Catania

Catania is a heavy scent. Heavy on spices, heavy on lavender, heavy on amber, heavy on cardamom, heavy on balsams and heavy on leather. So heavy that when smelled up close it made me instantly sneeze. Masculine and very complex with warmth and oomph! No jasmine, no vanilla, no tonka bean which would offer some femininity and create more balance and contrast. It settled after about 30 minutes into something more palatable but this is too much and too masculine for my liking! If you’re a guy looking for something that screams and you want to attract attention, Catania is the scent for you! It’s the type of fragrance that enters the room before you.. For the performance and the quality of this fragrance, the price is more than right! Plus, the bottle and the cap are so unique and different than any other Italian brand on the market! More people should try Ciatu, it’s really a brilliant fragrance house with a distinctive aesthetic!

Heavy on the leather, Amber and wet tobacco, with lavender making a small appearance. Too harsh for me.

It feels like the brand’s most powerful leather scent, just like the region of Catania itself: dark, dusty, volcanic, and slightly ominous. Here, everything revolves around leather — endlessly masculine and ultra-powerful. Leather hand in hand with tolu balsam. The smell is like being in a dentist’s office, where the dentist is fully dressed in leather — clinical, strange, and dominant at the same time. Leather, resins, and spices define the composition. Very nocturnal. Rating: 9/10 — a true work of art.
