Musgo Real Classic Scent

Soapiness fused perfectly to patchouli and woods: this is my favorite barbershop aftershave, period. I once went to Nepal on vacation and grew a beard while hiking. My Nepali friend advised me to get a wet shave while there, saying that foreigners are always impressed by the service at Nepali barbers. I went to the barber he recommended, which was so classy it made me feel like a cooler version of myself: barbers with perfect haircuts, men in suits getting mustache trims and head massages after work, spotlessly clean, and pungent with a dozen types of aftershave, lotion, and hair tonic. This juice smells exactly like that barbershop; this might have even been the stuff that was used on me there. It almost feels too luxurious to use every day, but I do anyway. A vacation in a foreign city, every time I shave.

My favourite from Musgo Real line, which is unusual for me as I usually go for citrus-dominant fragrances. This is a classic barbershop fragrance, and is very linear to my nose. A clean, mild fragrance that I love. I prefer the aftershave to the EDC, but they're both good in my books.

Yeah, this is what I consider a real barbershop smell. I have the aftershave and it makes the skin feel smooth and moist. It also smells really good. The scent is light and classic, and I think it is some sweetness in there. I wished it would last longer.

Classic barbershop. Lightly soapy, clean, green and musky. This is solidly masculine without being overbearing.

This is a classic creamy sandalwood thing with a bit of a fresh soapy edge to it.

I recently purchased all 4 Claus Porto Musgo's colognes, as there was too much hype about these fragrances, being of such a good quality, superb and unusual... Let me tell you, I'm not impressed by them at all, and I don't understand what's the "extravagant exaggeration" all about... Let me explain, this is only IMO, and it doesn't mean that anyone should agree with it... The most famous fragrance from this house, Musgo Classic scent is very "cliche" cologne scent, that can be found at any supermarket at 1/10 of the price. DNA is Brut-ish sort of smell, that doesn't last longer than 2 hrs max. Not impressive whatsoever ! The rest 3 of them similar longevity... If I can choose the favorite, it would be the Oak moss, that resembles like Aramis Black. Not bad at all. The Orange amber is clone of 4711, and Spiced citrus, similar to it , just a bit spiced up... Conclusion: For the price they are selling, they are not cheap at all, and IMO not worth it ! Try it before you buy it!

The Classic Scent aftershave is quite unique. I enjoyed using this splash as it felt very old school, like an Edwardian barbershop! Although Musgo Real is Portuguese, I experienced it as classic, traditional and yesteryear British - remindful of how Dunhill of London barbershop may have smelt back in 1903. Overall the Musgo Real Classic Scent aftershave does have a warm, grassy, laundry and talcum powder scent going on. The aftershave lotion is viscous which is advantageous as it drips slowly out of the bottle and then conditions the post-shaved face very well. For the cost you definitely get spectacular mileage out of this. I like the bottle design also; classic looking with a more oblong than square shape and feels good in the hand. I've not tried the Musgo Real Classic Scent shave cream but I've heard it's sensational!

i put musgo real classic scent up there with penhaligon's "sartorial", acqua di parma's "colonia essenza", and houbigant's "duc de vervins". masculine, green, a bit soapy. this to me would be the barbershop version of boucheron's "jaïpur homme e.d.t." ah the smell of this on my skin after a rejuvenating bath. love it !

A classic barbershop, soapy fragrance. But the Achilles Heel of the Musgo Real line is the poor performance, which at this price point makes it a pass. It should at the very least outlast Pino Silvestre and Agua Brava. After half an hour it's barely traceable.
