Sel Santal

Fresh. Nutty. Crisp and warm. Sparkling and subtly citrus. Familiar and bright, slightly aftershave and cologne and I enjoy it. Love that pop of amber and woods. The salt and fig invigorate. Nutmeg and hazelnut warm and sweeten, but it maintains a softness from distinctive iris and rose. It's a busy ingredient list, but its character is one of simple nutty and woody freshness. Includes the same airy backbone as Yesterday Haze with fig, woods and nuts; but fresher and without too much gourmand creaminess. It's relaxing, casual and fresh, and a favorite from the line.

I wasn't expecting to, but I really like this fragrance. On my skin, I am experiencing a woody musky fragrance with a touch of citrus. I really don't feel like you can describe any Clean fragrances as "strong." Maybe at the initial spray. But once it dries down, Clean fragrances become either a light scent or a skin scent. This one goes pretty light, which makes it even more lovely to wear. I don't think I would buy a huge bottle of this, but it is travel spray worthy in my opinion. Sel Santal is a great day time fragrance that can be worn all year round.

I made the mistake of buying this upon only smelling it on paper. The top notes are feminine leaning but when that goes away it becomes definitely masculine to my nose. This smells amazing on a man. Picture your office crush who looks like he smells good (and actually does). Clean yet striking but still approachable. And even after a hectic work day, he still smells good. Salty, aquatic, woody and creamy in one bottle. This doesn't smell like Santal 33 to me and I don't get the sour pickle vibes at all.

I bought this in Aussie Summer of '23. It was interesting but not what I wanted for the season. This winter however, it's my absolute favourite. Fresh, sharp, woody. Divine on its own, or lovely paired with S.F Mysteriosa, T.M Aura or M.B Signature- for that sharp woody, winter fruits vibe. I'm out and I need another bottle!!! I must confess though, I work in a fragrance department and I'm kind of obsessed with more niche scents 😅

Beautiful fragrance!! Sel Santal was an instant love for me, it smells wonderful and performs fantastic on my skin. If you have ever been to the High Desert in Central/Eastern Oregon, that's the feeling I get from Sel Santal. The scent picture I get from this juice is so vivid that it sometimes stirs up a longing to return to those places of my youth. I highly recommend giving Sel Santal a sniff!!

Blind bought this for a steel. It leans more masculine to me, especially in the opening, in the dry down it’s more unisex. Very green, woody, fresh, sweet and a little powdery. Unfortunately I don’t get a lot of the salt, fig or whipped cream but in the dry down the violet, amber and sandalwood come trough. I really like it and it will suit my husband really well, can’t wait to sniff it on him.

A clean, salty, spicy sandalwood. Not sweet. I've never been impressed by many of the Clean range but I reaaaallly like this one. I like this better than my Hermes Santal Massoia. More beefy, more assertive. Better sillage. Like if I had a fling with a guy who had a very fancy apartment with expensive sandalwood soap in his nice shower... and the smell lingered on my skin the whole next day.

I like this very much! Warm and woody with a hint of freshness. I don't think this smells masculine whatsoever, but perhaps my perception of what makes a masculine scent is somewhat skewed. It avoids overt sweetness and the irritating "green" note that I associate with designer fragrance flaps in magazines. So far this is my favorite scent from Clean!

Santal 33 pales in comparison to this beauty. I was so disappointed when I tried a sample of the former after being spoiled with this. Unlike pickles in a perfume bottle, this gives me warm, creamy, yet rough and mature sandalwood. While it's rather masculine, anyone can wear this. There's something about this that reads like a warm hug to me.

The amount of women thinking this is going to be sweet/femenine, after looking at the whipped cream note has me rotfl. This is masculine leaning. Really well blended sandalwood, green woody fragrance, it smells absolutely amazing on my husband. I absolutely don't get pickle juice? This is a fresh, clean scent that lingers in my memory.

