this fruity floral with a warmness to it. To me and on my skin, it was kind of like a baked berry pie (maybe cherry?), brown sugar, and some flowers thrown in for fun. The best way I can think to describe it is a warm floral. I do wish it had greater sillage so I didn't have to lift my wrist to my nose to breath it all in. The wear length is good. For me it lasted about 7 hours. This is the one that's going to be my signature scent and I dont' care if others hate it because I'm so in love with this perfume.

This is a beautiful scent, it is definitely similar to BR 540, and a more affordable dupe, I tested both together and was hard pressed to tell the difference, this one is slightly heavier in its overall scent, it is very sweet with a dark amber undertone so It can definitely be unisex. Compared to cloud by Ariana, I would say this a more mature version, less the coconut scent, but this one is still very sweet with its praline note. Also the bottle is beautiful, I could not bring myself to display the cloud bottle as it’s so childish but this one is gorgeous! I get the praline and saffron right away and the amber is present throughout. The florals are well mixed so they don’t fully stand out on their own. A delicious burnt sugar fragrance! It lasts a good 5 hours on my skin and moderately projects, it is not loud but subtle sillage is present throughout. Happy to have this one in my collection!

I definitely get the praline. Its a lovely sweet, creamy candy fragrance. I'd put it in the same family as Philosophy Falling In Love, which I also love. I really, really like this for spending a quiet evening with my fiancé. He tends to like sweet fragrances on me, and this one was a winner. I find it to be a much more pleasant answer to Burberry Her Elixir that a lot of people love and I personally find to be far too sweet, and almost like being punched in the face by deflated cotton-candy. All this being said, my ever present disclaimer: fragrances react differently on everyone depending on their personal, skin chemistry. Personally, I like this one a lot.

I love this fragrance. I know people lump it in with 540 dupes but personally I don't like BR540 on me, so that's not what Ooh La Rouge is for me. I love this scent, it's soft, sweet, but still elegant. The sweetness is soft but the lasting power is not. I spray this before I go to bed and still smell it in the morning as a skin scent. I mostly get the praline and amber wood notes with a very light white floral. Since it's not terribly overpowering I find it to be very versatile, signature scent worthy. I'll wear this on a nice date night or to work or really anywhere.

Agreed with @sejohnson77! This fragrance simply does not last. At all! So disappointing because it truly is a beautiful fragrance. Wore a sample of it in Seattle at a fancy restaurant and two separate diners I walked by came over to ask me what I was wearing. That’s what made me buy it. I remember spraying this right before I went inside the restaurant not realizing it would dissipate almost immediately after spraying once I purchased a full bottle.

I have been on the hunt for a dupe for BR540 because I just cannot and will not pay that much for a perfume. Not right now anyway, that opinion may change....but this one smells pretty much just like it. Its a very sweet scent, amber is the top note then it gets really sweet with just the right amount of spice. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to the popular frag or just like these notes, I would recommend picking it up!

Lovvvve. I came here to see if I could figure out why this smells so nostalgic. I saw someone mention in the reviews that it's Abercrombie? It's reminding me of my teen years in about 07/08. That makes perfect sense. I bought a full bottle and my mom loved it so much I gave it to her. As a baccarat hater I love this. Very pretty offering from Siriano..definitely get the baccarat vibes but they still are 2 very different scents. OLR is sweeter and I can definitely also detect the jasmine right at first. The dry down is the heaven for me sweet soft and powdery, this scent I feel stays close to the skin but it’s a performance beast even lasting through a shower..in all a nice scent to look into if you’re a fan to BR540.

Love! Don’t listen to the bad reviews on here, very ambery and amazing smell! Doesn’t smell musky at all. Smells great!

