Rock Rose

‘Nobile VII - Rock Rose’ opens with a hesperedic accord featuring the tart freshness of bergamot. The combination of citrus, spice and floral top notes in perfumery is certainly not groundbreaking, but in ‘Nobile VII’ it is done so in a sublime way. Clary sage offers a balmy, woody aroma (not much unlike the smell of loose wet tobacco leaves) which helps to amplify the rock rose further in the forefront. The base of ‘Nobile VII’ is comprised of a unique pairing of notes which include cocoa, amber, patchouli, and vetiver. Amber and cocoa seem the most predominant, continuing the warm rich tone set in the top and middle notes. Faint hints of vetiver’s dry woodiness and patchouli’s denseness can be appreciated well into the drydown. As a men’s cologne in the styling of historical fougere fragrances, ‘Noble VII - Rock Rose’ excels. It strikes the perfect balance of mass market appeal while still exhibiting the handcrafted and unparralled quality one is to expect from the Clive Christian brand. At once sweet, spicy, woody, and herbal, 'Noble VII' unfurls itself upon the wearer's skin in an astonishing olfactory performance. Got this from an authorized Clive Christian store who decided to drop the brand and liquidate their inventory. I got this deeply discounted, as well as buying No. 1, 1872, and X--all masculine. This is the perfect fragrance for when you don't want to offend or know what know what to wear. It's so likable and fresh without being aquatic--just the right amount of normal-ness to it that no one is going to say you stink; it's perfectly agreeable. It's year-round, drop-dead gorgeous and ready for the office, date night, poolside, or trip to the mall. One reviewer described it as "just eyes roll up into head juice," and that's what it is. If I had to throw away everything but one bottle, I'd probably keep this. The people who don't like it still can't even say it's bad. Not everyone wants to smell like Aventus, but they still want to be fresh--maybe even a little bright smelling. This is the one. It's expensive, and I think it smells it, too. It's one of the few that I'd recommend a blind buy of. If you want nice things, you'll have to pay nice prices. At $550, I don't think if I would've bought it at that price, but it was worth what I paid. If I ever run out, I may just buy it in travel size bottles from Clive Christian; the price is more palatable. Lasts about 7 hours until it starts getting close to the skin. Then it stays as a skin scent for about another 5 hours. Lasts a good while on clothes. Sillage is perfect, around 4-6 feet for about 4-6 hours or so. My performance varies. I'll wear this year-round, but only have worn in the hot, humid Mississippi Summer. Can't choose a good season for it because it's just so versatile. 10/10 scent, 8.5/10 longevity--great for a fresh scent, 9/10 sillage. Edit: as it's gotten a lot hotter, the performance has drifted often down to 5 hours for me. Disappointing, but still love it.

This is such a fantastic, simple approach to a simple, yet complex perfume. This is one of those fragrances that doesn't need to have that stanky oud note or exotic/extremely unique vibe to tell you that it is "niche." This stuff will tell you it is niche by the quality of the simplicity. By "simple," I don't mean boring, trust me. By "simple," I mean an amazing, fresh, universally-appealing fragrance. The difference with this one, is that this has such a different appeal than your everyday drivers. This is built on character and effortless distinction of quality vs cheap. You feel fresh, happy and invigorated when you wear this. The notes all combine so well it is hard to describe. I definitely get the lavender and violet up top which we are all familiar with. But the way those two lead the charge is so alluring. Then, I sometimes get a creamy mid which is the actual 'rock rose' or labdanum. Sometimes it's creamy and sometimes it is woody - it's kind of crazy how it changes. Personally, I like the woody facet a bit more but the creamy side is a little more quirky. As it dries down, the woodiness starts to blanket the bottom notes. So in the end, you get this uplifting masculine mix of lavender/violet with a creamy/woody mid followed by a woody base. I would almost say the woody base is cedar-like and not vetiver. At the end of the day, the whiffs you get are enlivening. It's a happy fragrance with a simple yet insanely complex blend of top notch ingredients. The only warning I will give is to make sure you spray the right amount! Too many sprays can lead to an intrusive metallic-creamy overload which is hard to handle because it is so damn strong. I would start slow with three sprays and find what works best for you. My personal experience: Longevity - 10/10 Sillage - 9/10 Scent - 9/10