I'm on my second full bottle of Sel Santal, and I know I'll definitely get a third once this one is finished. Sel Santal is such a comforting, pleasing fragrance that takes me back to the High Desert in central Oregon where I grew up. I can't recommend this scent enough—give it a try and let it bring you a sense of home.

This is in my top 10 fragrances. I love the salty note and wear it layered over many other fragrances, from nerolis to roses to gourmands. I find it to be very long lasting, especially on the clothes, but it's still sticks close to the body. A beautiful fragrance, I hope they never discontinue it.

Word around the campfire is Clean Beauty Collective is going to phase out and discontinue Sel Santal. If you want a bottle or a backup bottle, now is the time to get one. It won't be long until the available stock gets low and the prices go through the roof.

I've bought several of the mini sets at Sephora and love to pack three or four for trips to mix up my fragrance. I especially love to mix Sel Santal with lighter scents like Elizabeth Arden White Tea or Versace Yellow Diamond to make them a little beachier.

Love this! It's light, fresh, and clean. It reminds me of CK2 but the bergamot adds a light floral scent. I usually favor gourmet scents but even I know this scent is a typical woody, oriental, green scent. Nothing special or unique but it's still great.

This is my friend's signature scent. She is beautiful. So is this perfume. It's like Santal 33 if Santal 33 were actually good (less iris notes). By far best santal sandalwood scent I've ever smelled. And reminds me of my lovely friend. Wow

this scent is a nice low-profile salty sandalwood! woody but not too masculine, it's super versatile and great for layering or wearing on its own. easy to reach for as a casual everyday fragrance without being overpowering

this is the first sandalwood fragrance that doesn't give me straight pickle. it's aquatic, but not overly so. it's an uplifting, clean wood that fades into watery florals. i love this so much. i'd say it's unisex as well

I normally do NOT like woody scents but this one quite literally took me on a hike through the redwood trees. It’s a fresh but spiced wooden smell that’s more feminine. I absolutely love it.

On me, this is sweet in a woody, citrusy, fresh-spicy way.. smells like the colour green :) Really nostalgic, I love it. Reminds me of my dad's old aftershave and scented markers

Blind bought a sampler of this - and my lord I cannot stop sniffing it. It's a bit too masculine leaning for me to wear personally, but I can't wait to smell this on my husband.

I have a pretty massive collection, and hardly ever purchase a new fragrance. When me and my wife experienced this one in Sephora, I knew I had to have it, absolutely love it.

This has become my go-to summer work fragrance. Tonic and sandalwood. It is a skin scent, but not in the ambroxan/musky style, which I personally dislike.

To me this is akin to Santal 33 without that pickle-ish vibe when first sprayed, I think it’s super nice and it’s available for cheap on fragrance sites!

This is a very cool clean unisex parfume, easy to wear but still unique. Fun to layer with or wear alone. Luv it

First Impressions (sample spray): If you love Santal 33 this might be a more affordable dupe for you. Other than that I feel like it's way more salty than santal 33, and has way less fig. I am already not a big fan of santal 33. Thus, I give this perfume a meh rating. Edit: okie after trying the rest of the clean reserve this one is not bad. To me, it just doesn’t smell clean for a woman. This is a nice I like, but on a man perfume for me. It still does have a pickled dry sandalwood that still does remind me of santal 33 with maybe a clean shave version. It does remind me of something that I know yet I can’t remember. That might be the same dna as santal 33. Definitely more masculine, and has a man cologne feeling to it. Summary: Smells like: male cologne, a good santal 33 clone. Family of: santal 33 (-pickly, +masc) Silage: moderate to intimate Verdict: Pass- smells a little bit too much like man’s cologne. If a man wore this I would be impressed ngl.