This brings back such a strong scent memory, but I'm not 100% sure I'm pinpointing it. Abercrombie store comes to mind. It's salty and really not that sweet. It could be unisex or even a men's cologne. Similar to Cloud but less sugary. Edit: Holy moly, this is long lasting! It's interesting, close up it smells salty and Abercrombie-ish, as I said above, but the sillage cloud smells like toasted but not burnt sugar. I wore it all day and I sort of grew nose blind to it until I worked out at night and that sugar note filled the air. It wasn't cloying at all, not even for a work out. I was super surprised that I smelled it so strongly 8 hours after I sprayed it. This is seriously growing on me. I really don't love how it smells close up, but the gentle and persistent sillage cloud is super nice.

This really does smell like BR540 but slightly more floral. It has the same sweetness but less woody. The best way to describe this is if someone was cheating on their homework but tried to change it up slightly haha. This was the first time i've seen this Siriano red bottle at the mall, so I was curious how it smelled. Upon the first spray, I knew it was a dupe. I was actually wearing a tester of BR540 when I smelled this perfume while out shopping! In my opinion, if you like BR540 and want a cheaper option this would be it. Again, they are not the same perfume, but you can tell someone who made the perfume knew the "assignment".

This perfume smells like fresh flowers in the most beautiful way—like truly identical; however, the scent is pretty soft (small silage) and does not last a long time. I’d say the scent lasted barely more than an hour or so and I couldn’t even smell it by putting my wrists to my nose. After layering and spraying far more than usual, I was truly shocked at how quickly the scent dissipated. Although I love the scent, I just can’t justify purchasing a full bottle of something with such little durability (thankfully only bought a travel size). I will still be wearing my travel spray though and just respraying more frequently (:

When I tried this, I could definitely tell it had BR540 DNA. I don't care for BR so I was surprised that I actually like this one. It smellls like Christmas to me, pine trees, cedar, and a cinnamon latte. I have a small sample bottle and I'm thinking about getting a bigger bottle. This is definitely a fall/winter scent and quite lovely. It smells sweeter and softer than BR which is probably why I like it. I felt BR was very sharp and off putting. This one is quite warm, I'm going to add it to my collection and enjoy when I want something different than my usual vanilla or coconut scents.

I'm amazed by the amount of people in the comments who are repulsed by this perfume. I smell a complex spicy vanilla that I love! This is my favorite vanilla perfume, though I may just be crazy since other people are picking up everything except vanilla. The mixture of grapefruit adds a lightness and tart tone while praline gives just enough sweetness to remind you of grandmas baking. I feel very sexy and mysterious when I wear this perfume.

For a mass marker perfume, it's pretty good, it stands out in the sea of flowery-fruity-soapy concoctions. I smell something like caramel chocolate and lots of amber. It's quite nice. I do not get any of the nastiness other reviewers describe - no rubber, no burnt tires (although I do detect some smokiness), no gasoline, no plastic. I probably wouldn't buy the full bottle, but I will certainly enjoy my 5 mL sample.

honestly i like this one. the top notes dry down pretty quickly and i feel like what lingers is there for a long time but isnt crazy overpowering. its a pleasant jasmine musk. Plus, out of the sample pack i got for christmas, this one is the bf's favorite, he loves this one. i'm not getting any of the chemicals/gas that other people seem to, so maybe its a skin chemistry thing?

I would put this in the same category as Ariana Grande Cloud (I guess Baccarat Rouge by extension, but I haven't smelled that one so I can't compare). A nutty-yet-airy, sweet amber. Somehow it's fluffy and heavy at the same time. Perfect for evening wear. Very pretty, but not my favorite from Siriano. I personally think Silhouette edges this out.

There are similarities to Baccarat, and I think it’s mainly that saffron and sweetness. Light yet projecting. The dry down is a lot different than Baccarat as Ooh La Rouge stays linear throughout and lasts about 3-4 hours (Baccarat can last up to 12 on my skin!). Needless to say, it’s a decent fragrance for the price.

Ooh La Rouge is sweet with body and longevity. Its blend of sugary scents, florals, and amber means this grownup can feel confident wearing it as an age-appropriate indulgence in a candy scent.

Its a lovely scent but its not for me. Its really sweet with a touch of spice in it. Its engulfing.

