Aromatics in Black

It was a blindbuy.a very risky one.the word "green scent" in other reviews freaked me out and I dislike any leafy note in perfumes,I thought it's going to be unisex or even masculine and I was afraid of it's vetiver note.still I couldn't wait to try it.It was one of my best blindbuys as we have a masterpiece here! it's nothing like my imaginations,it's totally feminine and while being sophisticated enough for adults,it's not overly serious,there's something very charming and seductive here. If it didn't come in a black bottle I wouldn't think of the color black when I smell it but now I don't find it's name and color too much irrelevent,white florals appear in a darkish naughty way here but if you need leather,masculine woods,animalic notes or lots of smoke to think of a black scent,you'll find it irrelevent to the word "black" When I first sprayed it an almost Alien-ish jasmine and something sweet and almost jammy fruity similar to a mix of apricot ,some plum and something like clementine? were the first things that came to my mind After a while it's sweetness mellows and most of it's fruity undertone is replaced by soft creamy florals.I can really detect jasmine,osmanthus and something like orange flower.so this is a real floral scent but I don't find it's flowers old or heavy.Clinique Aromatics in Black's floral accord is devine and gorgeous,well balanced by sweet,sparkly fruits,vetiver's green,earthy undertone,powder(something like a non-gourmand vanilla powder) and slightly smokey myrrh (on my skin,vetiver and myrrh show up in drydown)so it opens as a delicious,slightly spicy,balmy floralfruity,settles down to a creamy,slightly powdery floral-vanilla and dries down to a slightly smokey,slightly earthy woodyfloral There's a lot going on here.it's far from a simple,boring and generic perfume but it's so well put together that it's complexity doesn't feel too much Sometimes it reminds me Ted Lapidus White Soul,a complex yet easy to wear blend of creamy florals,resineous,smokey notes(in TLWS we have labdanum,amber and benzoin instead of myrrh and tonka)sweet fruits and powder.not that they're dupes but it's the closest thing that comes to my mind Lets come back to Aromatics in Black.I don't have the famous classic,Aromatics Elixir so I can't compare them but I have Aromatics in White,which I like but don't love as much as the black one,and to my nose,these two have nothing in common.just that they're both well done and high quality Clinique is one of my favorite skincare brands but TBH I didn't expect to find such an awesome perfume in this brand.it can compete and easily beat my favorite Diors,Chanels and Yvessaintlaurents. I was so lucky to find an absolute love in a blindbuy.it will have a place among my top thirty favorites I agree that it's a cold weather perfume,wearable in both days and nights (mostly nights).It lasts +7 hours on my skin and while not being very heavy,has decent sillage.it's a new member of my collection but I've already received a few compliments on it.my husbands called it a bit fruity,all in all better sister of Alien Essence Absolue and our local drugstore's pharmacist told me:your perfume is amazing.very deep and sexy and she asked it's name to buy it for herself I even love it's simple yet elegant bottle I bought a 3.4 oz bottle for 100$ which was a good deal comparing to other perfume shops.so yes,it's expensive here but it worthes every penny 9.75/10 I would give it a 10 if it was a bit cheaper and if it's vetiver was toned down a bit or was replaced by some other kind of woodyness for example cashmere wood Highly recommended

Aromatics in Black, you are exactly what I didn't know I needed while being everything I hoped! You open with a tangy albeit brief burst of sparkly citrus (grapefruit/bergamot) before settling quickly into the most subtle jammy sweet note of plum and barely detectable blackcurrent. Don't be fooled, the jamminess is not toothache or confection sweet, rather the natural sweetness of warm unpressed fruit skins. This subtle sweetness is nestled in a balsamic resinous bed of tonka and myrrh just as the delicate white flowers emerge. Within an hour the fruit has dissipated leaving the masculine leaning vetiver supporting the fragile feminine jasmine and osmanthus all within a comforting resinous cushion. This most definitely is an oriental but without the heavy floral bomb often associated with that classification. It feels like the most natural progression of scent profiles. It is also decidedly feminine tho leans unisex. I find it very similar to Dior Dune (which i cherish and wear ever so sparingly) in that it has an atypical floral profile (albeit without the ozonics of Dune). It is grounded and grounding, most definitely a cozy cooler weather fragrance with a low to moderate silage, it wont offend the nose of others within close range. It has moderately good longevity, still detectable (only just) >5 hours after application. Note, this isn't ground-breaking, innovative or unique - nor is it boring. It's just different enough to be worthy of closer consideration. This flanker is entirely consistent with most Clinique offerings in quality and I suggest gives good value for cost. It isn't nearly as complex as the Original Aromatics nor as heavy a powder bomb as Aromatics White but will still easily become a daily staple for this frag-head.