I'm a bit disappointed that I get absolutely no whipped cream. I get a touch of masculine shaving cream perhaps, but no edible whipped cream. I don't get much violet and iris, either. I definitely get salt and sandalwood, exactly as the name says, but not many of the supporting notes with the exception of fig and tonic water. I do smell some green fig, which may smell more green due to the tonic water accord. To me this starts out masculine, slightly wood polish-y, then dries down to a softer scent. It's not a love for me, just a like, and I find myself wanting to layer it with a simple vanilla, such as Comptior Sud Pacifique's Vanille Intense, because I am wishing for the creaminess that I should be getting according to the listed notes. It does last well- 8 hours or so. I would wear it casually in the daytime, as it is not elegant.

does bear a resemblance to santal 33, but less woody, more salty, sharp, and ambery. this kind of leans more driftwood to me, that sort of artificial sandalwood that every masculine bath and body works scent smells like. the opening is surprisingly floral and soapy, lots of violet and almost a lavender scent, maybe this is the tonic water accord. then it turns more creamy and sweet, the whipped cream comes out along with that intensifying driftwood or sandalwood note and a tiny bit of savory nuttiness. i do actually like the dry down, velvety violet and sandalwood with a nice light salt accord, it's quite pretty but delicate, not much staying power not my preferred formulation of this scent profile, but i could actually see myself wearing this occasionally when i want to mix it up a bit

I just finished a 1.5 ml sample of this and I liked it, but I just did not love it. It didn't leave me with a feeling of needing it in my collection. It IS a nice fragrance though! I currently own something that's just too similar to this, Dolce & Gabbana's K EDP. My husband didn't like it so he let me have at it and while they are very similar to my nose, Sel Santal is very obviously unisex, much more softer and slightly creamy. D&G K is very obviously targeted to a masculine audience and lacks that softness, it's very aromatic whereas Sel Santal is more of a woody fragrance. Still very reminiscent of each other in my opinion. Both very good! I do recommend you sample, don't recommend you blind buy.

Yes, very similar to Santal 33. They share a savory slightly powdery sandalwood accord. Sel Santal layers salty air and a humid greenness underneath the sandal which differentiates it from 33. It gives it a beachy-vegetal tang, which I really like. That said, they are still very similar and Sel Santal could be a flanker of Santal 33. It is very clean without being fresh and heat-compatible without being calone-cologne; an effect I love and it makes sense with the brand philosophy. It is indeed unisex leaning slightly masculine, but not in a "generic man cologne" kind of way. It's more like a rugged outdoors scent. I feel comfortable wearing it as a woman.

The note list is very complex and yet I only get a few aspects when wearing it on my skin! This smells distinctly aquatic and my initial impression was there must be some kind of water lily, lotus, or tropical palm. And yet none of those are present! Instead, Sel Santal is a breezy and salty vacation smell with musk. I get the bergamot, fig, and mandarin, but no floral, nut, or cream. There is some sandalwood. Overall, this is another easygoing Clean scent that lives up to the concept of clean. I don't understand the Santal 33 comparisons except the name.

I picked up a baby mini roller ball of this perfume and my husband really likes it. This is very masculine. Crisp bergamot, w/ a salty twist, woody notes combined w/ a subtle florals, especially violet create a very pleasing easy dumb reach for any guy. The whipped cream and hazelnut are very subtle in this, lending a subtle sweetness and creaminess to a very fresh and aromatic woody floral masculine fragrance. This would be a good everyday fragrance for any guy to wear and could be a signature. Very pleasing and a good performer w/out being overpowering.

I do not personally think this is exact dupe for Santal 33. Same vibes, absolutely, but Santal 33 smells like literal hot garbage on me, whereas this does not. Blind purchased and do not regret; it’s a strong like. Sel Santal is definitely in the same lane as Banana Republic Classic (but more complex), and I get some Grassland in there, as well. There’s a bit of an Irish Spring component in there, but not in a bad way. I think the reason I like this more than the BR scents I mentioned is because it’s a but more complex and less pungent.

A soft, woody fragrance. Only get the sandalwood in the dry-down, and only then does it remind me of Santal 33. To me, this is unisex, but I can see how it might lean masculine to some people. This house does a good job of representing their brand, imo. All their frags are "clean" takes or interpretations of whatever fragrance type (or family) they take on. I get a clean vibe from this woody frag. Still prefer other woody frags of this type with more body or presence.

