Charming

Oh , I LOVE this one ! Charming is a ladylike , very French floral, soft, classic, lovely, and gently spicy. Charming also contains geranium and cinnamon that are not listed here among the notes. The cedar note is very soft, not prominant. The black currant is noticeable throughout the drydown, lending Charming a rich, warm full bodied aspect. Sweetness of this perfume comes from the natural fragrance of the flowers, so its not too sweet, not at all candy sticky or fruity. Beautiful sandalwood embraces all the other notes and a touch of vanilla smooths the entire blend. I do not find Charming very powdery. It's more smooth, not what I think of as powdery. At first spray, Charming seems very strong, but settles WAY down to a soft skin scent within the first 5 to 10 minutes. Charming stays on skin, hair and clothing until you wash it out. Projection is moderate. It's more subtle as time passes, but you can still get wafts of it surrounding you for as long as you wear it. Charming is a delightful truly French floral, softly flirty, spicy, great for wear any time of day or night, in any season. And yes, I agree, the FLORALS in Charming are similar to those found in Cacharel Anais Anais, and in Bill Blass Nude, and in Givency Amarige. In Charming, it's as if they took the BEST FLORAL aspects of those other perfumes but eliminated their other more complicating notes. Charming lets the florals take center stage.........without adding strong meaty plum, woods, or other heavy notes. Instead, Charming has a gentle touch of cinnamon to give it a flirty soft spicy character. Actually, Charming would be a great fragrance to test first, to determine whether or not you like the basic floral blend structure of more expensive classic French florals. A wonderful bargain, expertly blended, that lasts, and doesn't smell cheap, Charming is a great find ! VERY FRENCH ! OOOH LA LA !

Oh! This one leaves me speechless! I have been thinking for days how i should describe it,and no decisive conclusion was reached. I got it from my ex as a birthday gift and i liked the smooth bottle that looked both steril and in the same time lively and organic to me. And then i opened it... I hadn't expected such a bliss! A soap? Yes,but from some new era, from perhaps 2200 when soaps will be nothing like these we usetoday. A fancy soap that is not overpowering and blends well with your skin, entering your pores instantly and becoming one with you, a soap in which both a lush,oppulent old sense of elegance in a tiny portion mixes with a tiny bit of modern,pragmatic elegance. That soap is clean,but it is not its first purpose. It is a futuristic soap that managed to be sexy! It is sexy in an innocent way. It smells like a selfless lady absorbed in her own thoughts and her own world,but selfless as i said,selfless and kind,with a capacity to feel ecstasy and yet go to bed with a prayer and clean conscience. I don't know why this fragrance has such a small number of reviews,every day i check to find some new ones and nothing materializes,perhaps it is hard to find. I can see many people for who this can be a good choice and to who this one may be appealing. In my case, this is the only perfume which i could wear more than two days in a row for which reason i ran out of it too quickly. I liked it in all seasons and although i don't like pronouncingany fragrance my signature, this one is the closest to that!

P.S. It does not remind me of anais anais,the sheer volume of anais anais prevents me from drawing a comparison, the similarity is far down in the structure,too far inside to make it exchangeable with anais anais. P.P.S. And yes,it stays on clothes and i love it! Better than any expensive perfume that i have tried! Whatever i say about it will not be enough.

I own this. I bought it because review were wonderful and the price is very affordable - inexpensive to experiment. At first spray my nose smells like a dry "champagne", which is what Champs Elysees was for me. I am trying to be creative here with my words :) But in total composition, to me, this is EXACTLY like Bill Blass Nude, which I also owned, way back then. And the bottle is very similar. I loved the Bill Blass and this is also beautiful. I smelled rose on the dry down but not nauseating. I agree with others that could be powdery but I am ok with that. For some reason it smells similar to what I remember Calandre and Madame Rochas to be, both of which I also used to own many years ago. I also owned Femme by Rochas but to my nose, they are not similar. Femme was deeper. Do not overspray, you don't need to. I think it's ok to wear during the day but I would prefer for night. I love smelling on me

