Christina Aguilera by Night

🎈🎆HAPPY NEW YEAR, PERFUMITES!!!🎆🎈 I hope this year we will continue to create more special memories - perfume-related and otherwise. :) Now, to a tried-and-true scent: "By Night". This is the best from Christina Aguilera's range. I will not be contradicted on this! "By Night" retains the glorious, nostalgic, sexy, sweet, fruity, oriental-floral scent I remember from being a teenager! That red apple is sweet and juicy! I freakin' LOVE it. I notice the tangerine and rhubarb more than I used to. The subtle citrus has some nice sweetness; more so than your typical orange (as tangerines tends to be sweeter than oranges, I believe). While the rhubarb has this tartness that's very enticing, and adds a sexiness to the top notes. Freesia is definitely there, and I still smell it more than the other floral notes here. Freesia is a fresh, very sweet, heady white floral and can be overwhelming or enchanting - and enchanting it is here! A small amount of heliotrope and peach blossom, and very little LOTV to me. Vanilla is a BOSS note in this, and is gorgeous! Sweet and sexy throughout! The amber also adds an intoxicating depth and warmth. Sandalwood adds a nice creamy woodiness, and the oakmoss gives a very slight greenish mature quality, so it's not a girl's fragrance, but easily transcends into an adult's scent. There is a problem here, though: There's one aspect to this I don't love - and, in fact, *almost hate* - and that is (I think) the pineapple. It's far too pungent with a heavy synthetic aspect to it. Take it out and you'd have an almost-perfect scent! Longevity is pretty decent for a celebrity fragrance; nothing outstanding, but not disgustingly underwhelming. Sillage is great in the first spray, but does settle quickly. I don't think you can easily over-spray with this as it, so no need to panic about gassing your friends and family. Based on my hubby's comment, it might not be as appealing to our heterosexual male counterparts on first spray - But it was his initial comment, and one must report the truth as it happened! :P I don't get the comparisons to "Hypnotic Dior". That's not a back-handed comment to anyone. I find "HP" is much more almond-heavy, and has a very definite sarsaparilla/root beer scent that I don't really smell in this perfume. . That pineapple, the reduced sillage, and weird potential to be mistaken for a male cologne means I have to detract some points, but overall - I still adore this scent (and bottle - LOOK AT IT!). *** Kitty rating: 7/10. Hubby rating: "Smells a bit like a male cologne".

Where are people getting this 'cheap' smell from?! I think this has a very classy smell to it! I only really get two notes from this fragrance, and they are the Rhubarb and the Vanilla! With the Rhubarb, it's right there on the initial spray, and it stays for about an hour on me. Then from there, that's where the Vanilla kicks in! You can smell the Vanilla from the start, but after the Rhubarb dries down, the vanilla really comes into play! The longtivity of this fragrance on me is about 7-8 hours, so it's got good staying power! The vanilla is also very evident throughout this fragrance as well. The silage is okay on me. Sits pretty close to my skin. But somehow people can still smell it on me. The bottle is the same design as her other fragrances, and I didn't even find the other bottles anything to scream about, so for me, the bottle is just, meh. So all in all, it's a very nice fragrance, especially if you like Vanilla. The lasting power is good, but the silage is okay. Definitely worth the money!

This is a VERY WEARABLE perfume, one of the BEST of Christina's line and of my entire collection as well. I have already finished many bottle of this so, it should mean something... It is marketed as a "by night" fragrance, it's true, but I think you can wear it wherever and whenever you want. Is one of these sexy dark vanilla fragrances but with a hint oriental notes that makes it perfect for every occasions. Although this fragrance ISN'T heavy, it does have a STRONG resemblance with "Hypnotic Poison" by Christian Dior but, it is more light, fades away quicker and it does stay more close to the skin. I've been also using some other related products from the same line. The body lotion is ok; it's really moisturizing and you need just a little bit to cover a big area of your skin. But it does have only some of the perfume notes coming out. The shower gel, instead, is something that I would NOT recommend. Delusional, pure plastic smell. A part from that FIVE STARS! :-)

okay so i'm so sorry and it actually makes me very said to say this but i'm really dissappointed. this was my signature scent for a while and would probably still be but somehow i had two bottles of this going bad. i don't display my perfumes, i store them in dark boxes because i like them and want to keep them. somehow this one here still managed to ge bad twice. i had both about half a year and they suddenly started smelling really weird. it was just not the scent anymore that i remembered it to be while i could still smell it sniffing from the bottle. it is also not only me noticing that, other people could also smell something strange going on with the perfume. i have to say as much as i love the scent itself, i still won't ever repurchase this again, maybe that happens just because of the poor drugstore quality? i just don't know. however i would consider if you really like this one get the smallest size available and use it up as fast as you can.