Aromatics in Black reminds me of my all time favorite Samsara, and just a hint of Venezia. Now, for explanation: these fragrances do not have a close resemblance, they are easily distinguishable. Aromatics does not have Samsara's sandlewood, nor Venezia's sweeter notes. It is instead more spicy than both those perfumes. So, why does it remind me of them? It has this deep richness, creamy and powdery components. Maybe the vetiver in combination with myrrh and tonka bean does that for me. And then of course there's a bunch of other ingredients they have in common. It especially happens, when I apply AiB from a little distance, so it travels a short distance through the air before it settles on my skin or hair. I then get the same poudery softness halfway up my throat towards my nose I get from Samsara, especially the original version. It sits there and carresses my senses, even though there's apparently no sandlewood. I love that sensation, it is part of why Samsara is my all time favorite. On top of that I get a tad more sweetness - plumy sweetness - from AiB and I think that reminds me of Venezia. Sillage and Longevity are moderate, even on clothes and hair. Tonka Bean and osmanthus are among the notes that stick the longest, plus something else that I can't quite make out. Might be the bergamot, although the heady notes are usually more fleeting. Anyways, this is a big love of mine. I like wearing it in cooler weather, no matter what time of day or when I want to get snugly in my living room. I just wish it performed a little better, especially given its original price. Still think this is one of the best currently available perfumes out there!

A soft balsamic perfume with full on jasmine, osmanthus and neroli on top of myrrh. If for some reason Aromatics Elixir is too...difficult to handle, you can try the Aromatics in Black and the Aromatics in White flanker. I find that they both are quite similar in terms of intensity, both balsamic but different scents. Aromatics in Black Cherry though is not lighter than Aromatics Elixir at all, so beware; test before. Opens disgustingly,unbearable to the nose. But be patient. It softens as time passes and becomes a full on jasmine-neroli with quite a prominent vetiver. Tonka does not add any serious sweetness, it is just enough. Myrrh is not overwhelming, so anyone who would want to wear a myrrh perfume and is hesitant because most of them are heavy, give Aromatics in Black a shot. Slightly green and sour. Once it fully develops and settles on the skin, it's a rather soothing, mysterious, hypnotising and a wrist cracker perfume, mainly because of the jasmine-neroli combination, fleshy at times. Strong, oily and sensual. Doesn't remind me anything from the contemporary creations but it doesn't mean that it's an old type of perfume. In the drydown you will basically have wafts of a safe meaty jasmine, an enchanting myrrh and hints of a detergent neroli. The overall blend is very balanced though. Lasted up to six hours on skin; a fair time in my opinion. Sillage is arm's length. The more it warms up on the skin the better it will project. A yes from me.

I have been wearing this for a week now and LOVE it. Reviews, here and elsewhere, have given lukewarm accolades to this one, and I'm bewildered. Perhaps it is because I am a sucker for warm, resinous scents, so there is bias here. Black opens with a quick burst of a thick plummy-fruity note that is quite enjoyable. This passes after about 5 minutes when the spice and resin warms up and surfaces. The duration of the scent is a well-balanced, slightly sweet, slightly powdery blend of flower and balsamic notes. I like Clinique's Aromatics Elixir and Estee's Youth Dew but find them too powerful for me to wear, but Aromatics Black wears like I wish the others did. I even ventured 2 sprays in the crook of each elbow and wore it to work. My trusted co-worker could not pick up on it in our shared cubicle space, but later, she commented, "Something smells good." I had just walked by, so I'd like to think it was me :) Projection: within your personal bubble with 2 sprays Longevity: 7+ hours with nice wafts Wear: for the woman who doesn't always want to smell like flowers or likes a bit of complexity to her scent