OK now I feel comfortable doing a review: This is a really nice fragrance, but shares similarities with multiple different ones in the market. This is a nice variation of a fougere, still built over a clean lavender, but replacing the classic green/woody aspects with a dry sweetened accord centered on the rock rose note (laudanum). You know which DNA is also a variation of a fougere? Montblanc Legend and Percival’s. I’d dare to say that even Sauvage has some of that lavender/geranium clean heart. With that in mind, RR gives me a vibe just between 3 fragrances: Drakkar Noir, Percival and Dior Sauvage. A really nice fresh fragrance with depth, with that clean lavender focused feel from Drakkar noir, the hedion-y ambery airyness of Percival and a strong dry/sweet base as achieved by the overdose of Ambroxan in Sauvage. This is the one with the most amount of naturals I’d say. You can feel the natural lavender and how the cacao and labdanum open and give that dry sweetness in the background. This is also the most elegant one, but is not a beast mode fragrance like percival or Sauvage. This one lasts a good amount of time, 8-10 hours, but it doesn’t project that much and I get nose blind to it after 4 hours I love this fragrance, as I loved Sauvage until everyone started using it. I find this fragrance different enough to be considered a good buy, however, sadly, the shared similarities with a lot of mainstream fragrance may be a letdown; I experienced this letdown when my girlfriend told me: is nice, but you smell like people, not someone in particular, but people

This fragrance is very well done, and one can tell immediately that top quality ingredients are used to make it. I was actually very pleasantly surprised at how amazing this scent is - especially considering that I am not a huge fan of other Clive Christian products. This fragrance is definitely floral, but it has a masculine depth (likely due to the combination of sage, Vetiver, and patchouli). That being said, this is scent is certainly unisex. The fragrance notes are clearly listed above, so I’m not going to go into some long winded description about each and every one. However, bergamot is the main player in the opening. Rock rose rocks the heart after a bit of drydown and it blends very nicely with the amber in the base. This scent, though incredibly expensive, could easily be an everyday wear. Unfortunately, unless you’re rich, that’s highly unlikely. I’d personally save this for special days where I really wanted to stand out or smell very sexy. It has become one of my top 3 favorite scents. I wish that this scent were available in refills or larger size bottles, because there is no need to waste bottles and packaging every time you purchase a new one. Rock Rose is a difficult fragrance to review, mainly due to its price. The scent is spectacular, I absolutely love it. I don't get a similarity with Amyris Extrait, it reminds me more of Percival, but Rock Rose is much more natural, warmer and sweeter, likely due to the cacao and amber notes, whereas Percival is synthetic, cold and refreshing. It has that slight old school appeal, but still comes across as very modern and extremely likable. They did an amazing job of blending this, as no one particular note seems to stand out. It's an extrait, so the longevity is outstanding. Projection is good, but not amazing (strong for 3 hours, then closer to the skin). Now, for the price. It's ludicrous. It retails for $550 for a small 47ml bottle. The best price I've seen is $400. I decided to get 3 travel atomizers (22.5 ml) for $130 which is barely reasonable to me, as I don't really care about the bottle. Based solely on scent alone, it's a love. With price factored in, it's a like. Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 10/10 Projection: 6/10 Price/Performance Ratio: 2/10

I sampled this a while back and knew I’d have to buy a bottle. I’d been keeping an eye on the usual discount sites waiting for a bottle to pop up at a good price and one finally did, so I snapped it up. This is really smooth stuff. It’s a fairly linear scent, but it really doesn’t need to change much. It’s beautifully blended rose and lavender with some very nice fresh spicy notes. There’s a little bit of wood and some subtle powder, probably from the cocoa. It’s honestly kind of difficult to pick out individual notes since everything is balanced so well. Overall, this is a very sexy, classy scent. This is better suited to sophisticated older men, I feel. A successful businessman in an expensive suit. Very versatile scent, works any time of year, day or night. Works as a date scent, an office scent, formal events, you could really wear it almost anywhere. Easy 10/10 for me. It is obviously very pricey, which might turn some people off, but if you’re a collector of high-end niche scents you really can’t go wrong with this one.

