Solar Bloom

I REALLY like this perfume and it's been my go-to everyday lately. Funny thing though, I initially had a weird experience with the charcoal note, because it smelled SO strong when I first tried it on myself and my clothes. Having used this for a while now though, it's like my nose adjusted and the pungency of the charcoal disappeared. Now, it just smells like it's blending well into the perfume. I think the charcoal note creates this tropical island vibe but not in the 'I'm going on a vacation now' way, more in a 'I just got stranded on a random island au naturel' way. This is because the charcoal note reminds me of a natural vulcano on an uninhabited island, and it's really intriguing to me. I'm also always excited by coconut notes in perfumes and while it's not super prominent, I do detect a soft refreshing sweetness of it. I don't smell the vetiver at all though sadly. I think the floral notes are quite subtle as well and I prefer that because I personally dislike smelling like a flower bomb. I think it's because the coconut water and charcoal notes keep this scent from being florally dominating, and the combination of these notes adds a 'raw' island feel to this scent which grounds it in a refreshing way. Overall, I think Clean Reserve line doesn't have the strongest sillage and Solar Bloom isn't an exception. However, longevity wise it does perform better than the other scents in the line. I think this line overall is good for those who wanna use a perfume but be more subtle at the same time.

I agree with @perfumenoob, could’ve used more coal! BUT! That doesn’t take away from the fact that this is an amazing and very different scent. One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone who lives in the Northern Hemisphere who says something smells tropical and perfect for “hot weather” when what they really mean is 20 degrees! 20 degrees is what a very cold day in December is like for us in the actual tropics ! So most of what the Northern Hemisphere pals recommend as great tropical scents never end up working for us in the actual tropics. Today is a 32 degree hot as a furnace and super humid day. And folks... this is a stunner! If Clean Reserve can amp up the charcoal and improve the lasting power, this would be a staple in my perfume diet, you best believe! (EDIT: it has about 6 hours of longevity! Be warned though, you do get anosmic to it after about 2 hours but others can still smell you! I know it’s annoying but, can’t say that it has bad longevity) This is what I wished Tom Ford Soleil Blanc smelled like. Soleil Blanc has monstrous longevity on me. Do I recommend this? Absolutely. This has to be tested on skin to appreciate it, and appreciate it I do! Gorgeous, very surprised! I was nervous about this because vetiver is very loud on me and patchouli is a note I don't care for, but the charcoal really tames those down. Just a smidge of coconut to smooth the fragrance. Smells like a deep breathe of fresh air at a luxury spa. I can see this doing very well in the searing heat and being refreshing. My signature is becoming Skin from this same line, but that may be too sweet for the 90+ degree, severely humid days of Iowa summer, and this would be a very good substitute. Something about it though is also elevated enough that I could see this as a good professional fragrance. Very clean and "put together".

I spritzed a sample and then loaded up on sunscreen and sat out poolside on a sunny July afternoon and I gotta say - it really worked. The chemical pina colada of the sunscreen mixing with the perfume’s fresh coconut and florals (plus a hint of pool chlorine) was fantastic, and out in the heat this projected far enough that it got comments about how “something smells sweet.” This might be a new casual summer fragrance for me. Edit: well, I’ve just about used up my sample, and a full bottle is on the way. It’s a great everyday summer perfume, bright and light and creamy. I do get the wet asphalt smell of the coal, and it keeps the smell from going too tropical.

This is exactly what I wished CB I Hate Perfume's Wet Pavement was. I am so impressed and surprised, and would've never in a million years thought I would find a scent like that in this range with this name. The coal accord is exceptional, it smells exactly like petrichor, it's damp, it's refreshing, it's muddy and milky and floral in a very satisfyingly bitter way. It smells like what having a mouthful of dirt would taste while it rained in a parking lot full of freesias. I try to test every sample I come across for exactly this reason; I would never have expected to find a scent like this here. This is the scent of spring, and just so vividly portrayed.

Creamy sweet coconut milk grounded by something sweetly woody like a mild sandalwood or fig (personally find it VERY reminiscent of Pacifica's Mediterranean Fig-- probably that coconut-fig-creamy/woody/sweet vibe). Coconut MILK not whole coconut or cream so it doesn't get too sunscreeny or heavy, stays quite fresh. I wouldn't have been able to identify any of the other listed notes tho I can understand their role in lending sweetness; fortunately don't pick up any patchouli which I can't stand

I adore this scent and considering the brand it has pretty decent lasting power on me (~4 hours). The citrus to me is quite subdued, not your typical bright, bursting citrus. The notes I pick up on the most are the creamy coconut milk and the white florals. Someone below said something about wet concrete and I could totally see that! I'm guessing it's the coal note. I feel like this is not your typical summer fragrance (coconut, vanilla, white florals) - it has a little more edge to it.

