L for Women Floral Chypre With Rich Patchouli

Floral Chypre is a fragrance I have yearned for, for the past 2 years since I first discovered it. To me, this is easily the best fragrance from Clive Christian’s Private Collection, and yet people rarely talk about it. It’s got that fairly straightforward, characteristic Clive Christian DNA coursing through its veins, and yet manages to breathe life into my day each time I wear it. It goes without saying the notes on fragrantica only pain a portion of the full picture, as is often the case on this website. It’s a beautifully bright, elegant and indolic Jasmine with subtle hints of rose and sweet pink pepper, grounded by a deliciously honeyed leather and patchouli base - it makes my mouth water. The softness of these notes is dampened almost, by the inclusion of orris and vanilla, and yet is balanced to perfection. Nothing screams out at you, everything whispers in perfect harmony. I really enjoy this perfume, it just makes me happy every time I smell it. Any time I’m craving a sweet floral scent I will reach for this on most occasions, it’s such a fantastic mood lifter. I’m thrilled to finally own a bottle after treasuring my sample for so long.

Floral Chypre oozes sophistication and class, and definitely lives up to its name. It opens very sweet and powdery from the array of floral notes and fruity accords of peach and rhubarb, with a touch of pink pepper on the background. After a few minutes the florals start to truly develop, with rose, orris and jasmine being the main stars. On the side, beeswax and frankincense give the scent a soft thickness that softens the edges and takes away any sharpness. As it settles, these florals are greeted by patchouli and oakmoss in traditional chypre fashion, alongside a soft and smooth leather. A musky papyrus and vanilla are also present to present a dry sweetness which combines beautifully with everything else. It’s such a delicate perfume with a lot of character and elegance. While this fragrance does lean feminine, I find it can be worn by a man if you enjoy sweet and powdery florals. The price point is off putting, however this perfume is absolutely mind-blowingly good. The quality is astounding and everything is blended to perfection, it definitely doesn’t lack the luxury and class you’d expect from Clive Christian.

A very dense and rich chypre with a very honestly descriptive (if uninspiring) name. This has a lot of depth to it, and seems to have far more elements than those described in the note pyramid. The intoxication of the indolic jasmine works very well off the earthy patchouli notes. This is one of the rare jasmine-heavy scents most men could pull off well because of the powerful basenotes. The price point is high, but the perfume is exceptional.

Is a wonderful feminine perfume. I wore it on the skin and as the other one from Clive has something that blends beautiful with my skin chemistry. Is one of its kind and I see no perfume reminding me of it. I love it. I wear it. Makes you smell your wrist everyday without being juvenile or gourmand. Is a fresh elegant chipre perfume giving a little bit of old school Chanel vibe but without bring similar with any of its dnas.

Rummy winey sweet rosy jasmine body woody base And thick sweetness with powdery iris and sweet spicy It Remind me of Feminin Pluriel by MMK together Coco by chanel Classic and abundant. and last of it is an ending like Jimmy choo EDP, Patchouli.

#141 in my "Tour de Fragrance." I shared a travel spray of this with four women in their late 20's. All four rated it a "grandma scent" and said if a man bought something like that for them he'd immediately be ghosted. They HATE, HATE, HATE rose notes and associate it with the "scents old ladies use in elder care to hide the fact that their diapers are full." I can't top that for a round condemnation.

I wore this today to work while layering it with Tiffany & Co Intense and it was a beautiful pairing that lasted all day. This fragrance is powdery to my nose which makes me believe their is either Iris or orris root in this perfume. It's truly a beautiful and sophisticated perfume.

As a grandma in her 30s I would advise the "Ladies in their 20's" to keep up with the body sprays like Victoria's Secret and Sol de Janeiro and not hating on real perfumes.

Powdery opening with a lot of iris. Nothing unusal, pretty clean scent with some small hints of jasmine & patchouli but most of it gets dominated by the iris.
