Sweetbriar & Moss

I have sampled most all of the Clean Avant Garden collection and I really like this one! I'm not sure I could identify sweetbrier as a singular fragrance note, but it just translates to slightly sweet florals on my skin. I happen to really like moss scents, so that aspect is a plus in my book. It is woody, but the sweetness, which is not overpowering, tempers that. I think this is one of the few Clean fragrances that doesn't reduce down to one or two notes after dry down, which is a nice divergence. I would call this a safer blind buy than other Clean Avant Garden fragrances, some of which really need to be tested first. It is also what I would consider to be more feminine than other fragrances from Clean, because of the slightly sweet florals, so keep that in mind.

Imagine an Amazonian goddess doing yoga/meditating in the forest. Thats exactly what this smells like. I was out shopping with my daughter a few minutes before the mall closed and decided to breeze in Bloomingdales near the fragrance counter. I tried a few of the other scents from the Reserve line before I sprayed this. Its been almost 3 hours and I can’t stop sniffing my arm! It is nice and earthy but not grassy, it has a woody scent that is very comforting and the moss makes it smell like a wet wood on my skin. This is a unisex fragrance done perfectly and I could see this becoming someone’s everyday scent. My husband smelled this on me and he liked it as well. I won’t say its a must have but if you need something to balance your collection, get this!

Oh, I love oakmoss in this. It has such a nice retro vibe to it. Gorgeous. This fragrance is a distant cousin of Coriandre by Jean Couturier in the drydown. It is basically what I wanted Gypsy Water to be. It has a very hippie vibe but in a refined way. This is what you would smell on someone with an expensive boho taste. I only wish the longevity and sillage were a little better. On me, it stays a skin scent. I will not upgrade to a full bottle.

Avant garden collection from clean...you seem to amaze me again and again... It ́s as if they seem to be better and better as they arrive. Love this one This is a woody , comforting, peppery and flowery scent. The cedar is the most prominent note in my nose. Oakmoss, amber and cashmere wood. Velvety and soothing on the skin. Lasting power and silage is above average on me. Smells like mother earth in a very plesant way. I definetly recommend.

Wow! This was a blind buy, and while it wasnt exactly what i expected (are they ever?) it is amazing! Soft, old english pink roses, kissed with dew. A very subtle hint of pepper. Then oakmoss. So much deliciously rich, cool, damp oakmoss! I feel like Ive rolled through a hidden moss forest after a stroll through a rose garden. A mossy gem.

I blind bought this for a good deal, and honestly I love it. It's woody and clean, kind of like a just sharpened pencil. I know that might not be appealing for some, but if you like the smell of freshly cut wood, this might be up your alley. It's not overly floral, and it hangs out well enough to enjoy.

Citrus floral opening, hints of sweetness and a cozy woody base. I don't get that much moss, this smells clean and light and a tiny bit earthy but it mainly gives off a fresh green vibe. Imo, it smells very expensive. Unisex, versatile and unique.

The only complaint I have against this perfume is it is too intimate. If this scent were amped up, it would easily be my must-have. It is very clean, very meditative and refreshing to sniff. If you want an oak moss scent that is fresh, foresty, and earthy, look no further! This is one of the best rain in the forest scents I've come across. That said, it becomes skin scent immediately. I normally don't mind scents that are close to the skin, but at this price point, I'd expect some sillage for the first half an hour at the very least. This has none of it. That said, it is among the best oak moss fragrances I've smelt. The other one I can immediately think of is Rewind 1984 (it's a niche brand from Thailand which is extremely hard to source.) Expensive. Slightly overpriced, but still acceptable as it is unique.

This is not what I was expecting. It smells quite masculine and there is no sweetness. It mainly has an English rose, strong green, and woods accord. This could be well suited for a professional setting and someone who prefers masculine-type scents.

For someone who loves to blind buy like me, this is a total disappointment. On my skin, I get no sweet elements at all, just mossy smell. Although the notes are nowhere near the same, you get similar but weaker Rose 31 opening smell, which stays all the way through until the fragrance wears off. Moderate logetivity, but the sillage is non-existence; don't know how anyone can get enormous silage with this. While the eco-friendly concept is a nice gimmick, this is way overpriced and definitely not recommended.

This is one of the cleanest, slightly sweet and dapper frag. I've ever whiffed. Definitely unisex. The sweet is very underwhelming. Barely noticeable. I can't believe how long it lasts for a citrus frag. Gentlemen don't pass on this, It's worth at least a samples worth.....;) P.S. Perfect for a certain type of woman. Not a sweet girly frag.

very nice, very similar to nagel's myrrh eglantine without the heavy myrrh. i might like this better. if you've been eyeing the hermessence but don't want to spend the money, give this a try. lovely lovely sweetbriar/eglantine note over a slightly powdery and faintly earthy base. i'd be interested to know who the perfumer is for this one.

I enjoy the Clean Reserve offerings. This fragrance is light, happy, woodsy, natural, clean and green. It also lasts. Very pretty and great for daily wear. Easily Unisex. Rates 7 out of 10 Hint: Sweetbriar is an old world rose. It does not smell either sweet or like a rose, though. It smells somewhat like an apple.

It smells like Irish Spring. The original Irish spring. Great if you are looking for a good quality eau de parfum version of that, otherwise you’ll be disappointed as it’s completely masculine. Unless you’re a woman who wants to smell like Irish spring.