Really pleasant fragrance! Beachy without veering off to sunscreen. The most prominent notes to me, apart from the florals, are coconut, vetiver and coal. I'm really surprised by how much I like the coal note here. It smells like a rocky beach. It faintly reminded me of Zuma,1975 by Thin Wild Mercury but way toned down, less spicy and with coconut added. Must be because they share some notes such as bergamot, jasmine and vetiver. However, perfomance wise this perfume is rather weak.

I don’t know what all these negative reviews are about but I think this fragrance might be my new favorite! It’s a super fresh scent with just enough citrus and floral notes to balance it out and the coconut isn’t super noticeable but sweetens it up just enough. I’ve been wearing this at work lately as a light natural fragrance and may I say this stuff LASTS. It went about 8-9 hours on me which is unusual because most of my others call it a day at about 6. Love it!

The opening is a little sharp but this quickly settles into the perfect citrus-unisex combo... Airy, summery, a little spicy, and sweetened by just a hint of coconut. Effortlessly beachy without any cliche reminiscence of sunscreen or sickly fruitiness. I am so disappointed that this has such poor longevity, less than two hours. I still bought the travel spray because it's so lovely.

Solar Bloom is perfection. It is a clean tropical scent that makes me feel like I'm on vacation. I feel great all day long when I get a whiff of this throughout the day. Longevity and silage is just right. What I like and most about this perfume is that it smells beautiful without smelling generic. It was love at first sniff.

I'm in love with this perfume. It's soft and summery. The coconut is subtle and adds a slight sweetness. There's a slight woodiness at the base as well -- must be the vetiver. The dry down reminds me going to bed after a day at the beach; warm skin and a faint trace of sunscreen mingling with the night air from an open window

Beautiful, light, slightly milky, floral. I wear this with a vanilla musk body oil and it smells heavenly. I do wish it had more projection but it's a perfect after shower scent. The coal note is very interesting and gives the fragrance a hard to place familiarity. I'm considering purchasing a full size bottle.

In awe of the 'Reminds Me Of' randomness. Very interesting variety. Weird, because the ones that I have smelled or own, I like, but cannot say that they remind me of Solar Bloom whatsoever. I'm intrigued by the differences in all our sniffers. That being said, I need a new bottle of this because I am out!

This is an odd one because I initially thought it was too masculine. I do pick up on the charcoal note and strangely seem to like it. When I put it on my arms, I can stop smelling them. I'll be getting a bottle of it when the sample runs dry.

I love this for the first 2 hours. Loveeeee it. Feels cozy, like hugging someone with perfect hair. After a few hours, the interesting parts go away and it's sort of a flat fireplace deal. So I just respray to get all the coconut back.

Citrus with a lovely coconut milk scent. Very summery and pretty. Almost has a orange creamsicle like smell but with juiciness. It is a touch of aromatic and woody. Perfect summer scent.

Smells like you're in a beach hut drinking out of coconut. Overall, pretty pleasant and likeable.

Where do I start ? Well I have a sample vial of Solar Bloom from a discovery set I purchased. I sprayed it on my wrist today to see of I wanted to test wear this out for a get together with some friends and Upon initial spray, I got that like creamy coconut which I think smells pretty wonderful BUT in the background I got this weird like dirty public bathroom smell for some reason for about 3 minutes.. It was off-putting to say the least. It almost smelled like someone sprayed coconut room spray in a mens bathroom. About an hour later it smelled so beautiful, like a masculine leaning coconut cologne/body spray. So at that point I was so confused yet still very much convinced I wouldn't even consider purchasing this just by that opening I got. I ended up spraying one more spritz on my wrist before a shower and this time I did not get that bathroom smell anymore, only that very pretty coconut scent. I showered and scrubbed and I can still smell the perfume very well on my skin. So now I went from positively disliking this to considering all within 4 hours. 🙃 It's projects pretty well . I will need to test further. Biggest tip I can give is to never ever blind buy anything! Edit: I was right, always test. Ultimately I decided this was not for me.

