Spite Eau de Toilette

Spite, in name, in nature, but not SpiteFUL, this Goddess of a perfume has become my signature as I work through serious trauma. I've felt real spite oozing from my pores, but thankfully this beauty has tamed the venom. I've paraded around in her temper tantrum for hours, and she's just as livid now as she was at the start! The longevity is superb. Violet, a hint of rose, orris and Angelica collide but not haphazardly. They create a symphony that sits on a leather chair, with a sweet resin undertone. I took my puppy to see my elderly Father today, who is poorly. He kept sniffing the puppy. He stated he loved the smell of her; innocence, and bubble gum. I pondered that, as I left his house, thinking how we all create our own olfactory journey, and what it conjures to us and our memories. To my Dad, I smelled of bubble gum; it was all over my puppy from sitting on my shoulder. To me, as I glanced sideways at my Mother as she turned her nose up at it, I only smelled of Spite. LOVE IT.

This is a smell full of contradictions for me, simple yet complex, airy yet juicy, sweet yet powdery and dry. It’s great! I find it to be a Chronotope’s most approachable, and closest to “conventional” while still having its own voice and unique expression. A sweet, ozonic, green and powdery spring breeze!

This is so different than the EDP. It's a cliffside garden: I get a lovely subdued rose, ample violet, and some fresh salty sea spray. A really "pretty" aquatic which is hard to come by. The dry down is slightly sweet, a little powdery, the violet melts with cozy sandalwood and orris. Lots of depth here.

Spite EDT ("Spite Lite") is much more forgiving and likeable than it's very different EDP counterpart. It's a VERY ozonic violet and cool, sugary rose loukoum. There are also somewhat anisic, green facets. While Maddox's rough-hewn style is here, this is something I can appreciate and be almost tempted to wear. I kept smelling the scent strip, we could have a winner here. The dry down is delightfully sandalwood-powdery, which, while not mind-blowing, is well done. Very interesting—and to think this was borne out of some spiteful impulse.