Beautiful scent. If I had to have a signature scent it would be this. Problem is the price, at £490 for 50ml you're having a laugh.. you should get this scent profile sub £200 easily. For that reason I'll probably never own this. That's the issue with CC frags, they've made some beautiful scents but they're so overpriced, we're not even simply just talking expensive here. Even if I had money to blow I'd still think this is too steep. I've noticed with some of these British houses they can get away with charging outrageous prices (Boadicea for instance) because people are suckers and they automatically assume it's peak British craftsmanship because they buy into the marketing and aesthetic 😂😂. Even though Boadicea has had over 100 fragrances created in like the past 10 years..In all fairness this is the case with almost all major luxury brands no matter where they're from in the world, I just think the British counterparts can be hilariously obnoxious 😂 a perfume of noble birth yeah give it a rest mate

My favorite fragrance from Clive Christian. Unfortunately it doesn’t last long (or I go nose blind quickly) but the scent profile of this is so unique and amazing that I’ve fallen for it. Hard. I’m a sucker for purple fragrances and this has clary sage, lavender and violet. The opening is fresh and then mellows down to a purply-warm fragrance while remaining fresh. The base notes are present the entire time. Start to finish. Amber, vetiver, cacao and patchouli. Although they are darker notes, the fragrance stays somewhat fresh even after dry down. Clive is a symphony of a house. A tabernacle if you will. All the notes sing in harmony. As if they’ve practiced their whole life. You don’t hear 1 note more than the other. They are all blended and formed to be one single orchestra. Rock rose doesn’t last a whole lot nor does it have a strong Sillage (it was made this way on purpose as part of its art) but it is still worth having. All year, all season, all day type of fragrance.

love at the first sniff , this scent is a 10/10. its smells unique and familiar at the same time. i own and smelt many fresh ,versatile fragrances and i havent found any clone similar to this fragrance. the closests are the xerjoff golden line. the opening has aromatic, smooth , resinous floral smell . drydown leaves a fresh concrete,rock smell , as the fragrance name says. the overall vibe reminds me a private garden inside a victorian castle. its inoffensive enough for office use. but has good proyection and duration to use in a open wider space. the skin scent man, its the best stuff you have to put your nose on. i wore this fragrance in the Disco and got me two compliments from women. the only downside is the price. i bought on discounters $235 usd for a 50ml bottle and i still consider it overpriced. but the overall performance and the quality ingredients they used that doesnt leave me any strong reaction, makes it worth the luxury price

Haven't worn this in a while, but went for it yesterday, and was very pleased. It was 90° yesterday and humid. This is a high heat, high humidity fragrance. it opens up in the heat, and when your skin is a bit sweaty. Makes this smell a little more jammy, a little more sweet, and makes it project more. Leaves an awesome scent trail in said conditions. Explorer platinum?!?!?! Missoni pour homme?!?!?! Etc. Ridiculous comparisons. This is an easy reach niche in the summer that smells great IMHO. The naturals in this and all Clive Christian scents really set them apart. There is nothing synthetic smelling, or cheap about this. Is it some nuclear bomb that takes over a room? No, and it's not meant to be. It's classy, refined, impeccably blended, and smooth.

