Elysium

on the day it was in the market, I read in the magazine, the AD showed a frosted glass bottle placed among many colorful flowers. I thought this must be dreamy, otherworldly flowery, like the name suggested, I went to the Clarins counter and said I want one, perfumes were not that price-high in the last century and at that time I used their facial products. Elysium contains melon fruits, like those days' perfumery. the flowers freesia, jasmine and lindenblossom are mentioned with sandalwood in the manual. I won't say it's fruity, for it's flowery, and for me it's not aquatic or ozonic, the lingering distinctive musk gives you the impression it's affectionate and not near you at the same time, not for the water down, for it's heaven sent. those day's fruity but not sweet is truely today's treasure. my heaven scent lies peacefully in my closet and waits me all these years. and the correct name of its format is Eau de Toilette Concentree, EDTC, offering skin-softening with nature plant extracts like ginseng, ispaghul, the old world plantago, and the heavenly linden. PS ONLY use it when your skin is in clean condition, or better on the clothes, new and clean are also NEEDED.

I must have over a dozen different perfumes! But if they still made this I'd only need one. I've tried Carolina Herrera 212 which has similarities but it's not the same. Update: I took a risk on a second hand bottle on Ebay. It smells a bit off at first (I figured there was a chance it could've gone bad given the age of it) but after about 10 minutes I can smell that familiar scent I fell in love with - still not 100% "fresh" but enough to go on if I'm trying to find something similar. Thankfully I got it at a good price - no way would I pay $300 plus most sellers are asking given the risk. Further update: I've given up on ever getting a bottle of this that's still good. My last one went bad real fast. I bought one recently and she asked me to come and try it before buying. I gave it a spritz and it was beautiful. Got it home and sprayed with abandon and it just went all musky. I'm slightly devastated :'( - I don't think I'm ever going to find "the one"

A couple years ago, I hit the jackpot on eBay. A brand new gift set with 1.7 EDT, 5oz lotion, and soap for...don't hate me please...$22. I was stunned because I had bid far more than that and expected to be outbid, but no one bid. Enough of my bragging, now about the scent. Gorgeous floral (and I don't generally like florals) with some melon to keep it from smelling like a funeral. Lasts and lasts, especially considering it is EDT and the bottle is at least 15 years old. I bought 2 other 3.4 bottles for far more than $20, but fortunately neither were bad, so I'm glad I stocked up. Herrera 212 is similar, but not as good, and only lasts a few minutes. This one was a dream, and I do wish they hadn't stopped making it. Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 9/10 Overall: 10/10

This perfume is a soft sweet sensual dream that bathes your senses in an all over feeling of peacefulness like after an orgasm and good sex. I love it. This is my favorite perfume ever and I might have to get another job...but I WILL HAVE IT !!! Thats how much I love it. Sweet like a newborn. It does something wonderful to your mind and body when you put it on. For me, it instantly can change my mood.

The fact that this has been d/c breaks my heart. I still have some tucked away in a cabinet--every once in a while I take it out and breathe deeply. I don't dare wear it or I'll run out completely. So clean and fresh, without being soapy or loud. A gorgeous scent!

Seriously? Two votes saying it smells like the One Direction fragrance? Not even close. *facepalm*

I think this is now discontinued. I loved it and was gutted when they stopped making it.

I found a small vial of this hidden away in my chest of drawers. It’s almost full and it’s developed into quite a deep yellow, but what’s absolutely surprising is that it still smells good. I suspect it’s because it’s been kept in the dark since the mid ‘90s. First sniff has me wondering whether this was one of the first fruit cocktails, because it is definitely juicy and fruity, although I am getting some green and flowers... I can see why there’s a nostalgic fan club for this fragrance, it’s classic and considering my wee bottle is about 25 years old, it still smells fresh, that tidy dab I applied projected well, and I could still smell it a few hours later.

I’ve never had a perfume with a melon note before, and I really think it’s an interesting note. In Elysium, the dominant scent is sweet, gourmand melon — but with a nostalgic, vintage-style gourmand, in the best way. Even though it’s a nostalgic fragrance, you can still easily wear and enjoy it today. اگر بوی طالبی رو دوسدارید این عطر واسه شماست. شیرینو خنک و خوشمزست خیلی بالغه و کمی هم بوی نوستالژیکی داره. 🍈

To my "mind's nose," vintage 212 has some very similar elements. NOT a "dupe" by any means, however. I remember always stopping by the Clarins counter at Lord & Taylor with my mom back in the decade to inhale Elysium and "steal" a spritz. Dunno why she/we never bought it... *Sigh*

It was such a fine,delicate essense...Unfortunately,I cannot find it anywhere,even in France!

I can see that it's been discontinued and they're selling it very expensive on eBay and Amazon so finding an unused 1.7oz on a local perfume shop for less than 20$ seems to be a real bargain and intrigues me to blindbuy it The only problem is that I truely hate aquatic,ozonic scents.perfumes with melon, watermelon,lotus,cucumber and waterlily notes are super risky blindbuys for me but on the other hand I can see that it's been compared to Carolina Herrera 212 which I like(I don't find it ozonic or much aquatic). so I really need your help.is this a true melon/ozonic scent or is it in the veins of 212?

This one has LINDEN flower written all over it. It supersedes the melon, and that was the reason why I bought it back in the 90's, because I was an expat living in the US and the perfume reminded me of the beloved linden tree that is a symbol of my city. I don't find it ozonic or aquatic, but intensely floral and fruity. I so wish they would bring it back or that someone would create a great dupe after it.

My all time favorite scent. I purchased everything I could afford, in the first few years after it was discontinued. I've long ran out, and can't bring myself to pay the outrageous prices people want for an item that I believe may not smell the same after all these years. Oh, Clarins, please bring this fragrance back, if even for a limited time!!!

Has anyone tried getting some from the sites listed above? I'm very tempted to try...but..... not sure if it will be the real thing..? I loved it so much and had gallons of it, I'm kicking myself for having been so lavish with it. Still, I really enjoyed it at the time. Do let me know if you've had success buying some

This was a walking by the counter splurge in the 90's. To me one of the nicest melon, floral and feminine scent. Why they did not continue to produce it? I gave mine away with only about under half left. It was beginning to get that off smell. So I gave it to a friend to Finish it off.

This one shares a lot of similarity with the 90s "for men" aquatic like Insense Ultramarine by Givenchy with the plasticy/melony signature. The difference is this one has extra floral smell and musk thrown in making it much softer. Not worth the inflated ebay price.

I loved this and other people liked it on me. This is the one fragrance which would get me compliments from strangers - never overwhelming and not too sweet, just lovely.
