C for Men Woody Leather With Oudh Intense

This fragrance is beautiful. It's my favorite cold-season fragrance so far, in a decant that will probably run out quickly once it gets cold outside. It's sweet, round, masculine, and relaxing. After ~6 hours, it remains very round and soothing, smooth and sweet. In terms of notes, "Woody Leather With Oudh Intense" is spot-on naming. It performed well on a summer day in the high 80s, but this is a prototypical cold weather fragrance theme. My lady says she likes it. The problem of course is that Clive Christian offerings are extortionately priced. This is the most expensive thing on my "would buy if money and space were not constrained" shortlist. I've been on vacations that were cheaper than 100 mL of this at list price. I expect to evaluate decants of a pretty comprehensive set of sweet woody winter challengers before paying for a full bottle of this fragrance. If you have to work for money, even a normally expensive bottle of niche perfume will save you noticeable money compared to this one. In case it helps, here's my current shortlist of such cold-season challengers that I haven't yet tried: Parfums de Marly Herod, several Tom Fords (Tuscan Leather, Ombré Leather, Tobacco Vanille, Oud Wood), Acqua di Parma Leather, and Mizensir Perfect Oud. [23 Oct 2023 EDIT] I evaluated most of those challengers and a couple besides, in case relationships to other fragrances helps orient you. I ultimately committed to a full bottle of Omanluxury Angham. The two closest runners up to Angham were C Woody Leather and Tom Ford Ombré Leather. I'd be thrilled to have either of these in that signature slot if Angham weren't available. I find Ombré Leather, in particular, a banger value for how good it smells. A couple fragrances with a more French compositional aesthetic are Nicolaï Baïkal Leather Intense and Mizensir Perfect Oud. Two more that are beautifully made but sweeter than ideal for me are Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and Parfums de Marly Herod. I happily throw on these four for variety. Finally, two leathers which are too musty-harsh for me are Parfums de Marly Godolphin and Tom Ford Tuscan Leather. The last of these gives me a bit of nausea; it's the only one of the nine decants mentioned that I really don't use.

For the longest time I boycotted Clive Christian passing it off as a brand that focused more on it’s prestige packaging, marketing itself as the “most expensive fragrance in the world” for want of originality or producing any fragrances that would justify the asking price. Well, I can say this was an unfair assumption. I have spent a lot of time with the brand over the past few weeks and have been blown away by the creativity and craftsmanship in a number of the fragrances. C Woody Leather is one of the fragrances that really stood out to me. The fragrance is often compared to TF’s Tuscan Leather, and I get the comparison here. But, to my nose C is in a completely other league. It’s smoother and more complex than Tuscan Leather. The addition of a mild oud, tonka and tobacco perfectly balance the leather accord used and at no point do any of these notes compete against each other. They are all harmoniously balanced. C Woody Leather is undeniably a masterpiece. A black-tie fragrance that epitomises understated luxury and quiet confidence. I have no issues with performance. I get all day longevity and a moderate sillage. This one really deserves more praise, and if you haven’t explored this (or any of the other Clive Christian fragrances) I highly recommend that you do. #1175 in my "Tour de Fragrance" It's rare these days when I find a scent and don't immediately think, "I have ten bottles of stuff just like this." This sure as hell ain't no tutti fruity Tuscan Leather, Godolphin or La Yuqawam. What are you guys even smelling? I have nothing like this. I suspect in this case the "oriental notes" is hiding some frankincense, as otherwise it would be in the same ballpark with my Dunhill "Icon Absolute," Swiss Arabian "Nawaf", Afnan "Edict Ouddiction" John Varvatos "Oud", Scentologia "Dark Opulence", YSL "Cuir." Unfortunately this is a Clive Christian that Milestone Perfumes hasn't chosen to clone, so if I want it, it's like making a car payment. I'm meeting a breathtakingly beautiful young woman for coffee in an hour. If she loves this stuff as much as I do, I am doomed to buy this very not versatile scent that you would never wear in a car pool, elevator or tight office space and can only wear in colder weather with Summer just weeks away. No other consideration would motivate me to ever again pay over $180 for a scent. UPDATE: When a woman, one so beautiful and sexy she becomes painful to look at, says, "What is that? You smell amazing!", you suck it up and order a bottle of the ridiculously expensive fragrance.