After years of this being on my want list because it was absolute love at first smell at the department store for me. And let me inform you all that it smells even better in hand. It was pretty pricey even though I got it at the best price that I ever have seen but my pockets are feeling it(I'll make back the funds through hard work like always). To simplify and sum my thoughts up about Rock Rose for me it turns the expression of smelling like a million bucks( literally almost costing a million bucks) to a fragrance that's equivalent to the story of Midas because everything that this scent touches turns to gold or even better, platinum. Worth every dollar for me. My most regal smelling aroma. And it smells greeaat.

I so strongly disagree with the review below. If you find something of this quality and similar at Macy’s, please kindly let us know. This is a grand example of niche meeting mainstream. It doesn’t have some barnyard/gastric smelling oud or smell like anything that should offend someone. It’s just the right amount of simple and fully retains the pleasantry needed to have a suitable, high–quality for about any occasion, entirely signature scent worthy. It really comes to life on the skin. I’m proud to own a bottle, and it’s one of the few niche fragrances that I’ve received compliments on. I may wear this for wedding day next summer. I think it’s got to be in my top five!

My first Clive Christian fragrance I’ve added to my collection, I’m impressed. It’s definitely a mass appealing “fresh” fragrance with a little depth in my opinion. For me this is one of those fragrances you can easily transition from wearing at the office to happy hour fitting right in smelling phenomenal. The bergamot is fresh without being too citrusy balanced with the lavender along with the black pepper adding the slightest spiciness in the background with added warmth of amber to my nose. Very excited to have this in my collection although I do think Blonde Amber is better but it’s also a totally different scent that’ll be my next CC purchase 1000%.

Smells good. Smells great. I get a little of what makes Town & Country in here I also get a little of PDM Galloway. Very spicy, very fresh slightly herbaceous mixed with citrus. Imo this is an all season wear. Lasts an awful long time on me which is fine but its such a big smell I recommened easing up on the trigger during hotter months. Can you get this scent profile from other scents? Of course. Would I still get this one? Yes. Clive Christian has unequivocally good quality. And you can feel that difference. Overall:4.25 good stuff that lasts but not unique.

To start, you can’t even get socks as Macy’s for $50... This may not be worth the retail price tag, but it will always be in my collection. This is what I wore on the first date with my wife, when we got married, and any subsequent date (without kids) since then. I do enjoy this - a nice aromatic that doesn’t smell quite like anything else in my collection. If it were not for the price tag, I could honestly see this as being a decent signature scent. It’s non-offensive, smells different but still pleasant, and pretty versatile.

This is fucking incredible. The opening is so vibrant. such a beautiful blend of bergamot, neroli, and lavender. I smelled my wrist probably every 5 minutes for the first two hours. It turns into the most beautiful chocolatey patchouli in the dry down, while the lavender still stays around. This is one of the only times where I've seen the price tag on a very expensive fragrance and thought it was not outrageous because of how good this is. It is just fantastic and completely blows me away every time I get a whiff of it.

I first smelled this at neiman marcus. I have always been skeptical of these kinds of companies because of the high price point and dont really see myself spending $500 on a cologne. But if i was too, this would be the one i would spend it on. A very earthy and floral scent with some spice. I am usually a fresh and citrusy scent kind of guy, so this one took me by suprise. I definitely will be getting a decant sometime until i get rich enough to buy a bottle or someone buys me one for my birthday :D 8/10 for me

When I first smelled it I loved it, it wasn't a scent that surprised me in terms of originality but in quality. Somehow, although I haven't heard anyone else say this, to me it's like a Dior Savauge EDT, more aromatic (even more so than the parfum) and with more lavender. A fragrance that everyone will like but will not surprise anyone. I don't want to say that there is really much resemblance between Savauge and Rock Rose, but it did come to mind when I started to smell it more closely.

The pepper/lavendar/amber/patchouli really shines in this one. Very well rounded and very pleasant. Decent longevity and projection. If you're wearing this as a signature office fragrance, chances are you're an executive for a Fortune 100 company and have money to blow! I have a decant and will definitely use it here and there.....I love the scent profile and head space this puts me in! If this was $150-$200 for a 50ml bottle, I would pick it up.....but it's not! Cheers!