I really had no idea of what to expect of this fragrance as comments have been so diverse. It is very nice and an easy to wear fragrance. I love the osmanthus fragrance and there is plenty of it here. Nice combination of fruit and a strong jasmine note act to bolster the normally fleeting osmanthus note. Theyve really cracked it. I do get the myrhh and it does a fine job of extending the longevity. It grounds the fragrance with its non sweet smokiness. Sans myrhh might have lead to a cloying and over sweet creation. I am baffled by the "black" title. Its not black at all. Maybe the myrhh is supposed to be the "black" element?! Its not a weak or overly strong fragrance. I totally agree about it being aromatic. There is something very verdant about it as well which I will put down to the vetiver. I feel as if I have just walked into one of Kew Gardens greenhouses and hit with the smell of various aromatic foliage and fragrant tropical flowers. Id feel happiest wearing this on a summers evening. Moderate sillage and good longevity. A thumbs up from me.

Update: Aromatics in Black, I remember I bought this fragrance more than a year ago. First I didn't like it at all, but when it settled down I went back to the shop and bought it immediately!! but back then I didn't use it that much! So at the beginning of this winter, I lined up all the heavy-wintery fragrances (like Addict-Dior, Van Cleef, and others) that I would like to use during these cold months and again AB wasn't included. So once I tried it for no reason, aaaaaand I stayed confused during its life-cycle, I was like did I spray Dior-Addict on myself, I'm smelling Dior-addict!!, a boozy- vanilla floral (white flowers to be more precise), a dark yet comforting scent, really classy, sensuous, and at the same time has a vintage vibe. It reminds me of a bunch of fragrances the ones I've mentioned above (Dior-addict and Van Cleef) are nearly identical, the other ones were Tresor by Lancome which shares the same sharpness of its floral notes, and finally Alien with its Jasmine, and more precisely Alien Essence Absolue. A Great Journey,, Love.

I am having a rare experience with Aromatics in Black. It's like I can smell a color and texture, and this is deep velvety purple. Silky, darkly sweet, a smoky plum with a twist of a dry herbal or woody edge. This is resting on a bed of rich liquid resiny sweetness and buttery florals- jasmine and osmanthus are in tandem but not loud in any way. To my nose this is a perfect blend and one of the best of its type that I've smelled. It is so rich that I have to be in a certain mood to wear it. It reminds me of (but doesn't smell like) Dior Poison for its dark purple vibe, Dior Addict for its warm sweet richness, and Alien for its other-worldly jasmine/amber and just a twist of something you can't explain. Though its character reminds me of these, it is softer. My family instantly commented on how beautiful this is. I am so impressed! So there you have it. It is a real beauty and I feel lucky to have found it. - P.s. Fragrantica, who is the nose?

A low key stunner! Opens quite harshly, very strong and sweet, but give it some time and it will soften into the most beautiful, gentle resinous floral. Very cozy, perfect for cooler days while wearing your favorite sweater, a deeper, darker perfume, but actually not too melancholy. It also has a fizzy soft drink undertone (I'd call it 'Coca cola', but I find the comparison too generic), perhaps a little bit artificial, but endearing nonetheless. I have to say I cannot relate to the comments about scarce longevity. I have sprayed once on my forearm some 6 hours ago, showered in the meantime and I can still smell it (as a comparison, I had a Puredistance on one wrist and an Oriza Legrand on the other and I can very faintly still smell the Legrand - no trace left of the Puredistance). But perhaps I came across a lucky batch! For the price point and if you like this kind of autumn - cozy - perfumey fragrances, I would say this is a winner.

