I for Men Amber Oriental With Rich Musk

A fantastic frankincense and musk fragrance. Vanilla should absolutely be higher up on the main notes list, I instantly get the sweetness in the opening hidden behind a fuzzy and rustic mix of patchouli and leather. The musk note is a brilliant auxiliary because I don't quite smell it when I bring my nose close to my wrist, but I unmistakably detect it as I move my nose away and catch whiffs of the sillage. It's a great carrier for the notes to form the scent trail. The incense slowly emerges and overshadows the entire composition, adding a pleasant smokiness to the scent. I'm not sure which note is the cause, but I also get a sour note for the first hour which I'm not a huge fan of. No complaints at all about the performance. Very long lasting and projection is heavy to moderate throughout it's life thanks to the musk note. Overall, "I" manages to strike a nice balance between soft sensuality with the musk, and the crisp professionalism of frankincense and woody notes. Out of all the fragrances in the "Private Collection", I think "I" for men, "V" for men, and "C" for women are the most underrated and deserve more appreciation from the fragrance community. V for men is a wonderful dry vetiver with a touch of amber, although the performance is abysmal on me. And C for women is a lovely balance between damp and dry floral notes.

Clive Christian's "I - Amber Oriental" is a feel-good, old-school men's EdP that could also be enjoyed by ladies. "I - Amber Oriental" tended not to change on me whatsoever: From initial spray-on to many hours in the summer sun, it had a really clean, spicy-sweet quality that never got tiring to smell! Tonka bean definitely plays a huge part in painting this bespoke fragrance, as does the balsam fir, moss, patchouli, and sandalwood. Not for everyone, but "I - Amber Oriental" certainly will have its fans out there, esp. those who enjoy some of the simpler sweet-fougeres of decades past.

I love this scent. It is deep and dark, seductive and provocative in a masculine way though it will perform well on women as well. The musk is outstanding while the olibanum, tonka bean and a little bit sandalwood support it with a warm and thick base. I can also smell moss and patchouli, giving it a clean and dry hue. Nevertheless, I cannot smell leather as a prominent note according to the statistic but it is noticeable. Clive Christian's fragrances always make me bow to their complexity and uniqueness and this is not an exception.

I am a 29 yo female and this is my signature scent along with baccarat rouge 540 extrait. This perfume is a beast! It makes me feel like I am in a big warm hug all day. I think is leaning towards colder weather perfume but I cannot stop wearing it whenever I need a pick up. The first 10 minutes of the opening are a bit harsh, but the Drydown is phenomenal! I can’t recommend it enough!

I for Men is the lovechild of Vintage Gucci Eau de parfum (Gucci Brown) and vintage Chanel Coco EDT. Funny that something with a very similar scent profile to 2 absolutely huge beasts of the female fragrance world is now marketed as a male fragrance. How times have changed. Rich, deep, woody, aromatic, slightly powdery and a bit sweet. Stunning, entirely unisex, love.

I never write reviews for fragrances so I'm going to keep this short and simple. Ive had this for a few years and this is still the best thing I've ever smelled.

I sprayed this on in 2 different shops and got a fruity and 0 musk pleasant scent. Having liked it i bought it and now its musk galore, especially the first 20 minutes, then it calms down and becomes sweeter. I think this loses it's dominant musk vibe in time and turns into a creamier fruity soft scent. Asides from the overpowering musk i think this is very wearable, so i just wait a bit for it to calm down and then start enjoying it. This is a very mature scent, i think its unisex and definitely 40+ 8/10

Why isn’t Amber listed? Notes don’t match CC’s website. And I smell Amber for sure.

To begin with, the notes listed here on fragrantica aren’t even remotely accurate, a common pattern with Clive Christian fragrances on here - Parfumo has a more accurate note breakdown. Amber Oriental promises two things from the name, but only lives up to one of them: the oriental side. It opens with a sweet fruitiness of pineapple, dried fruits, apple, grapefruit, bergamot and juniper with a soft creaminess coming from leather and oakmoss. There’s touches of green floral notes coming from tagetes and davana, however this is brutally overpowered by this very bitter and scratchy musk/frankincense combination. In the base there are touches of patchouli, tonka and vanilla but these unfortunately cannot compete with the overpowering musk. This is a very strange smelling fragrance, I do enjoy some parts of it but I feel the blending could’ve been much better. The fruitiness is pleasant, and this definitely comes across as a musky oriental however, it hugely lacks any Amber component to the composition. This was a blind buy for me and I was really hoping the Amber would have been more prominent.

Ms Bayne has created a masterpiece of incense with this fragrance. There is no denying the quality of ingredients used in all of Clive’s scents. I for Men really focuses on incense here & not Musk’ like the name may suggest. Sure there is a good deal of musk in this but it really bolsters the incredible Olibanum. For me this creation is on a par with FM’s Dawn’ minus the Oud. Utterly Fantastic ❤️

Literally smells like some old hair spray, aquanet or similar. What a shame... I had to come back and add this: the drydown is not bad at all. A nice amber, soft and somewhat powdery . My skin eats it up and it becomes a nose to skin kind of scent in less than an hour. Unfortunately it is still a shame for being such an expensive fragrance without projection or longevity.

I know our ideas of "masculine" and "feminine" are not what they used to be, but this is ladies perfume and if it were marketed as such no one would say "but the men can enjoy it too."

got the sample, its 99% like blonde amber, probably they discontinued this to rebrand as BA?