Sigh.....this is another of many in its line - cherry and sweet amber, and it's way to expensive for its own good. A skin scent at best, and the familiar notes are lost in a sea of ethyl alcohol. Just so we're clear, I've tried two different bottles from two different stores and achieved the same blase chords. I see the listing of this as possessing both strong sillage and serious longevity, but I just don't get that. I have wet both skin and fiber with this concoction, and still barely a body spray. My family agrees - nothing. Ultimately, everyone has different tastes, and you can choose to enjoy, or spend on whatever you like. However, either there are batches of this stuff floating around with very little olfactory action, owning to the hand sanitizer market; or this really is a dud, and you would do much better by purchasing Dark Cherry and Amber. Which produces the same recognizable notes, only turned up so everyone can hear. If you are curious as to the wonders of Dark Cherry and Amber, please see my review. I will say how amazing it is, that there can be such variety in ingredients, but still achieving the same odor profile. And I suppose I'll end here. There's not much left to write that would offer any benefit of reading further. If the above mentioned fragrance is too strong, or your budget won't allow BR540 (and if it does, let me know - I'm sure we'll friends), or you simply don't believe me, than this purchase is right for you.

You know how when you walk past an Abercrombie and Fitch in the mall, your nose just gets blasted with this musky, spicy, almost overpowering perfume scent? Yeah, this smells almost exactly like that. A little bit of it is pretty ok, but if over sprayed this is 100% headache inducing. Its VERY strong, but it seems you need to be up-close and personal to really get a whiff of this on someone.

Definitely has the same Silhouette DNA as the rest. This one is EXTREMELY light. I sprayed the sample strip 4x and I can only very lightly smell it and only when I put it up to my nose. Unsure if I’m anosmic to it or if it’s actually a bad perfume. What I can smell is pretty though. But I would never buy it because I prefer very loud frags.

for whatever reason, when i first received this as a sample, i did not like it one bit, but i gave it another shot and it's actually a little nice, it's a deep and almost peppery scent that sits close to the skin. not one of my favorites and def would not blind buy but it's not awful at least. 5.5/10

Subtle floral notes, a polite sweetness, and woods that sting the nose. After a few hours, the sting goes away and it’s quite a nice fragrance.

Soft and sweet. I liked it more than I expected to. I haven't tried BR540, but based on the reviews I think I'd give it a try now.

OMG... My wife sprayed this on from a sample and laid on the couch. I came home from work and smelled whatever I smelled and immediately called 911 and ran to the stove to shut off the gas !!! After I darted for the stove I sprinted to the garage to see if the pilot went out on the heater. I was relieved to find my wife still alive and explained to the 911 operator that the smell I smelled must have been my wife’s perfume... we all laughed and gave the operator the name of the perfume so she could add that to the scrip of protocols when asking emergency callers questions when calling about gas leaks !!! This was the most scariest event that has happened to me in awhile and I would really consider pulling this from all shelves before someone like me starts a class action lawsuit... anyone that’s on board with this send me an email ( [email protected] ). I love my wife and live my life to serve and protect the mother of my children... she is my life and I’m her love slave !!... But this perfume has really damaged our relationship, I now associate this disgusting smell with her causing us to see a couples therapist 3 times a week to help with what has transpired. Anyways enough with the personal issues... maybe the batch we got had some old fetus cells in it. I had to burn her clothes and we placed the couch on the curb with a free sign on it ! I’m scared for life !!!!!!

I tried a sample of this today. Let me start by saying I used the entire 2ml sample this morning, spraying it on my sweater and wrists. Literally all I smelled off the bat was alcohol. Once it dried down I could only smell it if I shoved my wrist or sweater to my nose. Now that a few hours have passed, it's totally gone. So I'm not sure if the full bottle is stronger or not, but based on this sample its a pass for me. The little bit that I smelled did seem like it had potential (if it were stronger). A floral sweet sent with some amber and musk!

At first spray this smells similar to BR 540, but not as good (obviously). It does a disappearing act on my skin after about 5 minutes. Save your money and buy the real thing if you like BR 540.