Update from review on May 24, 2017: This was the date I gave my first review of Aromatics In Black, where I said it reminds me of Hypnotic Poison by Dior. Not at all. This scent and Mugler's Alien (purple bottle) smell quite a bit alike. Both have that plum accord at the top and an incense-y middle; however, I think Mugler Alien has a bit more bite (in a good way) and better longevity than AIB, which tends to fade away around 2-3 hours or so. I bought a whole AIB gift set from Amazon that had a small tubes of body wash and body lotion and a 3.4 oz size of AIB perfume. I bought my original bottle of AIB in 2017 and I've used it here and there and I love the scent. It's now 2024 and I haven't worn it lately since it's been sitting in the dark in my bathroom, so it's had time to macerate awhile. Hopefully when I do wear it it will have settled into a smoky, sexy fragrance that will last as long as Mugler's Alien.

This perfume was a pleasant surprise. I bought it for the lovely top and middle notes, especially the osmanthus. I was expecting that it would last maybe 3 to 4 hours. Well, at 6 hours I could still smell it, and this morning, after more than 18 hours I could still detect the myrrh note on my arm (with maybe a touch of vanilla). I am quite thrilled with that because it turns out that I am a myrrh fan. of course, at this point I could only sense it very close to the skin, but still, I did not expect the longevity. This is going to be a great scent for fall through early spring. Added on June 24, 2016: I tried layering this over Aromatics Elixir. One spray of AE, followed by one spray of Aromatics in Black. I think it is great. Tomes down the harsher components of AE, but lengthens wear. To my nose it is a seamless mix.

Well!! This scent is really confusing, first of the beginning: I didn't like it at all, then at the second stage the scent starts to remind me of a kind of soap I usually find at some hotels which composes from the “myrhh’ note mixed with some jasmine, and finally, the dry down is the part that I enjoy the most: heavy, deep, bold, mysterious, unique, and sensual! In the beginning, I didn’t like it! But it has grown on me, and now I really respect this piece of art, I can say I’m so satisfied, and happy to have it! A fact about Clinique fragrances: “they need time”, they can easily make me jump from: disslike==> to like==> and sometimes to love!!

I have come to terms with the fact that I cannot describe this perfume else wise but as a preacher. There is a very warm, living heart at the bottom but the exterior is sharp, thorny and bitter - which I love. If it was a lover, you would seek comfort and consolation in its insolence. You know she meant every word, and you faithfully accept it, for that's all the love she's ever known. This perfume is not for the faint of heart; not everyone is capable of handling such beauty and such nuanced boldness at the same time.

I like this a lot. Bought it the other day at the local Clinique counter ! It's warm , resinous and sweet,,,it's a soft creamy and very likeable. I prefer it to the white as the black one is just more oriental and warm . It has a soapy smell to it like a fruity soapy smell. The white also smells like soap , but more rosy and sharper in my option. Both are nice , have to go back soon and test white again but for now loving the black ! The black bottle is sleek, simple and beautiful ! I like genny17 s review!

im sure the others described it a lot better than i would, but take my advice: layer this one with Oriflame's Power Women Edt and the longevity and sillage will be doubled in a gentle way. Power gonna soften the Aromatics in Black in a way making it possible to wear it in daytime and at an office environment for example; and in turn, Aromatics in Black will turn Power edt into something actually useful lol. these two complements each other perfectly in my opinion. the content is similar anyways;)

I finally gave in and purchased Aromatics in Black after smelling it now and then when I could find a tester. It opens with a beautiful aromatic citrus/ plum opening. The jasmine note is more prominent in warm weather (which I love) but this doesn't last. I detect the myrrh/ vetiver/ tonka drydown which is comforting and soo lovely. I wish the longevity was better however. To me it smells more oriental than what I usually wear. I'm really enjoying this... and the bottle is gorgeous!

To me this is everything Bvlgari Black and Jasmin Noir failed to be. It is more like Jasmin Noir. It is stronger and longer lasting. At first, it doesn't remind me of either of them, however after half an hour, I get similarities to Jasmin Noir. After an hour it turns musky and has a slight similarity to aromatics White. Has no similarity whatsoever to the original Aromatics Elixir. This will replace my Bvlgari black and Jasmin Noir, which I am currently selling Decants of on ebay.

by far, one of the best perfume from Clinique. deep, rich sweet, creamy, flowery and bit smoky. it elegance,sexy,sophisticated and professional. i can say, smell like tiramisu ice cream cake which i do love. perfect for formal dinner, meeting, office-work and valentine day. it last 6-7hours. Clinique comes out with another level of fragrance which is i have to appreciate their effort. smoky glass is created definitely protecting the liquid from the sun. clever-good job.