Imagine catching a wild boar. You take it to a wood shop. You have the boar sit in giant ashtray. Then you lay a very dry, brown leather blanket over the boar. That is Woody Leather. If it wasn't for that ashy, smokey note....it would be decent. That kills it for me. It has zero sweetness, which as you can tell from the comments, is appealing to some folks. But not to the majority of folks who buy fragrances. Definitely not mass appealing. It is very high quality - in line with its price. Excellent longevity. Quality - 9.8/10 Scent - 4/10 Projection - 5/10 Longevity - 9/10 If you hate sweet scents and are a fan of ashy, smokey scent notes. This will be a Favorite. If you are normal person that thinks something like Le Male Elixer smells amazing -- you probably wouldn't wear this, even if it was free.

Tom Ford Tuscan Leather improved. The oud isn’t really “intense” to me. This fragrance has a beautiful depth to it, and it’s one of the more likable and crowd-friendly ouds out there—but as with all ouds, it’s still not friendly to all crowds. Performance is quite nice, and a little goes a long way. I bought a travel 3 x 7.5 mL set new in box on eBay for $63, and it was an absolute steal at that price. I’d never pay full price for this one. Some Clive Christians, maybe, but definitely not this one. Tuscan Leather is a cheaper substitute that would be close enough for me. If you like Tuscan Leather, you’ll probably love this. It just seems brighter and a little fresher somehow.

This to me is one of the most beautiful fragrances I have ever smelled. I don't think Clive Christian gives away a lot of free stuff, which is why it's probably not covered by a lot of YouTubers. With the lack of content on this brand, all my purchases from Clive Christian have been blind buys. I have to say, this is my favorite one so far for the fall/winter (1872 and Cypress are a tie for summer). I haven't smelled the Tom Ford fragrance this keeps being compared to so I can't say if it is similar or not. However, I can say this is rich, dark, masculine, elegant! I have a work trip later this month and look forward to wearing this with a suit at dinner.

Beautiful leather scent with hints of dark woods. Smells very refined and classy, with decent performance. Scent profile is similar to Ombre Leather to my nose, but C is more natural and smoother. I find Ombre Leather (OL) can be a bit overpowering and cloying, while C isn’t and so is easier and more enjoyable to wear. However, given the relative similarity to OL, it’s hard to justify the 3-4x more expensive retail price point (per ml). If you really love leather scents (such as OL), and can find this for ~50% off, it’s probably a worth picking up. I’m pleased I got it at good discount. I would rate this an 8 out of 10

I’m pretty much in the same boat as trm1984, this is also my first CC fragrance(however I have worn it, not just smelled it on paper), it smells amazing. As others have said, it does smell like TF TL, but in my opinion it’s a lot nicer and lasts a lot longer (at least on my skin,) I still get a faint smell after 24 hours. I’m not sure about projection or silage, as I’ve not worn it out the house yet, I only got it yesterday (20/2/18,) but I will say I’m happy with my purchase and may look into other CC offerings.

Very similar to Tuscan Leather, but much better in my opinion. Very well blended and lacking the sweetness of other popular leather fragrances. No one has mentioned this, but I *distinctly* get black tea when I sniff this. Anyone else? It could be the tobacco, but it really smells to me like a cup of Twinings. I don't smell any oud worth mentioning, so no worries for those who don't care for it. This is a safe, classy, masculine leaning leather scent that will make you feel like a distinguished gentleman.

Outstanding leather perfume if you like Tuscan Leather sort of vibe. Rich with animalic nuances and tobacco make this a home run. A top 5 all time leather for me with Etro Gomma, GGA, Rotano, and Tom Ford TL.The comparison to Godolphin is laughable as that one has a god awful fruity note. I find the house wildly overpriced but this is one of the few that are excellent. Scent 9/10

I am impressed. very soft & dark at the same time. the dry down is better than the opening. I can use it anytime except under the sun. Longevity is 8-10 hours with soft projection. On my shirt it lasted until the next day. ridiculous price point but it is very nice & would make a great addition to any collection. might buy a full bottle if i find available at discounters.