This smells like airplane cabin to me, not a new one either.

I got a sample of this in a JC Penney sample pack. I have been collecting perfumes for 10 years+ and am a huge fan of fragrances. I like some more than others but honestly have never smelled something that I actually didn’t like or had like an eww reaction or just complete difficulty even tolerating. I think there might be something wrong with whomever filled these samples - like there is something wrong on the factory end or something - which is what prompted me to write this review - to let someone know. It smells like turpentine/alcohol or some other toxic chemical - I was trying to think if it was maybe a really bitter bitter sour grapefruit, but even that wouldn’t explain it. Whatever it is could have gone bad or else someone corrupt just decided to fill the samples with some raw chemical to save money or something in the factory got messed up. I now have to get this off somehow and find something else to mask it or help me feel better. If anyone has any suggestions on what I might try..

Just when I thought nothing could stink more than ET's Diamonds and Sapphires, I encountered this pukey perfume, a vomit puddle of burnt peanuts, brine and motor oil. Am I really smelling the same fragrance as those who detect "fresh flowers" further down in the reviews? Maybe I got a vial (vile!) of decades old machine grease packed in denatured alcohol?? Super yuck! Ooh the Retch! Appropriate for no occasion, no time of day, and no season of the year. Any longevity and sillage is too much. If you come across this somewhere, please resist the temptation to spray it. Walk away. I know the bottle is pretty and evokes an image of an elegant chiffon evening gown, but that doesn't redeem this abomination. It is a mild comfort that I only got a sample and didn't drop some serious bucks for this stuff. Sorry for the harsh words, but I just had to vent about this one.

I have samples of this and BR540, The Latter is nice, But this one? Horrible! It’s like turpentine/motor oil like other reviews mention, Or some kind of chemical concoction at least. There’s no florals or sweetness. It’s also nuclear strong, Just from a small spray on paper, I threw it away and still smell it in the room. Wouldn’t dare put this on my skin! Please leave this review up, Negative reviews are helpful too.

I'm unsure if it's the leather or what, but I get a strong, spicy armpit smell from this one. I'm not trying to be rude, that's literally what I smell. Normally I only get that odor from a Pepper note, but I definitely smell it here and strongly dislike it. It's overwhelming, and I can barely smell the sweet notes.

For some reason even though it's not listed in the notes above this smelled like I spilled a coffee on myself. It smells like straight up Starbucks coffee. I'm not a coffee drinker so of course I don't like this. Huge doses of amberwoods smell like burned coffee to me. This is God awful!

This is a HARD NO! Not for me. Smells horrible. Mixture of burnt grapefruit and old musty car engines. Synthetic and strong. It was an immediate response to wash it off but it does not do so easily. Do not buy blindly. Smell for yourself. Take care.

Smells like nothing, all I get is a skin scent from it at best. It's impossible for me to get a read on this one. Maybe some jasmine? Very disappointed!

Smells almost identical to Baccarat Rouge 540. It dries down softly with the flowers, and lasts for hours. I think because of the floral aspect, I prefer this over the BR540, which works perfectly well for my wallet:) The Amber and Musk blend really nicely and have great Sillage. I feel like a lot of fragrances with a Jasmine, Gardenia, Tuberose combo can become overpowering or cloying, but that doesn't happen with Ooh La Rouge. When the flowers take over, nothing really stands out over any other, but it creates a really nice feminine flare. It kind of becomes dark and flirty. I sprayed this on kind of late in the day, but I kept smelling it wafting up when I would move my hands or brush my hair out of my face, and could still smell it while I was getting ready for bed. When I would smell my wrists again to see if what I was smelling was me, I would close my eyes and smile and just breathe myself in. I definitely recommend this scent if you're looking for a more affordable version of Baccarat Rouge 540, or if you like sweet Amber, Musk scents.

