Taormina Eau de Parfum

Sampled the entire collection of Ciatu while visiting their flagship store in Ortigia and found a beautiful scent in a very unique packaging: Taormina EDP! Decided to purchase Taormina after testing all their five creations during the two days I spent on the peninsula and after careful consideration. I found two of their scents too masculine for my taste, Akragas and Catania. Khalisa, I didn’t really cared for. I was torn between Ortigia and Taormina, very different scents, both wonderful nonetheless! Taormina came home with me since it’s more intense and complex smelling scent. Opening is very herbal, green and sharp from lemon verbena, grapefruit, bergamot and orange. But as it develops and gets toward hearts note, it becomes a beautiful jasmine centred fragrance. Neroli, magnolia, cyclamen alongside jasmine really take over the citrusy opening and Taormina blooms into a beautiful floral scent. It maintains the freshness and green aspect until it disappears from the skin but the flowers and the base notes are transforming the juice into something more smooth, woody, musky and vanillic. Turns out that Taormina is a multi layered scent with moderate (on skin) to long lasting performance (on clothing) and moderate sillage. The packaging is simple but unique, showing Ciatu’s deep connection with Sicily’s history and culture! It’s entirely hand made, the bottles are clear glass and have a sticker on the front with a symbol of the city that gave the scent its name. In this case the image of the Greek Theatre from Taormina. The cap of all bottles is a genuine piece of ceramic representing a Moor’s head, in this case in white, glazed finish! Piece of art from all aspects! Very fairly priced at 130€!!

Citrus Neroli fragrance. If you like Neroli portofino (with basil and moss), you will likely like this. Nothing out of the ordinary.