Very gorgeous and bolder than TF Tuscan Leather. I think if you want a niche version or an extrait version of Tuscan Leather, this one will fit for u. A masterpiece in my opinion, up there with Creed any day of the week, for men between 35-70, probably the best men’s scent I’ve ever known, luxurious sweet smoke and leather, that has got me several looks and comments in the office and train, the wife loves it and I’m on my 4th bottle now, true value for money as well. A true winner.

An exquisite blend. Sophosticated, quality leather and woods together with other complimenting notes. Simply gorgeous, manly, grounded, rich, beautifully balanced so that is it always tame at the same time, never reaching off putting tones. I would love to have this as my signature, but the price is insane... :/

As the name implies, it's an intense blend of leather and oudh. The combination is smooth, not overly animalic, and the performance is quite strong, almost too strong. So far, this is my favorite from the house of Clive Christian.

This is peak perfumery and high quality ingredients used ,everything is well balanced, gorgeous, beautifully crafted fragrance the more i am using it more i am loving it definitely buying a backup bottle 5/5 star.

I LOVE THIS! It reminds me of Ombre Leather but with a darker tone! The tobacco and the oud is there, but very subtle, which is perfect. Great performance as well. 10/10 fragrance. Shame that it's way overpriced.

I own and we're mostly all of Clive Christians fragrances. C is definitely one of my top three Clive for men favorites. I love the distinctive and smooth smell of leather. The fragrance last throughout the day.

Oh my God WoW wow WOW wOw. So beautiful

My first impressions of this fragrance when I got my sample were that it was Ombré Leather but with mandarine orange and spices. I don't have any experience with Tuscan Leather to see if this compares, as I can see way more upvotes for that than Ombré Leather. The fragrance changed quite a bit when I tried it on skin, as is the case with most leather fragrances and my skin. Thankfully, unlike Ombré Leather EDP (Parfum and EDT do work well on my skin), C Woody Leather works really well on my skin. It smells like pure leather, but not like a finished leather product, it's rough and pungent (in a good way), like the leather is still in the midst of its production. The spices and mandarine are completely gone and I also smell no oud in here at all. As the fragrance dries down there's an earthy tobacco smell that comes forward and the fragrance also becomes woodier, but generally speaking it's an extremely well blended fragrance that continues smelling like leather as time goes on, unlike other leather fragrances where it's gone after a while. I'd also say this is the best and most natural leather note I've smelled in any fragrance so far, although to be fair I haven't tried many as leather fragrances aren't really my preference. I'll definitely be coming back to this fragrance in a few months when the weather is cooler to let it shine. I only applied two sprays from its sample vial on my right hand to test it and it's rather strong. The fragrance I gave an actual full wear today is Tobacco Oud and this overpowered it with ease (they also smell really good together by the way). Projection seems strong and sillage quite dense, so this may be a bit overpowering if it's oversprayed or worn in warm weather. My guess is longevity is also really good, as I have washed my hands twice and I can still smell it very clearly on my hands 4 hours later. Not the most accurate review on performance as it was really just a test spray on my hand, but performance seems to be quite good overall.

First off, as a disclaimer, I've always found the Clive C and Tuscan Leather comparisons to be superficial, made in haste by smelling on paper or perhaps only noticing the top notes and not "living" with each fragrance through different times, temperatures, etc. With that said, the new edition of Clive C really has me scratching my head. The first 30 seconds reminds me very closely of the original, but then it heads exactly where I've always argued that it didn't - into Tuscan Leather clone territory! There's a magic with Tuscan Leather's opening - that brief chemical-based but beautiful decadent opening. But that's not here with the new Clive C. The thyme is amped up, at least to my nose, lending towards more comparisons to Tuscan Leather. The only difference is you don't get a raspberry note in the middle. Is this a good fragrance? Certainly. Very high quality, really nice smelling. But as a fan of the house, I simply have no idea what they're trying to do. I would tell anyone to buy Tuscan Leather over this, or better yet, track down the original formulation. Also, just to point out one more issue I have with this release... the fact that Clive Christen felt the need to release something with the word "intense" in the name is simply terrible marketing. They're killing the supposed prestige of the brand, moving towards the banality of the designer/Macy's counter world. Just really disappointing.

