L for Men Woody Oriental With Deep Amber

This is supreme aromatic oriental smoky wood. There is no rose in it, the reviews below must be talking about wrong perfume. There is definitely peppery kick at the beginning, gone within minutes. I could not recognise citrus notes. The floral notes are very well crafted to be complementary to the main woody note, just a light floral whiff here and there. The drydown is mellow amber. This is classy even perfume for formal occasions. It lasted for ~10h, the projection, I think, is moderate.

Just blind bought it! But... My first impression is so so. This is very refined and smooth. Really safe and clean. But what is not made clear, is that this is a rose scent. There is a strong, predominant rose note that overshadows all. Rose is not my favourite note. Maybe I'll appreciate this more later on. For now, I call it Chanel Allure Homme Edition Rose. Extreme. Edit: It's getting better. Really warm and sweet, a bit feminine. Quite nice, actually. Will wear more often.

One of those scents, others never seem to take to, yet just hits the spot in virtually all ways on an individual basis.. The deep amber is hypnotic, the other elements never cloying resulting in a personal favorite from Clive Christian. Remarkable how the perfumer maintained a fresh airy feel to the usually heavy sweetness of amber, while ensuring the projection is never less than assertive and never fleeting. 9/10

If you take out the raspberry in Tuscan Leather and add lavender, you get this scent. Such an enjoyable/easy wear for this style fragrance. Worth the price at discounters if you can find it.

Have you ever been to a airport, just vibing and listening to music, waiting at the gate of your plane. Then, as you people watch, you see one of the best looking, well dressed, and sexiest older man you've ever seen. His salt and pepper hair and possible facial hair meshes well with the tailored grey suit and tie that he has on. Clearly meaning all business, he wheels a similarly grey suitcase with him as you can do nothing else but wonder where he's going, what's his story. This is how he would smell. This really is a beautiful scent. A beautiful peppery opening that sinks to a great mid of sweet mandaring orange, creamy lavender, geranium, and a wonderful assortment of oriental spices and woods. A thick and resinous slightly sweet amber grows more and more as it dries even more, finally finishing up with a very handsome amber and oriental notes/woods mix. As Vegas Pauli said, it has a very thick and comforting feel to it, like a well tailored suit. This would be a perfect scent for a man 30+, as I really like this, but it is very old for me unless I wore a suit and I already have a lot of those type of scents. This is my first from Clive Christian, and it was an ok start, not full bottle now, but maybe in a few years. Very masculine, but wear what you like. Great projection and performance, but I would kinda expect that with the pretty penny a full bottle will run you. 7.8/10

Thick, rich and syrupy this is definitely interesting. This is my first experience with this line and my first impression is overall positive. This is well made, well blended and expensive smelling. Would I wear it? That I don't know. It's really heavy and there is something about the amber note that reminds me of plastic a little bit. As a special occasion fragrance this would foot the bill nicely. Say an evening wedding or black tie affair. As an everyday scent? No way as a bottle of this would last me 10 years, this stuff is off the charts strong. Still the quality is impressive. Let's just say I'll admire this one from afar.

I have to say, though I'm a fan of the line (love C and I, like V), this one is rather disappointing. Like another reviewer said, it's safe and clean. To me it smells like a more bland and commercial V. It's spicy and there's a familiar pepper note with a citrus opening that slowly fades into spicy woods and amber. While not a slouch, the performance is nothing to write home about: soft to moderate projection and lasts mostly as a skin scent from hour 4 onward. It's an adequate fragrance at a, likely, excessive price.

I'm less taken with this one. It seems Clive Christian make fragrances that I, personally, either like, love or absolutely hate. This one falls dead in the centre. I feel nothing, really, when wearing this. It doesn't move me. It lasts for quite a while and it better for $700, but it's quite one dimensional and it's just a bit stagnant. There's leather, amber and oak... maybe? A little transparent for something with so many heavy base notes. It's not bad, I'm sure some will love it.

Who doesn't like a good remix? Run-D.M.C's "It's like that(vs. Jason Nevins) comes to mind as an all time remix. Sometimes we alter things for a different perspective and other times for the sake of amelioration. How much did we like Clive Christian L and did it deserve a reboot of sorts? This isn't a hybridized L. In fact, this could of donned a brand new name all together. But let's keep it on the subject of "L." For the price, this is "L"aughable. This "L"anguid attempt of woody wonderland is "L"acking some components needed to buttress all of these woody mentions. At $395, this should be the "L"egislator of the woody world. This unexciting blend exhibits ripe lemon, citruses and spicy flavors that interlace with hints of wood. The distinctive aromatic character makes this proudly macho. There isn't any deep amber involved in the making of this fragrance(If any at all). Value wise, this is traaaaash!! C'mon guys don't fall for this crap! This aint the real thing and we're getting fried...CATFISH!! If you blind buy this fragrance, you will indeed take an "L."

I’m not sure exactly what I’m picking up note wise here, but the best way I can describe my sampling experience of L for Men is by saying it’s a luxurious take on a mainstream oriental. I get reminded of being at Macy’s during Christmas time... there’s a spicy/woody freshness that triggers familiarity here... but in a more mature manner. I’ll be sampling more of this.

Amouage - Guidance’s overall scent profile seems to be inspired by L for Men Woody Oriental. It is strikingly similar to my nose, with addition of hazelnut note and more vanilla in Guidance. This is more grown up and masculine. A nice scent, but feels like a mix of many heavy molecules creating a mud, but a nice smelling mud.

I fully agree with usas. The rose is super bitter. I thought initially that it might be some resins that were making it really bitter, but it tends to lose some of the bitterness to it once it dries down. The dry down is much better than the initial blast you get with the top notes.

A very natural, very complex, very successful all-season fragrance. A great composition. Definitely worth buying a full bottle Sillage 10/10 Performance 10/10 Fragrance 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hmm. Like a mix between Tom Ford Ombré Leather and Creed Tabarome. I like it, but the performance is severely lacking