Fig, salt, whipped cream... everything I was looking for in one bottle. Unfortunately I’m a woman who likes to wear more feminine scents or scents that are truly unisex, and this reads as completely masculine on my skin. Not much (if any) salt, no fig, no whipped cream. Woody, slightly spicy (somewhat generic) scent for men. Would be happy enough to smell it on my husband. Edit 2025: spray on clothes. Smells completely different and lovely.

The opening can be a little harsh. But give it a few minutes before you turn it away. Nutmeg is noticeable and sandalwood too. Iris pairs perfectly with the spicy and Woody notes. At first it might smell like a modern masculine fragrance but you just have to wait for the magic to happen. After the harsh initial notes disappear, you are left with a calm, slightly powdery and clean/green scent. Sandalwood persist all the way.

to me, sel santal is the more interesting and fun cousin of santal 33. it's more aromatic and complex, and definitely more masculine-leaning. it's very classy and almost aquatic- smells like you just went to the barber shop then stopped at a flashy new bar for a G&T. i like decently on myself, but i'm sure it would smell amazing on a wide variety of people! EDIT- the drydown smells pretty minty/herby!

I would love this on a man. The salt note is prominent, and amber underneath that, but I don't get as much sandalwood as I expected. It's not like anything I've ever worn and I'm having a hard time deciding if I like it--half the time it reminds me of a man's expensive soap or shaving cream, and half the time it is one of the sexiest beach fragrances ever.

I was going to ignore the whole line based on the name and my disappointment with Amber Saffron & Smoked Vetiver, but I gave it a chance anyway.. It's surprisingly nice; imagine you accidentally spill Santal 33 on a baby (I hope you never do) and then use barely scented baby soap to wash it off--the soap sums up the middle notes.

This smells so, so good, and also so very uninspired. Salty aquatic with fig. This leans masculine for me, because yes, it does make me think of Axe body spray. I get really good projection with this, and moderate longevity. If this is your vibe, it’s a great affordable choice compared to similar luxury and niche offerings.

I drink a lemonade walking on the beach at sunset; here and there lie wet pieces of drifted sandal wood and algae, a salty breeze brings fresh floral-fruity aromas from the gardens and orange orchards on the coast. I run my fingers through the sand and can almost taste this beautifully scented air...

Well blended fruity sandalwood! This is a really cool unisex scent, with all kinds of interesting notes, but still quite crowd pleasing. I imagine this to smell amazing on both my boyfriend and me! I usually feel indifferent to sandalwood scents, but I really like this one!

Mostly tonic water with bergamot, almost like a salted cucumber style scent. To me this is more like a gin and tonic. Very refreshing. Not really picking up much sandalwood. It also doesn't last very long. A shame since I LOVE salty and woody scents.

Powdery slightly salty aromatic sandalwood-fig-lime combo for summer. Fairly unisex, to me it doesn't lean masculine at all. It has a lovely salt water spa feeling with a fresh kick. Pretty unique, interesting compliment getter.

VERY similar to santal 33, i'm sure the projection/quality is a bit worse. Very woody in an almost animalic way to me. I like to layer it with something creamy. Smells like something you would wear with Carhartt overalls.

While this scent is fairly masculine, I am a woman and wearing it right now. It's absolutely lovely. I do think it's appropriate for a woman to pull off in simple blouse or sundress with simple lines.

Really fresh scent but not overly green or soapy. Unisex, but it leans a little masculine. Santal Supreme by Urban Outfitters is a pretty close dupe. Picked up a big bottle for pretty cheap on eBay.

just going off of first impressions, will edit when i try it more- this immediately smells to me like the dossier santal 33 fragrance (have not actually smelled santal 33 just the dupe)

Quite masculine, coming from someone who typically enjoys masculine scents. Gave it to my boyfriend. More green than I would have liked.