My first time experience CC fragrances, and they are not disappointing! This smells really close to TF TL but with less of a fruity note and the leather in this is a little drier and darker than in TF TL. I am only typing out my thoughts from smelling on paper, I need to full wear this to assess it's potential, but it's very nice so far.

Wood: ✔️ Leather: ✔️ Oud: ✔️ The name is accurate. It does smell high quality...in a "dirty" kind of way. Just can't think of many occasions on which this would be my go-to. Perhaps good for a winter date night.

Basically softer, easier to wear Tuscan Leather with citrus notes, nothing more.

The opening is great. A leather/wood combo that smells like a fresh outdoor furniture store in the middle of a forest. There is a smooth suede sweetness, and the woody notes feel like a real hike with the sun on your face with everything calm and green. About an hour in, something new creeps in. Is the forest on fire? Is someone brewing tea? Is that smell coming from me...? The drydown brings a tea-like note that feels out of place, and the masculine woody/leather scents starts shifting into a bitter tea accord, similar to Bacio Immortale by Argos. I look up, and the bright morning forest has turned to night. I'm lost, wishing I could get back to that opening the fragrance offered, but I can't. In the end, it settles as a woody leather tea fragrance. Amazing start, unexpected finish. By no means is this a bad fragrance. The high quality is there, but whatever is giving me that tea note to my nose, is very unwanted.

This fragrance is very similar to Tuscan Leather with a twist of tobacco, woods and a light oud. I really like the opening sprays ... there's a bit a fruity sweetness to fragrance. Maybe it's me but I showered myself in this fragrance within 3 hrs with 10 sprays (like I said I like the opening) the performance sit a close to the skin with good silage

When I first spray Woody Leather, my mind thinks of only one thing - Tuscan Leather. It’s an inescapable truth that this scent is a riff on the Tom Ford classic, which is unfortunate as from the notes I was hoping for this scent to have a lot of potential. This has the exact same thick, cloying, jammy leather accord as Tuscan Leather - except here the overall scent is more tolerable with the absence of raspberry. The saffron is amped up to replace that sweetness but it’s still not as sickly as the Tom Ford. As you can probably guess I really don’t like Tuscan Leather and so I don’t like this scent either, although I will admit it’s a more wearable version. If you love Tuscan Leather then this is redundant, if you can’t stand it like me then avoid this fragrance.

What does it smell like? Notes are woody, spicy, leathery and oriental. The oud is probably there too. Yeah, but what does that mean? It means that the opening is leathery and sweet, unisex at first, and then it settles down to become more of a darker slightly more masculine, but mainly red spicy scent. To me, it really reminds me of spicy food. It smells like indian kitchen. Like you've rubbed chili paste on your skin, together with soap and ashes. If that is for you, this is a good perfume. Worth it? Yes! If you like it. It lasts for many hours and it's very potent.

This is one of those leather fragrances that doesn't work for me. There's a thick funk that ruins the overall experience. I imagine part of that is the oud, but I've also had great experiences with other oudy fragrances. It must just be how the oud combines with the other notes in this one. This is pretty rough and animalic (and funky, as mentioned). I don't get much of the traditional wood notes in this. The leather and funk drowns out everything else. If you like fragrances that are rough, dirty, and masculine, you may enjoy this. It's just not for me.

Bbjr, this IS confusing, but it is a "new" old C for men. The difference is on the bottle (new one has heavily embellished letter C) AND new formulation. I am not sure if the old version, which was pretty similar to Tom Fords Tuscan Leather, will be discontinued - that would be a pity. The original C is truly beautiful and shining perfume while the new one was knocked down from the heaven by extra tobacco, oud or whatever they picked. To me, the old C smells like Clive Christian. The new C smells like.. everybody else :)

Another copy 🥱 of Tuscan Leather 👑 Only here the raspberry is substituted by mandarin 🍊 I don't understand why it's hard to be creative especially when they charge so much for their fragrances. 💰💸 Oh and the "oudh" is not genuine, but instead a western type synthetic oud, hence the spelling oudh. 😁 If you're looking for a creative unique leather fragrance try something like Hard Leather by Laurent Mazzone which retails for half the price and it's an extrait de parfum.

