X Twist Liquorice

Rich, aromatic and herbaceous. The anise note is very strong...not just in the open, which brings some brightness to an otherwise dark vibe. This reminds me of fernet branca mixed with chartreuse and Pernod. Very very aromatic. I don’t get much sweetness from this...the maple and myrrh are presumably here but I don’t get syrupy or resinous at all. This is very elegant. There’s a lot more going on, but the anise is def the star of the show, as you would imagine. Everything else sits underneath. The linear notes included say between 100-300 materials, so I don’t know that I’m picking any notes out specifically except for the anise, but it smells fantastic. I’ve never smelled X, but this makes me want to blind buy a bottle of it, no question. Performance is not killer, but almost better for it. It hangs around but isn’t loud. Like a DD at a house party. You look around after a few hours and realize they are still there, hanging out in the kitchen but not saying much. But you’re very happy to see them.

This version is similar to the original X but much woodier and smoother with a liquorice finish that truly sets it apart. And to be fair, the allspice is more prominent here, and much more reminiscent to Monarch than of X, albeit more refined. The main notes I pick up on, are myrhh, licorice, maple extract and a combination of liquorice and pencil shavings, which makes for a wonderful upgrade to an already familiar composition. Orris butter and myrrh add a touch of creaminess, which aids in delivering a smooth intoxicating blend. Novice noses might not find much of a difference, and fans who are already sated with X might not consider this a must have. I was looking into acquiring a new bottle of X, as I was running low, but stumbled upon this limited release instead. Glad I did, as it is clearly the overall better scent.

Dark and aromatic fragrance with a bit of woodiness, sits pretty close to the skin and lasts for a decent amount of time (7-8 hours) The cardamom in this kind of reminds me of Xerjoff Starlight but way less sweet, more woody, dark, and refined. It's Overall a really pleasing and sophisticated fragrance that I would recommend to be used on special occasions or on a refined date night. Longevity -7/10 Silage -6/10 Scent/Smell -9/10