I own and wear several Clyde Christian fragrances. Rockrose is an awesome fragrance. It is crowd friendly and mild to the nose. At one point I was blending it with the women's CC Cosmos flowers. It was too sweet so now I just we're alone. It doesn't last a very long time on me but I wear it on my skin not my clothes. I've purchased two bottles so far.

Amazing scent. Super wearable & versatile. Totally mass appealing whilst screaming quality and sophistication. Decent performance. Can’t quite understand how this isn’t more hyped, but very glad it’s not. Don’t pay full retail. Keep an eye out on discounters and you can pick up for a reasonable price (<250) I would rate this 9 out of 10

I feel I’m still not able to do a full review of this fragrance yet, got a bottle 2 days ago, is really nice, but what I can say is that this is NOT similar to Invictus/montblanc legend spirit. This feels like a fougere with a twist, NOTHING bubblegummy or overly sweet. Will update soon.

I love the slight pepper smell in the opening. I believe it’s blended so nice with the freshness is what makes this stand out from the other everyday fresh scents. You can obviously tell the quality is notches above but can’t pull the trigger for $550. Absolutely beautiful scent!

This is an aromatic done to perfection. Perfectly balanced. Smells high class and special. Some CC frags are overpriced IMO. This one just might be worth the plunge. Masculine leaning IMO. Boss energy. Barber Shop but sophisticated Signature scent worthy. Very very nice.

A very pleasant scent, nothing ground breaking though. Personally I enjoyed this more years ago, but this has a very designeresque vibe to it. The quality is here, the performance is here, but the price is too much, especially since is smells like a designer fragrance.

Sweet and nice, smells like Rasasi Hawas but less projection. I’m finished with over the top $550 dollar fragrances, Rasasi Hawas is a quarter of the price and pretty much exactly the same. It is as one reviewer stated, easy to like but dumb as hair, I second that.

Love the notes. I fell in love with the fragrance first time I smelled it. Love by first scent. Now I have only smelled it once, and it performs good on my skin. I don't know which season the fragrance can be used it, but I will def buy it even tho it costs a lot

The best Masculine Rose fragrance out there. This beast shines during spring and summer. The whiffs i get with this juice is ridiculous! ALL DAY LONG! Very well done and once you smell it, you can immediately tell it is very high quality.

Sometimes im wondering how people compare two perfumes when there is no similarity at all. For example, this is completely different from Amyris Homme. How some guys see this as silimar with Amyris, I cant understand.

Man this is so good. Way better than blonde amber imo. Becomes unusual but in a good way.. lasts long and it is not offensive. Very easy to wear, def needs a try. This is some good juice