It is amazing how many people are bashing expensive companies finding some of their scents to be the same as some Tom Ford scents. It looks like for some people Tom Ford invented the fragrances. Probably for them, almost all leather fragrances are dupes of Tuscan Leather or Ombre Leather. Actually, in terms of quality and performance from the Private Collection Tom Ford, there is only one high-quality good performing amazing scent: Tobacco Vanille. For every single other scent, you will find another fragrance that is better performing higher quality and complexity on the market some of them were even released before the Tom Ford ones but nobody sees when Tom Ford launches something similar to another brand. However, in the perfume industry, similarities will always exist like in music, movies, and other arts. The thing is that fragrances with the main and strongest note being leather are easily split in 2 categories: easy-to-wear clean elegant luxurious leather scents and darker smokier more animalic ones. The best in 1st category a leather u can put on u in summer evenings is Aqua di Parma Leather EDP or in its older name (cologne concentree) and is 10 times better than Tuscan Leather u cannot teach as Tom Ford italians how to make a tuscan leather fragrance. In 2nd category darker smokier animalic type of leather which is more suitable for cold weather nothing comes close in quality to CC C and in my opinion the new formulation Woody Leather Oud Intense is better than the old one because is darker and even more suitable for cold weather. Ombre Leather is the leather of the cowboy not a refined upper class british gentleman that enjoys to go to exquisite private gentleman clubs

The best leather fragrance I’ve ever tried. Similar to Tuscan Leather in the sense they’re both leather scents. However, TL is much more sharp, and rough; much like that sharp powdery stuff people put up their noses on party nights. It’s a great scent, no doubt. TL is meant for cooler winter/spring/fall nights, where you want to act a bit wild and let loose — a party, the carnival, a lounge with friends. Somewhere where being noticed is welcomed. C by Clive Christian is an incredibly smooth and seductive leather. I pick up faint notes of saffron and tobacco, both of which round this out and give it a bit of body and dimension. But the main note I’m inhaling and is leather — It smells like a fresh leather jacket right off the rack which is unworn, unused. It’s soft, rich, supple; unscathed by the weathering of the outside world. I’ll be wearing this when I want that dark and mysterious edge whilst still being suave and refined. An outing that requires class yet a certain charm and seduction. It’s a very polished leather fragrance that is meant to be dressed-up. That new dining spot for dinner with drinks, a dates, a semi-formal event, an evening stroll with your partner when it’s slightly damp out, art gallery — anywhere you’re feeling a bit more sensual and intimate, rather than loud and extroverted like Tuscan Leather. I own both and I do see a use for both. But if I could only have one, I’d go for C

Being a true fan of Tuscan Leather by Tom Ford, this fragrance has always been on my radar since the 1st day I smelled its original batch in 2011. Yes, I’ve been waiting 13 years to add this jewel to my collection, and I think I’d have waited even longer if I hadn’t got it for almost half its original price.😊 The original version had a cherry note combined with a high-class suede leather that made it, in my eyes, the most beautiful perfume in the world. Its hold was spectacular and it projected beautifully. This new version is more centered on a trio of bitter orange, oud and tobacco, which remains in the same vibration but gives this fragrance a harsher, more mature aspect. I prefer the original for its smoothness and elegance, but I really like this one too. I’d just have liked more performance and for it and to retain the cherry note, which is one of my favorite fruit note.🍒🍒🍒 As usual, I do not recommend this fragrance or any fragrance from my collection as a blind buy. 8,5/10 in my book.🤓📝📓Please sample, make your own opinion and please take your time to really fall in love with your fragrances so that your collection will be a true holly grail one.😊😉

I had a small bottle of the old version for 4 years I was using it only on winter and now I got the new one. It's the similar scent but slightly lighter. Maybe oil concentration reduced 2-4%, I need to spend more time with this fo decide how it perform Before I used to do two sprays but now I think I need 4-6 sprays. I feel longevity is not affected but sillage is definitely less in the new one. Now let me explain the scent, simply this is Tuscan leather but more leathery woody and smoky and less fruity. CC is better, smooth and less sweet compared to TL. TL is more kind of playful scent, but CC is more grown up version, its good for special occasions like formal meeting or night out with co workers. In general it's more wearable version if TL, and people around you will not find harsh as TL do. If you have Tuscan leather then save your money and do less sprays to get CC vibes. Tuscan leather (8/10) Clive Christine C (8.5/10) Update I do not recommend anyone to buy the new formulation of this thing, it's performance is horrible, for $600 it should be beeaaast mooood, So be wise and save your money!