I'm basing this review on a sample EDP spray from the 8 sample Clean Discovery Set. I like this one, but not enough to buy a big bottle. It's definitely one of those "summer" scents, with coconut and florals, that smells vaguely like old school suntan lotion. I got a hint of patchouli, which works well on me, but none of the coal or wet concrete note. Maybe because this didn't last enough on me to develop that note. As usual with these Clean scents, the longevity is awful on my dry, perfume eating skin, which is one reason I wouldn't buy a bigger bottle. It was strong on my skin for a half hour, and after that, it was a skin scent. To me, it leans female, but YMMV. Also, I'd say it's a safe office scent, and a safe gift unless you know the recipient hates sweet scents. I'd say it isn't a safe blind buy because of the longevity. I advise getting a sample and trying it. See how the longevity is on you, and then decide whether to buy a big bottle. I've said this on other reviews for the Clean scents, and I'm going to repeat it here. I really wish Clean would sell these as perfume oils! If they did, I'd consider buying a full size bottle.

Although the coconut gives a definite summer vibe, I've worn this all year round and was pleased at how it changed to suit the season. This is a nice little multi-tasker. In the summer the scent can pack a wallop (I live in a hot, humid climate) and have had people remark on it from great distances. I was searching for something similar to Harajuku Lovers G Original and this was the closest I got. It's not perfect, but the notes that I was looking for were there. Depending on the weather it can lean more floral or more coal oriented though. G is more white floral but this white floral sometimes surpasses the coconut which is the primary note in G and makes the biggest difference. I get so many compliments on it and it stays. If you spray your sweater, it'll last until you wash it. On skin you get a very decent 6 hours, sometimes way longer. The sustainable packaging is a nice touch as well. This has become a signature scent for me because it performs nicely year round and is a crowd pleaser while also being a scent that no one I've met has ever worn. It's unique for sure and will always be a staple for me.

I like this way more than I thought I would. It's very, very citrusy to my nose and effervescent. I think somehow the coal note is contributing to the fizziness? It's bizarre but nice. This smells absolutely delightful with my nose right up to my wrist. You get the citrus - both the bergamot, which seems to be in every perfume and yet is almost never a noticeable note, and the mandarin - the effervescence, the minerality, the petrichor/earthy notes. The white flowers are blessedly background noise; a little on the fabric softener side of things, but very quiet. From a normal distance, however, I can barely smell this. It's pretty forgettable and you barely remember you even have anything on. Projection and longevity are poor. It's a shame, because I think when you can smell this, it's unique and interesting. Don't expect anyone to notice this. Maybe something you wear for yourself before bed or curling up to read a book. 6/10.

I’ve not been a fan of a great majority of the Clean line save for one or two that I’ve really liked, but this one is honestly quite nice. Maybe a little boring as well. This is what I was hoping I would get from Beach Walk from Replica - a bright, sweet mandarin orange (definitely not citrus in a cleaner kind of way), enveloped by orange blossom and jasmine. It starts to go coconutty and woody in the mid and dry down, which gives it a smooth, creamy aspect. I don’t detect any coal. This fragrance’s main issue is the wear time. It’s atrocious. I sprayed this on about an hour ago, and it’s completely gone. Very low sillage as well - it sits super close to the skin. It’s nice, but I don’t like it enough to spend the money on a full bottle. 5/10

I just finished a sample of this and I must say, this is a wonderful perfume. It goes on powdery on my skin, sort of like Donna Karan Cashmere Mist, only that Cashmere Mist is sweeter and more robust. Solar Bloom is more on the clean side, so it's less sweet, but it's the same type of perfume (not a dupe of each other, just similar in character). I didn't expect to receive a compliment on it today, since I wore so very little of it finishing the sample, but yes, I passed in front of a man from work and he commented as I went by, that I smelled good. He said that it was the wind that carried the scent as I passed by. Very surprising as I had only applied the remaining drops in the sample, and it had been 4 hours after doing so.

Quite a lovely scent, though I don't get the unisex designation at all. To me, it's ultra-feminine, almost girlish: fresh, sweet, citrusy, floral goodness. That said, I'd be intrigued by a man who wears it. This is one of my go-to "normal" perfumes for work or other places where I don't want to stand out too much. While I like it a lot, I wouldn't call it unique or attention-getting, and the longevity and sillage are both moderate. It strikes me as something that would smell good to people who aren't into perfume - it has a light, fun, happy vibe. I like it best on warm summer evenings, when the sweating has died down but your skin is still warm. I plan to keep this in my collection for the foreseeable future.

A really pretty summery, sunscreeny scent. The blast of coconut in the opening had me convinced I wouldn't like this, but it quickly settles into something very creamy and mild. Still way more coconutty than I would expect myself to like, and yet... I do! I can see myself wearing this in the summer and on beach days for sure. Any scent that can get me to like coconut on myself colors me very impressed :) Unfortunately, longevity and silage are both pretty bad, so as much as I'd love this as a signature summer scent, I fear it would be a waste of money to purchase a full size.