Honestly I’ve never smelled anything like this perfume. It’s really unusual, and maybe that’s why it’s so excellent. It’s got a whole moodboard to it. Imagine a glamorous cabaret with showgirls dripped in diamonds and sequins, wearing lace, fishnets and corsets, preparing for their night performance on stage... that’s how I see the vibe here. It’s unbelievably glamorous, just perfect for date nights, like it was made for it. Sparkling black glitter and black lace. Lots of black lace, and red roses. The bottle and the name are so spot on with the atmosphere that the scent is radiating. It lasts long, projects from a bold statement where the most important notes are red apple and rhubarb, thru darker florals, to a sweet yet powerful vanilla mixed with amber. It’s definitely a night, winter/autumn fragrance. Wear it whenever you wanna feel like you’re a glamorous showgirl.

Of course everybody's noses and body chemistry work and is different. So I can only share what I (and possibly the people around me) get. This could easily be CD Hypnotic Poison Eau Legere, because to me it is definitely a member of that bunch. The opening is rather fruity but the very distinct Hypnotic note (almondish, musky vanilla) already there. The scent deepens from that point on and gets muskier with the Freesia and Heliotrope adding flowery sweetness. By Night fades out to a musky vanilla with a hint of oak moss. It lacks the caraway and of course the full body of the "real" thing but for some that might be a good thing! By Night is a very nice and well made fragrance. Vanilla lovers should def try it, and if you cannot commit to HP or are afraid that it might be too strong in certain places - also give this a try. Hopefully EA did not tweak this one too much!

Not a super long lasting fragrance and maybe a slight bit too expensive imo but very gorgeous. Past the opening it leaves a very dark vanilla and sandalwood scent on the skin, not too sweet at all to me. Only downside is that the opening smells soapy which is why i think its a bit too expensive. Its not that bad, but yeah some people told me it smelled like shampoo at first.. other than that its my signature scent so far as a goth who likes seductive scents but doesn't have much money ;) Edit : it also does not smell like Hypnotic Poison at all lol idk why people say this. Hypnotic Poison is all vanilla and warm notes whereas here, it opens w sparkly soapy fruit and the dry down is powdery vanilla-sandalwood, but not similar to the one in HP.

Some of the "smells likes" suggestions are ridiculous!! It so nothing like Black Opium for example, or the Blue Mediterranean one., or Sol De Cheriosa of whatever it's called...... Nope. .. not like any of those. It's is somewhat like H.P with a delicious red apple fruity top note, which I wish lasted longer. It's cheap enough to respray often though. A staple for Autumn for me. I'm glad it's still plentiful available and affordable!! Just got a new bottle in ready for autumn. Just don't buy it's as a 1- 1 H.P dupe. You will be disappointed!! If you like the sound of H.p + apple, go for it. .... For a HP dupe I'd get the La Rive one or "brand name fragrances" one which comes in a very H.P looking bottle.and the smell is spot on.

Most of my 20s was with this scent. Sadly (or luckily how you would like to see) it is an underrated celebrity scent. Opens with a heavy dose of fruit punch. Then settles down to a powdery vanilla/amber scent. It has some resemblance to HP, yet this one is younger version of HP. I partially agree with other comments; it does not have a good longevity, still it can reach to 6+ hours if one sprays to skin and clothes, plus a bit oversprays. Silage is also medium, end of day becomes skin scent. I have conformation from my colleague that she was able to smell me from arm length reach (after 2 hours). Scent: 8/10 Longevity: 6/10 Silage: 6/10 Price: 10/10

I bought the 50ml bottle on sale at Boots. I really love this perfume as the scent stood out from the usual fruit-floral-patchouli-sweet formula found in most celebrity scents. I spritzed the perfume from the tester bottle on my wrist and on the way home I could not resist smelling it, which is a very good sign. I bought By Night the next day. This perfume reminds me a lot of Hypnotic Poison which is one of my current favourites.I am very happy with By Night as Hypnotic Poison is a little expensive for me to purchase.I can say that this perfume is sensuality in a bottle. A truly affordable luxury!