This is practically identical to the original C formulation. This is by far the best leather fragrance on the market that I've experienced. If people are smelling differences between the original and this newer branding I'd suggest that they're practising bias or elitism for the sake of being avant-garde. I could admit that there may be a tiny bit extra smokey/woodiness and less sweetness than the older formulation which is a welcomed change (The original C for men has been long standing my favourite parfum, so I'm not saying this lightly). That being said - the scent is a deep rich and smokey leather, carried with an appropriately heavy saffron, mandarin blend. It dries down into a sweet gourmand base after a few hours but maintains a very light woody smokiness. As with most Oud claims; it's there - but in such small quantity that it adds to the woodiness but is almost non existent and is probably more marketing than a key competent of the fragrance

Public Service Announcement* Just want the people to know that every leather fragrance isn't similar to Tuscan Leather just like every tobacco fragrance isn't similar to Tobacco Vanille. Do the homework on these reviewers for YOUR purview of veracity. This fragrance has a voice for business endeavors. The tonality is loud and clear and speaks to the strength, maturity and sagaciousness of the wearer. This opens with a fragrant saffron bouquet highlighted by a lightly citric note of orange. The assemblage of notes are rugged in its splendor but can be redundant for those familiar with the original version. Smell wise, this is the closest thing to beef jerky; smoked, leathery and spicy. Finally, I detected a hint of something akin to black licorice towards the very end. The base is dry and the aromas fade away nicely. A fragrance worth your time.

People say tuscan leather, i understand that the opening is identical, but this fragrance is not a direct copy. People go so easy with their opinion without really thinking & smelling through. This fragance got way more dept,more spices then TF, when it dries down, the tobacco comes to the surface and it is really great, and the performance is so strong, on my skin it lasted 14 hours easily. Next day i still smelled it in the shower. The leather note is so realistic, it smells like a leather cowhide that is laying down on the floor, i mean really. One of the most realistic leather fragrances i ever tried. Tom Ford is nothing compared to this one.. if it is a nice cold day, wear this one as a statement maker. 2 sprays max, you will fill the whole room.

Having only begun purchasing Clive Christian fragrances two years ago, I was unaware of any supposed reformulation of this fragrance until recently. With my curiosity piqued, I obtained a bottle of the original formulation of C from a well-known department store's liquidation website. I sprayed the old formulation on one wrist and this formulation on the other. I can confidently assert that there is no difference between the two. It's the same old C with different packaging. The same cannot be said of L (which is worse now, very boring) and V (which is better), but that is another story. It's still the second best CC fragrance after X. I have yet to meet anyone who dislikes the way it smells on me.

I don't like this one at all. Smells like 60% of diluted previous Clive Christian C for Men formula mixed with 40% of Tom Ford Ombre Leather. Oh gosh, how I wish I could get the old formulation, I would buy it now if I only knew what happens with masculine C in just few years. The previous version compared to this one was: less sweet, much more smoky, much more woody and definitely more leather-y. I am comparing directly C for Men Woody Leather with Oud Intense with Tom Ford Tuscan Leather Intense. The latter one is much more like the Old C for Men than the actual C for Men Woody Leather Intense is (sic!) I can't say anything more than "Look how they massacred my boy"...

I am lucky to own two bottles of the old C for Men, which is my absolute favorite, and I've been wearing it every day for a while. So, now, trying this one here, which is the new reformulated version from 2017... I'm confused. It smells great, and is somewhat similar to the original. But seemingly very weak. I'm used to putting on one spray and it lasts all day, still there the next morning. This one seems to disappear very quickly, even with several sprays. Not very Clive Christian like. Not in any way "intense". I'm not quite sure what they were thinking.