Rock Rose by CC is a very well crafted fragrance that is true to its name. The opening is undoubtedly masculine, but after the first transition occurs it becomes gender neutral - still leaning slightly towards the masculine side. The second phase slowly transitions into a green/sweet/floral/musky kind of scent, which smells almost exactly like the essential oil of rock rose (with a touch of sweetness). The dry down to the base notes is somewhat inviting (warm) with a hint of ... I don't know! I honestly think it's the massive amount of ingredients in this fragrance that makes it difficult to define. I must say, though, it does seem to become gender neutral after a few hours, leaning towards the feminine side. But it really depends on the wearer's skin and chemistry with the fragrance. I strongly feel that this fragrance was well designed, however, it doesn't draw me in or excite me (which is usually what I look for). Instead, it's a calming fragrance that will work wonders in the heat and compliment the vitality of spring. By no means is this a head turner; it's rock rose subtly supported by a mysterious blend that creates enough intrigue. You either like it or you don't. Rock Rose is a fragrances that literally is in a state of constant change. On myself, I enjoy the opening, the first transition, but everything after that is not to my personal taste. For a fragrance to be great for me I need to love every phase - beginning to end - and the end, while nice, is not something I enjoy wearing. IMHO Scent 7/10 Longevity 9/10 Sillage 6/10 Overall:7/10 Recommendation: 1 spray of C on your chest, one spray of X on your clothes and one on your wrists, followed by one spray of Rock Rose on your wrists. After trial and error I found this combination to be very nice. I wouldn't recommend buying Rock Rose just to compliment a combo. Unless you're wearing it exclusively with Cosmos Flower, which is an amazing feminine combination. Analysis: There are essentially three different ways to smell a fragrance on your skin and it's as simple as how quickly you breath in through your nose: fast, medium, and slow. These methods of smelling a fragrance will strongly determine which notes you pick up on the most. Immediately after spraying Rock Rose I smell the cardamom, black pepper, spearmint, patchouli, mandarin, neroli, tobacco orange, a hint of lavender. This lasts for about 2 minutes and then the rock rose comes into play with the nutmeg and cinnamon slowly emerging. The patchouli dies off rather quickly followed by the black pepper and neroli. After a short while the nutmeg and cinnamon fade away as well. To say the least, the opening of this fragrance is extremely complex. The transition into the heart notes is rather quick (about 10 on my skin) and this allows the base notes to play their role and beautifully infuse with the heart and top notes. After about 20-30 minutes the musk has a strong presence, and I think this is mostly due to the interaction between the many green (heart) and woody notes (base), which through combination creates a musky scent. All of this compliments the natural aroma of the rock rose, which is where this fragrance resides. The rock rose remains present in the final phase (fourth hours after application), but many of the heart notes fade into the somewhat sweet, mildly musky base with a hint of woodsy notes. A huge shift from the opening.

I'll likely get slated for giving another CC fragrance, yet another glowing review but it deserves it. Well....'glowing' might be taking it a bit far because taste wise, this is not really my thing. However, in terms of complexity, creativity and sheer quality, I have to doff my cap to Rock rose. If I'm not very much mistaken the resin Labdanum comes from a plant called the rock rose? Well it would appear that there's a type of rose call the rock rose, because the labdanum one doesn't resemble a conventional rose? Anyway I digress, if you're expecting a resin bomb then you'll be out of luck because this is a fresh uplifting scent on the surface but with something slightly more sinister lurking beneath. The opening is very bright with airy citruses and musk but with a very clean and cold feel added to by the breathy, minty vibe. It immediately strikes me as more in the Lyric Man genre of rose fragrance and as it dries down you get a little more dirt from the clary sage and a more floral feel of neroli. It's strange because although very long lasting on my skin it evolved very differently to how it did on the card and sprayed and put in a bag while shopping. Smelling it now I do get much more of a luxurious base from it and yet more confusion of something resembling a deep leathery and resinous feel, but still with all the top notes there, even the mint. I have to say this revelation was far more remarkable than if I'd just worn the fragrance because I didn't notice just what a complex creature Clive Christian Rock rose was. My girlfriend absolutely adored it from the first whiff and she wore it on the same day as me. Frankly if it was hint to get it for valentines day, she can keep wanting for this price. CC fragrances seem to be constantly rising in price, the one I bought a few years ago seems pretty reasonable compared to the hike I've seen since. Anyway...creatively this is a winner for me and something which has to explored and worn several times or you might mistake for something more linear. Great but not exceptional.