Really pleasant perfume. It's bright while still being sophisticated, with the floral-citrus blend. Perfect for spring/summer daytime. This last quite long today- I wore it today and I was outside walking in 85 degree weather for about 2.5 hours and I still smell it on my skin. So far I can still smell it and I have had it on for about 6 hours. The sillage isn't strong, most likely no one would get a whiff unless they smell you pretty close. It doesn't trail. Really like it for an everyday scent that's still sophisticated. 8/10 recommend

This just left my collection as I’ve noticed I’m a coconut perfume hoarder, and this one just isn’t unique enough. Very soft and clean coconut. I smell very little other than that coconut milk, it’s the star of the show here in my opinion. Very nice scent for fresh out the shower feeling (that clean fresh but may be the coal because I can’t discern what the note is that makes it smell like that). I liked just wearing this around the house or when I was lounging about, but it isn’t strong or long lasting enough to justify the price tag.

solar bloom is like how you would smell if you sprayed on some vacation EDT, went to the beach all day, spilled a tequila sunrise or two on yourself, and just got home ready to hop in the shower. it's a subtle, musky take on a "beachy" frag, but i love how it still preserves a hint of that fruity-citrus-ness. it almost reminds me of sand because of the coal, vetiver and patchouli base notes, which i think is interesting. however, it did give me a headache after wearing it for a while, so wouldn't really be one of my go-tos.

I wonder why noone has mentioned Tom Ford Fucking Fabolus? It feels that the Solar Bloom takes the vetiver in the opening to a creamier milky coconut base. It is not a typical solar/sunny/vacation scent, I don't get any association with Soleil Blanc. I think that many people would be scared to give this a try because of the coconut, but I can assure you, that even myself, who stays away from coconut, are able to enjoy it. I wouldn't say it is a typical Clean perfume, but I am happy to have it.

This is rapidly becoming my signature scent. I just wish that sillage and longevity were a bit better, although not terrible for a perfume without phthalates! The citrus opening note disappears quickly and leaves a warm, musky dry down like coconut milk spilled on hot asphalt. It’s heavenly paired with Clean Radiant Nectar for day. I’m still trying to figure out what to pair it with for the evening though! Even my mom loves it and is setting aside her usual White Diamonds and Chanel No 19!

Soooo goood and comforting. Blind bought this and so glad I did. This is a stronger and more potent version of bronze goddess from Estee Lauder...I always wished it lasted longer. The coal note makes the Bronze Goddess a little more unisex...the coal note for me has the same dry effect like ambergris. A comforting summer-vibe A big like for me. Can ́t wait for summer to turn op and wear this. Moderate silage and l longevity long lasting on skin and clothes.

I really like the coconut in this fragrance. This might be my favorite from the Clean line. It's an intriguing mix of coconut and vetiver. First a fresh burst of bergamot, then floral, lightly sweet, but also so earthy and grounded. I don't know, it's really captivated me. It's coconut but also not really a whack you in the face coconut. You could smell this and not really know what you're smelling. I will have to keep this one in mind.

If you like high quality smelling suntan lotion, this is the scent. It smells good, but as suggested from Clean's website, layering it makes this much better when layered with their Neroli Acqua. those two combined give you a wonderful summer suntan lotion and fresh citrus sundried laundry scent. Perfect summer mix without having to smell like all the D&G light bleu folks.

Coconut. Fresh. Nutty. Crisp. Dig that charcoal note: It creates a unique facet. But overall this isn't as bright as I prefer. More tropical, but still approachable and natural. Reminiscent of drinks in the sand without being too beachy or sunscreen. I wanted to test this further, but something in it disturbs my nose/head. Such is life.

Incredibly light, almost undetectable. This would be good for a setting where scents are banned, like hospitals for example. It would work on a super hot day when most scents become cloying or artificial. It's a woody, unsweet coconut scent that's unisex. I do like it but its a little light for my taste, I'll save it for after the gym.

I really like this fragrance a lot! I have it on my wrists right now. It smells warm, like the color beige. I can feel sandalwood, but it's not in the notes. I do not smell any flowers, or citrus! Just unsweetened coconut, warm wood, and lotion. 100% unisex. I think it's sexy and I would love to smell this on my husband too!

I really like this fragrance. Very subtle. I get about 2 solid hours with 3 sprays. Stays close to the skin, so it’s great for the office or airplanes. Nice option to all these look at me I’m ozony and blue like a picture of the ocean. Base notes are perfectly balanced to not be overly masculine.

This was a blind buy and it did not disappoint. To be honest, I hate the first 30 minutes. It’s a bit too sharp and a tad imbalanced. But after that, the dry down, ohhh creamy soft and lush. Absolutely gorgeous. It’s subtle though. Good everyday scent.