This perfume has literally everything I asked for! It's seductive, mysterious, bold yet modern and elegant. Energetic plums and heart-warming Italian bergamot takes attention and makes an unforgettable impression. P.S. I think Aromatics in Black is more attractive than Aromatics in White. Longevity - 9/10(8+ hours) Silage/Projection - 9/10 Weather - best in Winter/Autumn Age - 20+ Scent - 10/10 Price/Performance - 10/10

Testing this today, I find Aromatics in Black to be creamy, sensuous and sweetly-spiced: a balance of masculine/feminine with a hint of something gourmand; the overall effect being really pleasant. I'm reminded of the fresh floral-spicy style of Versace Crystal Noir, but without the odd drydown that happens on my skin with VCN. Aromatics in Black gets a thumbs up from me!

Often spicy jasmine scents are syrupy sweet but this is arid, yes there is the sweetness of plums but it is not like plum jam it is fresh and the wood is dry and smoky like wood burning in a fire. The vanilla tonka dry down is soft and comforting but the spice lingers making it a grown up scent. I don’t like AE or Aromatics in White but this is beautiful.

Harsh citrus opening which quickly morphs into a sensual purple-smelling floral with herbaceous notes punctuating. Dries down to a noticeable amber, with a hint of oud or something like it. Love this intriguing elixir! Update: performance is VERY poor; I can only get more than 30 minutes out of it by spraying TONS of it in my hair. Won't be repurchasing.

Today I wore the other beauty, Aromatics Cherry Black and suddenly had a strange idea ... I layered it with Aromatics in Black What came out is the perfect perfume for evening - a dark, gothic fragrance to follow me through the hours of darkness ... until the sun rises again Never thought they match so perfectly together! Great job

The notes are great, only after the first 5 minutes undefinable loud blast, comes a beautiful phase with flowers, myrrh and olive leaves which lasts exactly 30 minutes on my skin. The drydown is longer but a skinscent of sweet vanilla. Nothing interesting. Such a pitty! I had big hopes seeing the notes.

One of my all time favourites. I am sad that it is discontinued in Canada, I search once a month at my local perfumeries to see if they have it in stock by fluke. I have maybe .5ml left in a 5ml bottle that I am saving for my wedding. Edit: I found some at Winners! Life is good!

The two Aromatics flankers, white and black are both fantastic. The Black offering is beautiful, appropriately named, the beginning is ultra fruity, blackcurrant and berries, but as it dries down I get the Myrhh and Vetiver. The bottle itself is beautiful, such high quality.

It's like a soft black cashmere sweater... Love it! Although Clinique isn't a brand which outshines with its perfumes, I have to say that both Black and White aromatics are very successful.

This is fantastic for who loves herbal, aromatic and sweet scents. If you like sharp-smooth type of fragrances this has the perfect balance. It’s refined and classy!

My 19 year old daughter said this perfume smells what she imagines Jareth (David Bowie) in Labyrinth smells like. That's probably my favorite perfume review ever.

