Master

This is a warm, brown-black leather, slightly smoky. Rather classical and masculine. The shoulder to lean on. But not your father's shoulder, there's hardly an old school drift nor barnyard attacks. Russian leather as the underlying fantasy note maybe, yet careful and comparatively modern. If you smell closely you'll find the early bitter orange, but think orange zest in your Old Fashioned rather than the common high impact fruity nose catcher. Speaking of Old Fashioned: Mark replaced the whisky with a spoonful of fine cognac, which I detect when smelling the sprayer but not as part of the scent when on skin. But this along with other harmonising notes make the overall sensation as I feel it: The vanilla and tobacco smooth out the potentially harsh leather, and so does what I understand as the main player - the aromatic cocoa. While it's not the most prominent note per se, it works wonders. It is a genius move imho to balance this powdery, dry and soft note as a counterpart to the strong leather accord. The result is a comforting scent, bold yet emotional, that surrounds me and makes me smile. Combined with the surprisingly moderate projection you have a more versatile perfume than you would expect from your previous leather lessons.

Amazing, dynamic fragrances that screams "daddy likes leather". It opens with a splash of citrus, both fresh lime and medicinal bitter orange, this scene is drowned out by the cognac a few minutes later. After the cognac you get to the first long stage of floral leather, notes of jasmine, lychee, and leather dominate, eventually fading into the multihourslong "warmer" notes of frankincense, cypress, and oud. The notes are perfect on paper, but on my skin I get a civet note, starting at the floral leather stage ending at about the sixth hour of wear, that smells like a feed store. The civet note is subdued, but at anything closer than arms length smells bad. Longevity is great for a dynamic fragrance, noticeable the morning after, but projection fades based on the remaining notes. Though objectively great, I have to hold off on this since I can only comfortably wear it in situations where I can't smell myself.

A nice one. I dig the citrus in the opening, very much an orange-bitters-in-your-whiskey-sour feeling, and then it sticks around to the skin pleasantly with a warm leather that projects. I'm a sucker for scents like this, and will probably save the rest of my sample for cooler weather. For the girls who love imagery: imagine wiping down a dark oak desk in a library with clean, bright citrus polish, then placing your glass of bourbon on it. Maybe your leather driving gloves are in the desk's dusty top drawer. Can't be mad at that, can you?

Spice and citrus zest dominate for me here: background players for me are tobacco, some woodsy notes, and leather. Obviously your mileage may vary with this comment, but to me wearing this makes me feel like my father when he was going to a nice dinner. I don't know what he cologne used to wear, but I've never felt more like him than I have when wearing this.

Masculine perfection - loamy old fashioned, peat, sweetness, smoke, orange - just an utterly addictive and rich smell. Not cloying, uplifting and beautiful. Cool weather wear. I picture walking in London, well-dressed, cloudy day, cool breezes. I could swim in this. Can't get enough.

A very novel take on leather -- does not travel well-beaten pathways down which Knize 10 or Tuscan Leather copies march. I'd get a sample if I were you!

Soft, smooth, sexy, masculine-leaning. An excellent leather fragrance for those who aren't too much into leather. Incomparable to other leathers I've sampled, although I must admit that I'm not too fond of leather as a main player in any fragrance. Light citrus, florals, and sweetness in the opening. Leather throughout, and then the cognac shows itself during the drydown. Lasts forever and has good projection. Very inoffensive and wearable in an office environment or date night.

Really smooth and certainly masculine leaning. But don't let that stop you. Wear what you like. This thing has staying power and you certainly get leather. I see this as an easy wear and a great one to have. Will now go on my dream want list.

Brief orange liquor opening that turns towards a fruity and floral leather, then a smokey leather. Slightly animalic. I don’t share in the enthusiasm as those below me. It’s ok.

I feel I can only describe my experiences of Master using the concept of sceneing, good or bad, so here goes. In this particular scene, I am on the right side of the slash, not so much in a slave role-as that’s never been my proclivity-but rather a well understood and executed power exchange, and I am anxiously standing outside of an offfice door in a home unfamiliar to me. There are bright citrus candles burning in the hallway, exuding soft light and a beautiful scent to keep my nerves calm. I knock, twice, as instructed. “Did you dress how I asked?” A voice queries. “Of course.” The leather that I am wearing suddenly seems to melt into my skin. “Are you getting smart with me?” “No, Sir. Yes, I dressed how you asked.” “Come in.” I slide open the pocket door, step onto beautiful cedar floorboards, and my nose is hit with a myriad of scents. “Stop. Close your eyes.” I freeze, and feel the hairs on my neck raise as the electricity of power is behind me. A strong hand grips my bare shoulder, and Sir exhales on my neck. I can feel his eyes on me. “Good Girl” I hear him whisper. A blindfold covers my eyes. Goosebumps. My other senses go into overdrive. As my heart races, my nose is filled with orange and cognac from Sir’s breath, tobacco from his clothes, the leather from my attire, beautiful florals from what I assume are arrangements in the room. I can smell incense burning. It’s not just incense....something else. “We are sticking to our agreement, but if you are uncomfortable I need to know.” “Yes Sir. Likewise.”

I get almost none of the listed notes. For the first hour or so, all I get is something woody/oud-y plus hint of scream; a little like lacquered wood, but that's all. At this stage is smells boring and incomplete. At the end of the day its nicer and I can maybe detect some citrus with the wood notes, which are much smoother. It’s a skin scent for most of it’s life, but a strong one in that I don’t have to huff myself cross eyed to smell it, just be near it. Still not a fav.
