Peony Picnic

Perfectly pink, fresh, beautifully simple and soft. As a defender of fragrances that are usually deemed “immature” this is one of my favorite perfumes ever. Imagine standing under a blue sky with still cotton candy clouds on a warm bright day and sniffing fresh pink flowers while a breeze blows softly through your hair and against your skin. It’s purely fresh floral for me- maybe with a little hint of sugary red berry. A summery heaven. Not spicy and not powdery. Definitely good for younger ladies but also good for anyone that just loves flirty and playful scents!!! I just wish it had more projection and lasted longer but all good things must come to an end. I would bathe in this.

Fresh, aquatic rose and peony perfume, but by no means subtle. This isn't a dainty little rose water perfume, this is !!!!PINK!!!!. Really cute, fantastically executed for this genre of fragrance, affordable, easily obtainable, can be bought in travel size format... what's not to love? The only drawback is yes, it's basic as all hell but this is a perfect addition to your scent wardrobe if you're in need of a "dumb reach" crowd-pleasing scent. I don't own it (...yet?), but every so often I spritz it on my hand if it's on display and get in the region of 6-7 hours out of it !

I tested and bought this based on the notes and I think it’s beautiful in a simple and feminine way. It’s what I was looking for although I get the hairspray vibe. Signature worthy but I think I’ll try layering with another fragrance to get more complexion from time to time.

i really love this perfume, it’s very clean-like and femenine. I wish it lasted longer though :(, i feel like it’s only perceivable on me within 20 minutes.

Fresh, crispy, tart peony experience. Love the the unexpected zing combined with peonies.

Peony Picnic is just a cheerful little spring baby. She’s very cute. This is not a very complex fragrance; it’s linear, nondescript pink florals and fruits. I don’t get any richness from the vanilla or amber notes that are supposedly in this. It doesn’t last long at all - three hours, tops. It layers well with a few of the other perfumes in my collection, including Hermès’s Un Jardin sur le Nil (the combination is so refreshing and relaxing - it’s the smell of the most perfect sunny spring day by a mountain stream) but even that EDT kicks the absolute snot out of Peony Picnic, both in terms of longevity and sillage. It would be a great gift for a middle school or high school girl. It feels a little juvenile in my collection, but with that said, I don’t regret having it. I’ll use it up, but probably won’t repurchase.

I can appreciate a nice tuberose scent that isn't overpowering or artificial, and Clinique's Happy Peony Picnic fits the bill nicely. The roses and peonies come out strongly on first spritz, quickly dialing back to reveal the strawberries and blackcurrants, eventually drying down to a more subtle scent of warm, sweet spices. So, the spring picnic conceit is apt here. It's still not my keeper of this set, but I would definitely wear it again. It would be perfect for any occasion where you don't want to be overshadowed by a room full of floral centerpieces.

This is a simple, light, straight-ahead floral, perfect for any occasion. It’s sheer and youthful. I mostly smell a light waft of peonies and roses, and none of the other notes particularly stand out. It’s a light springtime fragrance. Longevity is nothing to write home about, so it’s nice that it comes in a travel-ready bottle which is relatively inexpensive. I think the key to these Happy flankers is to spray lightly on your clothing & hair, for better longevity.

this perfume smells like being 9 years old again. to have endless curiosity and to go running through the grass on a hot, sunny day. the initial spray is very tart, i believe it comes from the strawberry note but mixed with the florals it smells a little more raspberry like. it dries down into a bit of a sweet tea scent. i would never buy a full bottle for myself, but it is adorable for young girls/teenagers. very juvenile (but in a good way)!

When I first smelled Peony Picnic, I thought I was smelling Versace Bright Crystal. It really reminds me of that perfume but as it goes along it becomes woodier in the base where Bright Crystal is muskier. I prefer Bright Crystal quite frankly, but Peony Picnic is a nice fruity peony summer perfume. Picking between the 2 you have to decide if you want a musky base or a woody base.

Very simple, feminine, and youthful. The punchy fruitiness is only really present at first spray, and the warm wood/vanilla comes with the dry down. Peony is the "heavy" note throughout. (Using quotes because this is such a light and layerable fragrance.)

a nice, simple floral. it's a great blind buy, for yourself or others - warm but not overwhelming, fresh cut flowers, and a little bit sweet. there's really nothing to say here that others haven't, and sometimes that's okay.

This whole range by clinique is mostly light, pleasant scents, generic, yes, but good. Peony Picnic is really pretty and girly, and I love carrying the small size as a purse spray. Its very cute. - Bhavna Darira Chesan

A very nice rose and peony scent.... a little bit more perfume-y than what a lot of younger people are drawn to nowadays but still very nice. It does dry down sweeter than when you first spray it.

