Melbourne Amber Musk

VERY, VERY NICE. I received a generous sample of this luxurious perfume with my order of BLACK COCKATOO (5 Stars). This is LOVELY. RICH and intense with a delicious musky-woody-oudy aroma. Appears like a thick resinous oil probably because it is made with ABSOLUTES which are the strongest version of an undiluted perfume essential oil. An absolute from my understanding is a resin or 'sap' rather than a thin clear liquid. Black Cockatoo is quite thick and viscous so it would indicate it contains a high percentage of perfume Absolutes. Melbourne Amber Musk is an alchemist mixture of Australian White Amber, Honey Suckle, Ambrette Seed (Musk) and Oud with a subtle hint of Rose. The base notes of Western Australian Sandalwood and Truffle are definitely noticeable. I also get a sense of BENZOIN - which I adore! To me this is definitely a man's fragrance. There is no doubt. However my girlfriend 'stole' the glass rollerball from my vanity and was wearing it out on Saturday. Two total strangers, one a lady, actually asked her what perfume she was wearing because it smelt so unusual the other was the taxi driver when we jumped in. Possibly on some girls it might be OK but I still think this is definitely a ONLY FOR MEN FRAGRANCE. Possibly I applied too much all over my neck but the silage of this fragrance is pretty enormous and enough to fill a room. Value wise it is EXCELLENT because you can also buy a small size, 10ML/.338FL OZ. A lot of Christopher Han lon perfumes are $1,000, $2,000 and even $8,000 for a big sized bottle but there is no need to spend that much money - opt for the small 10ML/.3888FL OZ instead. Heaps better value in my opinion. MELBOURNE AMBER Musk is a warm, sexy and delicious aroma for men. It is made with 100% natural essential oils etc so Hanlon's perfumes are very good for people who get allergies or skin rashes from supermarket-style perfumes. In my opinion, CHRISTOPHER HANLON has a terrific collection of boutique fragrances and they all smell extremely individual and different. I would recommend purchasing the TRIAL SET of 5 PERFUMES so you can take the perfumes for a run; and also take your time to enjoy, and appreciate the fine quality of this Australian perfume House. The perfumes are also layer able so you can do fragrance combining with the Christopher Hanlon collection - should you prefer. MELBOURNE AMBER Musk is also excellent when sprayed onto a jacket. It stays on fabric for weeks. However you need to purchase the spray atomiser bottle to do this not a Rollerball. Magnificent unisex scent, soft enough to wear to work (doctor) yet still lingers after a long shift. MELBOURNE AMBER Musk is a delicious, addictive and almost narcotic fragrance. I receive a small 10ml FREE bottle with my latest purchase! This perfume is BEAUTIFUL and you need only the tinniest amount applied to your pulse points to get excellent projection. Upon checking their website, the price is very good because you can buy as little as 10ML for around $50 Australian dollars or 5,000 yen (of the actual perfume concentrate!). A large glass bottle is expensive because it is the pure, strongest perfume concentrate available from the Chrsitopher HANLON company and about 4 times stronger than conventional perfume or after shave. A big bottle is around $800 Australian Dollars or $7,000 Japanese Yen. You only need a very small amount because it is about 400% stronger than normal perfume. The Cologne is the lightest version if you want to be very discreet and subtle with just a light skin scent and not an overwhelming perfume (which I LUV ;-) The HANLON brand is highly sought after by many perfume enthusiasts, especially on Tin Tok, and it has won several awards for its perfumes. The brand continues to create new and genuinely exciting modern and classic fragrances and it has been featured in several major publications. Delicious 💜 Totally Different 💜

This perfume by Christopher Hanlon is really lovely on my skintype. I find it rich and it mellows over the evening. Definately you can smelll the ambrette seed extract! Wouldn't call it orange at all. All of his fragrances are pretty difficult to tell the individual notes - he is an expert perfumer/blender. It is just a 'perfume'. One of his unique scents. Anyone can spot a Christopher hanlon perfume though once you have smelt them. I would never spend big money on a mass produced toxic chemical perfume by a corporation. That's why I love Christopher Hanlon. He is unique. And an artist. Some of his things are over thetop like his $20,000 bags and I saw an $18,000 bottle of Perfume Extrait in his store. However no one is making us by them, That is for the super super rich. The elites 💙⭐️💙⭐️💙⭐️

It’s a nice fragrance with an ambrette and florals. I was hoping to get a bit more orange blossom, as it’s a note I really like, but it’s just not there. This leans masculine for me. It’s really great, but is it worth $500 AUD for 50ml? Not for me. I feel this is overpriced, but that’s a matter to be determined by your own financial situation. I feel that this brand is targeting the elites which is kind of sad, because it appears to be a great Australian brand without the values of the great Aussie lifestyle.

[MAY 2024] Snagged a one-time chance to get 8 different rollerballs from Christopher Hanlon + a body wash for 100AUD. 15 days to ship within Australia (The first 7 days-- inclusive-- were spent concocting a fresh batch of the liquid in a lab.) This perfume is not a traditional floral. With a fruit-like jamminess coming from the combination of honeysuckle, tuberose, patchouli, musk mallow, and earthy truffle: Melbourne Amber Musk is a beautiful, seductive floral-musky fragrance with the potency of a local market attar with undertones of lip balm-like powder. Has the softness of musky animal fur, akin to a golden fruit eating Australian treeclimber animal. Nothing skanky, more sweet and pillowy. I don't find this a fit for me for its fruity sweetness (not that this is too sweet, but this leans on the "perfumey" side of fragrances instead of "botanical") but a friend of mine would love this rollerball of Melbourne Amber Musk so this is my form of "spreading the word" for this brand. I acknowledge this fragrance captures a relaxed Art Deco-like Oriental-genre opulence coming from its combination of well blended pillowy-ness, and balm-y fragrant depth suited to the theatres of Melbourne. Make no mistake, others can smell this on you even from a rollerball. I will say however, this is notably well blended and not harsh or heavy to my nose at all. Not a single hint of alcohol on anything from Christopher Hanlon-- of which this lack of irritating alcohol sharpness from any fragrance is a rarity to me. This is a like from me. I want to support Australian brand, but I really couldn’t handle this. Gave a slight headache after top-notes disappeared, extremely strong. On the the positive side it’s long wearing and gives a good spillage.

To be perfectly honest, I only tried this because of the name (Melbourne is a city near and dear to my heart). Unfortunately there is nary a trace of anything in here that I would categorise as actually linking it to the location it's named for. Where's the coffee? The scent of traffic and excellent-but-overpriced baked goods? I'd even settle for a whiff of bubble tea, what with the way the stores have sprouted across every corner of the city ;) Alas. At any rate, this is a dense, musky-aromatic highly-botanical wall of smell. It's listed as unisex (and by all means, wear what you want!) but leans close enough to "men's aftershave" that I'd personally pause before putting it on. I detect no "warm" amber in this, and while there might be white florals bulking up the background, the front leans more musk/patchouli/aromatic woods, with perhaps a hint of lemon. It's definitely opaque and multi-layered, though I am testing from a rollerball which is an extrait. I'm not sure about other concentrations. It's not my personal style and leans too masculine for me. That's been true for most of the offerings from this house, but I will add that the (male) friends that I passed samples to have really enjoyed them.
