Clinique Happy

My first ever perfume! So naturally Happy holds a special place in my heart. Super clean and fresh! Perhaps a bit too clean. A lot of people compare this to cleaning products which it can be a bit with the initial spritzes and even subtly in the dry down but it is mostly citrus, florals and clean musk. I will say the "clean" factor isn't like choking aldehydes clean which I am happy about. I don't mind aldehydes but too much of it is just sensory overload for me and headache-inducing. It's primarily a burst of citrus fruits that develops into a bouquet of florals and then settles into floral/clean musk. I was honestly surprised as I thought it was just citrus scented cleaner but there's more depth to Happy than people like to give it credit for; that being said I do wish it wasn't SO heavy on the citrus overload.. And in spite of all of that I still reach of Happy quite a bit. It DOES make me happy when I spray it so it's doing something right! Idk it just takes me back to the late 90s/2000s when things were more carefree.. Definitely in my frutiger aero vibe perfumes. If you like green, fresh, citrus and florals you can't go wrong with this. The amber and musk are lingering in the dry down but not overpowering at all so if those worry you don't let it. You're barely going to get any of that at least not to an overpowering degree. P.S. every time I wear this people tell me that I smell like their mom LOL. If you're going for a mom vibe this is definitely a perfume to achieve that but it's still so feminine and beautiful I think it can easily be worn by young women from 20s to 40s. Just a truly versatile perfume.

I first tried this perfume back in 1998 in Selfridges London and I liked how uplifting, sweet and fresh it was. I was enamored more by perfumes like Angel by Mugler back then so I never bought a full bottle until early this year when I saw it on sale online. I really like it and it is my go to whenever I wake up in the morning and want a scent that make me feel HAPPY. It really those represent it’s name well and maybe it’s not for everyone, which is fine. I smell the apples, plums, orange and a nice bouquet of flowers. It works great with my skin chemistry and I keep it in a drawer and have no issue with it changing in how it smells. My bottle had a golden liquid in it and not clear like the picture on this post is showing so maybe that can also explain why some people are having different opinions. The longevity is above average and the sillage is very good in the first hour before it mellows down. It is one of the oldies but goodies and is my second favourite in the Clinique line, the first being Cliniques Aromatics Elixir and the 3rd being Aromatics in white. Living in a country that has only two seasons; rainy and dry season makes you appreciate perfumes differently from when I lived in the UK. So enjoy what works for you and BE HAPPY 😍💜💛.

Vintage Late '90s Playful, Sparkling Orange & Evoked Peony... I remember when this first came out, and I thought it was the most uplifting, sparkly orange scent. When I smell it now, it still has that sparkly orange quality, but it's a lot more floral than I remembered and does hearken back to the late '90s/early 2000s. I could imagine Cameron Diaz wearing this in the film, There's Something About Mary, which also came out in 1998. Just like the film, it's light, playful & fun, with a late '90s/early 2000s vibe. Opens with a sparkling orange, but already the floral tones are there underneath. Grapefruit here adds to the sparkling quality, while mandarin emphasizes the fruity orange tones. As it transitions to the heart, the blend of florals reads like peony to me, although all the individual notes are there. Amber & musk support the citrus florals for average performance for a spring-summer wearing experience. It's a longtime love for me. Enjoy!

This was my first perfume given to me by my grandmother. She gave me a sample size of it and I kept it for many years when I was a teenager. I love to feel like I'm clean, happy, and Bright, which is exactly how this makes me feel. Warm sunshine, confident. Legally Blonde. Feminine and educated. Clean. This will always be on my shelf. Some people say this reminds them of cleaning products, but that's when they smell citrus scents. Whenever I wear this I get compliments. So I think it depends on how it blends with your skin. I love to spray this on one side of my body and spray Elizabeth Arden Green Tea on the other. Such a classy and fresh combo! (Just a note - I have never liked patchouli scents, but I do like some leather scents. If you don't like patchouli, you will probably enjoy citrus scents like this.)