Interesting. A citrus opening that dries into coconut and wet concrete. I really like it! It smells like a spa or a bright sunny day. That coal note is really putting in the work! It reminds me of resort - hot sand, fresh juice, massages and all.

I like this sample, it lasted all day for me. Developed into a creamy floral with a mineral kick-I guess that is the coal note. Great summer fragrance, would purchase a full bottle.

Solar Bloom is like fun in the sun. Warm, radiant, and beachy with citrus, orange blossom, and coconut. There is some underlying woodiness too. I like it!

Little milky orange one trick pony. Smells nice. Absolutely a ‘wait what did I even put on this morning?’ type of perfume.

I was nervous about this scent as I HATE patchouli (there is no distinctive patchouli in here, for those who are concerned). Coal isn't a note I typically go for, vetiver is often incense-y and/or overly masculine on my skin. However, this blend is very nice. It reminds me a lot of Bronze Goddess Eau Fraiche skinscent, which is one of my favorite "signature scents" that I wear alone and/or layer with a lot of other scents. Bronze Goddess (Eau Fraiche, NOT EDP-the EDP is a very different fragrance) on my skin reads as mostly unisex warm sunbaked sandalwood and a touch of coconut and musk. Despite the note difference, this reads extremely similar on my skin. There's a touch of something woody and spicy, almost a bit figgy in the drydown that reminds me of Katy Perry's Indie & Yves Rocher's Voile d'Ocre, which are overall quite different scents from Solar Bloom, but very similar to each other, and are also scents I own backup bottles of. I like Solar Bloom a lot and am tempted to buy a full bottle, but as I already have Bronze Goddess and backups I'm not sure I need to own both. Solar bloom doesn't seem to have the projection and lasting power of the above mentioned scents, it disappeared from my skin almost completely after 3 hours, leaving the faintest of skin scents so I'm going to hold off on purchasing a FB for now. If you like this one, try Bronze Goddess Eau Fraiche. Don't let the "Goddess" part of the name fool you, it's mostly summery beachy sandalwood/driftwood with about as much coconut as Solar Bloom has. if you think Solar Bloom is unisex, then so is BGEF. BGEF is a simplified version of this, layers well, lasts a bit longer on the skin than this, but lasts a LOT longer when you layer it with the right complimentary fragrances.

The word that immediately comes to mind when describing this fragrance is... confusion? Do I love it? Do I hate it? Am I having an existential crisis? I couldn't say. On first spray, it definitely has something unpleasant about it, but for the life of me, I don't know what it is. As it dries down, I am getting some coconut, citrus, and white florals. There's also a green, slightly spicy element that may or may not be patchouli. I don't know what coal smells like, but there's something in the mix that reminds me of dirt and minerals, so make of that what you will. It is a truly baffling collision of the natural and the industrial. It feels like standing in a field of sunflowers on a warm, sunny day, wearing a yellow sundress, surrounded by wind turbines. This makes no sense, as sunflowers smell of NOTHING and the coconut would suggest a tropical location, but it is what my mind conjures. It's not bad, per se, but it's not for me. The woman who wears this bikes everywhere and is probably on her way to a climate protest. I support her, but I can't be her. I WOULD contribute to her ko-fi, tho.

Juicy, succulent mandarin lasts about 5 minutes, then creamy, milky coconut followed by non-descript soapy florals, and finally a bit of patchouli. Which I see now is exactly what the reviewer below me said. I really wish the mandarin lasted a lot longer and the florals weren't that present. If that were the case this would be a winner. I was super excited when I first sprayed this perfume and after 5 minutes I'm a sad sack. 😞 It's not that Solar Bloom is bad, I just wanted mandarin and coconut milk and that's it. I think it's the florals that I dislike the most though....IDK. I wouldn't buy this, but I think if I received it as a gift I would use it up over the course of a few summers. I think I'll save the rest of my sample to test on a really hot summer day to see what happens in high heat. edit: the drydown really reminds me of Ellis Brooklyn MYTH

It’s not bad—but it just doesn’t do anything in particular for me. The scent isn’t exactly noteworthy but it’s not repulsive, and the performance & longevity don’t really do anything for it either. It’s nice enough when you spritz it on but within an hour or two you can barely smell it, sits so close to the skin that you can barely enjoy any of the fresh smell yourself. I will say the note profile is a little bit unique in a nice way, but that really doesn’t say much when it’s not very strong at all. Wouldn’t buy a full bottle for myself. Maybe if you’re looking for something extremely light, barely noticeable, but a little bit different than other fresh scents, it might be the one for you.