Fresh and soft, clean and smooth, a lovely, crisp peony. This is so wearable and excellent for hot weather. Very, very pretty!

This is very floral and a little sweat. At first it’s a bit strong, but it lightens and levels out after about 10-20 minutes.

Kind of reminds me of a bath and body works scent. I am not sure why, just kind of a generic fruity floral BBW scent.

Rose and peony. Pretty straightforward. Perfect for someone’s first “big girl” perfume.

Sweet light fruity floral, perfect for spring and an easy every day wear. This would be lovely for a girl’s first perfume and it kind of reminds me of Happy in Bloom that I wore in high school. There isn’t anything particularly new or special about this fragrance but I don’t think anyone would find it offensive. Although there is a tiny bit of a hairspray smell that I often get from lily notes so I was surprised not to see that here. I have a sample that I’ll use up but I don’t think I’d spend my money on a full size when there are so many special and unique fragrances out there.

Weak, but it's supposed to be. A good fragrance for freshening up, but don't expect anyone to notice what you're wearing. Almost entirely peony to my nose, with a little passionfruit on the back end. Kind of smells like watered-down air freshener, but it is pretty, in a very simple way. This would be great for layering or as a first scent for a teenager, but I wouldn't personally wear it. I enjoy a lot of simple, linear scents in the same style as this one, but Peony Picnic doesn't do anything for me. It feels like an afterthought from Clinique.

Immediate hairspray association for me!! Sticky salon floor, rollers and dryers and curlers, hot hair, sleek hair oil, and so much hairspray. Pleasant memories of going to get my hair cut with my mom as a kid :) But already know this isn't something I'm going to want to wear– comes across as very young, too

Waahhh this one gave me a headache upon first spray! It's too bad because it smells very nostalgic, like a perfume that came with a Barbie doll, but in a good way?!?

This is very nice, but smells SO familiar to me. It's not overwhelming yet silage is excellent. It strongly reminds me of a better version of Blossom by Jimmy Choo and like the drydown of Flash London Club by Jimmy Choo when the tuberose has faded. Smells very department-store-like and I dont mind that at all. This one is worth the money because it's well made. I prefer it compared to Blossom because the latter becomes obnoxious after awhile on my skin due to the citruses. Its def pink in my mind, very youthful, wore it in 40 degree weather and it blossomed. Also his sister fragrance imo is Perfect Peony by Bath and Body Works, same family but Perfect Peony leans more green due to the green apple in it kinda reminiscent of Daydream/Confetti Daydream which has an intense green sweetness. Update: Its rose at the opening along with the other sweet notes of it (passionfruit, plum that are very sweet notes) it reminds me of Embrace Rose Buds rose notes. Embrace Rose Buds is heavy in a Hot Couture syrupy and spicy way though.

My default floral. A nice cheapie if you want to smell good but don't want to overcomplicate things! Anything in the Clinique My Happy line would be a great starter perfume for a younger girl who wants to get into fragrance but I think a woman of any age could easily pull this off! Simple doesn't mean young or bad! I love the fact that this is a nice fresh floral instead of a powdery floral. It makes it easy to just spray and go without having to worry about giving someone a headache.

Starts out with a strong, sweet rose oil note - then quickly moves to a watery peony, and dry down becomes a dry, woody cedar with softened rose again in the background. You have to love rose and woody notes to enjoy this, as that's the bulk of this fragrance - the peony is very fleeting. I expected more a peony "symphony" of sorts, so I was disappointed. BBW's Perfect Peony EDP is far more beautiful than this (and more peony-focused), IMO.

Tried this on a whim at Ulta, it very much reminds me of Roses de Chloe which I used to own, but at a much better price point. It's a fresh, young rose. Not potpourri, not overly sweet, it's just right. I also like the portability and shape of the bottle, easy to throw in my purse. Well done Clinique, this makes me want to try other flankers in this range next time I'm there.

Not much to say really: generic, been done before, not memorable etc. That's not to say it smells bad, not at all. Just not worth spending money on. Thankfully I got this in a Happy Collection set where I found some other perfumes I like much more: Peace & Jasmine (now discontinued), Lily of the Beach, and Cocoa & Cashmere.

This went from a "nice" on paper,to a "nope" on my skin, to a "hmmmm" at drydown. It's jot super sweet, but enough sweetness for a pleasant clean feeling. I imagine this would be amazing with a vanilla creme scent to replicate that Dove Peony and Cream soap