Clinique has certainly found refuge in my heart as being a supplier of unforgettable scents. Even if some seemed ahead of their time, others defined it. Happy, for instance, took part in defining the upcoming millennium with bold uncompromising optimism. Calyx blew open the doors for a future full of gluttonous gourmands. And Aromatics Elixir redefined gender rolls with an arguably masculine herbal chypre, marketed for women ready to embrace the strength of equality. Speaking to the latter's remarkably wonderful, and genuinely unapproachable iconic status, I was understandably hesitant in acknowledging two new (semi)flankers. Let's be honest, the industry has gotten so astray with flanker scents, that it's hard not to become dizzy from the spinning wheel of capitalism. Extraordinary scents are being dragged down ever thinning trails promising the next "great" thing. No one ever said you could please everyone, but perfume companies are hell bent on trying. Ultimately, the sense of generic apathy smothers any enthusiasm, and no one ends feeling well for it. Despite the odds stacked against success, misgivings soon subsided with the first soft spray of Aromatics in White, and I knew then I would soon be here to discuss its sibling. Aromatics in Black does not disappoint. Although notes listed imply a radiance within, I found it otherwise. Like its predecessors, the opening commands attention, setting the scene soon to be played out. And since the opening causes such division, it seems completely appropriate to start there. Myrrh and vetiver form an earthy dustiness, like strolling through the desert at night. An open abyss of stars above begin to absorb radiating heat from below. Gentle breezes stir the fever nestled in the sand, and sensually suggestive jasmine and osmanthus begin to sift the soil into a fine talc - resin resting along every surface exposed to this elemental shift. As dark chords of night consume solar perfusion, bright points of grapefruit and bergamot punctuate the sky, offering their citric luminosity. Each bright tone refracting just enough to define dark spaces; caressing free outlines among the night's horizon. Fruitful blossoms of orange and plum offer a warm subtle sweetness, and brief respite from the approaching nocturnal chill frosting the barren landscape. I but the passenger, slink back in surrender, while a peaceful powderiness confines what is left my adventure.

Like Jae, I was first introduced to Aromatics in Black courtesy of the lovely Anamandy. I was intrigued enough to purchase a full bottle given how inexpensive it is, and wore it once or twice while the weather was still warm. I liked it, but it got pushed towards the back of my collection as new fragrances found their ways onto my shelves. I am wearing her today, full throttle, and very happy with how I smell!! The initial grapefruit note is a bit jarring to me, but it quickly recedes and blends in, providing a spot of unexpected brightness in a fragrance labeled "in Black"! This is all about myrrh and jasmine on my skin, and I love that as they are two of my favorite notes. The other players, especially the osmanthus and Tonka are detectable, lending a smidgen of apricot-like fruit from the former, and rich depth from the latter. I think it provides a nice tension between light and dark, depth and airiness, and floral delicacy with mysterious resins! I'm very happy to have taken her out for her first full test drive. The weather definitely made a difference! I'm toying with layering it with a spritz of Narciso Poudre at some point, but for today, she stands alone. Well done, and in my opinion a fairly safe blind buy as it manages to stand out without being too demanding.

The second fragrance I'm reviewing tonight that was recommended to me by Anamandy! Thank you again. I am a huge fan of the original Aromatics Elixir, but hadn't tried any of the flankers. This one enchanted me immediately. The progression is so clear and intriguing. First, there's a crisp, cool greenness of osmanthus, whose tart qualities pair perfectly with the plum in all its juicy sweetness and with the acidic grapefruit up top. Then, there's some delicate spice, as well as a really light, pretty jasmine to round it out. The plum gets deeper and darker, and then we transition to the tonka and myrrh, which respectively bring a nice pungent powder and a deliciously soapy resin. It's not listed among the notes, but I swear that I can smell the ghost of patchouli here. That may just be me fondly remembering the original, though. All in all, Aromatics in Black is fun but contemplative, expansive but sincere. She's the friend who gets along with everybody, but never lets you forget that you're her best friend, in her quiet, mischievous way. This needs warm body heat and ambient chill to bloom and project properly. Otherwise, versatile in terms of occasion and ambiance. A very pleasant surprise.

I've been testing this one almost for two months now and I just can't wrap my mind (or my sense of smell) around it. The notes sound perfect, I like the very initial spritz of it, but then the more it settles and develops the less I like it. It's becoming sweeter and sweeter the more it lingers. I don't know what it is, maybe it's myrrh or maybe osmanthus, but there is something so obnoxiously sweet about this scent, that it's kinda difficult to tolerate after a while even for a gourmand lover like me. Not syrupy type of sweet, but more like resinous incensy overly sweet scent. I don't sense much in terms of green notes here, like somebody who compared it in their reviews to CK Truth. To me it's just resinous and suffocatingly sweet.