Just a little review to share that OOH LA ROUGE, to my nose, smells similar to Baccarat Rouge 540 but with less almond and a strong plastic pool toy accord - like the plastic note in Ariana Grande CLOUD. So if you are looking for a scent like BR540 but without the almond note, and with a strong plastic note, you may wish to try Ooh La Rouge! I understand from the reviews below that many did not like the plastic rubber note - however I personally love the smell of plastic (and I dislike almond notes!), so for me I really enjoyed OOH LA ROUGE. To me, the plastic note did not smell like burnt rubber, rather it reminded me of the smell of a brand new plastic toy for a swimming pool, or the inside of a plastic pencil case. That said, everyone's sense of smell and skin chemistry is different, thus I appreciate that the plastic smell might be polarizing or off-putting to some. Personally though, I really enjoyed the scent! Of note, sillage and projection are quite soft, and the scent sits very close to the skin. Longevity is not long either.

I sampled this one yesterday and I didn't care for it. I can't really describe the dislike part of this perfume....this perfume is a more mature, sharp perfume scent to my nose. If I had to identify the notes I was getting, it may have been leather, sweet, musk, and powder. The lady behind the perfume counter described this one as having a strong amber note--which I don't think is how I interpreted the notes I was smelling on my wrist. I was thinking that one of Christian Siriano's perfumes had similarities to Hypnotic Poison, and I was thinking it may have been Ooh La Rouge--but no! Definitely not....Unfortunately i haven't experienced any of the "smells like" scents to compare this one too, but just not a like for me.

So, I am a BR540 hater because of the way nearly every fragrance with its dna pulls screechy on my skin and smells like tissue paper or a dentist’s office. This is possibly and maybe the only perfume of that style dna that I actually LIKE, not just enjoy. Every time j breathe it in, it smells yummy and airy and delicious. It doesn’t have that herbalness or oakmoss vibe that the other DNA’s have. It leans more into a vanilla version of that. It’s beautiful! I got it as a free sample, and if I finish this sample, I will probably purchase!

I got this as a gift from an ex a couple years ago. And I did enjoy this one. This fragrance will always remind me of a specific period and I have beautiful, bittersweet memories attached to it. But after finally getting my nose on BR540, this is absolutely a cheap smelling dupe. I hate to say it because BR540 is ridiculously expensive, and I don’t think I’m even BR540 girl, but the og is absolutely superior to all its dupes. Not unique, even target has a dupe.

This is a general trend on the market right now. This warm and "marshmellowy" sweet concoction. And I am NOT on board with it. I used to love ones that had this warm sexy fruity mix, that was a less sugary version of these. But apparently my tastes have shifted through the years, as I do not reach for them any more. Who knows, give it a few more years, maybe when the trend has passed I will suddenly like it. Crazier things have happened....

haven’t tried it on skin, but i sampled this on a tester in store with a friend and this smells *heavenly*. hard to describe what exactly— creamy, sweet, yet slightly spiced floral? very much a sexy date night fragrance to me. maybe my opinion would change once i smell it on skin but me and my (male) friend agreed while smelling the test paper that this would go HARD on a guy.

I like this but not for me. I get the HINT of bacarat but not a dupe at all. It’s more spicy. The saffron is very prominent for me. Which turned me off. I can’t do that note at all. Way too woody spicy and incense to me. So this was a no. Gorgeous bottle however. I just adore his entire line. But you really have to try every scent. They’re all so unique. Some win, some do not.

I love it - it goes on very lightly, and you don't expect it to last but hours later it's still there. It reminds me the most of my all time favorite, Chaos by Donna Karan. I have tried so many similar perfumes but in essence this is the closest.

Has the BR540 DNA, but closer to Vanilla Powder or in my opinion. Has a very sweet vanilla note that BR540 does not. Also no metallic note in this. It's a great alternative if you don't want to spend a lot, I got it on sale for about $55 usd.

All I smell is jasmine and more jasmine then a little sugar and saffron, but mostly jasmine. The kind of jasmine smelling ever so slightly of poo. I guess it’s in the same vein as BR540 and Cloud and the rest but JASMINE so much jasmine poo.