I love this and I'd love it even more if I wasn't so severely nose blind to it. Starting the small stretch of fragrances from the Noble collections with Rock Rose and what a gorgeous fougère this is. Very aromatic with a hint of citrus in the opening, this is a classic gentleman fragrance. It does remind me a bit of Contemporary in its aromatic sweetness, but funnily enough it also kind of reminded me of JPG's Le Male, but without the mint. There's something specific in the Le Male line's DNA that is present here and it popped up in my head instantly when I smelled this in the air. Even now that it's dried down I'm still reminded of the JPG. This is, however, a much higher quality fragrance. I also find this to be perfect for all year round and for most occasions, maybe just not for really casual ones as I think Rock Rose has a slight upscale/sophisticated quality to it that doesn't lend itself to being a fragrance for everyday. But unfortunately it seems I'm incredibly nose blind to this fragrance, which really saddens me because I love it. Even right after spraying it on I had a hard time smelling it in the air, but my sister did tell me it smelled pretty strongly when we were sat down for lunch, almost too strong in her words. It's been about an hour and a half since I sprayed it on and I can barely smell it on my skin at all, like I had sprayed this on 6-8 hours ago. Now to be fair I did spend some time in a hot car not long after spraying it on so that definitely affected performance as it probably evaporated really quickly. I also can't shake the feeling my skin moisturizer heavily affects my fragrances' performance, as whenever I do apply it (like today) whatever fragrance I wear that day seems to be gone in less than three hours. Based on this I'll definitely have to wear this again another time to see if I am in fact as nose blind as I think I might be or if it was just the accumulation of factors I mentioned.

I'll be honest, I don't see myself buying a full bottle of this. It's a bit too rich for my wallet, so I'm perfectly fine with the decant that I have for now. Given the conditions that I work in, anything heavy or cloying would make getting through a bit more difficult, so this would be a nice alternative to wear so as to not offend or scare off anyone within my direct vicinity. It's a fresh, peppery floral. The best comparison that I can make is that it's similar to Chanel's Egoiste, but without the b.o./sweat factor that makes Egoiste so great. It's actually quite fresh. The opening is especially great, as it gives the sensation of cutting into a fresh lime. That note is further sharpened by the pepper. It becomes a real stunner when it starts to warm up. The notes of sage and lavender start peeking through, accompanied by by warm amber and cacao. It's still sharp, but not overly so. I don't get the rose until the end, but by that time it's turned into a skin scent, but it's still pleasant nonetheless. At this point, it's actually quite beautiful - and a touch more feminine. My only complaint up until this point is that for something this pricey, I expect more longevity.

To the reviewer two below, and I suppose anyone who doesn’t know: rock rose isn’t rose: it’s labdanum. There is no rose in this. Smells super classy. Opening is bright and citrusy, and the pepper, which I typically don’t like, is muted enough that it’s enjoyable. The fougere elements come out in the heart, and the lavender stays throughout. The bass notes are super well balanced, and if anyone is concerned, the cacao and amber combo doesn’t make it come off as sweet. The vetiver and patchouli really level it off. I got my bottle at a discounted price, but the cost is ludicrous for what this is. It’s super classy, very refined, easy to wear, but the projection is bad, and the longevity is only ok. I’m new to fougere’s, and while I appreciate and love this scent, I’ll keep looking. Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 6/10 Projection: 3/10 Full bottle: get it at a heavy discount if you can, but retail seems wild.

This is a curious one. It is aromatic from the herbs but also opens quite sweet. You do get the cocoa. Thankfully the sweetness quickly eases off. It is very unisex. It's not harsh in anyway although the aromatic notes get quite intense. The lavender now intensifies and it is easily identifiable as a fougere. A rich one and quite dense one at that. The sage is very evident. The delicate violet is not easy to pick out! I think I can see why some see a resemblance to the Pharrel scent. It is only fleeting at the start. The Pharrel scent is very peppery and has violet. They veer off in different directions after that brief resemblance. You can just about make out the rose, amber and cocoa in the background. This is very potent stuff. A big sillage and longevity to match.

Floral PEZ. If there were such a thing, that is what this would be. It has that powdery sweetness of a PEZ pellet, mixed with a floral smell. I felt great putting this on. I asked my sig other what she thought. She said it smells like rose soap, like when you open your grandmother's soap drawer (yep, grandmas have soap drawers?) and there are 10 different floral soap bar scents all mixed together. I think it smells great, and definitely will wear it again. It seemed like a perfect scent to wear in the waning sun of a bright spring evening. I see a lot of people commenting on wearing it to a wedding - certainly classy and upbeat. Happy? Long lasting with moderate projection.