Got this today. It does have a Slight plastic note, but the intentional kind that resembles sweetly scented dolls. Gentle and well blended, I do smell geranium and several other 'forbidden' loves here, like citronellol. As with many excellent French perfumes, I could never imagine what this smells like looking at the notes. The geranium - which I assume is supposed to be rose - brings to mind a less earthy/powdery Tweed. There is a yellow-green animalic going on that is honeyed and does remind me a little of Bill Blass creations. I've never smelled 'Nude'. Now I really Must! As this warms on the skin there is a spicy note that makes me want More. I have to agree with joliecat that this is cinnamon. Deceptively uncomplicated in it's sophistication. I have to believe this will grow into a companionable Love.

A classic scent; very ladylike. Although very affordable, it's an elegant, floral & powdery frag which can be mistaken for a more expensive one.

Remind me of Anais Anais in a lighter version, pleasant but not my cup of tea !

This is a copy of Bill Blass Nude cologne spray. No where near as good at nude. When I had Charming I ended tossing it in the garbage. There is a strong plastic note that is odd and unpleasant and astringent like.

Do you enjoy Bill Blass Nude but wish it were much stronger? And contained a big burst of starchy, aldehydic powder? Look no further! I happen to enjoy Nude but find it far too tame and a little dank. There is nothing dank about Charming - she is frank and strong and vintage, reminding me endearlingly of my grandmother's ironing starch. I also smell considerable orris /iris, not listed. What a wonderful surprise! Iris fragrances can be hard to source at this price point, and here it is in abundance. The sum total of Charming reminds me of the elegance of another era, with a practical side of being extremely CLEAN smelling. The price is also compelling, in that many sprays will not cost the wearer much of anything. Not that you will Need many - Charming is strong! The best part? This is an astonishingly good choice for the humid, dog days of summer. Freshens and lasts... and lasts....providing a sense of cleanliness that might otherwise be severely lacking. Wearing this out and about on a searing hot day saved my sanity and added a real mood boost. I have found my summer Superwoman scent! For those wanting a 'safe' bind buy, look elsewhere, but for the vintage aldehyde lovers, you may have found a new budget love. Absolutely 5 stars. <3

2 more years and now I Ike it! It’s still one I only wear at the house on errands for me,but it’s much softer now. It only took 6 years for this to grow on me! Fast forward 4 years, I still have this and really enjoy it now as a powder scent. I will not reup once I’m out though. I do not understand the intense love for this fragrance or the comparison to Anais Anais. I bought this as a blind buy and for the price, it was well worth it. I have to admit that this has grown on me but once this bottle is gone, I will not purchase another. The first spritz is strong- like something a woman past her 70s might wear beautifully- overwhelming but like what I imagine perfumes to smell like pre-1940s when there weren't many options for affordable perfumes. As the initial notes die down, it does turn into something softer and powdery which appeals to me, so I do enjoy it as a room spray. Occasionally, I do put it on at night because there is something I enjoy about it but I would never dare wearing this to work or around a group of people I already know for fear that it might stink as badly to them as it did to me when I first smelled it.

I find this fragrance to be a very astringent Iris fragrance--I'm surprised to not see aldehydes, oak moss or Iris listed. It's sophisticated and slightly aloof, but not snooty. The sandalwood brings warmth to an otherwise cold scent. Ylang-ylang usually gives a warm, round powder on my skin but not so here; the powderyness is more cool and dusty. I find this similar in style to Bijan Nude (female) and, slightly, to Iris Poudre. Longevity was at least 8 hours on my skin, consistently moderate-strong projection that didn't wane during the day. The bottle is sturdy and has a nice rounded, heavy feel but a bit of a weird, dated look.

One of the freshest powdery perfumes I have. Great value - I will send this to many as a present. So inoffensive and clean I cant imagine this offending anyone. So well blended it envelops with the scent of Spring and Summer but also great for cozy cold nights when comfort is what you are after. Win win all the way.
