Boston Tea Party, 1773

I really like the historical events this brand chose to bottle, and this scent here is a perfect example. Many of my favorite notes in here; such as tea, leather, ambergris. All the notes work together wonderfully to first set the scene, then aid in imagining the aftermath. I have never been to Boston, but I imagine with all the docks and piers that this fragrance would smell amazing. I've worn this in all types of weather and it always works for some reason. Only thing I can critique is the castoreum because it distorts the opening, making it go from a salty sea to a bathroom stall. I know that sounds silly but that is what I smell 35% of the time, but it never drove me away completely because I knew for a fact that an amazing dry-down was waiting. The dry down still holds aspect from the opening such as the salt and a slight hint of bergamot, but the main star is the tea for sure. The leather lingers every so slightly behind the tea, and that is the way it should be. This fragrance is a really fun experience, it's complex in it's own unique way. Even when considering shipping and what not, I still think the price is a high. I got the collectors edition (I think that's what they call it) I could've saved if I went with the other option but it looked to cool lol, so maybe I can't complain about price too much. Packaging is top notch tbf, and fits the vibe perfectly. Overall? This is a 9/10.

Weird but nice. My first contact with these perfumes was a bit shocking. No idea how this can not be in the notes, but for the first hour all I could smell were some burned tires and salt. Like a speedway competition by the ocean. At this time, I was both annoyed by this smell and intrigued at the same time. Slowly, the burned (castoreum?) notes go away and some bergamot tea comes out as more noticeable, just to leave you with some pleasant but nothing as exciting salty tea scent that stays rather close to your body. This one is not as loud and omnipresent as its sister scent Cleopatra. Still, if you've tried everything and are bored with another gourmet vanilla scent, this will entertain you for sure. I'd love the salty bergamot tea to stay a tad longer and stronger, but I guess it's the propriety of the citrus notes to leave quite fast

Review 1. Boston Tea Party. "Essence of Boston Harbor" Took a few weeks to ship to America, but it was well worth it. I have lived in Boston for forty years, I grew up directly across the street from the Boston harbor. I intentionally waited for a drizzly, cloudy, windy night to walk around wearing this scent and it encapsulates Boston in a bottle to me. I am usually extremely critical with gimmicky fragrances, there is another perfume about Boston with coconut and orange/citrus..I don't know what universe those notes would come close to "Boston", but this one actually delivers. As I walked deeper into the wind and felt the drizzle it magnified the aroma and feeling of the whole Boston Tea Party experience. I highly suggest wearing it before sundown and try it out in the same bad weather the Sons of Liberty did as they threw tea overboard. I actually was surprised and shocked how well it did and I was laughing to myself as I smelled it on me and kept saying "This is actually the cityscape of the harbor". I honestly didn't expect it. If I were a paid Boston revolutionary reenactor or even a history teacher I would wear this all the time. It definitely has the possibility and potential to layer other colognes also. I do work at a Boston yacht club established in the 1800s and it does a great of matching the centuries old wood smell. I have a lot of fragrances and this is the only one in my entire collection that made me feel like I'm not old enough to fully appreciate even tho I'm 40. It's complex, but fun and accurate all at the time same. I thought the castoreum note was a clever addition to it. Top five, definitely. Signature scent, maybe. Beautiful case and bottle. Longevity is very important to me and I could still smell this one for hours after. I applied it at 6 pm and still felt faint wood scent at 4 am. It projects quite well also. to be fair, i was expecting this fragrance to be a hot mess (no pun intended), but it's surprisingly very wearable. it smells like a concentrated black tea that has been brewed in saltwater. nothing too out of the ordinary, but the idea behind this fragrance is probably its main selling point anyway.