I bought this because its been compared to dior fragrances and I've had a few and loved them. I only buy them occasionally though because of the price. I love the dark glass bottle here and I do think this is a dark perfume. Heavy, heady, long lasting, yes medicinal, but still recognisable as a perfume. This does last and yes I do understand the slight comparison to hypnotic poison. This isn't the cheapest out there, but I will re buy it when I fancy it. I was initially put off clinique fragrances as happy is the first ever perfume that I tried that hated me. It smelt truly vile, like cat urine, which is a shame as I've complimented so many others when they've worn it. Thank you clinique for creating something I can wear

Fragrantica has been a life saver for me through rough times I love this site and thank you Swap buddie for this fragrance. What a change from the original Aromatics Elixir. Also a huge difference from Aromatics in white. I adore all three I have had the original for many years. White is a gorgeous patchouli and Black is a gorgeous warm and fuzzy comfort scent. When I sprayed it at first I could not pinpoint the scent it reminded me of. Then I read some of the reviews below and I do agree it smells a lot like Dior Addict. Not a dupe but it's got the same vibe. A very comfortable relaxing and sexy fragrance.

I have this and the white version and of course, the original. These scents are like aromatherapy for me and maybe that's what Clinique was aiming for when they named this line Elixir. According to Webster's dictionary "an elixir is a magical or medicinal potion" as in "an elixir guaranteed to induce love." Well, if that was Clinique's intention, they've certainly succeeded, because these latest flankers have become instant loves for me.

Fruit and licorice. This does not feel like a "black" scent at all. In fact it is quite delicate--not at all the powerful scent I was imagining. Still, I find myself liking it. It smells vaguely like Hypnotic Poison on my skin and has decent projection and sillage. This is not going to win any awards for originality but is likely to inspire compliments, especially in the softened, skin-close drydown phase.

Smells really good but the sillage and longevity is really poor unfortunately. The White version even more so. The only one I think is worth the money is the AE OG. Edit: After leaving it to macerate for nearly 12 months I’ve tried again and wow, such a beautiful scent. I’m yet to see how long it lasts on my skin but the fume is amazing. A grown up, sexy and seductive offering and just divine.

This one is pleasant and useable both day and night, work and free time. It is special. I like the sleek design of the bottle very much, it's so elegant and classy. I cant decide whether I want this or not, if it's a like or a love. But it surely appeals to me, and I find it a very unique and good scent. I usually dont like jasmin much, but this perfume is my kind of jasmin.

this starts off quite lovely. i think i get mostly plum, grapefruit and tonka. it reminds me of something i can't quite place, though it gives me a similar feeling to natori perfume but is subtler and not so floral. after being on the skin a bit, the myrrh and osmanthus come through deepening things. on me, the highlights definitely seem to be plum, tonka and florals.

Crisp green opening. The jasmine and Tonka stay on into the middle and the fragrance dries into a soft cloud of creamy, spiciness. It is nice for casual wear, possibly even good for wearing to work. Its different but quite likeable. Longevity and projection are moderate, though on clothes it lasts a long time. Great blind buy! Really enjoying it.

Aw, I really wish the opening worked for me, as I LOVE the resinous, slightly soapy drydown. My impression is the same as hobbygal below. I am not familier with osmanthus, could that be the note that bothers me? Whatever rubs me the wrong way lasts a good hour before slowly fading away, but what I am left with afterwards is utterly gorgeous!!

Ends up smelling like Dior Addict for sure. It is nice sweet fruity floral. I really love the white version. This one does not smell dark, more of a deep pink or purple. Although it could if they tweak the ingredients alittle towards the neighborhood of Tom Fords Black Orchid. This ones too powdery and sweet to be "black".

This is attractive. Not dark. Not similar to Aromatics Elixir at all. Not sweet or spicy. It is a clean floral that reminded me (too much) of Calvin Klein's Truth. Or even Estee Lauder's Pleasures Intense. Yes, a touch of Alien is ther too somehow. So, it's all good, but not original. GREAT bottle ha.