I really love this! It is true it does smell like HP but like other reviewers have said it doesn't have the slight pepperiness that HP has. It's actually softer and simpler than Hypnotic Poison. I can really smell the vanilla and rhubarb and it creates this 'cream soda' like smell, sweet, fluffy but also smooth. So delicious! The bottle is beautiful too. I love Christina's day fragrance and now this one. Gorgeous scent and perfect for date night! It's cozy and warm and definitely won't sting anyone's nose hairs! I also own HP and I thought I'd never say this but I think I love By Night more :)

I ADORED this perfume when I was a teenager. This perfume made me ALL THAT! It had a gorgeous vanilla cloud that engulfed you, and a heady, intoxicating red apple that was juicy and sweet. I remember some quite sensual amber, and pretty fresh freesia. I ran out of this quite a while ago, and have been inconsolable about the lack of bottles in stores and online - but this week that has changed! eBay has come through for me once again! I will report back with an up-to-date and thorough review once I have this beauty in my hands again!

💲 Another perfume collected during my recent fragrance.net binge. This was $13.50 for the 1.7iz EDP 👃 Given its name I was wearily expecting this to be a deeper “dark” scent such as Black Opium or Guess Seductive Noir. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the depth in this fragrance comes from the woody touch & not from any spicy or dirty notes like patchouli. My reaction was a surprised, “Mmmm!” It is a rich but soft scent, the fruits all pulpy -meaning no detectable tartness nor tanginess, a creamy vanilla mix.

I really like this one, I've had it a few years. To me this is spicy in a way which is great. I can smell the oak moss, but it's not overpowering which I like, I don't really like oak moss that takes over a perfume. I like her perfumes, because they are different, and unique from the other celebrity scents, she has stepped it up. I haven't smelled all of her perfumes, because some of them I can't find. This is nighttime, and I love it. This is one of my favorite perfumes by her. Overall I give this a 8/10.

And for those saying it's for teenagers only.... Nope... I'm 48 and love this. .... Should I be wearing what they call "granny" fragrance instead I wonder !!? Lol. ... Well I like some of those too. But no-one can dictate to others what this or that age should wear. Some days I wear a serious "granny* classic Chypre. Some days I want to smell like cotton candy, or toffee apples ... Or in this perfume case, red delicious apples with a Heliotrope vanilla dry down. LOVE , perfect for Autumn!

There is just nothing like it. It smells really expensive and dreamy. It's sexy and sweet but not cloying or in a juvenile way. A very sophisticated sweet with perfect balance. This is a very well blended perfume. I could maybe describe it as a love child of hypnotic poison and poison girl but not as playdoh as hypnotic poison and not as powdery as poison girl. Just the perfect version of both. So sad that it only lasts for couple of hours. There is just nothing like it.

Im a Christina augilera fan, and i have all of her CDs. I was excited to try her perfume, but i didnt know if i would like it. I love By Night. It is the definition of feminine and pretty, i think its the best perfume i ever smelled. Its a fruity sweet vanilla. The only negative thing is that it is weak and i have to use almost half of my 1 ounce bottle to be able t enjoy the scent! I wish i could find a 3.5 ounce bottle. Anyway i give By Night a 10.10

This is my signature fragrance, I love it!! It opens up with almond and fruits. Later you can really tell the vanilla in it. When I put this on in the morning, it lasts all day until I go to bed. It is a little bit powdery, which I don't like usually but in this fragrance it doesn't bother me. It is such a oriental, sweet and unique smell. It is definitely a fall/winter fragrance but I also wear it in the summer because I love it so much!

My sis in law bought it for me from her trip to England. I love perfumes, but this one, its scent is outstanding. This is the first ever perfume I emptied. I love using it everyday that I was surprised when I sprayed it and nothing came out of it. I searched all over ebay but could not find even a single bottle of it for sale. It's been two years and until now I am still desperate to buy a bottle :(

Wowsers, this is quite unexpectedly lovely. Loads of sweet, creamy vanilla done in almost a milk-chocolatey, rich deliciousness... a little bit of powder, a touch of tangy pineapple and a fresh, juicy apple note on top of it all. Smells quite playful and young, but not super young - definitely womanly and a bit seductive. Not a million miles from 212 Sexy perhaps... Nice stuff.
